Dependent I-20 Application

To apply for F-2 student visa(s) for applicable dependent(s), international students must complete the enclosed Dependent I-20 Application. The I-20 is your official invitation to interview at a US embassy or consulate for your F-2 dependent, student visa.

The Dependent I-20 Application must be submitted with adequate financial support documentation that demonstrates readily available funds for living expenses which the dependent is expected to incur during one year of living in the US. Eligible students may apply for a dependent Form I-20 no sooner than the add/drop date of the students first semester at LIU. Please see the Academic Calendar for more information. Eligible students must be in good financial and academic standing to apply.

Long Island University is required to verify that you have adequate financial resources to meet the tuition, fees, and living expenses of your full-time program, and the living expenses of your dependents.

ALL APPLICANTS must submit the following before a dependent I-20 can be issued:

1. Complete and Sign the Dependent I-20 Application

2. Copy of Passport Identification Page of the Student

3. Copy of your Dependents Passport Identification Page

4. Copy of Birth Certificates of Dependent(s)

5. Copy of Marriage Certificate

6. Submit Proof of Supporting Financial Documentation for your Dependent(s). Financial documentation must be greater or equal to $11,395.00 per dependent in addition to the funding required in the I-20 Application for the student’s tuition, fees, living expenses and health insurance.

• Bank statements must be in English and no more than 3 months old from the time of submission.

• Bank statements or other financial documents must be signed or stamped as official by the bank.

*All documents must be in English or translated into English by a certified translation company.
