Celebrate in Italy

warm, sweet crepes, Liberty Public Market has something for everyone. Paraná Empanadas, a crowd favorite, serves 14 different, absolutely delicious Argentinian empanadas. They’re perfect for shopping (and snacking) on the go. Try the Malbec beef, which is ground beef marinated in Argentinian wine for 24 hours, and dip it in savory chimichurri sauce.

Street’s beloved Piazza della Famiglia, and surrounded by some of the best Italian cuisine on this side of the Mediterranean, it’s fitting that Little Italy Food Hall’s campione is a Milanese pizzeria called Ambrogio15. Their 48-hour rising process creates some tasty dough. Go for the “paper thin,” which is a creamy and savory Burrata prosciutto pizza.

Park campus is home to Park Commons, but you don’t have to work there to enjoy everything that this food hall has to offer. Check out All Spice at Park for delicious Mediterranean staples. The Israeli salad, made with red onions and feta, pairs delightfully with the savory, mouthwatering pork souvlaki.

Q: What’s your go-to drink from Mess Hall? Samantha Gabryelski: I’m pretty simple. I love our margarita. It’s the same recipe company-wide for Blue Bridge Hospitality: tequila, fresh lime juice and agave. At Liberty Public Market, it pairs nicely with tacos from Wicked Maine Lobster, Bopjo, The Pig’s Gig or Cecilia’s.

Fun for All

u Carlsbad’s beloved windmill started spinning again this past fall, and locals are loving it! Windmill houses an incredible array of cuisines ranging from poke and pho to sandwiches and tacos, but Cross Street Chicken and Beer, which serves a Korean twist on American fried chicken, is a favorite spot. The Classy as Cluck fried chicken sandwich with herb mayo and cheese is big enough for two! WINDMILL 890 Palomar Airport Rd Carlsbad, CA 92001 www.windmillfoodhall.com

Q: If there was a day where the calories truly didn’t count, what item(s) would you indulge in from Mess Hall and Liberty Public Market? SG: A glass of Brut Rose paired with the Macaron Fraisier or Ludi’s Macaron from Le Parfait Paris. Q: What are three must-try drinks from Mess Hall? SG: The Blackberry Bramble—it’s a ginbased drink that vodka lovers will fall in love with. The Italian Zombie, made with rum, apricot luxardo, falernum, pineapple shrub and orgeat, because who doesn’t love a good tiki drink? And the Georgia Peach; it’s a play on a Bee’s Knees that we make with bourbon, fresh lemon juice, honey, ginger and peach bitters. All these flavors together are delicious. Q: What’s the best way to try the most food in Liberty Public Market? SG: Bring friends! Order from different vendors, grab a large table and share.
