We have had an outstanding first full week of school in Lovejoy ISD! Classrooms are buzzing with energy, and it has been wonderful to see students settling into their routines, reconnecting with friends, and building meaningfulrelationshipswiththeirteachers.

TheTexasEducationAgency(TEA)hasreleased district and campus accountability ratings. We areproudtosharethatLovejoyISDandeach ofourschoolsreceivedanArating.

OnMonday,wegatheredfor Theseoutcomesreflecttheperseveranceof ourstudents,dedicationofoureducators,supportofourparents,andthestrong governance of our Board of Trustees. Together, we form a powerful alliance focusedontheeducationalexperienceofourstudentsandthesuccessofLovejoy ISD.

ExcitingNewCommunicationEnhancements

Strongcommunicationisapriorityforus.OurDistrictAppnowincludesRooms,a secure,two-waymessagingtoolthatmakesiteasyforfamiliestostayconnected. Within the app, parents and teachers can exchange messages, share announcements,andstayupdatedonschoolevents allinoneplace.Switchingto Rooms is just one click. The District App is available for everyone, including community members who want to stay informed. CityofLucasBack-to-SchoolEvent

We are excited to join the annual City of Lucas Back-to-School celebration next Saturday, August 23rd, at the Lucas Farmer’s Market. Our Lovejoy Band and studentperformerswillbethere,readytobringthemusic,theenergy,andthefun, eveninthesummerheat!Imayevenbemakinganappearanceinthedunktank. Eventdetailscanbefoundhere.

PTOandPTONewFamilyWelcomeCoffee

As we start the school year, we invite all families to join the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). The PTO strengthens our Lovejoy ISD school community by supporting programs, events, and resources for students and staff. CongratulationstoourVarsityVolleyballteamontheirexcitingwinTuesdaynight againstWakelandHighSchool!Thegymwaselectriconandoffthecourtwhenthe first set went to 31-29 (Lovejoy). The Lovejoy High School gym was packed with LeopardsthatcameouttosupportLovejoyVolleyball.

WhatisSHAC?

A SHAC (School Health Advisory Council) is a school board-appointed advisory groupofindividualswhorepresentdifferentsegmentsofthecommunity.Bylaw,a majorityofthemembersmustbepersonswhoareparentsofstudentsenrolledin thedistrictandwhoarenotemployedbythedistrict.TheLISDSHACismadeupof parents, community members, students, and school staff working together to improvethehealthofallstudentsandfamiliesthroughcoordinatedschoolhealth programs

Whatisthetimecommitment?

Our committee meets 4 to 6 times a year from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. We ask that membersbewillingtoservefortwoyears,ifpossible,tosupportcontinuity.

TheLovejoyVolleyballprogramhasstartedtheseasononahighnote,wrappingup the first week of scrimmages with an impressive victory over defending State Champions,Wakeland.TheLeopardssecureda3–1winintherematchagainstthe team that eliminated Lovejoy from last year’s playoffs. With strong performances across the board, the team displayed the focus, determination, and skill that will carrythemintotheregularseason.Coachesandplayersalikeareeagertobuildon thismomentumastheyprepareforthechallengesahead.

The Lovejoy Cheerleaders brought home more than just memories from the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Summer Camp, they returned with an impressive collection of team and individual awards! After a week of hard work, team bonding, and skill-building, our squads are entering the 2025–2026 school yearproudoftheiraccomplishmentsandreadytobringcontagiousenergytothe sidelines.Fanscanlookforwardtodynamicstunts,spiritedchants,andinspiring performancesallseasonlong.

Children in our PreK-4 class engaged in a lively counting activity using the active floor.Thetheme,inspiredbyFiveLittleMonkeysJumpingontheBed,encouraged students to practice their numbers through movement, music, and play. As they jumped,counted,andactedoutthestory,thechildrenstrengthenedtheirnumber recognition and sequencing skills while also developing coordination and cooperationwiththeirpeers.

LCDC PreK-3 students strengthened their fine motor skills through engaging, hands-on activities. From sorting and peeling stickers to tearing paper and exploringavarietyofwritingtools,eachtaskhelpedbuildfingerstrengthandhand coordination importantfoundationsforfuturewritingsuccess.

Onlytwodaysintotheschoolyear,8thgradesocialstudiesstudentswerealready thinking critically and engaging in meaningful collaboration and discourse. After reflectinginwritingonhowlessonsfromhistorycanshapestrong,futureleaders, studentscametogethertocreateasetofwhole-classnormstousethroughoutthe schoolyear.Thediscussionwaslivelyandthoughtful,withstudentssharingideas, listening to one another, and building consensus. This activity not only strengthened reading, writing, and critical thinking skills, but also connected learning to the real world showing students that the skills they use to study historyarethesameonesthathelpbuildarespectful,thrivingcommunity.
