Hopefully we will be singing these sort of lyrics whilst enjoying the fine Summer weather wherever & however you are spending the remaining Summer months.

We have lots of exciting events & classes coming your way as always from our wonderful region. Jacqui who runs the popular Twistin Tots classes is again holding her annual musical picnics & this year with proceeds being shared between Rainbow’s Hospice and Belper Community Hall. Be sure to check the events section for further information. As I was writing this edition it struck me what a range of activities there are on offer his time, so plenty to keep everyone happy.

We have a number of swim schools in this edition, People for Places Leisure Centres, North East Derbyshire Council, Puddleducks and Sammy’s Seals each offering something different for you & your little ones. At this time when a lot of you will be enjoying a splash in the sea, or an outdoor pool on holiday we need to be reminded particularly of water safety and swimming lessons are a key part of this.

This edition also brings a number of editorials from Flow Motion, Chesterfield Children’s Physiotherapy/Sammy’s Seals & Fly on the Wall Photography which are a great way of not only learning about the person behind the business but a bit more about what they have to offer to your family.

Lastly I just want to talk about that front cover...truly stunning and a reminder of how special it is to capture those memories you are making. Good luck to any new school starter in September, the start of an exciting journey for you & a great time for others to start a new class or activity.

Matlock Musical Picnic

The Whitworth Centre, DE4 2EQ FREE musical event aimed at families, parents, carers and grandparents with children aged 0-7. Come along with your own picnic and rug for a musical extravaganza using a variety of props and songs to engage and entertain your children. A 60-minute music session, followed by play and picnic in this beautiful park. Aimed at younger children, but all welcome. Although this is a free event, we traditionally try and raise money for children’s charities via a donation bucket. This year we are supporting Rainbow’s Hospice and Belper Community Hall. Wildlife Wednesday

Longshaw, Burbage and the Eastern Moors Join the rangers to find out about some special inhabitants and tick off some of your 50 things to do before you’re 11 3/4. The

August summer is alive with wildlife! Start from the welcome building (in the main Woodcroft car park car park) or in front of the cafe and follow the signs to find the rangers out and about on the estate. Wear clothes suitable for the weather and feel free to bring a picnic and blankets. This event will involve a walk, from 0.5 - 1 kilometre, to join the rangers out on site, along wide and wheelchair accessible, although sloped and bumpy paths. jenny.gerrans@nationaltrust.org.uk Thu 8th August 10am-4pm

CHaOS Science Roadshow

National Tramway Museum, Crich, DE4 5DP Cambridge Hands-On Science (CHaOS) are a group of students from the University of Cambridge, who are keen to share their passion for science! This summer they are bringing their roadshow to Chesterfield Museum and aim to make science relevant and fun with exciting hands-on experiments for kids and adults too! Summer Reading Challenge 2019 An out of this world adventure comes to Derbyshire with Space Chase!

Derbyshire Libraries are launching into outerspace for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, with The Reading Agency. This year’s theme is Space Chase, an out-ofthis world adventure inspired by the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.

The storyline features super space family, The Rockets, on a thrilling mission to track down books stolen by mischievous aliens.

All libraries in Derbyshire will be running the challenge from Sat 13th July to Sat 14th September. The challenge is for children to read any six library books during the summer holidays. They can read any books they like, whether they’re interested in

stories, fact books or picture books, and whether they would rather listen to an audio book or read a printed book or an eBook. It’s up to them!

Children who take part will get a free Space Chase collector folder, with clues to help find the aliens, uncover the missing books and complete the mission. Children will collect amazing stickers along the way – all for free.

A medal and a certificate will be given to everyone who successfully completes their mission. Good luck!

A little about me My name is Adele McCarthy-Watson and I confess - I am a total memory hoarder and over shooter.

I always find myself a little on the awkward side of the line, outgoing and extrovert when I need to be, but forever the creative introvert at heart. I am a major empath, I adore people, but I battle the need to just retreat from people at times. Photography is a perfect combination of people-loving and dark room space editing, it keeps me in my good place.

My business name comes from a love of capturing special moments that often people do not see, seeking a human’s character, finding the ‘real’ in the image. This is what I love to do. I am obsessed with light, connection and honest images. I find the magic in the imperfection and it’s often those imperfect images that my clients love. I wanted to create an experience that was all about the adventure. Sessions with me may be a little different to what you have had in the past. I centre child and family sessions around the children, they are very child-lead, so expect fast paced and high energy, full of movement, laughter and interaction. And when those quiet moments happen, I’ll capture those too. My approach is very un-posed, but don’t worry, I provide direction. I’m never married to a concept, I try to carefully read the vibe and work with you to find your authentic experience.

I am not a big lover of myself on camera, and I can completely empathise with those of you that feel this way too.

However as my children grow I realise I need to set an example to my kids to be at ease with who I am and stand proud. More recently I have made a big effort to get in the frame with my children and my husband.

They deserve for me to exist in images with them, to keep those memories alive. If you are like me, definitely get a session booked in, get in the frame and love yourself because as your family grow, they will want see you were there.

I have 3 children and a husband, who are my world. My youngest is often featured on the feed as she is my star location test shooter and my little shadow. You may see my eldest on shoots making short films as she is the budding filmmaker. The middle one, he plays anything electronic with a side of rugby. My hobbies include Dance, Cheerleading and Gymnastics and I help to run a club in the village where I live. The club is fairly large now and has many coaches working across the many disciplines. My favourite thing about being part of the club is seeing the kids grow in confidence. It’s a happy place and a complete break from photography to recharge.

So one of my 2019 goals was to try and be a little more open, so I figure this is great place to start.

My other goal was to develop my business brand.

This is work in progress but I am loving the journey it is taking me on.
