We’ve made it through another winter! I o en use the change of seasons as a time for reflection and personal renewal, but spring holds a special place in my heart. Let's be honest, winter has its charm, but it’s o en too cold, too dark in the

The shi from winter to spring is profoundly impactful. Darkness gives way to light, the cold air turns warmer, and our main source of Vitamin D once again becomes the warm sunshine. With this transformation, Butler County’s outdoor recreation and entertainment scene truly begins to bloom.
This spring, I encourage each of you to enjoy a happy hour at a local restaurant with outdoor seating, hit the links at a nearby golf course, or attend an outdoor concert. Embrace all the good things associated with more sunshine—more smiles and more joy in our lives.
I am incredibly blessed to lead this fantastic organization and to be a resident of Butler County—the best place in the world to live, work, and play. I can’t wait to see all of you taking advantage of this beautiful place we call home.

The Butler County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to recognize Megan M. Coval’s appointment as the ninth president of Butler County Community College (BC3). Coval, who has served as interim president since May 2024, was unanimously selected by the BC3 Board of Trustees in a 15-0 vote on March 19, 2025. She officially assumed her role as the college’s chief executive officer on March 20.
Coval’s leadership and vision have consistently impressed BC3 trustees, leading to their unanimous decision to forgo an external search. Board Chair Joseph E. Kubit emphasized Coval’s exemplary performance as interim president, stating, “There is truly no part of this role in which she did not shine.” Trustee Jennifer Pullar echoed this sentiment, highlighting that her appointment reinforces the board’s confidence in her leadership and dedication to BC3’s future.
Before joining BC3 in 2021, Coval spent 13 years in Washington, D.C., working in federal student financial aid policy.
BC3 trustees Wednesday appointed Coval, who has served the college as interim president for 10 months, as president of the 60-year-old institution of higher education
Her experience as Vice President for Policy and Federal Relations at the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and as Director of Government Relations for the U.S. Department of Education’s Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance positioned her as a strategic leader in higher education.
As BC3’s Executive Director of the Education Foundation and External Relations, Coval played a pivotal role in securing nearly $7 million in private contributions for the construction of the Victor K. Phillips Nursing and Allied Health Building, which opened in August 2023. Her experience in government relations will be particularly valuable as Pennsylvania’s higher education landscape evolves under Governor Josh Shapiro’s newly announced state blueprint.
Under Coval’s interim presidency, BC3 has taken proactive steps to ensure longterm financial stability. The college implemented cost-cutting measures, including consolidating facilities and reducing tuition for high school students enrolled in BC3’s College Within the High School program. These initiatives reflect Coval’s strategic approach to maintaining BC3’s affordability and accessibility while reinforcing its role as an anchor institution in the community.
A native of Butler County, Coval holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Penn State University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Allegheny College. She is actively involved in the community, serving on the Friends of Preston Park Foundation board and participating in the Butler County Growth Collaborative.
As BC3 moves forward under her leadership, the Butler County Chamber of Commerce congratulates President Megan M. Coval on this well-earned appointment and looks forward to the continued success of the college under her guidance.

I’ve also had the chance to become even further integrated into our communities, which is something I have always loved."

Some of the words that resonated most with me were: promoted, growth, togetherness, energy, welcoming, connected, and exciting. I couldn't agree more with these aspirations, and I look forward to seeing them come to life in 2025 and beyond.
