Knowledge Turns Confusion Into Confidence.

The financial world is saturated with information. Some helpful, some misleading, and some outright harmful. At Darwin Wealth Management, we don’t just absorb the noise. We analyze it. We parse it. And we extract only what’s relevant to build a financial plan laser-focused on your unique goals.

Using a first principles approach, we apply disciplined discernment to transform complexity into clarity, helping you avoid costly missteps and stay on course. Our planning doesn’t bend to trends. It’s driven by your purpose.

September Style

Dear Readers,

September always feels like a fresh start. The air shifts just slightly, routines return, and with them comes the perfect excuse to reimagine our personal style. This month, we’re leaning into all the ways we express ourselves: through what we wear, how we live, and the choices that reflect who we are.

We’re thrilled to feature Westporter Nikki Bonacorsi Williams on our cover, alongside her husband, Jay Williams. Nikki is a digital consultant, a wife, and a mom of three whose love of style goes back generations. Along with her husband, Jay, a basketball player-turned-ESPN host, they represent a modern power couple, blending creativity, ambition, and heart. You'll hear from them on how they cultivated their style and how fashion tells a story. We couldn’t think of a better duo to front our style issue.

That spirit of personal style shows up in so many forms throughout this issue. We dive into permanent accessories, the meaningful jewelry and tattoos that stay with us, carrying stories and symbolism across seasons. That same idea of lasting impact comes through in our “Splurge or Save” fashion guide, where we help you mix investment pieces with more budget-friendly favorites to build a wardrobe you’ll love long after fall.

Jewelry lovers will also meet Gauher "Gaga" Murray , whose elegant designs feel both timeless and entirely of-the-moment. Her work, like great style, is rooted in intention. And if your version of luxury involves ocean breezes and pink sand, don’t miss our look at The Loren at Pink Beach, a stunning resort in Bermuda that makes a strong case for a wardrobe that travels well.

Back in Westport, we’re spotlighting a local dad who’s redefining men’s skincare with his brand, Dividends. Clean, effective, and smartly designed, it’s skincare that understands that good grooming is its own kind of style.

Of course, no issue would be complete without something delicious. In partnership with Marcia Selden Catering, we’re sharing a lineup of vibrant, tomato-forward recipes that prove a beautifully styled table can be just as expressive as a great outfit.

And to round things out, we asked a few of our favorite local tastemakers to share the one thing they swear by for fall. Their picks are as practical as they are personal, and serve as a reminder that the best kind of style is the one that feels most like you.

Thanks for turning the page with us each month. Here’s to crisp mornings, great layers, and style that tells a story.

Warmly,

September 2025

NOW & FOREVER

Permanent accessories can change your whole look.

Tattoo by Amanda Mas.

Sure, you can throw on an eye-catching pair of shoes or grab a chic bag to add a statement-making pop to your outfit. But what about something you can wear 24/7— something that adds style to everything, even your sleepwear? Permanent (and semi-permanent) accessories are a genius way to do exactly that. Whether you want wearable art in the form of a tattoo, jewelry that expresses who you are via piercings and permanent bracelets, or a lower commitment from a (still long-lasting!) creative manicure, this is your guide to round-the-clock accessories that make style a snap, all here in town.

MANICURES

While not as long-lasting as the other accessories in this feature, a beautifully done manicure can last weeks and is totally customizable with shape, color, texture, or nail art. "I think nails are one of the most personal and versatile accessories you can have," says Penny Yi, owner of La Beaute Artistry. "They say something about who you are and how you’re feeling." Penny works with clients to create designs they'll love looking at, and she and her team have brought to life everything from a bridal set that incorporated

elements of the wedding dress to custom cat-eye French nails for a client on a self-love journey. "I always tell clients to come in with a vision, but be open to collaboration.  I love helping bring [their vision] to life in a way that feels personal—something that fits their style, matches the occasion, and still works with everyday looks." La Beaute Artistry excels at nail art and design, but Penny loves a classic manicure, too— "There's something about a soft, soapy manicure in a color like Fresh Linen or Tea Time. It’s timeless, clean, and truly goes with everything." labeauteartistry.com

“Because of the experiences that inform the art— memorials to lost loved ones, commemorations of new babies, markers of healing journeys— everything you put on after a tattoo changes, and for one simple reason: confidence.”

PERMANENT BRACELETS

"The idea of offering permanent bracelets was driven by my own desire to have something special to wear each day," says Emily Blundell, owner of Jeweled Coquette, which offers permanent bracelets at pop-ups and private events. "I am pretty lazy with my jewelry, so I wanted something sparkly and a little bit luxurious that I never had to take off!" Not only are the bracelets gorgeous, the experience of getting one is special and unique, explains Emily. "The memory of getting the bracelet is completely personal.  Maybe you got matching bracelets with a best friend, or perhaps you were celebrating a milestone.  The bracelet is a tangible piece of the moment.  It's all about wearing pieces that hold special meaning and memories!"  jeweledcoquette.com

PIERCINGS

"Piercings express individuality," says Christine Zimmerman, the piercing nurse at Rebel & Rose. There are so many ways to make a piercing unique, whether through placement, jewelry, or how it works with other piercings you have. "It's a tool to express one’s creativity and inner spirit to the world." Christine has expertise in all kinds of piercings, especially creating harmonious "ear parties" that take earrings to the next level. "We choose a few statement pieces and build off of those with a balance of simpler and complementary pieces," she says. "It’s always incredibly gratifying to see someone come in with a bare ear and leave with a jewelry collection that they never would have thought of beforehand, yet fits their personal expression perfectly."   rebelandrosetattoo.com

TATTOOS

A tattoo full of meaning is, in many ways, the ultimate example of personal style. "I believe tattoos are an expression of self, identity, experiences, and beliefs," says Amanda Mas, owner of Rebel & Rose Tattoo. "I’ve seen clients incorporate tattoos into their style [by using them] to tell their story." Because of the experiences that inform the art—memorials to lost loved ones, commemorations of new babies, markers of healing journeys—everything you put on after a tattoo changes, and for one simple reason: confidence. "For [someone] to get something forever on their body, and be able to look at something beautiful that they’re proud of, is unmatched." rebelandrosetattoo.com

SPLURGE OR SAVE?

LOCAL STYLISTS SHARE FALL'S BEST TRENDS, AT PRICE POINTS THAT FIT YOUR STYLE.

Fall is fashion's biggest moment. This is the time of year when the looks that will dominate the coming months start to shine, so we asked three local stylists for their can't-miss trends of the season, at both a splurge price and a less indulgent price tag. Here are their picks for the hottest combos of fall 2025.

ALEXANDRA RAHMANI, personal stylist @alexandra.rahmani

BROWN SUEDE CAR COAT + SCHOOL LOAFERS

"Anything brown and suede is moving full force ahead into fall," Alexandra says. "A car coat is the perfect addition to any cool weather look. I love the retro cut of these two coats and would style either of them over a slouchy top, dark denim and a loafer. And variations of loafers and brogues dominated the fall runways—especially with unique details such as animal print or hand stitching." In addition to the car coat and denim combo, Alexandra recommends wearing them with "a lettuce-edged sock and skirt for an ultra-feminine take on this timeless style. I will be wearing mine with barrel leg bottoms, an oversized knit sweater and layered necklaces!"

BOMBER JACKET + SLOUCHY BAG

"Chocolate is the color of the fall, and it’s not going anywhere," says Hannah. "Pairing an unstructured, slouchy bag with the urban details of a simple bomber is sure to spice up your wardrobe for Fall ‘25. Two trending styles that sit well together unlocks a powerful look!"

JENI ELIZABETH PAOLELLA, creative director and personal wardrobe stylist @jenielizabeth

SLIP DRESS + STATEMENT BELT

"There is nothing I love more than a mix of the unexpected when it comes to fashion, both for myself and my clients!" says Jeni. "Pairing a fun statement belt with a sexy slip dress and topping it off with a casual jacket (think denim) and cute white tennis sneakers is everything that is right about fall trends! A black slip dress is such a timeless piece, and something everyone should own. I love pairing dressy with casual, and just recently did it with Lindsay [Czarniak, see page 59] for the SNL red carpet as well as with Rebecca Gayheart Dane on the set of her new feature film. It's such a cute look!"

Pretty In Pink

BERMUDA’S CHICEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL IS JUST A SHORT TRIP AWAY.

Here’s a little secret: your dream escape to pink sands and turquoise seas is just a short flight away.

Set against Bermuda’s iconic pink beaches and warm ocean breezes, The Loren at Pink Beach pairs island beauty with seriously good style.

The island is known for its pastel-colored homes, laid-back rum swizzle spirit, and coastal charm. But The Loren offers a refreshing twist: sleek, modern architecture with clean lines and effortless elegance, all while preserving the character that makes Bermuda unforgettable.

With direct flights from Westchester County Airport, getting there is as breezy as the trade winds. For Westport-area travelers, it’s a quick hop that feels like a proper escape (no layovers, no jet lag, no stress).

Perched above the Atlantic with just 36 rooms and suites, The Loren is small but stunning. Each room features floor-to-ceiling windows, private terraces, and that salty-air-sunrise magic you only get by the sea. Interiors are airy and coastal—think pale wood, crisp linens, and neutral tones that let the view do all the talking.

At the heart of the property is the Pink Beach Club, an open-air restaurant that feels like the island’s best-kept secret. Local fish, bright flavors, house-made pasta, and cocktails you’ll want to recreate at home are all served with a side of endless ocean.

Looking to really unwind? The Loren’s Sisley Spa is the only one of its kind in Bermuda, with ocean-view treatment rooms and a standout lineup of facials, massages, and cult-favorite French products. It’s peaceful, polished, and completely transportive.

And if you’re up for a little adventure, the hotel offers a curated island day with a tour of Bermuda’s Crystal Caves, a walk through Tom Moore’s Jungle, and a private beachside lunch at Cooper’s Island Nature Reserve. It’s thoughtful, immersive, and a little bit magical.

Back at the hotel, you can relax by the infinity pool, browse rotating art exhibits, or join one of the low-key pop-up dinners or wellness events that keep the vibe fresh but never fussy.

The Loren doesn’t try to be flashy, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s chic, relaxed, and full of quiet moments that stay with you long after you’ve left.

And soon, there will be even more to love: The Loren Group recently acquired Bermuda’s iconic Elbow Beach property, with plans to reimagine and revive the beloved destination while staying true to its soul. Plus, The Loren Turks + Caicos Hotel & Residences is set to open next year, bringing the brand’s signature blend of elegance and ease to another incredible stretch of sand. The Loren is also making its mark stateside, with a property now open in Austin, Texas.

Crown Jewels

Gauhar "Gaga" Murray is the designer behind the eponymous jewelry brand GAUHAR—a line that combines bespoke elegance with Gaga's own cultural history and her incredible eye for shape, color, and proportion. Luckily for us, she recently relocated from Miami to Westport, and her beautiful pieces are now being designed right here.  Westport Lifestyle spoke with Gaga about the origins of her line, her move to Westport, and what true style means to her.

THE ART OF JEWELRY DESIGN, ACCORDING TO LOCAL JEWELER

PHOTOGRAPHY BY DINA ZHULII

“LAUNCHING GAUHAR FELT LIKE A WAY TO CHANNEL THAT EARLY INSPIRATION INTO

SOMETHING UNIQUELY MINE.”

WESTPORT LIFESTYLE:  HOW DID YOU FIRST DECIDE YOU WANTED TO DESIGN JEWELRY?

Gaga Murray:  Art runs in my blood—my mother always surrounded me with creativity, whether she was sketching or showcasing her own pieces. As a little girl, I longed to wear those gorgeous items but wasn’t allowed because of being too young, so I began dreaming of creating my own. Launching GAUHAR felt like a natural extension of that dream—a way to channel that early inspiration into something uniquely mine.

WL:  WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FOR YOUR PIECES?

GM:  Inspiration is everywhere—travel, art, nature, and especially my Kazakh heritage. Traditional Kazakh jewelry, crafted by anonymous artisans, often features symbolic motifs and celestial symbols, reflecting strength, protection, and a deep connection to the natural world. These elements influence my designs, blending cultural heritage with contemporary aesthetics.

WL: HOW DO YOU HONOR YOUR HERITAGE IN YOUR WORK?

GM: Growing up immersed in Eurasian artistry instilled my love for detail and craftsmanship. I blend traditional motifs—florals, architectural lines, talismans— into contemporary designs. These symbols carry stories—strength, love, protection —and by embedding them in wearable art, I create pieces that resonate deeply with the wearer, connecting past and present.

WL:  WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE DESIGN PROCESS?

GM: That initial burst of inspiration when I start sketching— there’s a special thrill in bringing an idea to life on paper. I also love the moment when I find the perfect stone; it's pure joy when the vision and the material align. From there, transforming the sketch into a CAD design, 3D printing it, and watching it evolve into a metal casting is incredibly rewarding. Holding the final piece in my hands is always surreal and fulfilling. [And] it’s deeply rewarding to see someone wear that and feel connected to something meaningful.

CONTINUED >

WL:  YOU DO BESPOKE PIECES AS WELL. CAN YOU WALK US THROUGH THAT PROCESS?

GM:  I often source special stones for clients, but sometimes they bring heirloom gems that carry deep memories. Those raw emotions—woven into a stone—spark something real. We begin with a conversation to understand their essence, then I present several design concepts that harmonize with their aesthetic and energy. It’s in the dialogue between collector and intuitive designer that true magic happens.

WL:  WHAT INSPIRED YOUR MOVE FROM MIAMI TO WESTPORT?

GM: I’ve been visiting Westport since college—my husband grew up here, so we would drive down from Boston on weekends while dating. But it wasn’t until our children came along that the appeal became clear. Westport, with its beautiful neighborhoods, excellent schools, and coastal charm, was the perfect place to plant roots when our family grew.

WL:  HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

GM:  My day-to-day look is all about ease and elegance. Think crisp white tee and jeans, paired with either balle

“THAT INITIAL BURST OF INSPIRATION WHEN I START SKETCHING— THERE’S A SPECIAL THRILL IN BRINGING AN IDEA TO LIFE ON PAPER.”

WL:  WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE PLACES TO SHOP HERE IN WESTPORT?

I love shopping locally for fun jewelry finds at Middlemarch in downtown Westport—it’s always full of unique treasures. So grateful to Sarah who owns it. I’m excited to share that my own jewelry is now available there, as well as online. New pieces will be dropping as they become available, so be sure to keep an eye on their Instagram stories for the latest updates! For fresh and specialty foods, Double L Market is a go-to. I am very fond of Lloyd and Gianna. And whenever it’s in season, we love stopping by the Westport Farmers Market.

WL: WHICH OF YOUR DESIGNS DO YOU WEAR MOST OFTEN? WHY?

I’m most often spotted in ornate earrings—big, statement-making pieces. They feel like an extension of my personality: bold yet elegant, and deeply expressive without saying a word.

SKIN DEEP

A WESTPORT DAD IS REINVENTING SKINCARE FOR MEN.

Westport dad and talent agent Jake Rosenblum, like many Westporters, left N.Y.C. “for two weeks” in March of 2020 when COVID-19 hit. He and his wife Lauren fled the city to stay with her parents here in Westport, and Jake forgot his dopp kit— which contained his drugstore-brand moisturizer and SPF—back at their apartment. So, he fatefully borrowed Lauren’s skincare, testing out the high-end moisturizer and retinol she used.  The experience became the proverbial light bulb moment for him. “The quality of the product was so far from what I had been exposed to,” he says. “It started the wheels turning.”

Jake began toying with the idea of creating results-driven skincare for men that would speak to their unique needs. (For example, men tend to have larger pores than women, and lose collagen at a faster rate.) “This isn’t about vanity—it’s about maintenance,” explains Jake. “Your skin is your largest organ, and you want to take care of it, in the same way you might drink Athletic Greens, or use a probiotic.” Combining a retinol and a moisturizer, for example, can combat collagen loss and offer anti-aging benefits. After finding a lab in California that could make what he was envisioning, Jake’s brand Dividends was born.

The name deliberately borrows from stock market terminology, says Jake, because their target market understands the idea that "this is something you invest in today, for a return tomorrow.” The core four products—a cleanser, a moisturizer, an SPF, and a retinol— are designed as a simple, effective skincare routine that will provide just that. Each product comes with a graphic explaining how to use it and in what order with the other Dividends products to help make skincare accessible for men who may not have much experience with the category. And while Dividends may have been inspired by his wife’s bag full of serums and creams, Jake advises men not to worry— using the full line of products doesn’t require a half-hour in front of the mirror each night. “This is what you need to take care of your skin: It’s two minutes, twice a day,” says Jake. “It’s not a tall order for something that goes a really long way.”

Aligned,

This Westport couple proves fashion can tell a story all its own.

In Style

Westporter Nikki Bonacorsi Williams was, quite literally, raised to have great style. “My great-grandmother, Amelia Haboush, believed being put together was a daily ritual, not a special occasion,” Nikki tells Westport Lifestyle. “She exuded an unwavering sense of style, effortlessly adorned even in her kitchen, where the rhythmic clatter of pots was complemented by the elegant jingle of gold bangles on her wrist.” Her great-grandmother, along with great aunts and grandmothers in her Italian-Lebanese family, emulated their glamour icons—Audrey Hepburn,

She’s certainly done that in her own wardrobe, which features an eclectic mix of designers and labels. “I have favorite designers for different occasions,” she explains, and there are a lot of occasions in her life: she’s a digital consultant, a wife, a mom of three, a (recovering) athlete, and an activity addict (SZA, Kendrick Lamar, and Earth, Wind, and Fire were recent favorite concerts). “Right now I’m loving Tibi, Toteme, AGOLDE, and Citizens for staples; Nili Lotan and Sea NYC for jackets; LAPOINTE, Alaia, and Khaite for galas; A.L.C., Vince, and Ulla Johnson for work attire; Ganni, Simon Miller, and PatBo for concerts; Sporty & Rich for loungewear; and Gianvito Rossi for heels.”

Jackie O, and Sophia Loren— and “worshipped at the altar of an accessory,” Nikki says. The classic ‘50s and ‘60s style in her DNA got a twist when Nikki went off to college, playing Division I soccer, and eventually she landed on a look she describes today as “sporty and polished, with a modern edge,” or “a toggle between downtown minimalism and Beirut maximalism depending on the event.” In 2025, it’s not uncommon to walk past outfits that are copy/pasted from algorithmic trends, but Nikki’s taste is uniquely her own. “I see fashion as a form of creative self-expression,” she says. “It’s an opportunity to celebrate your originality; to pay homage to your heritage and the collective experiences that informed your style.”

When Nikki met her husband, basketball player-turned-host-for-ESPN Jay Williams, her love of fashion began influencing his style, too. “When I first met him, he was either in suits or sweats,” she says. Nikki’s brother, Vinny, a sneakerhead and world-traveler who lived in Paris for a spell, “was always ahead of trends and a big influence on my taste,” she says. “He introduced me to brands like AMI, Common Projects, A.P.C., and more. I’ve taken this knowledge and given Jay more range in his wardrobe by elevating his everyday style.” Jay has seen her influence reflected, too: “I don’t believe in following trends,” he says. “I do my best to move through the world with intention. That might look like a tailored jacket or a minimal palette, but more

than anything, it’s about alignment. I want to reflect values, and when I get it right, what I’m wearing feels like clarity. [And yes], I may talk about style like philosophy…but really, I just hope my beautiful wife laid the outfit out on the bed.”

Since moving to Westport from Brooklyn in 2020, Nikki, Jay, and their family have stayed true to their roots, but they’ve seen the coastal Connecticut influence creep in, too. “I’ll never forget my first party here, in July 2020— I was the only mom in black!” Nikki recalls. “Since then, I’ve brightened up my wardrobe with pops of cobalt blue and red. And I do enjoy sporting floral jackets and silk scarves to embrace the coastal vibe.” For Jay, “this beach town and the amazing people in it have slowed me down in all the right ways,” he says. “There’s a stillness here that changed how I approached everything, even what I wear. My wardrobe now reflects that rhythm. Quiet luxury speaks the loudest when your spirit isn’t chasing anything.”

While Nikki says their two daughters are drawn to more feminine styles than she is, Jay says what he sees of Nikki in their three children, more than her taste, is her confidence. “Nikki has the eye,” he says. “But more than that, she knows how to let our kids lean into who they are while still giving them the vision to carry themselves with pride and originality. She helps them express their edge. And that is a gift.” It’s a beautiful lens into the power of fashion: sure, they’re just clothes, but they represent so much more than that—tradition, heritage, roots, individuality,

self-esteem. “For me, fashion is a form of memory and movement,” says Nikki. “It connects me to the women who came before me and lets me express who I am now: a mom, an athlete at heart, someone who loves to surprise people. Getting dressed is where I feel most creative, and most grounded. It’s not about impressing— it’s about aligning.” The alignment ethos is, truly, at the core of the Williams family. “I never want to chase attention— I’m chasing alignment: with who I love, who I lead, and the example I leave behind,” agrees Jay. “My wife grounds me, she challenges me, and her influence touches everything I do. She sees the version of me I’m still working towards. I lead with family, and everything else— business, style, legacy— follows that. If my style says anything, I hope it says ‘I know who I am, and I am still becoming who I am meant to be.’”

'GOIN' ALL OUT' FOR ARTS BASH

When Alexandra Davern Korry and her family moved to Westport in 2012, she was struck by the disparity in arts access. Her children's schools offered vast programs, a stark contrast to the limited opportunities in nearby communities like Norwalk. Wanting to make a difference, Alexandra, a lawyer, educator, and civil rights advocate, bought an old church in 2019 with the vision to create a space where kids could receive free art classes and local artists would have a place to create. Unfortunately, she passed away from ovarian cancer in 2020, just one year before The Norwalk Art Space officially opened its doors in 2021.

Honoree Melissa Newman.

Since then, the space has honored Alexandra’s legacy by providing free, high-quality art and music classes to thousands of local middle and high school students. It offers residencies to under-recognized artists, including free studio space and exhibitions (four residents at a time, and they teach one class per semester). The space also features free art exhibitions for the community and a bustling cafe operated by restaurateur Bill Taibe of Kawa Ni fame. “Alexandra’s passion infuses every aspect of our organization. To pay homage to her enduring contributions, we’ve named our building ADK House, with her initials serving as a guiding light of inspiration for all who step through our doors,” Duvian Montoya, executive director of The Norwalk Art Space tells Westport Lifestyle

While the space exudes the creative energy Alexandra dreamed about, the challenge is

keeping all aspects of the programming free. It’s why The Norwalk Art Space’s third annual Arts Bash is more important than ever. This year it will take place on October 9th, 2025, with artist and jazz musician Melissa Newman as their honoree.  The theme is “Goin’ All Out” and the event's co-chairs Dale Najarian and Catherine Devine, supporters of The Norwalk Art Space from the beginning, promise the evening will deliver with curated exhibits, great music, dancing, and incredible food.  Westport Lifestyle spoke with Duvian, Dale, and Catherine about what to expect from this incredibly special evening.

WESTPORT LIFESTYLE:  WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE EVENT?

Dale Najarian:  It's going to be very vibrant and energetic. When you have a fundraiser for an art organization, you have such an advantage because we have creative people at our fingertips.  We just want it to be a party.

It’s going to be colorful.  The food from Marcia Selden Catering is going to be incredible, over the top, and artistic.  As a nod to Melissa, we’ll have a live jazz band playing at the beginning of the night, and then later, Melissa's son will DJ.

WL:  HOW WAS MELISSA NEWMAN CHOSEN AS THIS YEAR’S HONOREE?

Duvian Montoya: When we opened, Melissa was one of the first to advocate for what we are doing here. She loved our mission. She loved the multiracial aspect of our programming, and that we're really helping the underserved communities.

DN: She brings people to the cafe all the time and is here at least three days a week. She's fully invested in every way. Closer to the bash, we’ll have an exhibition of her work.

WL:  WILL OTHER LOCAL ARTISTS BE PART OF THE NIGHT?

DN: We ask about 50 local artists to create a one-of-a-kind, 5x7 piece of artwork. We have them on display, and they're up for silent auction. It’s special. Every artist I've ever asked has said yes, because they love to give back. The silent auction goes all weekend. We don't shut it down so that people who aren’t able to come have the opportunity to bid.

“It’s going to be very vibrant and energetic. When you have a fundraiser for an art organization, you have such an advantage because we have creative people at our fingertips.”

WL:  WHY IS THE ARTS BASH SO IMPORTANT?

DM: Things are a lot tighter than they've been in the past as far as grants and funding go. The kids need us more than ever because their programming and their cultural experiences are being cut. Being creative does wonders for learning, self-esteem, and attention. It’s essential— especially with kids being on devices. It makes a huge difference to provide them with a class where they get lost in the process of creating something with their hands for two hours.

WL:  WHAT DO YOU WANT ATTENDEES TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE NIGHT?

Catherine Devine: We want them to have the same feeling we all had when we first came here. We want them to get hooked and come back to support the mission.

DM: Alexandra created something really beautiful in this space that has a unifying quality that we need more of in this world.

TOMATO TAKEOVER

There’s something about late summer in Connecticut, when the farm stands are overflowing with the most incredible tomatoes: heirloom, sungold, cherry, green zebra, and brandywine, just to name a few. It’s truly like Mother Nature saved the best for last. That sun-ripened flavor, the colors, and the juicy perfection have my mouth watering.  What better way to celebrate the end of summer than by gathering your favorite people, setting a table bursting with peak season produce, and serving a menu that feels both effortless and totally unforgettable?

This party is all about channeling the charm of an Italian summer, which is relaxed, vibrant, and built around beautiful food that doesn’t require you to be stuck in the kitchen. It starts with tomatoes and then layers in flavor, personality, and a few clever, make-ahead ideas so that you can actually be a guest at your own party!

Let’s start with a DIY Crostini Station to get the party started. Set out toasted slices of baguette, which are brushed with olive oil and either grilled or baked. Let the toppings do the heavy lifting as the crostini are just a vehicle to get the topping goodness into your mouth. Herbed ricotta; assorted tapenades like olive, sundried tomato, or artichoke; whipped feta; tomato bruschetta; roasted sweet peppers; sliced tomato and fresh mozzarella caprese…the list is endless and can be tailored to suit your style. It’s interactive, casual, and people love building their own bites. You can make every element ahead of time, which means no stress, no plating, no problem. Arrange everything on a big wooden board and it becomes edible décor. We even went as far as to create tomato topiaries, which we later used to make our tomato gazpacho as not to let the décor go to waste. Gazpacho is a perfect and super-easy soup to have on hand for an easy lunch or great first course for a dinner party. To cool things down, tomato gazpacho is your secret weapon. It’s refreshing, vibrant, and couldn’t be easier. Just blend up ripe tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper, a little garlic, olive oil, fresh herbs, and sherry vinegar. Season it up, let it chill, and serve. Can be served in small bowls or shot glasses for a fancy little taste, or in the goblets like we show here for an elevated first course moment. It’s light, totally make-ahead, and brings that fresh-off-the-vine flavor straight to the table.

Our heirloom tomato galette, a rustic, gorgeous, and shockingly easy to pull off dish, will have your guests begging for more. A buttery pastry crust gets layered with garlicky herbed ricotta and slices of every color tomato you can get your hands on. Fold up the edges, bake until golden, and watch your guests’ eyes light up when they see it. It looks impressive, but the secret is how simple it is to make. And the best part? It’s just as delicious at room temperature, so you can bake it earlier in the day, pour yourself a spritz, and relax.

Speaking of spritz, let’s talk about aperitivo hour. A buildyour-own Spritz bar is not only festive and fun, but also a total crowd-pleaser. Set out bottles of Aperol, St. Germain, Campari, Prosecco, sparkling water, and club soda. Add slices of assorted citrus like oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit along with fresh herbs. If you really want to go the extra mile, freeze herbs or edible flowers into ice cubes for a little sparkle in every glass. Guests can mix, match, and sip their perfect bubbly cocktail while nibbling on crostini and watching the sun go down.

For dessert, our limoncello tart is so light and delicious, it’s the perfect sweet conclusion to your tomato takeover party! A buttery crust holds a bright lemony limoncello curd that’s creamy, citrusy, and impossible to stop eating. Top it with whipped cream or meringue, candied lemon, or some edible flowers if you’re feeling fancy. The beauty of this tart is that it sets up in the fridge, so it’s one more thing you can prep ahead and cross off your list. Trust me, people will ask for the recipe and possibly a second serving because these tarts are like potato chips—you just cannot eat one!

The best part of all with this menu is that it’s meant to be prepared ahead of time so that when guests arrive, you’re not running around: you’re sipping a spritz, grazing at the crostini board, and laughing with your friends. That’s what this is about, celebrating the bounty of the season with a table full of food that looks as good as it tastes, and making it all feel fun, yummy, and full of love. It’s truly like eye candy and tastes as good as it looks! After all, these tomatoes waited all year for their moment, and so did you.

Enjoy, and bon appétit!

OLD WALL, NEW TRICKS

HANG UP THE OLD WAY AND TRY A GALLERY WALL HANGING SYSTEM IN YOUR HOME.

One of my happy places is sitting in front of a museum wall gallery. I can admire art for hours, and if I’m with a friend, there’s no telling how long we’ll sit, reflect, and share our individual perspectives. If you’ve admired gallery wall displays in magazines, catalogs, or on social media and would like to create one in your home, it’s much easier than you might think.

DESIGNING YOUR GALLERY WALL

The first step in creating a gallery wall is planning. Start by selecting a theme or color scheme that complements your space. Themes can be as varied as black-and-white photographs, abstract paintings, or a mix of personal and artistic prints.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:

• A gallery wall hanging system, which typically includes mounting rails, cables or rods, and hooks. You can find them pretty much anywhere, online or at your local home improvement store.

• A collection of frames and artwork.

• A level, measuring tape, and perhaps a laser pointer for precision.

CREATIVE ARRANGEMENTS

• The arrangement of your gallery wall can follow several patterns, depending on your taste:

• Linear: Artworks are hung in a straight line at eye level, creating a clean and orderly appearance.

• Grid: Perfect for a collection of similarly sized frames, this layout emphasizes structure and uniformity.

• Salon Style: This more traditional arrangement involves layering pieces closely together, often extending across the wall. It’s ideal for creating a rich, filled look.

INSTALLATION TIPS:

01 MEASURE YOUR SPACE:

Carefully measure the wall space where you want to install the gallery. Consider the height and width available, keeping in mind furniture and other room features.

02 LAY IT OUT:

Arrange your artwork on the floor to finalize your layout. This “dry run” is crucial to get a feel for how the pieces will interact with one another. I like to use painter’s tape to create a visual of what my display will look like on the walls.

03 INSTALL THE RAILS AND HANG YOUR ART:

Following the manufacturer’s instructions, mount the rails at the top of your wall. Ensure they are level and securely attached. Attach cables or rods to the rails, then use hooks to hang your frames. The beauty of the system is that you can adjust the height and position easily.

04 BALANCE AND SYMMETRY:

Step back to view your layout from different angles. Adjust the spacing and alignment as needed to achieve visual balance.

HUDSON+BLEECKER

A do-it-all travel bag from a Westport-based founder.

Eram, the CEO and founder of Hudson+Bleecker, is a Westportbased mom of two who started her own company when she couldn't find travel bags that suited her needs. The Jetsetter Train Case, seen here, is a favorite from the collection. "This bag is the ultimate at-home or on-the-go beauty must-have," Eram says. "Featuring water-resistant, antimicrobial, wipe-clean lining, this bag is the holy grail of makeup bags. It includes straps for carrying ease: one adjustable cross-body strap and a more stylized metal chain. It also includes storage for makeup brushes and is made of vegan materials, and composed of recycled materials. One of the design features I love is the adjustable top handle that can lie flat and pull up for carrying use. I use mine every day. It keeps all of my daily beauty essentials at convenient access under my vanity and helps eliminate the need to pack when I’m on the go." Eram says this fall she and her family will travel to the Berkshires, and this bag will come along. "My little one also has one and she uses it to store her hair clips, hair brush, toothbrush and wash. It is an all-around must-have bag in my opinion."
