San Antonio Dance Umbrella, a non-profit organization committed to the growth and preservation of dance, on Saturday, Oct. 6 and 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The adult version of Haunted River takes place at the Arneson River Theatre with a $1,000 grand prize costume contest, live music, a flash mob Halloween dance.
OCTOBER AFTER DARK
Adding to the family film fun, Santikos Entertainment hosts four free movies in October, leading up to the days before Halloween. Every Saturday in October at 11 a.m., enjoy a free “spooky” movie at Santikos Silverado 16 located at 11505 W. Loop 1604 North. (Tickets will be given on a first come, first serve basis so make sure all family witches and warlocks arrive early.) The monster mash-up movie schedule features: “Casper”
The River Walk transforms into the Haunted River on Oct. 26 starting at 6 p.m. when two separate but equally fun Halloween events take place. The family-version will be held at the Shops at Rivercenter with a costume contest judged by none other than San Antonio Batman and his super-hero friends. Trick-ortreat at over a dozen locations on the River Walk with free goody bags and trick-or-treat map to the first 1,000 children thanks to Topgolf San Antonio. Other activities include a DJ, face painting and activation by several Rivercenter shops.
(Oct. 7), “The Addams Family” (Oct. 14), “Monster House” (Oct. 21) and “Coraline” (Oct. 28). After dark, October becomes spooky. From ghosts to goblins, tricks and treats, why not gather together under the cover of darkness and watch an exciting movie together? After tripping the light fantastic, check out the Fantastic Four fight crime at the Southtown Cinema movie series. Come for happy hour with live music, food, beer and cocktails and stay for the showing of “Justice League” on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m.
