When I think about what makes West Austin feel like home, it always comes back to the people, especially the women who pour their hearts into this community. The ones whose creativity, compassion, and quiet strength show up in all the ways that matter. It's easy to see how many of them have shaped not only the spirit of our neighborhoods but the people we’re becoming.
For me, it starts with my mom. She and my dad built a business together, and at the same time, she devoted herself to caring for her patients. Even with everything on her plate, I always knew I was her priority. She led with love, worked incredibly hard, and gave so much of herself to our family and those around her. Watching her taught me what it means to show up fully—for your work, your people, and those around you.
With Mother’s Day approaching, now feels like the right time to pause and celebrate the women who’ve nurtured us, guided us, and stood beside us. And not just moms by birth—but every woman who’s ever shown up for someone else. The mentors, the aunts, the teachers, the friends. The ones who lead quietly, love fiercely, and remind us that care is its own kind of strength.
This month, I hope you’ll find a moment to reach out to the women in your life who deserve to hear how much they matter. A quick call or message can be a meaningful reminder that they’re seen and appreciated.
We’re proud to shine a light on some of the women-led businesses that help shape life in West Austin with heart, intention, and grit. You’ll meet a few of them in the pages ahead, and I hope their stories and achievements leave you feeling as inspired as I am.
With love,

Building on the momentum of its first two years, the 2025 ATX Open delivered another standout week of world class tennis, community engagement, and high energy entertainment. As the largest women’s professional sporting event in Austin and the only tour-level professional women’s tennis tournament held annually in Texas, the tournament continues to raise the bar as a premier event that is part of the Hologic WTA Tour.

This year, the ATX Open made history with its first-ever All-American final. Jessica Pegula, who has since risen to No. 3 in the world, captured her seventh career title and first of 2025 with a dominant 7–5, 6–2 win over McCartney Kessler. Their final, played in front of a sold-out crowd at Westwood Country Club’s Center Court, marked the first WTA all-American final on U.S. soil since 2017. Pegula, competing in Austin for the first time, impressed fans throughout the week with her focused play and composure under pressure.
“I really wanted it today,” Pegula said after the match. “I feel like I get extra fired up playing against an American too. It was a really fun week. I really enjoyed myself here and I’m happy to walk away with the title.”
Off the court, the Ladies’ Day Brunch offered a full-service dining experience with curated bites, beverages, and music by DJ KICKIT. Guests browsed pop-ups from Kendra Scott, CourtLife, Richsport, and Blue Gardenia Boutique before a Q&A and photo op with WTA star Ajla Tomljanović. Guests also entered a luxury raffle and were invited to donate towards New Hope Animal Rescue. The tournament also drew a few familiar faces—including Matthew McConaughey, who attended matches throughout the week and showed his enthusiasm for the sport and the tournament’s positive impact on the city.
With each passing year, the ATX Open continues to grow as a defining part of Austin’s professional sports scene. Organized by DropShot, LLC, the ATX Open featured a 32-player singles draw and 16-team doubles draw, bringing global talent to Austin and broadcasting to audiences worldwide.
As Tournament Director Christo Van Rensburg shared, “We were thrilled for Jessica and McCartney to face off in a historic all-American final.” He added, “We were blessed this week with beautiful weather, an energetic crowd, and world-class players. Thank you to all our fans, sponsors, and wonderful hosts at Westwood Country Club. We are already looking forward to the 2026 ATX Open!”

MICHAEL, WHAT INSPIRED THE VISION BEHIND ANDERSON PARKER?
I’ve always loved dressing my kids, and as our family grew and the kids got older, I found myself placing more value on quality fabrics. That focus led me to find incredible lines to carry at Anderson Parker from all over the world!
HOW HAS BEING A MOM OF FOUR INFLUENCED THE BRANDS AND STYLES YOU CHOOSE FOR THE BOUTIQUE?

and we have been able to curate super cute sibling outfits. I especially love Courtside Kids for comfort, The Beaufort Bonnet Company for that easy dinner and church outfit, and our European brands like Pearson & Pearson and Patachou for something special!
MEREDITH, WHAT MAKES MONOGRAMMING SUCH A MEANINGFUL PART OF THE BOUTIQUE?
As a grandmother of six (and counting), I find custom monogramming to be a heartfelt way to create personalized gifts and keepsakes. Each project I work on is special to our customers, who are becoming like friends and family to us. I love being able to transform simple items into cherished keepsakes.
WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DO YOU WANT FAMILIES TO HAVE AT ANDERSON PARKER?

MICHAEL, HOW DO CURRENT TRENDS ALIGN WITH YOUR APPROACH TO CHILDREN’S STYLE?
What I love about children’s clothing is that it stays timeless. There is real intention behind keeping kids young—allowing them to be dressed, feel comfortable, and be their age! I love to tell my daughter Anderson who is 7 - BE SEVEN let’s love being seven you have the rest of your life to be older and grown up! Keep them little!

Celebrating women-owned businesses and uplifting others is at the heart of Blue Door Salon. Led by Owner and Color Specialist Allison Bryant, the salon stays connected through collaborations with neighboring businesses, career day visits to schools like Rough Hollow Elementary, and creative events that bring the community together—including a local scavenger hunt held earlier this year with that same spirit in mind.
WHAT SPARKED THE IDEA FOR THE SCAVENGER HUNT?
We wanted to create visibility, strengthen community connections, boost social media engagement, and most importantly, create a memorable experience. We love games and we love our community, so combining the two felt like a great way to bring everyone together.
CAN YOU SHARE MORE ABOUT THE WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES THAT PARTICIPATED?
R.brooklyn and Restore are both amazing local businesses in Bee Cave. R.brooklyn is a clothing boutique owned by Katie Antis who shares our values around family and community—it was a no-brainer to include our new neighbor. Restore, owned by Arden Wimberly, is a wellness studio we’ve partnered with many times. Their staff is always so supportive, and they really represent something important: taking care of yourself!
WHAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING PARTS OF HOSTING THE EVENT?
Our new neighbor Bricks & Minifigs happened to hold their grand opening during the event—and they had a line wrapped around the building! It was exciting to see so much community engagement from a completely different crowd. Also, shoutout to Bricks & Minifigs for being woman-owned by Lindsey Gauci.
Blue Door Salon, located at 11905 FM 2244 in Bee Cave, continues to champion women-owned businesses through thoughtful partnerships that support and empower the West Austin community. Michelle Dolch has built her career with intention, resilience, and a clear understanding of what it means to deliver excellence. Before becoming one of Austin’s leading names in luxury real estate, she made her mark in hospitality—owning restaurants and a bakery, and leading food and beverage operations for ClubCorp. Michelle attended the University of Texas in Edinburg on a volleyball scholarship and studied business finance.
“Luxury real estate has always fascinated me because it’s about so much more than just buying and selling homes—it’s about curating a lifestyle and delivering an exceptional experience,” Michelle shares. That experience-driven mindset still guides her approach today, grounded in hospitality, service, and high-level execution. “At my core, I’m a people pleaser, which means I go above and beyond to ensure every transaction is seamless and tailored to my clients’ unique goals.”
As a woman in a competitive industry, Michelle has carved out her space with purpose. “Early in my career, I recognized that success requires more than just market expertise—it’s about building trust, delivering outstanding results, and cultivating lasting relationships with high-net-worth clients,” she adds. Working alongside her
husband and business partner, Gary Dolch, the two bring a powerhouse dynamic to their clients. “Our partnership allows us to combine our strengths—his analytical and investment-driven approach with my keen eye for design, client relationships, and negotiation strategies.”
Together, they helped define Austin Luxury Group as a top-tier real estate name, with over $1 billion in property sales. Michelle is the co-owner of Dolch Properties Inc. and Austin Luxury Group, and a founding agent at COMPASS alongside Gary. But for her, it’s never been about volume—it’s about value. “My approach has always been rooted in transparency, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to my clients’ best interests,” she says. “Whether it’s advising on market trends, negotiating complex deals, or offering strategic guidance, my goal is to provide an experience that feels effortless, informed, and tailored.”
She brings that same philosophy to Austin’s evolving luxury market, a space that’s seen exponential growth in recent years. “Unlike traditional luxury markets with long-standing exclusivity, Austin is still evolving, making it incredibly dynamic,” she explains. “We see a mix of modern architectural masterpieces, historic estates, and expansive ranch properties, all within a city that embraces innovation and creativity.”
The influx of high-net-worth individuals relocating here has only heightened demand, and Michelle’s success is matched by her commitment to community. She actively supports local organizations such as Austin Pets Alive, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Central Texas, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, among many others. “I believe success is most meaningful when it’s used to uplift others,” she says.
Michelle and Gary are also parents to their daughter, Denver—a title Michelle holds closest to her heart. She credits her mother for instilling in her a strong work ethic and drive. “My mom has always been my biggest supporter and source of strength,” Michelle says. “Her guidance has helped shape who I am today as a wife, a mother, and successful real estate broker.”
In every aspect of her work, Michelle Dolch leads with vision, purpose, and a sincere commitment to her clients—qualities that have positioned Austin Luxury Group as one of the most trusted names in real estate. Why personalized coverage and lasting client relationships matter more than ever.
Having the right insurance coverage can make all the difference when life takes an unexpected turn. From rebuilding after a total loss to staying ahead of risks like cybersecurity and climate-related damage, today’s policies need to do more than just check a box. Kate Mayer, CPRM and Personal Lines Risk Advisor at Whorton Insurance, brings peace of mind by helping clients understand their coverage and make confident, informed decisions.
“One of the most common gaps is Extended Dwelling Coverage,” Mayer explains. “This is the coverage that comes to the rescue if the policy dwelling amount is not enough, say in a total loss. The insured has $1 million on the dwelling and it is going to cost $1.5 million to rebuild. A lot of companies do the 20% of dwelling coverage, but I always do the 100%. With the fluctuating home prices, you need to make sure there is enough coverage.” She also emphasizes the growing need for
flood, earthquake, and cybersecurity coverage. “Cybersecurity is a huge concern now, and every policy is adding the coverage options. It is important to explain to our clients and offer it to them.”
As families grow and evolve—and as high net worth needs become more complex— Kate sees clients becoming more involved in their coverage. “From buying a first home to sending their first child off to college, families are changing fast—and with each step, we’re there to offer guidance,” she says.
After 34 years in the industry, Kate Mayer has built lasting relationships that go far beyond paperwork and policies. “Clients are like close friends to me, and it’s incredibly rewarding to know they trust me to do what’s right. My clients can call anytime if it’s an emergency or something that needs to be handled quickly. That’s the difference between an 8-to-5 insurance agent and a high-networth risk advisor.”
AMBER WORNER ON BUILDING SPACE, SUPPORT, AND CONNECTION FOR WOMEN.
ARTICLE BY MICHELLE WOOD
PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF FRONTYARD BREWING
Frontyard Brewing, a family-focused brewery in Spicewood, Texas, was created with a commitment to community. While craft breweries need to focus on optimizing their operations, the heart of this brewery lies in building relationships and making a positive impact. Amber Worner shares, “When Chad founded Frontyard, this was the part I was most excited about.”
Chad Worner started brewing beer in 2010 with a homebrewing kit, and today, he and Amber, along with their partners Bryan and Amanda Russell, own Frontyard Brewing in Spicewood. While they’ve found success, Amber admits their journey was challenging. “To be honest, after opening, we found ourselves floundering just to keep our heads above water. Learning to run food trucks, a brewery, and cope with COVID were just a few of the roadblocks we were up against,” she reflects.
In addition to running the brewery, Amber balances her career as a pediatric psychotherapist, parenting coach, and speaker. She believes in living with intention. “There’s always time to make a difference. If not you, then who?” she says. This philosophy led to the creation of the Social Collective, born from their manifesto: “Our neighborhood is more than one house or one block or one street. It’s the people. And here, we look out for each other, we help one another. We’re neighborly. That’s why our goal isn’t simply to brew beer. It’s to craft community. Beer is just the invitation.”
The Social Collective began with the goal of hosting a ladies’ night to give back to local nonprofits benefiting women and children. In three years, they’ve raised over $35,000 for these causes. “What has surprised me most is the beautiful community of women who show up every month to do good for our community and encourage each other,” Amber reflects. The group, ranging from their 20s to 80s, comes together in harmony, transcending beliefs and backgrounds. Amber adds, “It’s so unique and refreshing in this political climate to have women from all ages, beliefs, and walks of life show up in love.”
“Our goal has always been to leave the community better than when we found it.”
The Social Collective meets the first Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Frontyard Brewing located on 4514 Bob Wire Rd. The events are free, and all profits benefit local nonprofits. Local businesses donate raffle prizes, with tickets at just $5. For event details, follow Frontyard Brewing on Instagram @FrontyardBrewing or visit FrontyardBrewing.com.
