MIKE DALY IS ON A MISSION TO SPREAD A MESSAGE OF HOPE AND HELP
ARTICLE BY BRIAN BOYER
Mike Daly at a recent business conference.
Mike at a dance event at Arthur Murray Dance Centers in Glastonbury.
If you’re ever in the Hartford area and see a man confidently strolling through a festival or dance floor in a pink tuxedo, there’s a good chance it’s Mike Daly. If you stop to ask him why he’s wearing it, you’ll get an answer that’s heartfelt, honest and unwavering:
“Because people need to see the face behind the statistics regarding cancer and particularly breast cancer.”
Mike, of New England Prestige Realty in Glastonbury, is not your typical real estate professional. A former American Airlines marketing executive and U.S. Air Force veteran, he holds degrees in both marketing and law, Mike brings a multifaceted perspective to everything he does.
But it’s his role as a cancer survivor, community advocate and tireless supporter of breast cancer awareness and education that truly sets him apart.
“Real estate is how I help people today,” Mike says. “It’s another way to be there during one of the most important decisions of their lives.”
That journey took a sharp turn when Mike was diagnosed with a rare form of melanoma, despite doing “everything right,” including eating well and staying active.
During chemotherapy, his world narrowed to treatment rooms, difficult conversations and long days of reflection. Out of the experience, purpose emerged.
He became a breast cancer advocate after a childhood friend was diagnosed with it. Breast cancer affects one in eight women in the U.S., and while male breast cancer is rare, it often goes undiagnosed until it’s too late. So he focuses his advocacy on men as well.
His signature look — pink tuxedos, workout clothes, sweatpants and bow ties —is part of his advocacy.
The Arthur Murray dance community became a lifeline, after he signed up for a dance contest, partly to support the local chamber of commerce and advocate about breast cancer awareness.
“They gave me free lessons at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, so I showed up in a pink tux, danced my heart out and got people talking about breast cancer.”
The dance community offered him support as he adjusted to life post-treatment.
“Chemo impacted my balance, so I had to stop riding bikes like I used to. But dancing gave me another way to move, recover and stay connected.”
Whether it’s riding for CT Challenge, working as an office manager for the Jordan Porco Foundation, or helping families buy and sell homes, Mike’s approach is grounded in gratitude.
“The community gave me so much during my cancer journey. I’m lucky to be surrounded by people who care—and even luckier to give back.”
That sense of purpose is woven into his work. From first-time homebuyers to corporate investors, Mike’s mission is the same: help them move forward with confidence and compassion.
“Someone is better off today because of something I did yesterday—that’s the goal,” Mike says. “We should all strive for that.”
And he continues to push the message of breast cancer awareness.
We need to remain vigilant and keep talking— because behind every statistic is someone’s story. Like mine. If sharing that story means wearing a pink tuxedo or jumping out of an airplane with a pink parachute to get people to ask questions — well, that’s just part of the job.”

“I treat people the way I’d want to be treated. I guide them to the best possible outcome—just like I was guided during my own journey.”
“The mortality rate for men is actually higher because doctors and patients don’t expect it. People joke, they argue with me, but I keep talking. Because the message matters.”

A Rising tide
When Chris Conway became Executive Director of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce in 2018, he brought with him a clear vision: to create an organization that met businesses where they were and guided them toward meaningful growth.
Now the chamber’s president and CEO, he continues to do just that — leading a 580-member chamber that is, Chris says, the largest single-town chamber in Connecticut and a model for community engagement across the region.
“Our goal is always to meet people where they are and provide value regardless of their size, industry, or stage of growth.”
Before he ever stepped into the chamber world, Chris spent 19 years at Barnes & Noble, rising through the ranks in management. That experience, he says, taught him more than just the mechanics of running a business.
“I learned a lot about leadership and management there,” he recalls. “Barnes & Noble was really good about training their managers. We had access to incredible thought leaders. Those experiences shaped how I manage teams and lead an organization.”
His path to the chamber world, however, wasn’t direct. After Barnes & Noble, Chris spent time in the insurance industry, where he was introduced to the West Hartford chamber as a member.
“I encountered so many different types of businesses through that work, and it struck

me that any business could benefit from chamber membership— whether you’re a startup or a big company,” he says.
That insight led him to the Waterbury Regional chamber, where he served as Membership Director and launched several successful recruitment and retention initiatives. In 2016, Chris received the West Hartford chamber’s Spotlight Award for his work on the annual golf tournament. By April 2022, he had officially been promoted to President and CEO of the chamber—a role that perfectly blends his business acumen with his passion for community development.
Under Chris’s leadership, the West Hartford chamber has grown significantly. Member retention remains a key point of pride.
“We’re getting more members, and they’re sticking around. That tells me we’re offering value.”
A significant milestone was the creation of the Minority Business Network, a member-driven initiative aimed at fostering inclusion and representation.
How Chris Conway Is Lifting West Hartford’s Business Community
“It wasn’t just me—it was our members who saw the opportunity, gave feedback and got involved,” he notes. “We’re actually the only suburban chamber in the state that has something like this.”
What sets the chamber apart, Chris believes, is its member-centric approach. “We always ask questions: What are your goals? What do you need? We then match those needs with our programs and benefits,” he says. “An insurance broker and a company with 200 employees are going to have very different needs. We understand that, and we tailor our approach accordingly.”
The chamber’s influence extends far beyond West Hartford. While headquartered in town, it has members in over 50 municipalities across four states. “That’s a testament to our reach and the value we’re providing,” Chris says.
A major focus of the chamber is programming that reflects the interests of its members. One large cohort is in the health and wellness space, so events and initiatives have been customized to reflect that demographic. “We try to create value for all members, no matter their size or sector,” Chris says.
Visibility, he says, isn’t the only way to benefit from chamber membership.
“You don’t have to be at every event or function,” he says. “Some of our restaurant and manufacturing members aren’t physically present often, but they still benefit from the work we do. A rising tide lifts all boats—and that’s what we aim for.”
So why choose West Hartford?
“The town is always looking forward — what’s next, what’s possible,” Chris explains. “When a business comes here, they’re not just supported by the chamber, but by the town government, the community and the residents. That’s a huge part of why we’re successful.”
The chamber also maintains a strong presence through social media, local publications and word of mouth.

“Our members are our biggest fans,” Chris says. “They tell others, ‘You’ve got to join. Here’s how the chamber helped my business.’ That’s the best kind of marketing you can ask for.”
As he looks ahead, his focus remains clear: support members, strengthen the community and ensure West Hartford remains one of the best places in Connecticut to live, work and grow a business.
“West Hartford is a great place to do business. We’re fortunate to have an incredibly diverse and engaged membership.”

A Salon with Soul
When Jenny Andre opened her new West Hartford salon earlier this year, she brought two decades of beauty expertise along with a deep philosophy fusing European artistry with heartfelt community care.
Originally from Lisbon, Portugal, Jenny trained as a hairstylist and makeup artist in a rigorous four-year academy program there.
When she moved here she spend more than six years working on Manhatten’s Upper West Side before launching a salon in Staten Island. Now, with the opening of her second salon, Jenny Andre Hair & Skin Spa on Farmington Avenue, she’s creating a fresh space for transformation, creativity, and connection.
“My motto is ‘Beauty and health for your hair,’” Jenny explains. “Because without health, hair can’t truly be beautiful.”
Known for her mastery in color correction and damage repair, she specializes in reviving over-processed hair and restoring shine and strength, earning her the affectionate nickname, “hair doctor.”. She conducts in-depth consultations that prioritize hair health. Her clients get a new look and a treatment plan tailored to strengthen and revive their hair.
While the West Hartford location is still new, Jenny has ambitious plans.

Jenny Andre Brings Her Signature Beauty Philosophy to West Hartford
The front reception area inside Andre Hair & Skin Spa in West Hartford.
“We just opened in February and we’re still building, but I want this space to be something special—not just a salon, but a place where people feel seen and supported.”
In New York, Jenny has donated services to children with disabilities and hopes to bring that same spirit of generosity to West Hartford. She’s exploring community partnerships and dreams of launching a “confidence makeover” day for women returning to the workforce, offering discounted services and style coaching to help them look and feel their best.
“Everyone deserves to feel beautiful,” she says. “Sometimes, all it takes is the right haircut or a little shine to change how you walk into a room.”
Her services include hairstyling for women, men, and children, and the salon is also an expert in skincare. While the West Hartford salon doesn’t yet offer facials, they’re coming soon. Jenny plans to introduce signature treatments using HydroFacial-Keravive MD, a first-of-its-kind medical-grade scalp facial for those suffering from hair loss, along with Repechage®, 100% organic seaweed-based natural products are perfect for refreshing, soothing, and hydrating all skin types. “I want the West Hartford salon to become a full wellness experience,” she says. “Hair, skin, confidence—it’s all connected.”
For Jenny, West Hartford offers a slower pace and a warm, community-oriented environment that reminds her of home. “This town has heart,” she says. “It’s full of families, small businesses, and people who support each other. That’s why I chose it.”
She’s also adapting her business model to fit the community’s needs, offering weekend hours and flexible evening appointments—ideal for professionals who struggle to book beauty services during the typical 9-to-5.
And for those wondering what sets Jenny Andre Hair & Skin Spa apart in a town with plenty of salons?
“I don’t just style hair—I take care of it,” Jenny says. “We focus on long-term health, using organic and safe ingredients, and building trust with every client. Whether your hair is straight, curly, textured, or thinning—we’ll help you love it again.”
Looking ahead, Jenny hopes the West Hartford community will give her a chance to showcase her talents and services.
“Come in and let me take care of you,” she says with a smile. “Try the service, see the result, and share your experience. That’s how we grow.”

LIGHTING THE FRAME:
HOW CINEMATOGRAPHER VINCENT
WRENN IS REIMAGINING VISUAL
STORYTELLING IN WEST HARTFORD
One of the sets on a film shot by Vincent Wrenn.
It’s that same passion, polish, and purpose he’s now bringing to local brands and businesses through Framelines Creative, the media house he launched with his wife and business partner, Myra. Together, they’re offering West Hartford emotionally resonant, high-caliber visual storytelling that goes beyond social media trends to create lasting brand connections. “We offer thoughtful, beautifully executed work that elevates a brand’s presence and speaks directly to its core audience.”
The journey from LA to West Hartford wasn’t exactly scripted, but it was heartfelt. The move brought seasons, stillness, and the kind of smalltown inspiration that sparks big ideas, especially for Vincent.
“Being surrounded by the history and beauty of this place is going to take some getting used to.”
Their relocation also came with a realization: while cities like L.A. and New York were saturated with production companies, areas like Greater Hartford were ripe with creative opportunity and authentic community connection. The couple saw the gap and the potential.
“There are so many brilliant small businesses here—so much heart and hustle. But there’s not always access to innovative, high-quality media that can help tell those stories at scale,” Vincent says. “That’s where we come in.”
Framelines Creative isn’t your average production studio. Clients hiring them are enlisting a team that understands storytelling, strategy, and the emotional nuance of marketing in a saturated digital world.
“We know that lighting, as much as a logo or packaging, affects how desirable something is upon first sight.”
Though he has only been in West Hartford a short while, Vincent meets regularly with artists, business owners, and creatives over coffee. He is enthusiastic about building meaningful partnerships that support the entrepreneurial spirit of the region.

It’s not every day that a veteran Los Angeles filmmaker plants new creative roots in Connecticut. Vincent Wrenn, a seasoned cinematographer with deep storytelling expertise, traded the palm-lined streets of California for the vibrant community of West Hartford.
After two and a half decades working in film, television, and commercial production, Vincent’s resume is as varied as it is extensive. His work on The Defiant Ones pulled back the veil on the stories behind rock stars and rap gods alike. His most recent feature, The Age of Disclosure, premiered at South by Southwest Film Festival to sold-out crowds and standing ovations—an experience Vincent describes as an honor.
“Sitting in a theatre surrounded by 1,200 people, hearing their ‘oohs and aahs‘ to something you’ve worked on for two years…it’s hard to beat. ”
“There’s a generosity here that’s rare,” Vincent says. “People will actually show up. They’ll sit down, share ideas, collaborate. It’s a community that’s not just open to newcomers—it’s excited to help them succeed.”
Framelines aims to work with local brands that understand the value of investing in their voice, from high-end retailers and boutique services to legacy family-run businesses ready to evolve. They’re not out to convince the market of the need for advertising—they’re here for the folks who already believe in it and want to take it to the next level.
With an ever-growing body of work, a bold creative vision, and a serious love for the town they now call home, Framelines Creative is poised to become a go-to name in Greater Hartford’s brand and media scene.
Whether you’re a legacy brand ready for reinvention or a start-up in search of your soul, Framelines Creative are here to help you tell your story—frame by thoughtful frame.
A Q&A ON THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTHY TESTOSTERONE LEVELS
Gameday Men's Health West Hartford
ARTICLE BY EILEEN M. MCNAMARA
Dr. Jean Carlos Jimenez, MD
“
Testosterone is crucial for male development ... muscle strength, energy, mood and sexual health.
Created in 2018 and committed to helping men live their best lives through a novel and medically-supervised treatment program, Gameday Men’s Health opened a new clinic last June in West Hartford.
Gameday was created to help men suffering from low testosterone (Low T) and erectile dysfunction (ED), and provides medical weight loss solutions, vitamin therapy, peptides and hair restoration services. Its primary focus is to help men maximize their health, in a comfortable environment with knowledgeable medical staff to create customized health game plans to get them back to their passion and purpose.
“Low testosterone levels can be caused by a wide range of factors, such as aging, certain medical conditions, medications, and excessive alcohol consumption, to name a few,” says Dr. Jean Carlos Jimenez, MD, Gameday Men’s Health West Hartford medical director.
Q: WHAT IS LOW TESTOSTERONE, AND WHY IS IT A CONCERN FOR MEN?
Testosterone is crucial for male development, mainly muscle strength, energy, mood and sexual health. Low Testosterone or “low T” occurs when Testosterone in blood falls below a certain limit and can lead to things like fatigue, decreased sexual health, weight gain and even depression.
Q: WHAT ARE THE COMMON SYMPTOMS OF LOW TESTOSTERONE?
Most common symptoms seen in patients with low testosterone are decreased sexual health, erectile dysfunction, loss of muscle mass, increased body fat, mood swings, low energy levels, trouble concentrating and sleeping.
Q: WHAT CAUSES TESTOSTERONE LEVELS TO DROP?
Testosterone levels naturally decline after men reach 30 years of age, but medical conditions such as obesity, diabetes and chronic stress can also lower testosterone levels. Poor sleep, lack of exercise and
excessive alcohol intake are also common causes, amongst others, that can cause low testosterone.
Q: HOW IS LOW TESTOSTERONE DIAGNOSED?
We diagnose low testosterone by taking both a detailed history of symptoms and a focused blood test. At Gameday, we draw the blood on site to measure Testosterone levels and once resulted, we review these values with the patient.
Q: WHAT TREATMENT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE FOR MEN WITH LOW TESTOSTERONE?
For patients with low testosterone, it is true that the most effective treatment is Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). TRT consists of weekly injections of exogenous testosterone administered either at home or in-clinic. TRT is also available as gels, patches or oral tablets. We can offer Clomiphene or Gonadorelin in some cases to stimulate natural production of testosterone. These are the medical options but these should always be combined with lifestyle modifications including but not limited to weight loss, and addressing underlying issues such as poor sleep or poorly controlled diabetes.
Q: WHEN SHOULD A MAN SEE A DOCTOR ABOUT LOW TESTOSTERONE?
If you are experiencing symptoms like low energy, mood swings, erectile dysfunction or having difficulty with weight loss, all causing increased and unnecessary stress, it wouldn’t hurt to discuss the possibility of having low testosterone with your doctor. There are other situations which definitely merit a visit to your provider and they include any injury to the brain or testicular area as well as men having concerns about their fertility.
