Yellow keychains were distributed to students with TAXl's phone number by the Student Government Association. TAXI runs from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., on Friday and Saturday nights to provide a service for those students who need a ride home and prevent them from driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Cabrini College Bookstore was not open for business on Thursday, Nov. 14 and Friday, Nov. 15. According to Nancy Gardner, director of admissions, the Bookstore opened over an hour late for the Open House on Sunday, Nov. 17. Rosemary Hagan, bookstore manager, said she became ill and could not come to work for those two days. Hagan said she had every intention of coming for the Open House but she became sick during church and could not make it. Hagan said she did not have any of the student workers' phone numbers so she was unable to contact anyone. Gardner said that although she knows that Hagan's position is difficult being the only manager, she was dismayed that there was no notification of the problem. The Open House program included a plug to stop by the Bookstore. Accessibility to all of the facilities is important to attract prospective students. "People have a desire and

there is lots of competition out there if we're not meeting it," Gardner said. Junior Frank Sciolla, a student employee, had the key to the Bookstore and opened it by Gardner's request. Sophomore Courtney O'Conner, originally scheduled to give a tour, volunteered to work in the store for the day although she is not an employee. Jayda Zazyczny, senior, has worked at the Bookstore under the supervision of two previous managers and ran the store during the transition period between former manager Jennifer Stevens and Hagan. Zazyczny said that the student workers have had keys in the past. "I'.m afraid of the keys getting into the wrong hands," Hagan said. When she became the manager, Hagan said'sh~ most of the keys back and had the locks changed. According to Hagan, the student worker who closes the store at night has a key. Zazyczny said that the key must be returned to the bookstore the next morning.

Admissions refocuses energy for new campaign by Lisa M. Rose staff writer

After the small freshmen class this year, the admissions office is initiating new strategies. "Come visit," is the new theme for recruiting students this up-coming year in Cabrini's admissions office. "We have rewritten all of our publication and communication pieces to encourage prospective students to come visit the campus," Nancy Gardner, director of admissions, said. The recruitment process is an 18-24 month cycle. The admissions office has been working with the class of '92 since of their junior year in high school. This process begins in April of their junior year with an Open House for the prospective students. They encourage the students to come back for an interview. "Last October, 63 students attended our Open House,"

Gardner said. "Out of those, 41 students applied and the November Open House brought 78 students. Sixty of those students applied. This average is very high," Gardner said, speaking of the rate of applications from those who visit. Emphasis is placed on visiting the campus. "Visiting helps the student decide quickly if Cabrini is for them," Gardner said. These students usually come back for interviews, and then apply. This year, the admisssions office has restructured its contacts with prospective students. "Last year we weren't following up with phone calls until February," Gardner said. "This year we have a new computer system and we are contacting students within two weeks after their visit and interview. We remind them that we haven 'treceived their application," Gardner said. The admissions office has three categories of prospectivestudents:

Nancy Gardner, director of admissions The first is inquiries, students who send in the coupon found in catalogs or have called requesting more information. The second are leads, students who have shown an interest in Cabrini by visiting or sending SAT scores to the school, (this is where the "visit" message is
