One thousand American flags line banks of the downtown River Walk, trees are adorned with red, white and blue ribbons, and bridges are decorated with patriotic décor and flags. It is fun as usual on the River Walk but downtown bridges and trees sporting a red, white and blue motif are a perfect backdrop for photos! Saturday, July 2, 2022 11:00am–12:00pm This free parade is dedicated to the men and women in all branches of the United States Armed Forces and features patriotically decorated floats carrying all branches of military personnel, and numerous businesses and nonprofits who honor and support active and retired soldiers. View the parade for free on the downtown section of the River Walk, and for even more fun, make a reservation at your favorite River Walk restaurant for prime patio viewing of the parade while enjoying delicious food and cold drinks! You are also welcome to bring folding chairs and sit along the parade route (parade route map is available on website). Please do not block pedestrian traffic, and come out early to secure a good spot.
The parade is approximately 40 minutes in length from when you see the first float to the last float. The parade starts at the International Center at 203 S. St. Mary’s Street. WEATHER: The Armed Forces River Parade will take place rain or shine. However, the event will be canceled if severe weather creates an unsafe situation for the float riders or the public. The Fourth of July Artisan Show lets you experience the beauty of the San Antonio River Walk while shopping over 40 handmade artisan booths, including pottery, textiles, jewelry, woodwork, paintings, beadwork and more. Vendor booths are located at the River Walk Extension, near the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Building and the Shops at Rivercenter.
