INTEREST RATES ARE UP - How is it affecting the housing market?

INFLATION, RECESSION, HIGH INTEREST RATES - All scary words you hear in the news. However, recession does not equate to a housing crisis. The sky is not falling. The last 13 years have been the longest appreciating market. Although, historically still on the lower side, interest rates are hitting 6% and haven’t been that high since 2008.

As your neighborhood Real Estate Specialist, we are watching the market on a weekly basis. The market went from 200mph to 70mph. So, we’re still seeing multiple offers and bids over asking in many cases. But instead of 10-20 offers and $100-200k over asking, we are seeing 2-4 offers and $20-$50k over asking (depending on the property). Larger homes with large lots/big yards are still selling better, because people are still working from home and have a need for more space.
