To our friends and supporters,
With your financial support, we continue to make a difference for...
Let the whole creation cry! Heaven and earth awake and sing! It is a privilege to share this annual report with you and shout, “Alleluia!” The 34th year of Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM) included a gifted faculty of musical artists and a great summer staff. Our students were some of the nation’s best and brightest musicians, and came from the mountains, prairies, cities, towns and every coast and even from across our northern border. Yet, LSM continued to feel the strain that many of our cultural and educational institutions shared: fewer youth who are stretched too thin between parent, school and community expectations. 94 youth made their way to Decorah this past summer, a trend that put a financial strain on providing this quality program. Truly, YOU made the difference. With your financial support, and the support of the visionaries who funded our endowment years ago, LSM 2014 transformed lives and connected people through faith and music at the same level and quality as in years past. This past year we said ‘goodbye’ to old friends Sue Olstad, Ellen Cattadoris and Megan Hasche, as they moved on to be closer to family and start new career adventures; and we said ‘hello’ to our new national staff members, Lisa Hartwig and Molly Maillette. Cathie Schauer continues on as Director of Finance and Administration and Molly Boes was promoted to Admissions Manager. We hope you will join us at LSM 2015 from June 21st to July 19th at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. You can find further details including a list of our donors from the past fiscal year at www.lutheransummermusic.org. Heartfelt thanks and blessings for your continued support,
Bob Olsen, Executive Director

“The LSM experience has been one of excellence in music and worship for a complete generation. Much like the proper preface statement in the Divine Service, “with angels and archangels and all the company of heaven,” all staff and students of LSM have participated in and been shaped by an experience which transcends time and place. The Lutheran Music Program and Academy has been a blessing for our family, providing a common appreciation of singing and playing instruments to the glory of God.” -Allison Yee (LSM ’82) and Evelyn Yee (LSM ’11)
Alumni “I was an LSM Camper from 1992-1995. Two of those years included Paul Hoffman as our chaplain! I went on to become his intern during seminary and we have remained friends. LSM had a PROFOUND impact on my life. It made me a Lutheran. I discerned a call to pastoral ministry. And I met my future wife!” -Rev. Nathan & Jennifer Baker-Trinity (LSM ’92-’95)
