First-yearstudentsfit into colleg.elife by John Lindsay arts & entertainment editor
The flood of first-year students has taken the campus by storm. It seems the first-year students are everywhere, with a class size of 227 people. Meeting people seemed to be the main concern of most of the first-year students. "I was really scared when I first got here because I didn't think that I would make friends," first-year student Becky Raetsch said. "But now our whole floor is friends." "If one of them goes someplace we all go someplace. We all get along really well, "Raetsch said "It's good because I'm away from home and the people are really nice," first-year student Joe Pilson said. "Everyday is getting ·better as you meet new people," first-year student Brandie Plasket said. For the most part, the new students said they really enjoy the company of the upperclassmen and each other. "The people are great," firstyear student Gavin Mirigliani said. "Best time of my life." "My high school was a lot bigger than this, so I thought getting

to know people and getting in with the upperclassmen was going to be hard," first-year student Michelle Schaeffler said. "It's really not. I know all the OCs, and everybody is really nice here." Students did not seem to have trouble moving in. "Moving was easy," first-year student Laura Matteucci said. "I
like the people so far." The trouble did not seem to be with moving in. It was with leaving home. "I'm adjusting okay, but I was really scared and homesick," Plasket said . "It was difficult being away from home," first-year student Brian Hopkins said. "It gets better everyday. You meet more
people and it improves." "I was homesick at first because I am from Massachusetts, but now I am getting used to it," first-year student Danielle Nesbitt said. "Moving from high school to college took some getting used to I'm a bit homesick," first-year student Stephanie Piechowski said.

Getting along with your roommate is always a concern. "It's really nice and I get along with my roommate," first-year student Kristi Theis said. A few of the students do not mind living in a triple. "Living with the three of them is good," Piechowski said. Some the students are enjoying their academic life here at Cabrini. "Classes are great," Mirigliani said. "The classes are small, which is good, because I need that," Pilson said. Some of the first-year students have changed as far as their personalities. . "I am more out going than I was before," first-year student Sean Favretto said. "1'm meeting more people." For one student, culture shock is an issue. "The only thing I don't like about college so far is I'm from a different city that no one has ever heard of, and some people make fun of my accent," first-year student Kelly Gallagher said. "I say 'pop' instead of soda." It was best summed up by Mirigliani, "College i's awesome!"
