Following the tremendous success of the first Sussex Music Festival last summer raising over £400 for Cancer Research, Sussex Music Festival 2017 is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever! 500 people are expected to descend at Copthorne Prep School Saturday 29 July from 12.00 noon to 8.30pm to see 24 local bands play across 2 stages, supporting St Catherine’s Hospice Crawley and British Heart Foundation.

In addition to a variety of local bands playing anything from Blues Rock and Indie music to pure rock and roll, this family friendly festival will also feature bouncy castles, children’s entertainers, and face-paintiers. Grown-ups can also take advantage of the festivals two fully stocked bars, and professional catering for all the family throughout the day. AND for the first time this year, a separate acoustic stage will feature local artists hand-picked by staff from Hospital Radio Crawley.

Collect the clues and solve our library mystery to win a medal!

This summer children will be challenged to solve a mystery at their local library with the Animal Agents gang. Bart the Bloodhound, Daisy Rabbit, Bernice the bear and Slip and Slide the snake twins, need help to sort out a mystery down at the library. There are four suspects but children will need to use all their detective skills to work out the clues and solve the crime!

Animal Agents: the Summer Reading Challenge starts in your local library on Saturday 15 July. It’s free for all families to take part and you can collect fun rewards as you read books through the holidays. Best of all, children are free to choose whatever library books they like!

After registering for the challenge children will be rewarded with a special Animal Agents wristband. They then collect clues about the mystery as they read books through the summer, coming back to the

library to tell us what they’ve read.

Special stickers – some ‘scratch and sniff’ – will help you solve the mystery.

Children will be able to crack the crime after they’ve read six books and we will reward them with a special Animal Agents certificate and medal.

The Summer Reading Challenge is free and an easy way to make sure children enjoy reading during the long summer holiday.

Children can choose and borrow any books they like and your local library has a great selection waiting for you - from picture books for pre-schoolers, stories and comic books for older children and information books about every topic - the choice is yours!

The really little ones can join in too with the Animal Agents Mini Challenge, collecting stickers as they share library books. When they complete the Mini Challenge libraries will reward under-threes with a special ‘gold medal sticker’ and certificate – so they can be just like their big brother or sister!

The importance of swimming The ability to swim is an invaluable life skill for young and old alike. Not only does it provide an incredible cardio workout for the body but it is also essential to children’s safety, with drowning being the second leading cause of unintentional death in children up to 14 years of age.

At the Horsham Swim School, we recognise the importance of this and are dedicated to providing relaxed, fun, swimming lessons for children and adults of all ages in luxury, private Pools. Our goal is to promote water safety and accurate technique whilst instilling water confidence and a love of the water!

As many parents may already be aware, Horsham currently has a real shortage of Swimming Classes for children due to a lack of Swimming Pool availability.

The good news is that the newly refurbished ‘Morriswood’ Swimming Pool has just opened in Old Holbrook, North Horsham and is the preferred venue of the Horsham Swim School, who currently have availability for lessons from Monday to Saturday.

‘Morriswood’ is a luxury, private Pool

that is kept at an ambient 33 degrees celsius, giving babies, children and adults the opportunity to hone their swimming techniques in comfort. The Pool has been specially designed with Swimming coaching in mind as it sports four individual Changing Rooms and ample parking located within the tranquillity of the countryside.

Horsham Swim School only employ very experienced Swimming teachers, many of whom are mothers themselves, and run small classes with a maximum of 6 Children – this keeps our classes sociable, whilst allowing the Pupil to have more than adequate individual attention within a nurturing environment.

If you choose us to instruct your baby or young Child, our Instructor will be in the Pool with you to guide you at every stage of your journey, allowing peace of mind for you as a Parent, whilst making the lesson fun and interactional.
