Light Up Linton This Christmas!

This year, the Linton & District Progress Association (LDPA) is spreading some extra Christmas cheer with a brand-new festive challenge ... a Christmas Letterbox Lights Competition!

Instead of just decking the halls, residents are invited to decorate their letterboxes and help make our streets sparkle with holiday spirit.

Traditionally, Christmas decorations go up on Advent Sunday, which falls on 30 November this year, the perfect time to get creative and start lighting up the town.

If you’d like to take part and be in the running to win $100, simply register your address at the Linton Takeaway or by emailing linton.progress@gmail.com.

Judging will take place around 13–14 December, with the winner announced at the LDPA Christmas Barbecue on Tuesday, 16 December.

So grab your tinsel, fairy lights, and festive imagination, and let’s make Linton shine this Christmas!

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

President’s Report

As we reach the end of another month, I’d like to thank everyone who attended our last LDPA meeting It was wonderful to see such a good turnout

There are plenty of things happening in our community. While progress may sometimes feel slow, it’s important that we follow the necessary procedures to ensure everything is done properly.

The committee has recently met with Rod Ward regarding the renaming of the Railway Precinct, and that project is coming along nicely We also met with Ben Middleton to discuss ideas for improvements around the town As part of this, we took Ben on a tour of Linton to show him our priorities and to hear his suggestions on what might be possible

If anyone feels uncomfortable speaking up during meetings, please remember that you are always welcome to contact any of the committee members for a one-on-one chat. We value everyone’s input.

Coming Up

Town Garage Sale: Sunday, 9 November

Next LDPA Meeting: Monday, 18 November Register for Christmas Lights: from 30 November

Warm regards,

Margaret Jenkie

Shaping Linton’s Future Together

We’ve already taken action. After writing to Martha Haylett, we received a positive response thatledtoproductivemeetingswiththeCouncil.

Our discussions with Ben Middleton, Economic and Tourism Manager, Golden Plains Shire, focused on:

Promoting Linton and developing scenic walking routes to Mortchup Road Reservoir. Highlighting the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail, especially the stunning Linton–Pittong and Linton–Nimmons Bridge sections.

Exploring grant opportunities and Shire support

We also met Adam McSwain, CEO of Golden Plains Shire, to discuss:

The importance of the Linton Hub. Community concerns such as drainage, garden upkeep, and weed control

The need for a long-term, inclusive plan with clear budgets to boost economic sustainability and a healthy and positive community

We appreciate the support from Martha Haylett and the Golden Plains Shire, and we look forward to continuing these vital conversations.

Join the LDPA! Your ideas, talents, and constructive voice can help shape Linton’s future At our October meeting, we welcomed 16 members and visitors. Let’s keep growing together. Our next meeting is Tuesday, 18 November, at 7 00 pm at the Linton Hub.

Linton Pinks it up for the McGrath Foundation

A wonderful time was had at the Linton Takeaway on Friday 31 October where a large number of community members came together to enjoy a delicious morning tea to raise money for the McGrath Foundation.

This event was made even more special with a visit from the new Golden Plains CEO, Adam McSwain, who was very impressed with how well our community members are working together to make Linton the best town in the Shire.

GOLDBRUSH PAINTERS

The Goldbrush Painters Friday morning sessions continue to chug along with some interesting and arresting work being produced

Good luck to all those involved
