And so the adventure begins
Bedgebury, the National Pinetum, in Kent is the perfect place for an adventure. The collection of over 12,000 specimen trees - primarily conifers - sits among miles of trails and outdoor activities. So, Tonbridge Lions arranged for a group of 30 Ukrainian mothers and children (aged from two to 14 years of age) to enjoy a fantastic day out in the forest location.
Tickets were provided for cycle hire and to the Go Ape facility. After a picnic lunch, everyone had time to play and explore. The Lions were supported by two local charities, with volunteers from Tonbridge Welcomes Refugees, and transport organised by Compaid.

Making magical memories at Kingsmour Playground
Children with disabilities or life-limiting illnesses have exclusive access to a lovely safe and secluded playground thanks to Yeo Valley Lions, who serve villages around Yatton in North Somerset.

Registered members of the playground are able to visit whenever they wish between April and October. Sixty new families signed up last year and organised groups are also allowed to schedule play sessions for around 20 children. The local authority’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Clubs and Activities Service (SENDCAS) runs a weekly Stay and Play Day in school holidays.
Recently, the Castle Batch Primary School Speech and Language Base held an end-of-term day at Kingsmour, where one parent praised the welcoming atmosphere and suitability of the facilities.
