COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
At Seaford RFC, community is at the heart of everything we do. Thanks to the exceptional work of our Rugby Development Officer (RDO), we are proud to be leading the way in schools and grassroots engagement across the region.
OUR OBJECTIVES
1. Partner with every local secondary school to deliver a high-quality rugby curriculum and extracurricular opportunities.
2. Actively engage with all 11 primary schools in the area to inspire early participation.
3. Build lasting relationships with schools and community organisations, creating clear pathways into the club.
4. Grow our Mini and Junior sections by increasing awareness, accessibility, and enjoyment of rugby from an early age.
SECONDARY SCHOOL IMPACT
• Over 360 students have received 8 hours of curriculum-based rugby in PE lessons.
• More than 100 students have attended our after-school rugby club at Seaford Head.
• Full boys’ and girls’ teams are now playing at all age-grade levels across our partner schools.
• 50 students from Peacehaven Community School have taken part in structured afterschool sessions led by the club.

PRIMARY SCHOOL IMPACT
• Over 1,650 primary pupils have enjoyed 6 hours of PE-based rugby delivered by our RDO.
• 7 local schools are now actively participating in our curriculum programme.
• We proudly hosted the 3rd annual Twelftree Cup, with 130 Year 6 pupils competing across 12 school teams.
• Chyngton School were the 2023 champions; Cradle Hill lifted the trophy in 2024.
WHAT’S NEXT?
The success of our schools programme has gained national attention. Seaford RFC has now been selected by England Rugby to lead the rollout of T1 Rugby—a brand-new, non-contact format designed to broaden access and participation across all age groups. To support this initiative, our RDO, Kevin, has been appointed Schools Rugby Manager for the RFU two days per week—tasked with replicating our school engagement success in other regions across Sussex.

WALKING RUGBY SEAFORD@ RFC
It has been a great year of growth and success.
We have grown in numbers and regularly have 16 training on a Sunday morning at 10:00 with every first Sunday of the month being a “social” training session where there is no great deal of coaching, no drills and rules are relaxed for all to enjoy at their individual pace and abilities. Anyone wanting to take part need just turn up at the Seaford RFC club house a bit before 10:00 on a Sunday (September to late May), bring suitable footwear (preferably studded boots) and loose-fitting clothes with an attitude of let’s give it a go. You can be as competitive as you like but within the spirit and rules of the game or go as slow as you want and build up confidence and speed with practice.
This past year we have played in Calais, France as a Sussex representative team, Newport, Wales in a festival and returned home with some silver ware to keep in the club house, Belgium in their first walking rugby festival, Burgess Hill on the Saturday and Seaford on the Sunday in the “Sussex weekender” with touring teams attending from across the country.
THE WALKING RUGBY GAME IS BUILT ON FUN AND EXERCISE
