The River Walk glistens year-round at nearby La Villita Historic Arts Village, a long-time shopping treasure worthy of exploration, conveniently located on street level above the Arneson River Theatre. By the late 1870s, La Villita was a thriving neighborhood of artisans such as watchmakers, cabinet makers, and stonecutters who both lived and worked in the little houses. The 18th-century tree-lined cobblestoned walkways of La Villita (little village) is home to talented metalsmiths - artists who bend and shape metal into fantastic designs. Equinox, housing the studio of owner and artist Alejandro Sifuentes, features his work alongside studio jewelers from across the country, and San Antonio. As you gaze at the shimmering pieces, it’s hard to believe that object of your desire was once a hard lump of unpolished metal. From the pristine polish of silver so shiny you can see your reflection in it to the iridescent, peacock luster of black Tahitian pearls, each piece is more beautiful than the next. What makes Equinox’s collection shine is not just silver and gold, but the options to complement those metals—such as mother of pearl, abalone, or an array of gems and minerals—the artistry will provide lasting enjoyment. When it comes to jewelry, a favorite is B&C Leather Designs and Unique Finds, featuring a mix of jewelry and leather goods, most of which are handcrafted by Bobby and Claudia Brown. The talented couple create gorgeous pieces onsite in a small studio just off the showroom. Handpainted leather bracelets will catch your eye, but you’ll also be dazzled by the different colors and textures of leather they use to create everything from earrings to belts and more. They also feature goods from other artists they know, carefully curating a collection of jewelry from other craftspeople befitting of the business name, “Unique Finds.” B&C also offers customized pieces crafted in-house, working with you to create a piece just for you.
