another proud Cup-experienCe Well, we can put the Cup Final suits away for another year. I must admit though, I’m not too bothered about going out to Arsenal in the recent FA Cup tussle.
and much to their credit, our boys, steadied themselves and in the end made Arsenal work very hard for their victory. I for one was very proud of Leeds United.
Apart from the obvious need to concentrate on our league performances and try and achieve promotion, I felt that failing to beat Arsenal at the Emirates, which Leeds thoroughly deserved to do, we were always going to struggle against the Gunners the second time around. In the first game, Leeds were superb and, as I say, should have won the game. If Becchio had managed to convert his late header we would be turning out against the might of Huddersfield Town in the fourth round. It goes without saying that Leeds didn’t let themselves or the fans down in either game, but watching Arsenal in the first twenty minutes or so in the replay at Elland Road, I was very frightened indeed by the visitors, they looked immense. That said,
Just on a personal note, the stage play about my first book, Paint it White, was very successful in a 3-week sell-out show in Leeds last October. The actors were superb and were a credit to Leeds United and the fans. The show will now embark on a tour, which will be going all over the country, beginning at Scarborough in October, before travelling to several towns and cities including, Nottingham, Norwich, London, Cleethorpes and many, many more. I wish the cast the best of luck, but from what I’ve already seen, they won’t need it. The play will coincide with the release of my third book, No Glossing Over It which covers the injustices that our club have had to deal with throughout its existence.
