The 11th Caribbean Winterschool 2020 was an annual international urban design and architecture workshop hosted by CUJAE in Havana, Cuba. This year's project involved urban regeneration in El Fanguito, an informal settlement (favela) on the east bank of the Rio Almandares in Vedado. Situated between El Malécon and Parque Almandares, the masterplan involves a cultural arts centre with connections to Fabrica de Arte Cubano and a new social housing development inspired by Alejandro Aravena's 'half a house builds a whole community'. During this project, I worked in a collaborative group of 5 with students from Germany, Israel and Cuba.
