I-20 Application

To apply for an F-1 student visa, international students must complete the enclosed I-20 application. The I-20 is your official invitation to interview at a US embassy or consulate for your F-1 student visa.
The I-20 application must be submitted with adequate financial support documentation that demonstrates readily available funds for educational expenses which the student is expected to incur during one year of study.
Long Island University is required to verify that you have adequate financial resources to meet the tuition, fees, and living expenses of your full-time program, and the living expenses of your dependents.
ALL APPLICANTS must submit the following before an I-20 can be issued:
1. International Tuition Deposit
2. Complete and Sign the I-20 Application
3. Copy of Passport Identification Page
4. Supporting Financial Documentation
• Bank statements must be in English and no more than 3 months old from the time of submission.
• Bank statements or other financial documents must be signed or stamped as official by the bank.
5. If you are currently in the US on an F-1 student visa you must submit the abovementioned documents and:
• Submit a copy of your current I-20
• Submit a copy of your current F-1 Student Visa.
• IMPORTANT: Contact your current university or school and request your SEVIS record be transferred to Long Island University. Your current university will ask for a copy of your LIU offer letter and School Code. The Brooklyn Campus School Code is NYC214F01742004 and the Post Campus School Code is NYC214F01742000.

The 2025-2026 ESTIMATED COST of ATTENDANCE for a single student at Long Island University (Fall and Spring), including educational and living expenses (but NOT including travel to and from your home country) is as follows:

** Includes estimated on- campus room (standard double), board (unlimited meal plan), transportation and personal expenses for 12 months.
*** Participation in the University’s health insurance plan is mandatory unless the student can provide evidence of active enrollment in a comparative plan that is owned, operated, and filed in the United States, in compliance with the Affordable Care Act, provides access to primary care in the tri state area, and includes coverage for medical evacuation, repatriation of remains. International athletes must also provide proof that the plan does not exclude injuries sustained during intercollegiate sports.
**** Eligible students may apply for dependent I-20s no sooner than the add/drop date of the students first semester at LIU. Please see the Academic Calendar for more information For dependents, add an additional $11,395 per year for your spouse or each child.
