The Great Mound, video, printed artist book, 5x7 inches, scanned anthotypes included made with soy milk, vinegar, iron, transparency sheets, & oak leaf dye, 2020.
The Great Mound is a video documentation of an artist book, which is focused on archiving the history of the Adena and Hopewell burial mounds. The Adena and Hopewell people created mound earthworks that were used for religious, burial, and ceremonial purposes. The mounds are located in what now is known as Mounds State Park in Anderson, Indiana. Within the book, there are anthotypes made out of pictures of the current day site. The anthotypes are made out of an oak leaf dye, with the leaves collected at the site from the abundant local White Oak tree (Quercus alba).
