Syosset High School’s Students Against Violence Everywhere club recently held its annual “Peace, Love and Pizza Day,” an event designed to create a friendly, inclusive environment that discourages bullying behavior during lunch periods. “Peace, Love and Pizza Day” is held in conjunction with national “Mix it Up at Lunch Day” in which students across the country are encouraged to make a concerted effort to interact with new people. Thanks to funding from the Student Council, the SAVE club provided 10 large cheese pizzas to qualifying scavenger hunt winners in each lunch period. Syosset woman found murdered
A Syosset woman was found murdered in Baldwin on Wednesday, November 23rd and a Baldwin man has been charged with the crime. According to Nassau County detectives, police were called to the rear of 97 Merrick Road where they discovered the body Dean-
na M. Wingender, 25, of Syosset. Police have charged Raphael D. Oyague, 36 of Baldwin with murder 2nd degree. According to police, he beat Wingender to death with a hammer after they argued over sex.
