Welcome to Titchy Town – an interactive role play centre based in South Derbyshire. Titchy Town is an indoor play village designed especially for little ones up to 8 years of age. Children can freely explore six different play zones Titchy Town is designed to allow your child’s imagination to run wild whilst they role play in a safe environment. You can participate in your child’s play, or just sit back and watch them learn as you enjoy a mug of freshly brewed tea or coffee and an amazing homemade cake from our little coffee shop in a covid safe environment.

How it works
We are based on the site of Scallywags Private Day Nursery in Chellaston (Rowallan Way, DE73 5WX). Please use the Scallywags car park and you will find the entrance to Titchy Town off Rowallan Way by following the signs. Disabled and pushchair access is available.
Titchy Town works on a pre-book via website and pay on arrival basis with sessions lasting 90 minutes. On your first entry you will be issued a loyalty card and for every nine sessions you attend you will receive your 10th entry free of charge! Payment is cash only.

Welcome to Issue 54... January to March is usually a quieter time of year but Derby still offers plenty of events and places for you and your families to get out and about and explore!
Derby Theatre have lined up some fantastic shows for children aged 3+, including; Zog, Pinocchio and The Emperor’s New Clothes (See page 7). An exciting new class for under 3s starts at Déda this month called ‘Sense of Calm’. It’s an opportunity to meet other parents in a small group and quiet cafe setting with access to a calming sensory space. More groups are restarting and the Lots on Weekly pages are filling back up. However, most groups still have limited numbers and are operating a booking system and/or waiting list so please do check before you set out. Miss Julie from Beat Feet Academy of Dance in Mickleover has been a long standing supporter of Lots for Tots Derby and on page 21 she shares the fantastic news that the Academy is again a Dance School of the year Finalist! On page 15 you’ll find the details on how to enter the annual Kip Mcgrath competition to win a family cinema ticket! Finally, Easter will be slightly earlier this year so look out for the Spring issue in the first week of April.

Museum of Making A terrific train extravaganza with lots to see and do for all. Find out about the fascinating history of the railways in the Railway Study Centre and from exhibiting guest railway organisations. Discover how model railways are made and have a go at some making activities. For younger visitors, there will be a railway-themed STEAM Tots session (1011.30am) and a family trail to get your little ones all puffed out. Beat Feet Academy of Dance Mickleover Dance Academy in International Competition Beat Feet Academy of Dance have been celebrating after being selected as Dance School of the Year Finalists for the 8th consecutive year! The Mickleover Dance Academy
was chosen after the competition’s judges considered dance schools from Europe, Canada, Australia, USA, Bahrain, Malaysia, Finland and India. The judges praised Beat Feet Academy of Dance for its wide range of subjects available to students including Ballet, Tap, Modern Theatre, Irish Dance, Zumba Kids®, Zumbini, Street Dance, Acrobatic Arts and the recently launched Boys only class. The Academy even caters for
children from just 9 months old! The Academy’s Principal Julie said “We were thrilled with the news as the standard of the competition is so high! To be selected from schools all around the world is absolutely wonderful. I am so thankful for the recognition given to everyone (staff and students) who have worked so hard through the most difficult times in the pandemic and have continued to deliver incredible achievements at the Academy.” The Academy is now enrolling new students for 2022.

Note from the Editor; Laura. Lots for Tots Derby is a franchise business. ‘What’s a franchise?’ I hear you say! Well, it’s when an existing, already trading business model is copied and sold giving the new owner the right to sell a company’s products in a particular area using the company’s name. Popular franchises you might know are McDonalds, KFC, Spar - I bet you can think of lots now! When you buy a franchise you are, effectively, buying yourself a job - you get the franchising materials such as a franchise agreement, franchise operating manuals and detail operations and franchise training manuals & support, then off you go! I’ve been the franchise owner of Lots for Tots Derby for 5 years in May 2022. I am / was an engineer before but I was on maternity leave and as I have no family or support structures around me in Derby I knew I would find it difficult to go back to an 8-5 job and when I saw that Lots for Tots Derby was up for sale I knew it was a perfect opportunity to buy myself a flexible role and an established business. Now that I’ve owned the Lots for Tots Derby Franchise for 5 years I’m permitted to sell it on to someone else. My children are older and now at school so I’m looking for someone, who has young children who is able to buy the franchise from me and become the new Editor of Lots for Tots Derby.
