START YOUR EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY HERE

LCC’s Junior School is a nurturing environment where ideas, inspiration and stimulation abound. The first years of a child’s education are critical in establishing a love for learning and ensuring future success as a student. From kindergarten through grade 6, children are immersed in a bilingual academic program that allows them to explore their creativity, cultivate their imaginations and discover their potential. The focus is on building a strong foundation through the ongoing development of critical thinking, communication, and social and self-management skills.
Reading comprehension, writing structure, and the development of mathematical concepts and their application to real-life situational problems are priorities. Understanding that each child’s learning path is unique, the teachers use research-based educational practices to cater to those differences with a variety of approaches. In addition, learning strategists in our LEAD department (Learning Enrichment and Development) further support the neurodiverse learners in our community.

A WARM, SAFE & WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT

At the very heart of LCC’s philosophy is the creation of an atmosphere in which each child can thrive. The Junior School is designed to optimize the academic, social, emotional and physical development of the students.
Located in the south wing of the main building, the classroom spaces, two gyms, and dedicated science, music and art rooms are flooded with natural light and are equipped with furniture to optimize collaborative learning.

A COMMUNITY OF LEADERS & LEARNERS
Supported and guided by a dedicated team of exceptional teachers — who also act as coaches and mentors — children in the elementary grades develop the confidence that will help them reach their full potential. Junior School students form bonds with their teachers and peers while focusing on the school’s core values that are a critical part of the LCC experience. Our teachers are committed to continuous improvement and pursue professional development activities to enhance their teaching skills and acquire new knowledge.

DEVELOPING GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES:
WE ARE SHAPING A BETTER WORLD.
As a global school, our aim is to promote understanding and learning of world cultures, expose students to different ways of thinking and living, and help them prepare for their role in an evolving global society.
A variety of age-appropriate programs and activities are organized at the Junior School level to introduce them to a broader worldview. To name a few:
A culture and citizenship program
A music program which introduces students to songs from different cultures
Fundraising for local and international organizations
A diverse selection of literature in English and French

SOCIALEMOTIONAL LEARNING
Positive relationships with the classroom teachers are at the core of the student’s well-being. With a social-emotional curriculum and the support of the Junior School counsellor, students have varied opportunities to build their self-awareness, and their selfmanagement and relationship skills.
