Welcome
As we look at the year that has passed we are grateful of the 2nd consecutive record setting calf, bred and cull prices and the well overdue summer moisture. With still reduced cow numbers in the US we are hopeful that these prices will stay for another couple of years. As you flip through our bull sale catalogue it is our goal that you are seeing the evolution of our two programs that are consistently looking at the demands of the cattle industry. Both of our programs have looked to acquire genetics that are focused on where the cattle industry is heading. Whether you are a seedstock producer or a large or small cow/calf producer, it is our goal to be moving the needle for what your program needs.
With the combination of these two purebred programs, that offer both yearling and two-year-old bulls, you should feel confident in the product you are buying. Both of our programs have been built on a strong female base bred to elite Gelbvieh bulls. We are continuously striving to find new genetics that allow us to provide the best possible bulls that will add profit to your bottom line.
For those who don’t know about our programs:
Nelson Gelbvieh has a long-standing tradition of producing top quality commercial and seed stock bulls. They have acquired some of the best bulls in the breed that have produced high selling bred females in The Gathering, year over year. This year they have over 30 top quality yearling bulls.
Pin to Point Gelbvieh is a smaller yet progressive program that focuses on quality with an extensive A.I. and embryo program. They have gone on to find top quality females from programs all over North America to create a solid female base. Calving in March and April, has allowed them to focus on developing 2 year-old bulls with high standards, the 8 bulls on offer this year are elite herd sire prospects.
All bulls will have a semen and breeding soundness evaluation done prior to the sale. We will have a supplement sheet of current weights that we will post on our website prior to the sale.
We want to thank everyone for your continued support throughout the years and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us:

Meet Mr. Friendly, a bull known for his great temperament with a solid build. He offers good balance and efficiency. He’s been showing a great growth rate, gaining an average of 3.73 lbs. per day. On 6 calves his grand-dam has a weaning ratio of 101 and a yearling weight ratio of 106.

A son out of Joy Ride that is moderately framed, dark red and one of the high gainers in the pen. With a stacked pedigree on both sides this guy will have a few friends come sale day!

This son of Konvoy comes with a small head and a moderate frame with a good hip. Genetically all his traits but one are above breed average! His dam is a moderate framed cow with an excellent udder and has a weaning ratio of 106.

This is the only bull in the sale that is sired by Star General. This bull has great rib capacity. He comes from a great cow family with his grand-dam having a weaning ratio of 101 on ten calves and a yearling weight ratio of 106. His grandsire, Masterplan 58C adds even more pluses to his genetics!

expected progeny difference

This guy is one of the first DDN Belly River Konvoy 213K calves that we’ve raised. Konvoy’s sire, Driver 133D is a bull that we raised. He was born in 2016. Right from the start we knew that we wanted a son from Driver that we could use in our herd after Driver had gone down the road. We waited and waited and finally in 2022 Konvoy was born. We have been very happy with the results. DDN 419M is a lot like his dad. He is good footed and dark red with a real tight sheath. His granddam 680S was extremely productive and raised 15 calves. He is above average on most traits on his genetic profile!

This is the first bull calf that we kept out of RWG Joy Ride J510 who we purchased, early season walking rights for, from the 2023 Draft Picks Bull Sale. We are very happy with the results. Not only do the perform well but they are very moderate framed, clean fronted and well put together. Each Joy Ride calf in the sale is out of a first calf heifer. DDN 404M is known for his calm nature with good conformation. He has a weaning ratio of 110. His grand-dam’s weaning ratio on 5 bull calves is 105. EPD’s on 404M show him in the top 3% for CED and top 20% for BW.

This guy has a good hip and a moderate frame, traits that he gets from his sire, Joy Ride. The Joy Ride calves are collectively the highest gainers of all sire groups. DDN 423M is in the top 5% for CED. His granddam is consistently weaning calves above average.

This bull will attract a lot of attention on sale day because of the combination of his low birth weight (CED in top 5% of the breed) and his high rate of daily gain. He comes from a strong lineage; his grand-dam has a weaning ratio of 107 and he carries genetics from SLC Masterplan 58C

JAB Lotto 4L, is a bull that combines a low birthweight (85lbs) with performance. He is backed by RWG Hashtag who we walked for 2 breeding seasons and RWG Captain who was the 2016 Canadian Bull Futurity Champion. Both these bulls were utilized in our program to add performance and capacity. His dam JAB Golactic 305G has now produced several bulls that have made our bull sale pen and continues to impress us with the performance she adds to her calves. Lotto is a bull that will add capacity and length to his calves well keeping birthweight moderate. He currently ranks in the top 1% for weaning weight and 3 % for yearling weight EPDs. This bull will make a longstanding impact on the calves he leaves in your program or the pounds he leaves on his calves sold in the fall.

JAB Lightening 14L ET, is our only red bull on offer this year, and he is a great option for those looking for red genetics. He is backed by our donor cow, JAB Jasper 430J ET who goes back to SLC Parkland 31E and SLC Masterplan 58C. From this flush, Jasper has become a standout in her overall capacity, and flexibility when she is out on the move. Lightening sired by Empire, from the Nowack Cattle Company in Missouri, was the US National Champion bull in 2020. This combination of genetics has resulted in a bull that can be used on cows and heifers that will add style, hair, and capacity to his calves. We liked Lightening so much as a calf, that we used him as a clean-up option on our heifers. Right from the heart of our ET program, don’t miss out on a bull that could do a lot of good for your program.

JAB Limited Edition 22L, is a bull that has gotten better with age. After coming off pasture, he has really hit his stride and is very noticeable in our bull pen. He patterns very similar to his sire RWG Hashtag well having more capacity and depth of rib. We were always looking to add performance in his cow family and Hashtag did a great job. Limited Edition, ran clean up with some of our cows last year as we looked to add in substance and natural muscle. We are excited to see what he does in our program and we believe he will add that performance to his calves that will pay dividends and cash in your pocket come fall.

25L ET

JAB Lucky Star 25L ET, is a bull that took years to produce as we have layered on genetics in our ET program from SLC Parkland 5E, PHG Enigma and now RWG Hashtag. This is a bull that adds width and length through his top and when you get behind this bull he carries that width right down to his base. After losing his dam the year he was born, we used Lucky Star, on some of our top donor cows that go back to SLC Parkland 31E and we are excited to see what this bull can do for our program. His full ET sister is now in our program and we are excited for her potential to continue on with where her Dam left off. With a weaning weight EPD in the top 3% expect his calves to have growth and add pounds in the fall!

Ledger, another RWG Hashtag sired bull, was one of our heaviest weaning and yearling bulls in a year where drought had a significant impact in our area. Expect Ledger to add length of spine, performance and growth to his calves.

HOW TO BID IN A TIMED AUCTION
Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.
Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.
Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max
Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process. Example of How the Max Bid Works - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.
WATCH LIST FEATURE
If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.
SALE ENDING / CLOSEOUT
Most FarmGate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding.
What is Racehorse Style Close? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.
How will Extended Bidding work? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.
BIDDING CLOSE & FOLLOW-UP
After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions. Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale manager and/or Sale consignor.
BIDDING OPENS AT 9:00 AM MARCH 14TH - CLOSE-OUT BEGINS AT 6:00 P.M. ON MARCH 15TH
