Growing up in Gympie with no television, Tani is also raising her 4 kids without television. What is ironic is that until earlier this year, Tani was a television producer. Being without screens is a way of cultivating creativity and keeping family close. This family roam free in a heavenly backyard, bare feet and with each other.
Tani is also the face behind Just Two Hands. Taught to weave by her mum using the cats claw creeper around their creek, she finds joy teaching others how to turn natural, found materials into something beautiful and practical.

This project has taken a number of years to bring to completion and I am pleased to see the finished product with the installation of a new roundabout with splitter islands and pedestrian refuges to enhance safety for all road users. An additional pedestrian refuge crossing point was also installed on Melton Road approx. 110m south of the intersection. Mix the Arts is my label, it sums up the diversity of my creative practice. When did you start having an interest in art?
Northside Connect runs weekly food relief programs and we are looking for volunteers who may be able to help on Tuesday mornings with our food relief hamper handout and community lunch. The food relief hamper role involves packing hampers of donated goods and distributing these to members of the community from the centre, starting at 9am and finishing at around 12pm.
Back after a two-year break due to Covid, Northside Connect once again set up in our carpark and joined in to Nundah Festival. With the giant slide and a colouring in activity for Child Protection Week, a range of raffle prizes and handmade craft from our sewing group, there was something for everyone. We also had Boomerang Bags and Noonga Reconciliation Group join us on the day. The festival was an enormous success, with near-perfect weather, huge crowds and great entertainment.
