The Special Olympics basketball skills program is designed to help athletes develop fundamentalskillswhilepromotingteamwork, confidence, andsportsmanship. It provides opportunities for individuals with special needs to participate in basketball at their own pace, whether they are beginners or experienced players. Our students competed in dribbling and passing and shooting exercises. Many ribbons and medals were won, however, the highlight of the event may have been the celebratory dance party at the end proving that while competition is exciting, the joy of community and camaraderie is what trulymakestheseeventsspecial.
