Helping You Be SEEN, KNOWN & HEARD

Hi Friend,

I am so thrilled that you've picked up a copy of BOSS LADIES MAGAZINE. As I sit here reflecting on the journey since our last issue, I am filled with gratitude and a deep sense of purpose. 2022 Boss ladies Gala was a huge sucess with almost 200 guests. 35 BOSS LADIES received my celebrity photoshoot experience and were honored at the GALA. We raised $10,000 for Dove House, and empowered several small business owners to never give up. None of this would have been achievable without the unwavering support of God, my family, my team, and you, our cherished reader.

In the past year, I have experienced significant milestones, including turning 40, transitioning to full-time entrepreneurship, and gaining my US citizenship after waiting 23 years! These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of stepping into our true selves unapologetically and fearlessly.

Despite the challenges of the past few years, I am energized to continue my mission of helping fellow small business owners like you be seen, known, and heard. The BOSS LADIES photoshoot experience, the gala, coaching program and our content creation efforts are all part of this journey to help you build a bankable personal brand.

Speaking of which, I'm thrilled to share that come April, we'll be launching a done-for-you content creation service at our new ~2000 sqft studio on Madison Ave near Downtown Indianapolis. If you've ever felt daunted by content creation or unsure of what to post, this service is tailor-made for you. Just like everything else we do, the experience begins with a consultation to craft the perfect brand/marketing plan to elevate your influence and realize your business and life aspirations.

In this issue, you'll find stories of empowerment and resilience from cancer survivors, a cause that have grown nearer and dearer to my heart since our support for PINK RIBBON Connection began in early 2023. Through multiple fundraising activities and proceeds from all my photoshoots last year, we've been able to support breast cancer survivors across Indiana. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for PINK RIBBON Connection so they can to continue providing essential supplies and resources to those touched by breast cancer around Indiana. With your support, I'm confident we can achieve this, just as we raised $10,000 for DOVE Recovery House For Women in 2022.

You'll also encounter tales of remarkable women making waves in their respective fields, tirelessly working to make a positive impact in our lives. Their determination and drive inspire me endlessly, earning them the title of BOSS LADIES.

Finally, I want to express my deepest gratitude to God, my family, my team, PINK RIBBON Connection, our 2024 Gala sponsors and auction item donors and our beloved readers. Your unwavering love, support, and belief in me have been the driving force behind everything we've accomplished. My hope is that the inspiring stories within these pages ignite a fire within you to pursue your God-given purpose with fervor. Never lose sight of your light, for the world is waiting to bask in its brilliance.

I have been a breast cancer survivor since December 29, 2018. I’m one of the lucky ones. I was not consistent in doing selfexams but somehow felt compelled to do one that December. I thought I found a lump and had it checked out the day after Christmas. It wasn’t a tumor but they found one hiding behind it during that exam. It was nearly undetectable but was confirmed in ultrasound, along with a second mass and some abnormal lymph node tissue. The radiologist said he was 99% sure it was cancer. I had a miserable New Year’s Eve, dreading the year ahead, and hoping it wasn’t my last.

When I received the biopsy results that indicated stage one cancer in one of the lumps—but not in the other, nor in the lymph nodes—I whooped with gratitude. They must have thought I was seriously crazy or in shock, but I was so happy that the cancer hadn’t spread. I had cancer but I immediately knew I was one of the lucky ones. My cancer was triple positive: HER2, estrogen, and progesterone positive. I had stage one lymphedema

I’m so lucky to have a squad of amazing women and an incredible family who carried me through my treatment. During treatment, I worked with an incredible team at Butler University, including two celebrity dogs. Managing cancer and a full-time job was possible due to their patience and support. There were many days when I had chemo brain and zero energy--and some of that remains today. I have a tribe of female friends who have been there every step of the way—filling my freezer with food, celebrating the end of radiation with champagne and cake, dropping off lunches on my desk, calling, texting, sitting with me at treatments, and loving me through it all. I’ve been inspired by my friend who had a kidney transplant, and never lost hopealong with my late father who fought heart disease all his life but stayed strong and smiling throughout.

I know I’m one of the lucky ones, but not everyone is. I feel called to help and support other cancer patients and survivors, and to advocate for patients and research. I’m hopeful that the breast cancer vaccine will eventually eradicate cancer, and want

following radiation. I am the only person in my family to have ever had cancer.

Since January 2019, I’ve had a lumpectomy, 12 weeks of chemo (taxol), 4 weeks of daily radiation, Herceptin infusions for a year, and took Femara for 14 months. I’m battling the side effects of an anti-estrogen drug, and still get Zometa infusions. I finished my major treatment in May 2020 and received clear scans on July 31, 2020.  I continue to fear recurrence.

I met so many superheroes along the way and found my strength. The St. Vincent Healing With Fitness class for survivors helped me start moving again, and I also completed the YMCA Livestrong class. I’m honored to be a member of Indy SurviveOars, Indiana’s only breast cancer dragon boat team. My teammates and coaches, all survivors, have inspired me to push beyond my physical boundaries and I’m excited to get back on the water this season after a temporary hiatus. The dragon was a symbol to me during treatment and I feel that everything has come full circle.

to do my part to ease the suffering caused by cancer. My journey lit a passion in me for healthcare. I joined the Indiana University Health marketing team nearly two years ago and have found my new home. I am inspired by the mission and values of this incredible organization and it gives me a renewed sense of purpose. I volunteer for breast cancer organizations in the community, and have been honored to serve on the boards of the Pink Ribbon Connection and Catherine Peachey Fund. Being involved in the community, advocating for research and supporting survivors, is the great joy in my life.

Please do your self-exams, get your screenings, trust your intuition. Just get it checked. If you can, donate to support cancer research or volunteer to drive someone to treatment or sit with them. Let’s band together and help those who aren’t as lucky as me.

My favorite saying during treatment was the following: “Fate whispers to the warrior, "You cannot withstand the storm." The warrior whispers back, "I am the storm." -Stephanie Judge Cripe

Barbara Boyd is an Indianapolis icon with a distinguished career of 25 years in television consumer news reporting for which she was honored as the first African American female to be inducted into the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame. But today, Barbara's accolades are for her other, and longer, notable success. Her battle with breast cancer followed three years after she began her television reporting career. Compelled to create awareness, Barbara reported from her hospital bed a groundbreaking feature on her own mastectomy several days after the surgery, a courageous report that earned her the first of four CASPER awards in her career. Her breast cancer experience made her a stronger person. Indeed, Barbara is a beloved journalist, a woman of distinction, and a courageous, inspiring survivor, who happens to be 94 years old! Barbara is a 51 year survivor.

After having three family members previously diagnosed, Gladys Clement wasn't necessarily surprised when she was diagnosed with Stage Il triple negative

BRCA2 breast cancer. During a selfexamination, she discovered a lump on the left side of her breast. With chemotherapy she experienced fatigue, extreme chemo brain and significant stress every day. Her family was very present and helpful during her breast cancer journey. Her son, Gabriel, just 12 years old, was her most constant supporter. She even had her surgery on his birthday! She encouraged herself to keep her faith and keep moving. Doing so made her realize that at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is God and her walk with God. Gladys is a calendar model in the 2023 Pink Ribbon Connection Breast Cancer Survivor Calendar and chose the verse from Philippians that says "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" as the inspirational phrase on her calendar page. She has experienced countless uplifting moments from all the prayers

and support that she received from people during her treatment. She found it especially rewarding when the kindness came from those individuals she didn't necessarily expect to have her back during the tough times. Gladys is a grateful 1 year survivor.

Lisa Elliott was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, just a few weeks after her co-worker was diagnosed. Lisa's older sister had advanced breast cancer and unfortunately, succumbed to the disease. She thanks her son, who flew in from the west coast along with her family, friends and co-workers who supported her on her cancer journey. They made her care baskets during her chemo treatment and each one touched her heart. She worked all through her treatment, except for a few days after her surgery. There certainly were days when she did not feel like getting out of bed but as she looks back now, she knows it was a blessing to have a reason to get up and get dressed! She also did Pilates all through her treatment and feels this helped her both physically and mentally. Now, she tries to just enjoy life. There are still down days when she worries about the cancer returning but Lisa tries to keep busy and not dwell on that- but admits that she is not always successful. After her lumpectomy she renamed her left breast, Little Lefty. Lisa retired in 2021 and thinks it is the best thing ever. Lisa is a 9 year survivor.

Lissa Sears felt her lump in 2014. After chemo and a double mastectomy, she chose flat closure because she felt it was the safest option for her. Lissa is currently an actor, podcaster and comedian. She founded Flat Out Love with a couple of Flat friends and in less than 2 years they have over 3500 members that are living the Flat life. Lissa's biggest challenge was the battle she faced with her MS being made worse during her cancer treatment. At one point she could not even walk. Laughter and positivity is how she faces any adversity that comes her way!

Lissa and her team put on the largest Flattie's meetup in Colorado, changing over 100 lives. Lissa has said it before and she will keep saying it-cancer was a positive for her and helped her find her purpose. Cancer will make you bitter or it will make you better, and it has made her better. Cancer has taught her it's not YOLO, it's YODO. You only die once but you live every day, so take all the chances. Lissa is a 9 year survivor.

Teia Stapleton was being vain about being tan the summer of 2011. While rubbing on bronzing lotion, she thought she was imagining a large lump that seemed to have appeared overnight. After some sleepless nights, Teia decided she was going to put on "her big girl panties" (one of her Mom's favorite sayings) and fight this with ALL her might! During chemotherapy, Teia knew that when she had gone almost a week of not washing or brushing her hair and keeping it in a ponytail due to fear of it falling out that it was time to take charge. She let her kids cut her hair short and then had a friend shave her head like Gl Jane. She was bound and determined to not look like she was going through chemo, so she made sure to wear makeup and look good every time she went in for her infusions. In March 2014, Teia had a recurrence. She again put on her fighting gloves, and now has some new perky ta tas! Teia is so thankful for her family which includes her friends and her "work family". Teia is both a 12 year and a 9 year survivor.

Dawn Hughes was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, just a few months after she was married. She quickly realized that her vows, for richer, for poorer, and in sickness and in health were all about to be played out in a New York minute. When she heard the words, you have cancer, she realized she was going to be the star in her own reality show. Her treatment consisted of surgery and six rounds of chemotherapy all while enduring numerous complications. It was God, the support of the awesome medical staff at

Methodist Hospital, her work family, friends, family who prayed for her, supported her, fed her, laughed, and cried with her which made the battle easier to fight. When she was able to ring that bell, she tried to bring it off the wall to let cancer know it had absolutely picked the wrong chick. Being diagnosed with cancer has taught her to live life like there is no tomorrow and to be grateful for everything God has given her and everything else to come. She tells those who have been diagnosed with cancer that you became a SURVIVOR the day you were diagnosed. Cancer does not equal death but survivorship. Dawn is a 7 year survivor.

Teresa Stewart is a two-time breast cancer survivor, initially diagnosed in 1988 and again in 2005. She credits her sister, who died of ovarian cancer in 1985, with saving her spiritually and physically. Her sister's death from cancer encouraged her to have a mammogram. She was only 34 years old when her first cancer was diagnosed. Her initial treatment included a bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction. Her second battle in 2005, began when she found a lump in her arm pit which resulted in the removal of lymph nodes and 8 weeks of radiation that left her severely burned and in pain. Teresa is retired from the United States Post Office, where she was a mail carrier for 36 years. Teresa is a 35 and an 18 year survivor.

On a Friday evening in early October 2021, Dawn Holt dropped something on the floor and felt a lump in her right breast when she went to pick it up. She was later diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Her treatment included chemo, followed by a right-side radical mastectomy and radiation. She had no family history of breast cancer. Her parents, friends, and church family all provided care and support for her. She also participated in individual counseling and group sessions through Cancer Support Community. Pink Ribbon Connection and Pink-4-Ever have served as valuable resources

for her by providing a network of "sister survivors", informational sessions, and community engagement opportunities. She encountered challenges at every stage of her treatment, struggling with dehydration during chemo, developing an infection after her mastectomy, having to have her tissue expander removed and then experienced extremely painful burns from radiation. She still has an elevated heart rate and mobility restrictions in her right arm. Her faith, prayer, and actively participating in weekly worship services has been the most helpful. Dawn has a much greater appreciation for life now! She feels tremendously grateful to be alive and cancer free. She is truly compelled to live life to the fullest! Dawn is a 2 year survivor.

the same week. She was blessed with a great support system, including her husband of 55 years, Jim, her siblings (she is one of 12), and friends, but especially her sister since she was going through treatment at the very same time. They talked every day, kept each other motivated and compared notes and side effects. They worked out and shared stories, which made all the difference both physically and mentally. Chemotherapy was challenging. She found it helpful to eat well and to stay hydrated. Being diagnosed changed her life. Now she has more empathy for others and appreciated her family, friends, and her health. Dr. Erica Rager asked her if she would be a part of a TV Commercial for Franciscan Cancer Center which showed her ringing the bell after her final treatment. It was aired on channel 6 during a Colt's game and prompted lots of well wishes and supportive comments. Mary is a 2 year survivor.

Research Program. Jeanie is a professional skater and has been a member of the Circle City Roller Derby since 2009, skating under the name Bona Contention. In 2010, she performed the National Anthem before the Colts vs. Chiefs football game. The invitation came the day after her paternal grandmother passed away from breast cancer. Jeanie is a 22 year and a 3 year survivor.

In 2018, just two months after starting a new job, a routine mammogram and a follow up biopsy, Tabitha Arnett was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. After consultation with her physicians, she chose a double mastectomy with reconstruction. Her greatest challenge during her breast cancer journey was helping others understand that early-stage breast cancer is still cancer. Whether it’s radiation, chemo, or surgery-cancer treatment is a unique and scary journey for every single woman who goes through it. As a survivor, she is a stronger advocate for early detection and routine screenings. Her husband of 11 years and stepchildren were her rocks during her journey. Her faith in God also kept her focused and strong. Shortly after her surgery, her husband and his daughter introduced her to a 3-month old puppy that was available for adoption. She fell in love with those big puppy eyes and took him home immediately. She named him “Champ” after her breast cancer journey. Boxers are fighters and so is she. Breast cancer survivors are ALL Champs! Speaking of champions, despite being told to take 4-6 weeks off work, Tabitha went back to work 13 days after surgery, with drain bags hidden under her top. Tabitha is a 5 year survivor.

Rian Hahn was surprised by her breast cancer diagnosis. She has a family history of colon cancer, so she always figured it would be that.

A friend told her about Casting for Recovery, a group that hosts healing outdoor fly-fishing retreats for women

with breast cancer. She never dreamed she would get picked for one of their weekend retreats, but she was. She learned there that for women who have had surgery or radiation as part of their breast cancer treatment, the gentle motion of fly fishing can be good physical therapy for increasing mobility in the arm and upper body. She is now a volunteer for Casting for Recovery and has enjoyed many of their activities. She has also rediscovered her passion for photography. She creates t-shirts that say “Act like you’re the third elephant trying to get on Noah’s ark and it just started raining.” For Rian, breast cancer was the spark that got her to try things she never tried before. Making her willing to take some risks - like kayaking file miles (she did great)!

Breast cancer has helped her learn to fully live life and appreciate each and every day. Rian is a 2 year survivor.

Maria Boyzo was taking a shower when she felt a lump on the side of her left breast. She was diagnosed with triple negative, BRCA positive breast cancer in 2018. She underwent 16 rounds of chemo which left her incredibly sick and abnormally tired. All she wanted to do was crawl into bed and lay in a tight little ball, covered from head to toe. Her biggest supported was her husband. He attended all her appointments and accomplanied her through the darkest moments of her battle. Her boss, coworkers and some very close family members were also a part of her support system. She thanked God for giving her the strength to endure. The most difficult aspects of her journey were her hair falling out and undergoing the bilateral mastectomy, realizing she no longer had breasts. At only 31 years old, she struggled emotionally with this loss. She was not prepared for either. However, her search for God during this time allowed her faith to grow stronger. When her hair grew back very white and curly, she decided to straighten it. However, after looking in the mirror with the new hairdo, she laughed so hard when she realizes she had Chucky hair! Maria is a 5 year survivor.

Stephanie Probst was diagnosed with HER2 triple positive, stage 4 breast cancer in 2013. She celebrated her 10-year cancerversary last December. Cancer has changed her body, made her sick, and has even made her think of giving up a time or two, but it has also let her meet the best, craziest and most interesting people she now calls family. We have been there for each other in the good times and bad, laughed together, cried together and maybe drank a few glasses of wine together. She’s learned to step outside her box and try new things, like walking in a fashion show, modeling for a calendar, ziplining, and stepping way out of the box by skydiving. She also now proudly sponsors a motorcycle ride to raise awareness and funds for Pink Ribbon Connection. She can't wait to see what the next 10 years will bring. Stephanie is a 10 year survivor.

In 2021 following a routine mammogram, Kim Wargin, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy and with that, the removal of 12 lymph nodes, 16 rounds of chemo and 25 rounds of radiation. She underwent reconstruction surgery. She learned everything is a challenge from the diagnosis to the treatment. She suffered many side-effects of chemotherapy. She credits her husband, daughters, and family for their incredible support. She could not have made the journey without them. Her friends, neighbors, and medical specialists were the best anyone could ask for. She cried losing her hair and having the mastectomy. Her husband, Rob, helped her pick out wigs and learned to tie scarves. He continued to comfort her by telling her how beautiful she was and how much he loved her. Her family and friends have rallied around her and shown her so much love. One night they were coming home, and her husband decided to drive through the neighborhood. As a suprise for her, all of their friends had put up pink lights and ribbons to show their love. Kim is a 2 year survivor.

Art, Cancer, and Courage: How Frances Ruiz Found Inspiration and Purpose.

My name is Frances Ruiz. I am a Puerto Rican artist who’s here to tell you, “It’s never too late to start.” After years of creating art solely for recreation and spiritual retreat, I decided to focus on my art and become a full-time artist in 2020. After teaching art online to family and friends across the globe, I realized this was my path. I was 47 when I took my life in a completely different direction. I practiced law a few years and I worked as a professional translator for 10 years before making a change. Since I took this leap of faith (with the encouragement of my husband and fellow artists friends), everything has fallen into place and I see the work of God on every accomplishment to date. I am in complete love with my new career. I specifically love mixed media collage art and I create my own patterns and colors on paper to engage the viewer in a unique artistic visual representation experience. My upbringing in Puerto Rico and personal life experiences are the basis for my inspiration, so I strive to reflect my love for music, dance, nature, and the Caribbean.

In a short amount of time, I have received accolades I never dreamed I would receive. I received an award from the Hamilton County Artists Juried Show in 2023. I am honored to be selected twice for the Hoosier Women Artist Award by the Indiana Arts Commission and Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch. I have exhibited my artworks at Newfields Museum of Art of Indianapolis, among many other venues.

Currently, I am working on private commissions and on new artworks for future exhibitions. I am very passionate about promoting diversity awareness in my community, especially to create a positive impact for future generations of Latinos.

Why am I writing this? Because I hope my story will inspire and encourage. When I heard about the Boss Ladies Gala and that it was benefiting benefitting Pink Ribbon Connection of Indianapolis, I reached out to Victoria to be, if in a small part, involved with this cause. My mother, my aunt and my cousin have had breast cancer. While my mom and my aunt caught the tumor early, were treated and survived, my cousin was another story. At 47 she was diagnosed, treated and had survived cancer free for a few years. However, five years later, her cancer had metastasized to her bones and, after a painful battle, we lost her at only 53 years of age. Due to my mom’s history with cancer I have had a mammogram done yearly since my thirties. In 2021 my mammogram showed some tiny calcifications in my right breast. The tests confirmed I had atypical ductal hyperplasia in my right breast. Atypical ductal hyperplasia cells can evolve quickly to become ductal breast cancer. Therefore, surgical removal of the cells is the standard procedure to follow. I thought I was hovering over my own body when I heard the news. Though I am extremely fortunate to have caught this very early, I had to go through biopsies and be in the same waiting room as women who are actually fighting the battle. It has been the most overwhelming realization that, at any second, our life can drastically change. Though my surgeon successfully removed the cells, all is not in the past. Today, I have to have mammograms and MRI with contrast performed every six months, respectively. The C word is forever lurking in the background, so I need to be ahead of it. Therefore, my fellow woman, please get your mammograms yearly and self-checkups regularly.

The Power of Philanthropy: Boss Ladies Give Back

In the world of entrepreneurship, women-owned businesses are not just making waves; they're creating ripples of change that extend far beyond their world. As "Boss Ladies," we understand the power of purpose-driven leadership and the profound impact we can have on our communities.

Having dedicated my career to the nonprofit sector, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative potential of providing resources to organizations with powerful missions. This belief in philanthropy's power as a catalyst for change drove me to establish Sprout - a platform to empower emerging nonprofits and help them realize their true potential. Our mission is to elevate nonprofits that may feel overlooked in their communities, helping them authentically tell their stories of impact and reach new heights of success.

One defining moment that solidified my love for philanthropy occurred during my time with Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis. A young camper, filled with the spirit of generosity, donated her own $5 so that another girl could experience the same opportunities she had enjoyed. Witnessing the joy of giving back, even in its simplest form, left an indelible mark on my heart and reinforced my belief in the profound impact of our generosity to others.

A s female entrepreneurs, we have a unique opportunity to lend our voices and resources to causes that resonate deeply with us, driving meaningful change in our communities and beyond. How can you integrate a spirit of giving into your business?

Boss Ladies, I offer this advice: Start by volunteering your time and serving on the board of directors for a cause you care about. Your voice and your life experience are invaluable, and your presence at the table can spark meaningful conversations and drive impactful decisions.

A s a business owner, you likely have valuable skills and knowledge that can benefit these organizations in areas such as marketing, fundraising, strategic planning, or financial management. By volunteering your time and expertise, you can make a meaningful impact while also building valuable connections and expanding your network.

Another impactful approach is to designate a portion of sales to a charitable cause. For example, you could pledge to donate a percentage of profits from a specific product line or service to a nonprofit organization aligned with your values. This not only allows you to contribute financially but also demonstrates your commitment to social responsibility to your customers.

Another way to give back is by sponsoring community events or initiatives. Whether it's supporting a local charity run, arts festival, or educational program, sponsoring events not only provides valuable financial support but also helps raise awareness for important causes and fosters community engagement.

Ultimately, the key is to find a giving strategy that aligns with your business values and mission, and that resonates with your personal passion. Whether it's through financial contributions, sponsorship, volunteering, or a combination of these approaches, integrating philanthropy into your business not only benefits your community but also enriches your own sense of purpose and fulfillment as a female entrepreneur.

By actively engaging with organizations aligned with your values, you'll discover new avenues for making a difference and leaving a legacy far beyond your own business. Together, let's unleash the power of philanthropy and create a brighter, more compassionate world for all.

What's Your Morning Routine?

Feeling like your day is a whirlwind of chaos? Are you far from being a morning person, and the sight of chipper early birds annoys you? Been there, done that. I vividly recall my junior high days, when my family had to resort to drastic measures like dumping water on my head just to get me out of bed on time for the school bus. Ah, the stories they can tell…

But as I've matured, I've come to appreciate the wisdom passed down from my parents and grandparents. It's funny how we only grasp the value of their lessons as we grow older.

One such lesson echoes from both sets of grandparents: "Successful people rise with the roosters" or "Seize the moment." I truly understood this during my years of commuting over an hour each way to work. Consistency in my morning routine became vital; the days I overslept left me feeling off-kilter.

Now, working alongside incredible colleagues at Southwestern Consulting, the correlation between a solid morning routine and productivity is crystal clear. According to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the average American spends a significant portion of their day at work. Therefore, our work experiences profoundly affect our lives, underscoring the importance of habits.

Consider this: a positive start to your day often leads to a fulfilling workday and a rejuvenated evening. Conversely, leaving work drained or disheartened diminishes your ability to engage fully at home.

Hence, establishing a morning routine is key to success, both professionally and personally. Here are some suggestions to kickstart your day on the right foot:

-Start with positive affirmations as soon as you wake up.

-Incorporate journaling, reading, or devotion into your morning routine.

-Make your bed and hydrate before your morning brew.

-Engage in physical activity, meditation, or stretching.

-Prioritize a nutritious breakfast.

-Resist the urge to check emails immediately.

-Prep for the day ahead the night before.

What morning rituals resonate with you? Until next time, rooting for your success...Becca Goldsberry.

Navigating the Perimenopausal Phase with the Four Keys to Well-being Shift

Navigating perimenopause can be a challenging journey, filled with unexpected symptoms and changes that can take you by surprise. If you're a woman in your late 30s, 40s, or 50s, you might relate to statements like, "Why am I awake at 2am? This is unbelievable!" or "I can't seem to shake off this bloating after just having my favorite salad. What's happening?"

The stages of menopause, as outlined at Lane Regional Medical Center Hospital in Zachary, Louisiana, include pre-menopause, characterized by a regular menstrual cycle and high estrogen production; perimenopause, a transitional phase with slowing estrogen production starting in a woman's 40s; menopause, indicated by 12 consecutive months without a menstrual cycle, typically occurring between a woman's 30s and 60s; and postmenopause, beginning after a full year without a menstrual cycle and continuing for life.

Perimenopause can be different for each woman, with hormone imbalances triggering common symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, vaginal dryness, and sleep problems. However, some may experience more unusual symptoms like itchy skin, cold flashes, digestive issues, brain fog, and even sensations akin to electric shocks. It's essential to be aware of these symptoms and take proactive steps to manage them.

The July/August 2023 ACSM Health & Fitness Journal highlights Lifestyle Medicine as a tool for health and fitness professionals to promote healthier lifestyles. It emphasizes adopting healthy practices in six key areas to enhance overall well-being and quality of life.

These keys have significantly improved my life over the past two years, enhancing my sleep quality and relationships. Incorporating multicomponent movements into your exercise routine can also be beneficial. Additionally, focus on eating a balanced diet rich in organic vegetables and fruits, high-quality protein, and anti-inflammatory options. Stay hydrated, and consider incorporating anti-inflammatory herbs like turmeric, ginger, and cinnamon into your diet.

Cultivating a positive mindset is also key. Practice gratitude and mindfulness, and surround yourself with supportive individuals. Engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment, and seek professional help if needed. By taking these steps, you can manage perimenopause symptoms and improve your overall well-being.

Unleash Your Inner Unicorn: Be Unapologetically You

Hey there, beautiful unicorns! Let’s dive into something super close to my heart and, I bet, to many of yours too. Ever felt like you’re a sparkling unicorn in a field of horses? Yep, I’ve been there. Rocking that horn when everyone else seems to fit the same old mold can feel like you’re a character straight out of the Island of Misfit Toys from that Rudolf movie we all know and love. But here’s the twist – being different? It’s your superpower.

I wrote a book called “Intentional Unicorn” because, like you, I’ve danced in those mismatched shoes. I tried so hard to hide my sparkle, to dull my horn, thinking that’s what I had to do to succeed. Spoiler alert: It didn’t work. I ended up feeling lost, tired, and, honestly, pretty blah. Worst of all, I wasn’t giving my all to the world, and that’s a loss for everyone.

But then, something clicked. I realized I didn’t have to be a horse. I could be the most fabulous unicorn out there – and so can you. I decided to own my uniqueness and let my true colors shine. And guess what? It was like finding a secret power I never knew I had. Being authentic brought me freedom, confidence, and a kind of joy you can’t put a price on.

Now, I’m on a mission – a glitter-filled, rainbow-powered mission – to help you and everyone else find that same magic. Imagine a world where we all celebrate what makes us unique. Where we don’t just fit in, but stand out and shine bright. That’s the world I want to live in and the one I want my kids to live in.

Being an intentional unicorn is all about embracing the real you. It’s about showing up as yourself, horn and all, and owning it. It’s about letting go of the idea that we all need to be the same to be successful. Because guess what? The real magic happens when we’re true to ourselves. That’s when we do our best work, inspire others, and truly make a difference.

So, to all my fellow unicorns out there feeling a bit lost in the crowd, it’s time to let your horn glow. Wear it proudly! Because when you do, you light the way for others. You show them that it’s okay to be different, to be themselves, and that’s the most powerful thing of all.

Let’s break the mold together. Let’s be our authentic, sparkly, unicorn selves and encourage everyone else to do the same. The world doesn’t need more of the same. It needs you, in all your unique glory. So, go ahead. Be bold. Be brave. Be a unicorn. And let’s make this world a brighter, more magical place, one sparkling step at a time.

Remember, being a unicorn isn’t just about standing out. It’s about standing up – for who you are, for what you believe in, and for the kind of world we all deserve to live in. So, fluff up that mane, charge forward with that horn of yours, and let’s show ‘em what we’re made of. Together, we’re unstoppable. Let’s do this!

Hi Barbie!

On a chilly, overcast day in Indianapolis back in 1999, I found myself knee-deep in holiday shopping for my bunch of nieces. Hours were spent meticulously selecting outfits, complete with matching purses and shoes, and of course, the essential doll. However, as I packed my car with these treasures, a sudden realization struck me - I had overlooked getting a doll for one of my nieces. Quickly, I dashed to Walmart to rectify the situation.

Navigating through the aisles in search of the perfect baby doll, my eyes were scanning rapidly until they came to an abrupt halt. My breath caught in my throat as I gasped in astonishment. There, right before me, stood an entire wall adorned with stunning Barbies, many of them Black!

I stood there in awe, tears welling up and cascading down my cheeks. It was an overwhelming moment of pure joy and disbelief. For you see, I didn't grow up with Barbies that resembled me. While there were Black Barbies in the 70s, they were few and far between. My family, consisting entirely of White members - from siblings to aunts, uncles, and cousins - never thought to purchase dolls that reflected my own identity. Every doll, from Barbies to baby dolls, was a mirror of their own features - porcelain skin, blue eyes, and flowing blonde locks. Even the one doll named Linda that I received for Christmas had the same fair features.

I am not Beautiful like Barbie – and everyone else.

As a child, I longed to resemble these dolls and my friends who played with them. I would stand before the mirror, attempting to mold my features to match theirs, lamenting my nose, lips, eyes, and hair that didn't fit the conventional mold of beauty. At the tender age of seven, I made a solemn vow to one day alter my appearance through cosmetic surgery, aspiring to marry a man with the desired attributes to ensure our children inherited them. But then, that fateful holiday shopping trip changed everything. Upon returning home, I shared my awe-inspiring experience with my husband, who, unbeknownst

to me, was deeply moved by my revelation. On Christmas Day, amidst exchanged glances and broad smiles, my husband and his mother presented me with a special gift they had saved for the occasion. With bated breath, I unwrapped the package to reveal a Barbie unlike any I had seen before.

She was a Working Woman Barbie, and she was Black! Clad in a reversible suit for day to night, equipped with a computer bag and laptop, and even capable of speaking phrases like "Making money is fun!" and "Don't forget to check your email!" - she was a symbol of empowerment. Despite her overzealous affection for Ken, which sometimes bordered on comical, she was a cherished addition to my collection. From that moment on, I began actively seeking out Barbies that represented me - from a sultry Black Catwoman Barbie to a dignified Judge Barbie, complete with a gavel and judicial robes. Each new addition brought with it a sense of validation and belonging that I had long yearned for. Today, my collection boasts 41 Black Barbies, each a celebration of diversity and inclusion. I even have one that actually looks like me – well kind of. While I've learned to resist the urge to liberate them from their plastic confines, I take pleasure in dressing and displaying them around my office, alongside representations of Lady Justice and other iconic figures. For me, these Barbies

signify more than just dolls; they represent a movement towards inclusivity and representation. Growing up without seeing oneself reflected in mainstream media and toys can have profound effects on selfesteem and identity. The importance of representation cannot be overstated, as evidenced by the groundbreaking research of psychologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark. In the 1930s, they conducted studies in New York City with dolls and black children. In the experiment, the Clarks handed black children four dolls. The dolls were the same except two had a dark skin and two had light skin. The Clarks asked the children questions such as which dolls were "nice" and which were "bad" and "which doll is most like you?" The results showed most black children preferred the white dolls to the black dolls. The children would say the black dolls were "bad" and the white dolls looked most like them. Never seeing representation of yourself as beautiful or as a positive role model proved detrimental to their self-esteem.

In a society that often promotes a narrow definition of beauty and success, it's crucial that children see themselves reflected in the toys they play with and the media they consume. By diversifying our collections and embracing representation in all its forms, we send a powerful message to future generations -and to ourselves - that everyone is beautiful and deserving of recognition.

So, the next time you spot a Barbie on the shelf, take a moment to consider the significance of representation and inclusion. If you have a young girl in your life, why not gift her a spectrum of Barbies, showcasing the diverse and colorful world we live in? Because every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the toys they play with and the stories they tell. (* Wink * and you too, treat yourself to a Barbie).

THE POWER OF RELATIONSHIP MARKETING

Would you rather have people buy from you, or you sell to people? This is a question that I ask business owners frequently. Of course, the answer is always I would rather have people buy from me. Having people in your sales pipeline that are ready to buy from you is the power of a well thought out and executed relationship marketing system.

Relationship marketing is more powerful than it probably ever has been right now. As we rolled out of the Pandemic into 2023, finding and closing new customer and clients has become more and more difficult. Why?

1. All the extra time and money that everyone had is now gone

2. Inflation, things cost more now

3. The talk of a Recession, people are holding onto their money “just in case”

4. Skepticism, there’s fear of AI and not knowing what is real and what is not, and our current political climate with the constant finger pointing and back and forth isn’t helping.

Now, more than ever, people are seeking referrals. I often observe individuals requesting recommendations on platforms like Nextdoor and local Facebook groups, aiming to connect with trusted individuals. Now is the PERFECT time to leverage Relationship Marketing. How? you ask. Here are four strategies I advise my clients:

1. A well crafted marketing message. If I don’t know who you help and how you help them, how am I going to be able to send you people who will want to buy from you? Here’s a good formula to follow: Tell me One type of client or customer you would like to work with (Target Market). Then tell me how you help them. (The solution you provide). And finally share with me what they will be saying or doing that will let me know that they may need your product or services AND what question can I ask to start the conversation. Arm enough people with this information and watch the referrals start flowing into your business.

2. Create your network deep and not wide. Most business owners spend so much time meeting new people in hopes that they connect them to someone they know, that they forget about the relationships that they have already developed. They assume that since those relationship already know what they do, that they will just keep sending them Referrals, or remember them when they run across a potential opportunity. WRONG. Out of sight out of mind really is true. Instead of spending your time meeting new people, dedicate some time and energy around reconnection with, and making deposits into the relationships you already have. It will reap you many more Referrals in a much shorter time than meeting 25 strangers.

3. Identify, develop, and train true Referral Partners. I hear these called so many things, but in my world here is the true definition of a Referral Partner – someone who does business with the same people you do business with, but they are not your competitor. Find these people, and you will increase your new business significantly.

4. Network Strategically. Stop going to any and all networking events. Your time is more valuable than that. Once you have identified your Target Market, go network where they are, or where the people who know them are. Your time as a business owner is one of the most important things you have, don’t spend on non-productive activities.

Using the four strategies above will allow you to put together a well thought out relationship marketing plan. All you have to do is implement it to have your best year yet in 2024.

5 TIPS TO ENRICH YOUR LIFE AND YOUR BUSINESS

I believe that women hold the keys to change the world! It will change when women step into their divine power. When we stop competing and start collaborating. When we give up our scarcity mindsets and hold space for all female business owners, we can start a movement where we all win.

I am often asked what tips I can give to others who are starting or running businesses, and that would take a book to write. So, I have chosen five things that I believe are foundational in creating a successful life and successful business. These will apply in either one or both and they are timeless.

1. Build Networks: There are two kinds of networks you want to build. Your support network and your business network. Those in your support network are the people who will help you in those times when you just need a little extra help. Then there’s your Business Network, the people you collaborate with, connect with, and learn from.

2. Practice Givers Gain: BNI's number one core value is Givers Gain; when you look outside yourself and find a way to give to others meaningfully without keeping score, you will find that it comes back to you from directions you did not expect. It is the very thing we used to learn in church at an early age, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” It increases the dopamine in your body, raises your spirit, and attracts others to you. It was this win-win value that inspired me to risk everything and buy the franchise 26 years ago.

3. Know Your Values: You must be clear about your values. Here are mine as an example: commitment, courage, curiosity, contribution, freedom, and fun. These values have shaped my life. Every decision must measure up against my values. I have turned down opportunities because they went against my values and embraced opportunities because our values were in sync! Never compromise your values.

4. Be Authentic: Be who you are and know your values and vision for your life. Don’t compromise your values and ethics to fit in. Find others who are like-minded and develop those relationships.

5. Be Resilient: Life throws a lot at us, especially women. We take on so much for our families, communities, and businesses. Being resilient is the key to success in your life. You may feel anger, grief, and disappointment but can keep going. It does not mean putting up with things and doing it alone. Resilience is strengthened by reaching out to your networks, finding lessons learned, and being grateful for all that you have already overcome to get where you are now.

Most importantly, take time for yourself and reflect on all that you have overcome to be where you are today. Take note of what you accomplished at the end of each day, look yourself in the eye, and congratulate yourself on a day well done regardless of what the day did or did not bring! You were there for it!

No One Knows Your Name? Let's Change That.

Oprah Winfrey. Quincy Jones. Daymond John. Bill Clinton. Disney. What do they have in common? All of them have responded to me in one way or another.

While consulting emerging businesses and brands, I cultivated my outreach technique, "The High-Low-Circular Method." This method is so effective that I've been asked to speak on it and have seen people often get same-day responses, while others can take six months to a year. The length of time depends on the accessibility of the targeted contact and the diligence of the individual.

No one can advocate for you like you. So put on the lobbyist hat by identifying an individual or business to contact, clearly knowing your ask, and then going High-Low-Circular.

The first thing to know about lobbying is that persuasion benefits both parties while manipulation only bolsters one. It is essential to keep this in mind when using your influence. When connecting with a contact, consider your added value and how they will benefit.

Write the name of your dream contact on a piece of paper. Stop and think of how to contact them directly; this is called High. Going High can mean finding an email address or sending a direct message through a social media app. Sometimes, it means being bold by calling and asking to speak to your contact.

Consider attending a conference or speaking engagement promoted by the contact and meeting in person at the event. When introducing yourself in person, remain calm and be able to say what you do in a six-word sentence. Beware of over-eagerness, which communicates desperation to some new contacts. Consider delaying publicly @DreamContact on social media as this is a last resort Hail Mary tactic.

If nothing comes from going High, then look at the company's LinkedIn page and select "People."

On the piece of paper under the contact, write down the

About the Author:

names of those that are "Low" ranking within the organization. Previous employees and interns are listed on LinkedIn and are typically happy to point you in the right direction.

Otherwise, request to connect with people with job titles who can give you answers. Once linked, ask who the correct person to message your request or invitation to is. If you are looking for a way to layer your contacts, consider inviting them to an event.

Event invitations are an excellent way to get responses from well-known contacts, as no one on their team wants to be the person who did not deliver an invitation. An invitation can sometimes push you to jump to the front of the line of those trying to make contact. During this stage, messages must be at most three sentences. Lobbyists' top mistake is length; their initial messages are too long. To reiterate, as a rule, if the message requires the reader to scroll down, it will not get read.

Now, draw a circle around those names with your targeted contact in the middle. Who are the people connected with the contact who do not directly work with their organization? The method's circular stage is where you connect with those identified in the outer circle. By becoming part of the outer circle, the contact in the middle will hear about you from them. Ideally, they will invite you to coffee by this time as they can not believe they are the last person to meet you. The circle phase takes longer but is highly effective as it feels more organic once connected. Wearing the lobbyist hat pays off in two things that are not always for sale: influence and access.

Now it's your turn- let's have some fun. Who is your dream contact? It doesn't have to be for business. Go through the steps of researching where there is a door and who comprises the outer circle. Reflect on what your strategy would be.

In this age of technology, the world is your oyster. Anyone is reachable; the more names you know, the more people know your name.

HERE IS WHY YOUR MARKETING IS NOT WORKING.

What is Marketing? If you answered marketing is about selling then you are wrong!

Marketing is not just about selling; it's about helping your audience solve their problems. If your marketing efforts are falling short, it's likely because you're approaching it the wrong way. Instead of focusing solely on selling your product or service, focus on articulating how it solves a problem for your target audience. This starts with understanding your solution, knowing your audience inside and out, and crafting a well-defined message that resonates with them. Consistency and a sprinkle of your personality into your marketing efforts can attract clients effortlessly into your funnel.

Too often, small businesses dive into marketing without a clear understanding of these foundational elements. As a personal brand photographer, I've encountered numerous clients who lack clarity on their audience, solution, messaging, and overall marketing plan. Without these fundamentals in place, investing in photography or any other marketing tactic is simply a waste of resources. Before you pour any more money into marketing, it's crucial to have these key components sorted out.

So, what should your marketing plan include?

First and foremost, you must know and be able to clearly articulate what solution you are offering. What problem does your product or service solve, and how does it benefit your audience? Next, you need to identify your target audience and understand where they spend their time. This knowledge will inform your messaging and help you create content that resonates with your audience.

At LiMStudios, we go beyond traditional marketing approaches by incorporating brand marketing activities into our strategies. Our Bankable Brand Academy offers an 8-week group program designed to build a blueprint for your brand and marketing. With step-by-step guidance and a hands-on approach, you'll develop a comprehensive marketing plan to elevate your brand presence and connect with your audience effectively.

But that's not all – coming in April, we're launching a done-for-you content creation studio tailored for creators and small business owners. Our team will handle everything from planning to editing, ensuring your content pipeline stays full with high-quality visuals and engaging posts. Additionally, whether you need headshots, group shots, or custom personal branding for you and your team (attorneys, doctors, therapist, etc), we've got you covered.

However, from adolescence through most of her adulthood, Michelle's path was not clearly defined. In the past, she allowed the pieces of life to fall into place, often taking a winding road as she followed her creative instincts with passion but without a concrete plan. She co-founded an arts & craft business with her long-time best friend and formed a band with a coworker (and won a battle of the bands), even though both ventures ultimately dissolved. This same laissezfaire approach spilled into her personal life, where she let external factors such as family and work dominate her calendar without taking ownership of her relationship with her partner.

This lack of intention with her husband left her feeling disconnected, detached, and unhappy. That's when Michelle discovered the transformative power of intentional planning through quarterly and yearly retreats with her partner. These purposeful getaways, focused on deepening connection and setting direction, not only strengthened their relationship but also allowed them to regain ownership over its course.

But Tracey's journey transcends mere business ownership; it embodies a commitment to excellence and empowerment. As a hands-on leader, she sets the standard by immersing herself in the daily grind alongside her team. She shares "I start my day with everybody else, if I need to go in the field or do hands-on work, I do it. I make sure I compliment everyone and I tell them how appreciative I am for them because without them, I would be nothing." Tracey pushes everyone to grow and offers ways to help her employees better themselves. Her ethos is clear: every individual, regardless of title or background, has the potential for greatness. This year, Tracey has provided her office managers with a unique chance for selfimprovement. She encourages them to select a personal or professional goal they wish to pursue and pledges financial support to help them achieve it.

Her latest endeavor, Kathy's Cupboard, stands as a testament to her unwavering dedication. Named in honor of her late mother, Kathy, a beloved nurse, this nonprofit mobile food pantry ensures access to essential resources for the vulnerable, without subjecting them to the indignity of long lines or physical strain. "It's a unit, a collective effort," Tracey reflects proudly. "My team dedicates a portion of their earnings voluntarily, and I match it through A Better Life Home Care. It's meaningful—it's our purpose."

Yet, Tracey's vision extends beyond the confines of her current endeavors. She dreams of establishing an adult day center and a community hub for underprivileged youth in Indianapolis' South East side. Her ambition knows no bounds, driven by an innate calling to serve others and give back to her community. "My calling is to help others in life," she declares. "It gives me purpose."

In Tracey's world, compassion meets action, transforming lives and communities one endeavor at a time. As she navigates the intricacies of her multifaceted projects, one thing remains constant: her unwavering commitment to making a difference, one heartfelt gesture at a time.

Kathy Miller

"My superpower is seeing things in others that they do not recognize in themselves and giving them opportunities to discover and practice their unique gifts.”

Kathy Miller started working in manufacturing at 17 years of age as an Industrial and Systems Engineering Co-op student. She worked in a vehicle assembly plant and immediately fell in love with the sights and sounds of the factory and the fact that every 60 seconds, a working vehicle came off the end of the line. She always said that if she could not be a rock star, she would want to be the Plant Manager of a vehicle plant someday.

Well, if the truth be known, she did not become a rock star, nor did she ever get to run a vehicle assembly plant. But she did get to do many fulfilling jobs along the way. She ran a vehicle electronics plant that was recognized with a Shingo Award for business excellence, served as a Global Vice President of Quality, Lean Enterprise, & Strategy Deployment for a $12B diversified industrial company, and was the Global Director of Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test for Rolls-Royce Defense. She has supported operations in over 25 countries, including as the General Manager for multiple plants producing millions of engineered seals. There, she and her team transformed the operation from a traditional batch manufacturing company to a lean enterprise, converting the culture from the traditional hierarchy to one characterized by inclusivity. Everyone in the operation contributed to improving the business to achieve impressive productivity and profitability. Then, with her friend and colleague Shannon Karels, she wrote a book about it: Steel Toes and Stilettos (Routledge, Dec. 2021). She was inducted into the Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame (2021) not only for her significant accomplishments in this field but also for supporting others to achieve success.

Kathy always wanted to study psychology, so she enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania's Masters of Positive Psychology program. Created by Dr. Martin Seligman, known as the Father of Positive Psychology and taught by some of the most preeminent scholars in the field, she became armed with the science of human flourishing.

Combining her impressive experience, business acumen, and knowledge of positive psychology, Kathy has started her own company, yk2020llc. These days, she works with businesses that want to improve their performance results through proven processes, sound leadership principles, and the science of well-being. She does this through keynote speeches, business advising services, and individual and group leadership coaching.

She is generous with her knowledge for anyone working to excel in the industry. She is often called upon to share her insights and passion with women's employee resource groups, human resource professionals, and executive leadership teams. She will soon be adding resources to her portfolio aimed at helping individuals with disabilities thrive in the workplace as well.

Keynote Speaker, Amazon Best Selling Author of Solutions Over Sides and Hope Loss enCourage Trauma and Adversity Coach.

How does self-love make your life successful? What is self-love? Self-love is an essential part of your health and well-being. Do you want to help others? Then serve them with your best self. True self-love is the result of introspection, self-compassion, and self-awareness. All of which need time, effort, energy, desire, and attention, by BetterHelp Editorial Team with additions by Ann Payton.

A healthy self-love outlook will keep us on the top of our game in life's ups and downs. The downs we encounter will, at some point in life, be traumatic. Maybe you have already experienced trauma or adversity in your life. Believe it or not, there is a reason and benefit that comes from trauma. Really? YES! Overcoming and healing from such experiences takes strength and perseverance. What is the benefit? We are better equipped to follow through with our purpose to help others. It is part of the soul of a woman. It is most likely part of your purpose.

What is my purpose? My purpose is to help women overcome and heal from trauma and adversity so they can live their best life. Solutions Over Sides is my journey through some of my most difficult traumas in life in book form. Why did I write it? l was afriad. I was in pain. I did not kow what to do. I didn't know who to talk to. I was ashamed. I as devasted. I was desperate. If only I had someone to hold my hand, help and support me with compassion. I needed someone who cared about what would happen to me.

I am the person now that I needed back then. I have overcome, and I have been healed. I needed my middleaged self from today to be there for me and speak truth and wisdom to me as a frightened 16-year-old girl, back many years ago. I want to be that person for women now who have experienced trauma. I am an expert on trauma and how to get to the other side. I am proof positive that there can be joy after trauma. I know how to help.

This is the message I would like to get out to women: Hey friend, there you are in pain, I see you wanting to reach out, but you are afraid. You feel all alone and do not know where to turn. You want to be heard but don’t want anyone to know. You are saying to yourself over and over, what am I going to do? You can’t get out of your head. You feel desperate. I can help you; I know. I’ve been there. Share with me, send me a message. Tell me what is happening. I will listen. If you or someone you know needs this message, share it with them. There is Hope. Let us all work together to empower women to be all that they can be. Every woman is a BRAVE GIRL. We have to be! It is in us. Let’s bring the Brave Girl out from hiding. Every woman in this magazine is reaching out to empower women. We are all proof that we can overcome and help others along the way. This is the year for women. We can do this together. Each one of us has a unique way of reaching out to another woman who needs encouragement, truth, and wisdom.

Rebecca left her native home of Canada 23 years ago and found a new home in the vibrant city of Indianapolis.

Rebecca's background is rooted in Customer Experience. Starting her career as a Banking Center Manager while going to school full-time in the evenings as an adult to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. In 2020, Rebecca sought a new challenge by engaging a Franchise Consultant to evaluate attractive options. Sam Tishner

Iam Sam (a.k.a. Samantha Tishner), Relationship Coach, Author, and Speaker. Sam's a testament to the transformative power of self-love and resilience. Her journey into the depths of healing began in her small walk-in closet in 2017, with tears running down her face as she realized her life needed a radical change. Facing the heartache of a second divorce and the echoes of feeling unseen and unheard within her own home, Sam confronted the stark contrast between her professional career and personal turmoil.

Despite being a beacon of strength and direction in the corporate world as a professional and leader, Sam dealt with a private life where she felt unseen, unheard, and unloved. The realization that she was losing her sense of self amidst the strains of a fracturing relationship marked a profound turning point. It was a knock at the door and the innocent inquiry of her child, "Mom, are you OK?" that crystallized her resolve. In that moment, Sam vowed to rewrite her narrative not just for herself but as a legacy of strength and authenticity for her children.

Embarking on a journey of self-discovery, Sam sought the wisdom of authors and speakers. But her biggest change occurred with the guidance of a life coach who illuminated her path to self-discovery. During her journey, she found a quote that put her life into perspective.

"If you do not love and appreciate yourself, you will attract others who do not love and appreciate you." This revelation sparked a profound transformation, reshaping not only her selfperception but also her relationships with her family, colleagues, and most importantly, herself.

Sam's evolution was marked by a newfound joy, a sense of contentment, and a quiet confidence that resonated from within. The transformation was holistic, touching every facet of her life and radiating outwards. It improved her relationships and opened doors to new opportunities. Her personal healing was not just about finding happiness, but about reaching a state of peace, true love, and abundant joy, a realization that her own company was not just enough but fulfilling.

It was from this place of empowerment and serenity that Sam's journey as a Relationship Coach unfolded. Driven by the desire to share the gift of self-love and inner peace, she dedicated herself to guiding other women through their unique paths of healing and self-discovery. Sam's approach is deeply rooted in her own experiences, making her a relatable and compassionate mentor. She doesn't just coach; she connects, transforming the lives of women by helping them uncover their own 'aha' moments and fostering a community of strength and support.

Today, Sam's life is a testament to the power of self-reflection, the courage to seek change, and the beauty of becoming one's own anchor. Her story is a beacon of hope for many, a reminder that the journey to self-love and empowerment is not just possible, but life changing. Through her work, Sam continues to be a source of inspiration, a guide leading by example, and a voice that resonates with the timeless truth that the most significant relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself.
