A Islândia (1944) é uma república parlamentar situada no norte da Europa, numa ilha perto do Círculo Polar Árctico, entre a Gronelândia e a Noruega. Apesar da elevada latitude da ilha, o clima não é hostil no litoral oeste, devido à influência da corrente do golfo. Por essa razão e apesar do nome - Terra do Gelo, tem invernos surpreendentemente suaves. Embora seja comum fazer sol e chuva ao mesmo tempo, o clima muda rapidamente, dando origem ao provérbio local - Se não gosta do tempo, espere quinze minutos.
Iceland (1944) is a parliamentary republic located on an island in the north of Europe, between Greenland and Norway and close to the Polar Arctic Circle. Despite the island’s high latitude, the climate on the west coast is not adverse because of the influence of the Gulf Stream. This is why that, in spite of its name – Ice Land – its winters are surprisingly mild. Although the sun often shines at the same time as it rains, the climate changes rapidly, giving rise to the local proverb: if you don’t like the weather, wait a few minutes.
O mais jovem país da Europa - geologicamente falando, está ainda em formação. Um pouco por todo o lado, no alto das montanhas e debaixo dos glaciares, há um rio de fogo que vai modificando a paisagem primitiva desta ilha, com mais de duzentos vulcões, géisers, icebergs, fiordes, lagoas, grandes cascatas e quedas de água. Aqui estão reunidos alguns atractivos que dificilmente poderemos encontrar num outro lugar. A sua natureza é árida, agreste e no solo de lava escura existe pouca vegetação, para além de líquenes e algumas plantas rasteiras.
It is the youngest land in Europe – in geological terms, and it is still in formation. Almost everywhere, on top of the mountains and underneath the glaciers, runs a river of fire that keeps shaping the primitive landscape of this island that boasts more than two hundred volcanoes, geysers, icebergs, fjords, lakes, and both large and smaller waterfalls. Here one may find a number of attractions that are difficult to find anywhere else on Earth. Its nature is barren and wild and the dark lava soil has little vegetation, other than moss and a few creeping plants.

Como hobby, desde há muitos anos que se dedica à Fotografia, algo indissociável às suas viagens. Outras actividades também fazem parte da sua rotina: a Corrida, o Mergulho, o Pára-quedismo, o Ski, entre outras. Publicou vários artigos sobre viagens em revistas da especialidade, tanto em Portugal como no Brasil, país onde actualmente trabalha e reside.
He took up photography as a hobby many years ago, something that is indissociably linked to his travels. His routine also includes other activities: Jogging, Scuba Diving, Skydiving and Skiing, among others. He has published a number of articles on travel in specialized magazines, both in Portugal as in Brazil where he currently works and lives.
