A special thanks to Design Publishing and Media Group for preparing this Program Guide, Website and Posters, for Lindon Days.
It is that time of year again when we come together as a community and celebrate Lindon Days. This is a wonderful opportunity to join together as friends and families and become reacquainted through a wide variety of events and activities during the week of August 5-12, 2006. When you attend and participate in the events you will find there is something for everyone.
Please look through the program we have provided for listings and times of the different activities. Some of the favorites are the Grand Parade, Huck Finn Fishing, Rodeo events, Carnival, Community Breakfast/Flag Ceremony, Golf Tournament, 5K Race and Kid Walk and the Dutch Oven Dessert Cook-Off with the final event being the Concert with Fireworks. There are many more events that will be fun and create memories that will last a lifetime. Those who are young of heart may find yourself going back in time reliving some of the memories you created in days gone bye.
We look forward to seeing you there. We thank everyone who has been a part of making Lindon Days the best ever.
From all of us at the city, We say, THANK YOU!

“A little bit of country”
Jim Dain was born and raised in the Edgemont area of Provo while Pam was born in Mt. Pleasant and moved to Orem where they became Junior High sweethearts. Their connection to Lindon started soon after their marriage. Pam writes, “We found our labor of love back in 1976. Jim was in school and I was working. Together we were raising a family. A home became available in Lindon. We moved in and began our life here. We fell in love with the people and personality of this great city. Often people would say, ‘Sell your old home and make some money.’ We found that life and friends in Lindon cannot be replaced at any price.”
“Several years after moving here, Jim was elected to City Council where he served for twelve years. During those twelve years our love for the city has grown, and forever friendships have been made. We love to stay involved in Lindon City and presently chair the Historic Preservation Commission. One of our most cherished keepsakes is a key to the city that was given to Jim by Mayor Ellertson and Lindon City. That key has a permanent spot attached to our front door.”
Pam continues, “Our careers have been good to us. I have driven a school bus for special needs children for 24 years and Jim is a licensed architect and has been working for Brigham Young University for 24 years. We have raised a beautiful family with the help of this community. Our four sons and one daughter are married and we are enjoying nine delightful grandchildren. They all live in Utah and are proud to say that they grew up in Lindon.”
“When we moved here 30 years ago an acre of ground cost $20,000, a share of water cost $200, and Lindon was part of the Pleasant Grove Stake. A lot has changed since then, but this is still Lindon. Thank you to those families who settled here and planted the seeds we harvest today. This is a great place to live and raise a family. Thanks to all of you for all you do to make it what it is.”
The Dain’s contribution to Lindon City has been greatly appreciated. Many Lindon residents might have read of Pam’s efforts to save the Harris Home from demolition. The following excerpt is from the booklet Lindon Historic Sites: “At one time the house was slated for demolition. The bulldozers were on the site. Pam Dain, a Lindon resident with an interest in historic architecture and antiques, was driving her school bus (with no children aboard) when she saw the demolition crew at the home. She pulled the bus between the house and bulldozers and asked the operators to wait until she could make a few phone calls. Pam single-handedly saved one of Lindon’s few remaining examples of architecture of the earliest period of Lindon’s history. The home was eventually dismantled and the stones were used to construct the pioneer home that sits in Pioneer Park at 150 South 500 East.”
Jim was the architect for the Lindon City Center. He was also the architect for the remodeling of the old storage building which is now Lindon’s satellite fire station. As a couple they have turned a run down home into a showpiece that has been highlighted in a regional magazine and brings joy to many Lindon residents as they pass by. Jim’s fellow co-workers within Lindon City government say that he has the ability to focus on issues, the clarity to weed out fluff and the commitment to get the job done. He has a calm and unruffled manner and a decisiveness that “cuts to the chase.” He is artistic but practical and his gifts of time and talents that he has given to Lindon has helped make Lindon unique and beautiful.
We are proud to honor Jim and Pam Dain for their unassuming contributions to our great city of Lindon.

We all have real “life needs”—especially when it comes to our finances. Some people need free checking, or perhaps a little help balancing a checkbook. Others need to buy their first home. Some start small businesses, while others experience financial setbacks caring for aging parents. Some need instant access to account information. Others just need the right place to set aside a few dollars for a rainy day At Western Community Bank, we recognize that “one-size-fits-all” banking doesn’t always work. That’s one of the things that makes us different. We care—and you’ll feel it in our service. So the next time you have a “life need,” draw a sigh of relief knowing there are people at Western Community Bank who care and will do all they can to help. Come build a lifelong banking relationship with us, and discover how refreshing personalized community banking feels.

When we were asked at the end of May to chair the Lindon Days Events, all we could see looming in front of us were the mounds and mounds of things that needed to be done—most especially the deadline for the Program Guide in less than a month. Our first meeting as a committee was no more comforting. Present were Eric Anthony, the City Council Representative, and three other committee members. In that one month we did the impossible. We got events, dates, and entertainment in place as well as all the ads and sponsors necessary for this years Lindon Days. The theme of this year’s events—Celebrating Community—is truly how we were able to get everything together in such a short time. It was truly a community effort. Businesses, city government, and citizens came together to help out.
A special thanks goes out to Lisa Tebbs, Kiersten Armknecht, and Mark Standfield for helping us get the ads in place for the program guide and to Amy, Alison, and Seth at Design Publishing Group for answering our endless questions. We also need to thank all the businesses for their patience with us when we came a calling at their doors saying, “Would you like an ad in this year’s Program Guide? Oh, by the way, we need the ad ready for print in two days.” Glen Ricks Photography also made room in his schedule with one or two days notice to photograph and prepare the necessary photos.
While this year’s Lindon Days might not go down in history as the best ever, it might possibly become known as the best in community cooperation. Thank you Lindon Community for your support!

What is Team Roping? Two cowboys work together. The “header” ropes the steer’s horns and rides to the left. Then the “heeler” goes to work, roping both of the steer’s hind legs in one of the most difficult maneuvers in rodeo. Timing stops when the ropers “dally” (wrap their ropes around the saddle horn) after the steer’s head and heel catches. A 10-second penalty is assessed for “breaking the barrier” (the head start for the steer), as well as a 5-second penalty if the heeler catches only one of the steer’s hind legs.
Join us for an exciting night at the rodeo. The concession stand will be open, so come and enjoy dinner while you watch the cowboys perform for prizes.

New this year to the Lindon Days activities is a contest known as Little Bits of Lindon. Your job is to find and identify the larger versions of the little bits of the photographed images—building facades, fragments of signs and other landmarks in Lindon.
1st prize will be in excess of $400 (Cash and prizes). 2nd and 3rd prizes will be awarded.
Sponsors to date are: Western Community Bank, Sun Roc, Low Book Sales, Haun’s Automotive, SCRUBBS Car Wash, Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual and Arby’s of Lindon.
The rules:
1. Match the Little Bits of Lindon clues with the real thing. All items can be found within Lindon boundaries. No clues were photographed of individual residence. All are of commercial properties. Everything pictured can be seen from the outside but not necessarily from the road. You will need to get out of your car. The boundaries for the clues are from 600 South to the Pleasant Grove border on the North and from 200 East to 2000 West.
2. We hope the items pictured have not been removed, bulldozed, or painted over by the time you go looking. The pictures should be accurately reproduced, but remember that the time of day can have an effect on the item.
3. Identify each clue with its exact location such as street address, name of building, etc.
4. Include your name, address, and daytime phone.
5. One entry per family only will be allowed. Drop off answers in a sealed envelope to Lindon City Center or Wells Fargo Bank in Lindon by 5:00 pm Wednesday, August 9. No entries will be accepted after August 9.
6. Winners will be announced Saturday, August 12 at 8:00 pm during the Concert at Lindon Park. You must be present to win.
7. If more than one entry correctly identifies all the clues, winners will be chosen in a random drawing at the concert.
8. Copies of clues are available online at www.lindondays.org You can view the clues through out the city at various business locations.
9. Good hunting and have FUN !!

The Lindon Historical Preservation Committee has obtained copies of a 1902 book that was found a few years ago in the attic of the old R obison Home (now Los Hermanos Restaurant). It is a record of minutes from meetings of the "135th Quorum of Seventies, Lindon Ward, Alpine Stake" and covers meetings from 1902 through 1910. The book contains over 60 pages of minutes, membership recor ds, ordination dates, etc. Dozens of local family names are found in the book, such as Cullimore, Dittmore, Fage, Harris, Parcell, Walker, Harper, Kirk, Johnson, and many others. A copy of the book may be purchased for $5.00 at the Lindon City Center.

Brandie Frampton is Lindon’s very own homegrown Country/Pop Artist, going back 6 generations in Lindon, Utah. Starting out at a very young age, Brandie has always loved to sing. With great support and encouragement Brandie has been able to pursue her dream. She has released one CD in 2004 entitled “Everything’s Fine” and has been invited to play at many venues.
Brandie recently returned from Nashville, where she finished recording her second CD entitled “Day By Day” with Producer/Songwriter, Andrew Lane, which is going to be released Fall 2006. While Brandie was in Nashville she was honored to be able to showcase for Sony BMG.
Brandie has also been busy making a video for her song “What U See”, which will be played on CMT and many more stations. Make sure you stay tuned for more to come from Lindon’s little Superstar, Miss Brandie Frampton.
The Brandie Frampton Band was formed in 2004 and has recruited the best. They have been very busy with practice and rehearsals and their time invested has truly paid off. They were invited to play for The Virgin Record Megastore at Disneyworld in Florida and they recently opened for Joe Diffie at the Silver Lake Amphitheatre in Eagle Mountain, Utah. The band, with Brandie, is currently preparing for their European Tour with Sony this Fall.
Brandie is very fortunate to have such a strong band behind her, and watching them perform together shows how great they all get along. It’s more like a second family!
