Petersburg Celebrates Completion of New Park-and-Ride PETERSBURG BY CAROLYN DAY PRUETT LNNUSA.com
PETERSBURG- On Tuesday, November 1st, the City of Petersburg celebrated the grand opening of the Multimodal Transit Center’s new park and ride deck. The transit center was built to replace the old Petersburg bus depot. The park-and-ride deck is intended to assist both commuters and the Commonwealth simultaneously. Commuters have the option to drive a shorter distance to the Transit Center and then complete their commute via public transit, lessening the stress that comes with driving long distances in rush hour traffic every day. Not only would reduced traffic take less of a toll on major roads and interstates, the park-and-ride option could also lower the number of single-occupancy vehicles
