Five Love Languages
BY NOAH HERNANDEZ
Love comes in many different forms. There is romantic love, familial love, and neighborly love just to name a few. Everyone shows somebody loves in one way or another, but how love is communicated would be what makes all the difference. In 1992, Gary Chapman came up with the concept of the five love languages. They are words of affirmation, acts of service, receiving gifts, quality time, and physical touch. To learn what your love language is, take the quiz on page (X) or visit 5lovelanguages.com.
Words of Affirmation
If one’s preferred method of showing love is words of affirmation, then flattery would be the way to go with them. Phrases such as “I love you” and compliments are how they would show somebody that they love
Acts of Service
It will be the little things that truly count with the people who prefer to show their love through acts of service. Helping out with the chores, making dinner, and helping out with pending tasks are the methods
Recieving Gifts
Those who prefer to show love through receiving gifts might seem materialistic, but it is more than just getting a random gift. The sentiment, thought, effort, and quality are all taken into consideration when receiving a gift.
Physical Touch
People who prefer to show love through physical touch will gravitate more towards hugs, pats on the back, and affectionate touches on the arm or shoulder. They most likely will get near to anyone they feel attracted to or that they consider close to.
Quality Time
These people consider time to be incredibly precious, and so they want to spend it wisely. Being attentive when they want your attention and being sure to check in on these people is what will show them that you love them.
Knowing your love language and the love language of those around you can help you when expressing your affection or gratitude towards them. It helps to know what their preferances are so that when appropriate, you know how to treat them.

SENIORS
BY LEILANI CALIXTO
For many high school students, senior year is the grade most people look forward to a senior trip, last banquets, last vespers, senior prank day, a graduation and so much more. This year it’s very different for the class of 2021 with online school and no gatherings. However, we can look back on the great years we spent together and be thankful for them.
Seniors were asked what event they missed the most. 40.5% of the seniors surveyed said they missed Havasu the most. Lake Havasu is the senior class trip taken while the other students are MAP testing in the fall. Others also said they missed campout, handshake, banquet, Jr./Sr. Bible Camp, class games, government trip, talent show and vespers.
On a scale from 1-5 on how motivated they felt for school it seems as though also 46% of seniors surveyed answer a three. 21% answered they have no motivation at all, and 3% said they were very motivated.
On a scale from 1-5 for how worn out seniors feel at the end of the school day, 43% said they needed a nap at the end of the school day, 3% answered that they were ready to keep going. 31% prefer inperson learning and 3% enjoy distance learning. 12% answered that they’re struggling with mental health, and 9% said their mental health is great.
Some students have been having difficulties this year including, personal fitness, trying to keep grades up without motivation, the fatigue from staring at a screen all day, checking all the different platforms, working through the stress, and the lack of interaction. There are also some positives that have come out of distance learning including, more sleep, schedule flexibility, getting to stay in bed during free periods, no classes on Wednesdays, more independence, and more family time.
All seniors surveyed are attending college next year, 72% are staying in California, 28% are not staying in California. 19% are moving abroad and 81% are not moving abroad.
Although senior year hasn’t turned out like students thought it would, they can still enjoy the little things. Knowing that all seniors are going through this together seniors can lean on each other for support.
