MIKE BERARDINO, FOUNDER OF JUST LIFT FITNESS, BUILDS STRENGTH THROUGH COMMUNITY
Opening a gym in the middle of a global pandemic might sound like a gamble, but for Mike Berardino, it was simply the right time to bring his vision to life.
On September 4, 2020—the first day gyms were allowed to reopen in New York—Just Lift Fitness officially opened its doors, welcoming members into a space built not just for physical transformation, but for lasting community.
As a former personal trainer, Mike had already spent years helping clients improve their lives one workout
“The vision was always to be a home away from home,” Mike says. “An overwhelming sense of comfort, and giving our members the ability to accomplish all and every goal they put in front of them.”
Mike’s path to becoming a gym owner began in his early 20s, when his lifelong love of sports and fitness led him to pursue personal training certification. Once certified, he quickly found himself at home in a local gym, helping clients reach goals they once thought impossible. “Watching my clients progress and

at a time. But personal training, while deeply fulfilling, limited the number of people he could reach. “Creating Just Lift Fitness gave me the ability to help more than just my clients,” he explains. “I’ve been able to guide, facilitate, and build great relationships with everyone who has entered our facility.”
That sense of relationship-building is at the heart of everything Mike does.
From the beginning, his vision for Just Lift Fitness was clear: create a welcoming, supportive environment that feels like a second home. A place where everyone—not just seasoned athletes— can feel empowered to set and crush their goals.
hearing how working out changed their lives really fueled my soul,” he says. “Their goals became my goals.”
That passion grew into a purpose— and eventually into a business. But it wasn’t just his drive that made Just Lift Fitness possible. One of Mike’s earliest clients saw so much value in his guidance that she invested in his vision. “She was stuck and couldn’t lose weight on her own,” Mike recalls. “We worked together for six months, she lost 60 pounds, and it changed her life. Her transformation made this entire gym a reality.”
Just Lift Fitness offers both oneon-one and small group training,

specializing in weight loss, strength building, endurance, and overall well-being. But it’s the members themselves who make the gym stand out. “The sense of community and feeling welcome—that comes from our members,” Mike says. “They work hard, they help each other, and they have fun doing it.”
The culture Mike has created is grounded in authenticity and respect. Listening, he says, is the key to great coaching and client relationships. “It’s about understanding what someone’s trying to communicate and why, then developing a plan that takes small, patient steps forward,” he explains. His goal is to make the process sustainable, so clients are building habits for life, not just the short term.
“Taking care of your body is a 24/7 event,” Mike says. “Smart choices, showing up, listening to your body, and becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable—that’s where the real change happens.”
As a business owner, Mike has faced his share of challenges—none bigger than launching a gym in the uncertainty of 2020. “It was truly one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done,” he admits. “But building something during that time
showed me what I’m capable of and what’s possible when you lead with heart.”
He credits his motivation to values learned early in life. “My father always told me half the battle is just showing up,” Mike shares. “But beyond that, you have to set realistic goals and take small steps every day to reach them.”
That mindset continues to drive him as he grows both personally and professionally. He’s constantly focused on how to create the best possible experience for his members, always thinking like the consumer. “Step outside of your personal wants,” he advises others looking to enter the fitness industry. “Ask yourself—what do people actually need? What’s going to make them walk through the door and stay?”
When he’s not in the gym, you’ll most likely find Mike at home with his two dogs, working in the garden or building something with his hands. “I love working on projects and turning ideas into reality,” he says. “It’s a lot like the gym—taking a vision and making it tangible.”
As Just Lift Fitness continues to grow, Mike remains grounded in what matters most: helping others become the strongest, healthiest versions of themselves. Through trust, consistency, and community, he’s lifting far more than weights—he’s lifting lives.
How Riverstone Mental Health Collective is Reimagining Connection, Therapy, and Community in Northern Westchester
In a world that often praises independence and self-reliance, William Henry, LCSW and founder of Riverstone Mental Health Collective, believes in something different: the healing power of human connection. With decades of experience in the field, his passion for helping people feel seen, supported, and understood has blossomed into a growing practice that is changing the mental health landscape in Northern Westchester.
"We progress together. We heal together."
William's journey began while working in a day treatment center for students and families facing severe mental health challenges. It was there he witnessed firsthand how crucial secure attachments and healthy relationships are in building long-term resilience. That experience became the foundation for Riverstone Mental Health Collective, a practice committed to creating space for people to connect, heal, and grow—no matter their age or circumstances.
"My hope is to bring families together, whatever that might look like," William explains. "We guide people through the complex emotional landscapes we all encounter, and meet them exactly where they are."
Riverstone began as a solo practice, but William soon realized that the mental health needs of the community were too vast and nuanced for one provider alone. He began building a team of clinicians with unique specialties and gifts—expanding into a collaborative, multi-provider collective. Today, Riverstone includes licensed clinical social workers and a marriage and family therapist, each committed to tailoring care for individuals, couples, and families.
The practice offers a wide variety of services, including individual therapy for adults and children, couples counseling, and marriage and family therapy. In a nod to its evolving focus on holistic care, Riverstone is also expanding into perinatal mental health support for expectant and new mothers. One of the most unique offerings, however, is William's Nature Informed Therapy—a practice that integrates natural surroundings into mental health treatment.
"Nature can be a wonderful co-therapist," William says. "Our increasing disconnection from the natural world is contributing to stress, anxiety, and burnout. Reconnecting with nature can be a powerful tool for healing."
CONTINUED >
Whether in a forest, a garden, or by the water, Nature Informed Therapy creates space for mindfulness and emotional processing in a setting that soothes the nervous system and fosters reflection. Riverstone will soon launch a six-week "Nature Therapy for Wellness" course, offering structured sessions for those dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, or grief.
At its core, Riverstone values presence, compassion, and collaborative care. William and his team understand that each client is the expert of their own experience. From the very first contact, clients are met with curiosity and respect, and guided through personalized care rooted in both evidence-based modalities—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy—and genuine human connection.
"Respect is paramount," William emphasizes. "The relationship between therapist and client is foundational. It’s not about giving advice, it’s about creating space for people to explore, grow, and heal."
Riverstone’s new six-week course, led by William Henry, LCSW, integrates mindfulness, movement, and nature connection to help manage anxiety, stress, grief, and more. Held outdoors, these 90-minute experiential sessions offer participants powerful tools to support mental wellness—while reconnecting with the natural world.
“We want every client to feel heard and empowered. Change is then more than possible. This is where healing begins.”
For children and adolescents, the Riverstone team uses developmentally sensitive approaches. “Kids need more structure and guidance,” William explains. “Teens are learning to become adults, trying on identities. Adults often come with goals in mind—and we collaborate to reach them, while always respecting the pace and process that’s right for each person.”
What sets Riverstone apart isn’t just the range of services, but the shared mission: to foster healing through togetherness. In a time where disconnection and loneliness are on the rise, William is intentionally building a practice rooted in belonging.
That connection extends into the community as well. Riverstone is actively involved in local outreach and aims to expand partnerships with green spaces and community organizations to make nature-based therapy more accessible. As William says, "We want to grow in concert with the needs of our community."
A personal story grounds his why: William remembers the loneliness of adolescence—and the power of feeling heard for the first time. "That’s what I carry into every session," he shares. "That someone listened, and it made all the difference."
Riverstone is a place where listening, healing, and change happen—together.

Tim Mack, founder and president of Birdscaping Industries, is transforming suburban backyards into thriving habitats for birds and pollinators. Based in Larchmont, New York, his company specializes in designing custom aviaries and creating native plant landscapes that support local wildlife.
Mack's passion for birds began in his youth and evolved into a mission to reconnect people with nature. He emphasizes the importance of using indigenous plants like elderberries, blueberries, and river birches to attract a diverse array of bird species. These plants not only provide food and shelter but also contribute to pest control and overall ecosystem health.
In addition to landscaping, Birdscaping Industries offers a range of products, including bird feeders, optics, and backyard birding accessories. The company also maintains a nursery specializing in conservation biological control indigenous plants, further supporting their commitment to ecological sustainability.
Mack's philosophy is simple: "Plant what’s supposed to be there, and they will come." He encourages homeowners to use organic materials like twigs and milkweed fibers for nesting, avoid synthetic substances, and provide clean water sources to create inviting environments for birds.
Through his work, Tim Mack is not only enhancing the beauty of Westchester's landscapes but also fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world. His efforts demonstrate how thoughtful gardening practices can make a significant impact on local biodiversity.

Nick Loeb manages a holding and venture management company focused on developing lifestyle brands and investments. These projects range from Technology, Fashion, Film, and TV to Food, Wine, the Environment, and Government. Before becoming an entrepreneur, he worked at Lehman Brothers in private banking and Universal Studios in corporate development, motion picture finance, and production.
“Through this event, we’re not only showing appreciation—we’re providing real support that opens doors for the next generation.”
He has launched the Nick Loeb Foundation, a nonprofit that will bring truth to education by developing historical television and film projects, creating a speakers series focused on community, leadership, and business, and funding scholarships for children of first responders.
On Saturday, June 28th, Nick and his family will host the 4th Annual Party with the Police at his home in Purchase, New York. “Our officers put their lives on the line to serve our communities every day, and yet many of their families struggle to afford the rising costs of higher education. Through this event, we’re not only showing appreciation—we’re providing real support that opens doors for the next generation. It’s personal for me. I’ve dedicated much of my life to supporting education, starting with scholarships in high school, and I’m proud to continue that mission by helping the children of first responders achieve their academic dreams”.
The foundation is dedicated to bridging the gap between community members and the law enforcement officers who serve them. By hosting this annual event, he aims to foster trust and support, ultimately leading to safer and more connected communities. Money from this year’s annual Party with the Police event will help police officers in Greenwich, Connecticut, White Plains, and Harrison, New York, pay for college tuition. Last year, three $25,000 scholarships were awarded.
This year’s event will feature special guests from the New York Yankees, New York Mets, along with delicious food, live music, and water activities for the whole family to enjoy. Tickets are available through the Nick Loeb Foundation website. thenickloebfoundation.com
Kregg Moyer’s journey into golf was an unexpected one. Growing up as a versatile athlete in high school, Moyer excelled in multiple sports but never had golf on his radar. That all changed when, after college, he took a summer job at a golf shop in Syracuse, New York. “I didn’t know much about golf, but I was drawn to the sport,” Moyer recalls. “The golf pro at the course asked me if I’d be interested in buying a struggling club repair business. At 23, I said yes, and that’s where my golf career started.”
The business, which focused on club reshafting and repairs, taught Moyer the basics of the trade and management. Over the next 10 years, he developed a deep understanding of golf equipment and customer care. “I worked on everything from reshafting to restoring persimmon wood clubs,” he says. “It was a fascinating experience that exceeded my expectations.”
In the 1980s, Moyer moved to Westchester County to pursue a career as
a PGA golf professional, working at Ardsley Country Club and several other clubs in the area. “Westchester is intoxicating,” Moyer says. “The quality of the golf courses here, the history—it’s unmatched. I’ve been lucky to work with so many amazing people.”
Over the years, Moyer’s passion for teaching grew. His coaching philosophy is centered on the belief that a golfer’s success depends not just on skill, but also on understanding human movement.
“THE BEAUTY OF GOLF IS THAT IT BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER”
“I’m certified in Therapeutic Movement Release (TMR), which helps people move better and prevent injury,” he explains. “If I can help my clients move better, they’ll be able to swing the club more consistently and control the ball better.”
Moyer’s approach to teaching golf is unique. “Golf isn’t just about hitting a ball; it’s about understanding the geometry of the swing,” he says. “When you know where you’re going with the swing and how the club face looks at impact, you gain confidence. That clarity makes a big difference.”
“New golfers often want to hit the ball right away, but that can lead to poor habits,” he explains. “It’s about understanding the full body experience. The swing has to be more than just mechanical—it needs to feel natural and connected.”
Moyer’s method also includes helping his students embrace the physicality of the game. “I use simple movements, like tossing a ball underhand, to show how the body should move,” he explains. “Once golfers understand those basic patterns, it becomes easier to translate that to swinging a club.”
For Moyer, golf is more than just a sport; it’s a way to connect with others and enjoy nature. “The beauty of golf is that it brings people together,” he says. “Whether you’re playing with friends or strangers, the ups and downs of the game connect us all.”
Moyer has spent over 35 years in the golf industry, and he’s still evolving as both a coach and a player. “Golf is a lifelong journey,” he says. “The game is always changing, and I’m always learning.” He currently coaches at Game On Golf Center in White Plains, which he describes as a hub for golfers of all levels. “If you want to improve, Game On is the place,” he says. “It’s a supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace.”
Moyer is grateful for the life and career he’s built in Westchester. “Living here has been very positive for my entire family,” he says. “The landscapes are beautiful, the golf courses are world-class, and the community is incredible. I’m lucky to have found a career that I’m passionate about and that allows me to share that passion with others.”
Favorably referred to as the “Last Best Place” and the “Treasure State,” Montana has captured the hearts of cinematic cowboys like Taylor Sheridan and Harrison Ford and inspired the television series, “Yellowstone” and its prequels, “1883” and “1923.” Though fictional, they’ve reminded America of its deeply-rooted spirit for adventure and the simple yet rugged way of life that we all crave. Whether its the backdrop of jagged, snowcapped peaks or the endless golden pastures that are peppered with livestock, this Rocky Mountain soil is a breeding ground for dreamers and doers, and the people who call it home are no strangers to the ritual of ranch life.
So, you want to be a cowboy? Slipping on some leather and having a little hide in your hat are good ways to start, but visiting a resort that brings the best of this life to the forefront, while also embracing modern luxury, is the experience of a lifetime. Personalization is key—a divine selection of cuisine for the foodies, awe-inspiring activities for the adrenaline seekers, and world-class lodging that tickles every fancy from stargazing glamping, to timber-style family dwellings, to the uniquely designed green “o hauses” that invite the outside world in.
To change your attitude, you need a change in altitude. Gain some speed or turn up the adrenaline level with ATV tours, electric biking, mountain biking, go-karts, paintball, rappelling down Lookout Rock or whitewater rafting down the Blackfoot River. Indulge in the western art of living with archery, fly-fishing, hiking or sporting clays. For those who want to immerse themselves in the language of horses, there are horse-related adventures such as lessons, grooming or feeding, horse-whispering workshops or organized trails rides. Riders can also enjoy cattle drives that bring you back to yesteryear—driving a herd of cattle across the famed landscape—and bear witness to mustang gentling, where the Equestrian Manager communicates with a wild horse through body language and tone of voice.
