In 2011, Little City’s Center for Health & Wellness, the first of its kind in the region, completed more than 430 oral health care examinations and cleanings, preventing unnecessary pain, countless cavities and oral surgeries. The primary health care team decreased emergency room visits by more than 50 percent and saw more than 600 patients, achieving significant cost savings. The result of this innovative approach: an improved quality of life for the children and adults at Little City̶the heart of our mission.

Little City also opened a therapeutic day school specifically for students with pervasive needs on the autism spectrum. The Center for Education collaborates with local school communities, clinicians and specialists to provide cutting‑edge educational services for students struggling in the current school system.

To generate support for our programmatic initiatives, the first‑ever “Hot Chocolate Walk for Little City,” took place alongside the 15/5k Hot Chocolate Race (organized by RAM RACING), drawing more than 40,000 Chicagoans. We look forward to another optimum event this year.

Friends, though our initiatives prove innovative, they are most importantly, responsive to the needs of the communities we serve. And we’re just beginning. In the coming year, you will hear about Little City’s obesity initiative, our plans for job creation and training, as well the development of our exciting business enterprises. The highlight will be our spring groundbreaking of a new, state‑of‑the‑art children’s home ‑‑‑the first installment of our Children’s Village Initiative!

Little City is able to remain strong and innovative because of the support of our generous donors. We thank you, and are looking forward to continuing to grow our capacity to meet the needs of children and adults with developmental and other disabilities.
