Outdoor Classroom Lowther’s

Looking for an inspiring setting to take learning experiences outside?

Our dedicated outdoor space, part of our second venue, The Windmill Performance & Education Centre, is perfect for you if you are seeking a fresh environment in which to work. Seating up to 30 comfortably, this open-air space provides an ideal backdrop for lessons, workshops, performances and group activities.

Surrounded by nature, the space encourages creativity, focus, and hands-on learning, whether you’re exploring science, storytelling, mindfulness or music.

Our amphitheatre is set into the exterior wall at the back of the new building, allowing rain cover for outdoor events. It has direct access to toilet facilities just a few steps away.

This space is already proving popular with groups as a great alternative learning space.

Our outdoor classroom is available for half-day or full-day bookings.

Discounted School Tickets

Every year, we welcome thousands of school pupils into our auditorium with special discounts for the education sector.

One of the most popular shows for schools is our annual pantomime. Starting in December, our festive extravaganza gives schools access to discounted tickets, as well as free, themed educational activities that can be used in the classroom.

Why book with us?

Our beautiful coastal location and on-site car park, make it easy for you to get your students here for a streamlined door-to-door experience.

Where applicable, schools are also able to take advantage of additional savings with group discounts on participating shows.

For a full list of participating shows, please contact our Box Office team.

“Our group of 49 school children really enjoyed [Panto] Everything about the booking was great. The communication from the theatre, billing process, organisation on the day has all been great. We will definitely book again."

Streamed Performances

One key area for us as a theatre is broadening access to the arts. Currently, we’re a streaming partner of National Theatre, and Trafalgar Releasing, which means we’re able to offer screened performances.

This initiative helps to support learning, enhances cultural literacy, and creates a deeper appreciation of live theatre and performance.

We can work closely with you to organise post-show discussions, and offer accompanying supporting materials.

By bringing high-quality theatre into classrooms, or bringing your students to us, you’re not only encouraging creativity or critical thinking, but also inspiring empathy amongst students.

Early Years Lowther’s

We’re developing creative ideas and workshops all the time.

Little Lowther Ages 0 - 4

Our session for babies, early years and their adults sees our studio transformed into a safe, welcoming space for exploration, open-ended play and moments of collaboration.

Children’s Theatre Workshop Ages 4 -6

Use imagination, exchange ideas, dress up, create scenes, characters and stories to share with each other, then perform for friends and families!

We build performance skills, mixed with fun and creative play. Our main focus is drama, but sessions also use drawing, making, music, poetry and movement as stimuli.

If you have an idea or would like more information, contact our Education Officer kerry@lowtherpavilion.co.uk

Outreach work

Community collaborations

We work with groups of all ages and abilities to build confidence, communication and trust, draw out and explore themes. This can lead to a co-created performance or other outcome for sharing with friends, family and stakeholders. Timings are flexible; we have run one-off sessions for a themed event: ie Refugee Week; Fun Palaces, etc, as well as ongoing collaborations with a specific group, such as adults with autism and disabilities.

Schools

We deliver workshops as part of a school careers week. Our staff can also welcome a group of students to our venue to experience a day or half-day in a working theatre. We’re signed up to the Lancashire Skills Pledge and liaise with the Responsible Business Network, taking part in careers fairs and interviews where possible.

In addition to this, we work with teaching staff to create and lead various sessions, including ideas for World Book Day; Myths and Legends; Devising workshops with GCSE students; curriculum topics and work on oracy, text and performance skills.

Arts Award

We’re an Arts Award Centre and have Arts Award Advisors working here for additional, accredited learning.
