Whilst running Factiv’s instagram account (@factiv.hk), I created informative and scientifically accurate graphs and visualisations in collaboration with copywriters and researchers.

Other than having the mission to transcribe scientific knowledge accurately, I also had to make sure they look pleasing to the target audiences.

I took inspiration from brutalist architecture for my graphic design approach, in which I introduced minimalistic and rustic textures for each social media post.

My designs resulted in increasingg Factiv’s social media following by five-fold, from 3k to 15k followers.

In the designs, I used text overlaid on top of photographs of nature in order to subtly remind the mostly American target audience of Science Magazine and the National Geographic.

ACYO Nightclub Building Signage

Architectural Scale Graphic Design ☑ Enormous Wall Sticker with Dimention of 27 meters wide , 15 meters hight ☑

This wall sticker was designed to promote an upcoming new nightclub named ACYO, which eventually opened in March 2019.

The design of the sound wave is employed for the quality of a futuristic aesthetic. It covered the building in Lang Kwai Fong.

Critical Typographic Design Manifesto

In-depth exploration with traditional typography ☑ Delicate Ink-jet printing technology ☑ This so-called critical manifesto is actually a self-referential joke. It was not critical of anything, nor was it manifesting any ideologies. By combining the postmodern humour with typographic design, it aims at exploring the history of design layouts, while making fun of people who take them way too seriously.

The design of each page references a particular period in history of typography. This project showcases my understanding of traditional typography, and my ability to recreate each style accurately.

Left: Page 6 of my essay The notorious Comic Sans needs no introduction. I broke all the graphic design rules in this layout to symbolise the vulgarisation of graphic design due to technological advancement.

Swiss Typographic Style and the International Style were epitomes of modernist typography. After being adopted by Bauhaus in the 1920’s, they took the world by storm in the 50’s and 60’s The influence of modernist typography is still present in today’s design.

As a designer, it was crucial for me to explore this period of design history.

5.1m x 2.8m Multi-media Installation ☑ Universally Accalaimed by Visitors ☑

This is an installation inside of the night club for its Christmas decoration. I designed and executed this Christmas-themed installation for Zentral night club. I acted as the art dirtector of this projecy and oversaw woodwork and electrical work.

Approach Drawing inspiration from the online trends of Vaporwave and Cyberpunk, this installation is designed to show the subversive but funny side of the nightclub.

I also integrated Christmas elements with Cyberpunk aesthetics to fit the purpose of this whole installation.

The set received universal acclaim from vistiors.

Minimalistic Illustrations as Instructive Signage ☑ Designed for Putting Safety First ☑ These print illustrations and signage were made specifically for a British private healthcare company. Due to client’s privacy policy, I can only show these drafts.

These modern, clean and minimalistic instructional safety illustrations are an example of putting clarity of message first without compromising on aesthetics and brand identity.

These designs were printed on healthcare facilities’ signage, product packaging and printed manuals.

This video is created to promote Factiv, a start-up skincare brand based in Hong Kong. Since its branding is rooted in scientific research, the imagery mostly clings to laboratory aesthetics.

I prepared some of the materials by producing photography and videos.

It was on display on a three-storey (~12m high) large billboard screen in one of the busiest street in Tsim Sha Tsui in September 2019.
