GEN ERATIONAL PERSPECTIVE TO THEIR HOMES
Have you ever wondered, “Do fathers matter? What differences do I make in my home as a dad?” Let’s start with the simple answer — the importance of a father is tremendous! Fathers make countless differences in their home and family. However, how much impact you decide to make as a dad is entirely up to you!
A father’s gifts of quality time, life-giving words, and positive actions have a long-lasting impact on his children.
As I reflect on fatherhood this month, here are just a few of the ways dads can build up their home:
• A father’s strength can be powerful
• A dad’s words can be fueling and inspirational
• Hugs from a dad can be deeply comforting
• A dad’s smiles can instill joy and confidence
• Time with a dad can be fun and productive
• A dad’s physicality can be challenging
• A dad’s guidance can be life-changing and foundational
• A father’s correction can be life-saving and life-giving
• Adventures with a dad can be exciting and memorable
Let your father or a father figure in your life know how much he matters to you. And if you are a dad, let us be the first to say - thank you. You are invaluable to the people who know and need you as well as the community around you.
Happy Father’s Day!

The National Medal of Honor Museum aims to preserve and share the stories of war heroes. The somber atmosphere of the museum is tangible before even entering its space. In the exhibit of rotating interactive videos, visitors can ask the recipients a myriad of questions about their lives before, during, and after war. The recordings go into detail about the actions that earned them the medal, how they felt after, and their thoughts on war.
The Veterans Affairs office with Fort Worth's Animal Care and Control department just launched P.A.W.S. for Patriots, which offers veterans the opportunity to work with shelter animals in a variety of volunteer capacities. P.A.W.S. for Patriots empowers veterans through therapeutic volunteer opportunities, career pathways and vital resources while improving the lives of shelter animals. The program currently focuses on traditional fostering, where veterans provide a temporary home to shelter animals waiting for permanent adoption.
Darvetra Parker's 29 year-old son Kevin weighed only two pounds at birth. “He is totally blind and autistic,” Parker said. “He is a miracle." Like many parents of children with disabilities, Ms. Parker could not find activities to include Kevin as he became an adult. Enter Lisa Lee Schmidt, founder of non-profit, Big Heart Theater. They work with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities to create original musical theater productions at local community centers.

In Southlake, Texas—a place where ambition is grounded in integrity and community is more than just a backdrop—two brothers are living proof that building a thriving business and raising strong families aren’t mutually exclusive. For Tie and Boone Lasater, legacy isn’t what you leave behind—it’s what you bring to life: every day, in every decision, in the quiet moments no one sees.
What began in 2004 as a small, family-run real estate venture has grown into KeyCity Capital—a nationally recognized private equity firm helping others build lasting wealth. With a vertically integrated approach and a mission rooted in trust, Tie and Boone have turned personal grit into a platform for generational impact.
Over the next decade, their vision expanded with purpose. They launched a construction company to support their growing portfolio and brought operations under one roof, ensuring every detail reflected their values. As success gained momentum, so did the trust of those around them. By 2014, they welcomed a small circle of investors. Then in 2017—after a pivotal year—they launched their first official fund, transforming a family-built foundation into a shared path toward lasting legacy.

“This business is about helping people,” Boone says. “We’re not just investing—we’re creating opportunities for families to secure their future, just like we’ve worked to secure ours.”
That mission is the heart of their work. By acquiring, developing, and managing every asset in- house, they’ve built a model that prioritizes consistency, transparency, and care. “Our investors aren’t just buying into a deal,” Tie explains. “They’re partnering with people who treat every dollar like it’s their own family’s future.” Behind every strategy is a commitment— to protect what matters most and to help others build a future they’re proud of.
Tie and his wife, Karah—his high school sweetheart—have been married for 16 years and are raising three children in Southlake. Their son, Keagan, is a proud Dragon football player.
Londyn, their 12-year-old daughter, is a competitive cheerleader preparing to perform in London. And 8-year-old Gemmah is already competing in equestrian events with her horse, Gypsy. “I travel a lot,” Tie says, “but Sundays are sacred. I want my kids to remember that I showed up—for the big things and the small.”
Weekends are a mix of cheer competitions, riding lessons, and family getaways. “We love to travel,” Tie adds. “This summer we’re heading to Mexico, London, Colorado—and spending time at our place in Florida to recharge.”
Boone and his wife Dana, a Physician Assistant, are in the thick of early parenthood with their 18-monthold daughter, Josephine—and another baby on the way. “It’s not always easy,” Boone says, “but it’s everything. These are the moments you don’t get back.” With two busy schedules, they’ve learned to be intentional. “I treat time with my family like any important meeting— because nothing matters more.”
That same purpose drives the culture they’ve built. Grounded in values like Servant Leadership, Extreme Ownership, and “60 More”—a mindset of always giving a little extra—it’s no surprise their team has earned

national recognition from Forbes and Inc. “We’ve built a team that believes in this mission as much as we do,” Tie says.
Choosing Southlake as home wasn’t a coincidence—it was a reflection of their roots. “Growing up in Stephenville taught us the value of hard work and faith,” Tie says. “Southlake shares those values. It’s where we wanted to raise our families and build something meaningful.”
Giving back is part of that foundation. Through their nonprofit and community partnerships, they’ve raised funds for causes close to their hearts—from supporting vulnerable children and empowering single mothers to investing in youth programs. “We believe in showing up for the community that shows up for us,” Boone says.
In an industry chasing what’s next, the Lasaters are focused on what lasts. They’re building with care, leading with heart, and staying grounded in the values that started it all. Because to them, legacy isn’t just a word—it’s a way of life. And through KeyCity Capital, they’re doing exactly what they set out to do: connecting capital to wealth.
Some foundations are poured with concrete. Others are poured with conviction…
Southlake isn’t just where the Moss family builds— it’s where their values resonate, their vision takes shape, and their homes leave a lasting impact. For Paul and Kyle Moss, building in this community—and the ones surrounding it—is more than a profession. It’s a calling. A chance to create spaces with meaning— where lives unfold, memories are made, and futures take root. And behind every project is a family whose presence is embedded in every detail, from first plans to final finishes.
Founded in 2020 by Paul Moss and his son Kyle, Beckett Graham may be young in name, but its foundation was laid long ago. Paul, a second-generation general contractor, has been building across the DFW area since the early 1980s. Kyle, raised on job sites beside his father, absorbed not only the craft—but the character behind it. After earning his degree from Texas Tech, he launched a successful custom home business in 2012. It was only a matter of time before the two joined forces—not just as builders, but as partners in a shared calling.
“We always knew we’d end up doing this side by side,” Kyle says. “It’s never been just about houses. It’s about where we came from—and what we’re creating for the future.”

That mission is anchored in family. Paul and Kyle oversee construction and design, while Donna Moss—Paul’s wife and the matriarch of the family—brings timeless vision to interior design.
Their daughter Tiffany manages the day-to-day office operations, while their other daughter, Ashley, serves as both the company’s realtor and brand developer. This isn’t symbolic involvement—it’s active, daily dedication. From client meetings to site visits, material selections to marketing strategy, each family member plays a critical role. Beckett Graham isn’t just owned by the Moss family—it’s run by them, shoulder to shoulder, every single day.
Even the name “Beckett Graham” is rooted in meaning. It’s a tribute to Kyle’s son, Beckett, and Paul’s middle name, Graham—connecting three generations with a name that carries both history and hope. It’s not just a brand. It’s a declaration of purpose: honoring the past while building toward a meaningful future.
“Everything we do is personal,” Paul says. “This isn’t just business—it’s our family, our name, and our community. We put our hearts into every home.”
That care is evident from the very beginning. Beckett Graham doesn’t operate at a distance. Paul and Kyle are present from the first conversation to the final walkthrough—on-site, engaged, and intentional. They don’t measure success in square footage or volume—but in trust earned and relationships developed.
“We’re building the places where families will live their stories,” Kyle says. “That requires more than precision—it requires connection. It’s emotional, not transactional.”
Their homes across Southlake and surrounding areas reflect that heart. While the Moss family lives just outside the city limits, their work is deeply woven into the fabric of the community.
“Southlake holds itself to a high standard,” Paul says. “And we’re proud to rise to meet it.”
Weekends often find the Mosses at the ballfields cheering on grandkids, listening to live music at Central Market, or gathered at church followed by lunch. Faith is CONTINUED >
“WE ALWAYS KNEW WE’D END UP DOING THIS SIDE BY SIDE,” KYLE SAYS. “IT’S NEVER BEEN JUST ABOUT HOUSES. IT’S ABOUT WHERE WE CAME FROM—AND WHAT WE’RE CREATING FOR THE FUTURE.”
more than a tradition—it’s the compass that guides every decision, personal and professional. It’s not just part of their business model. It’s the foundation.
Kyle and his wife Katie are raising their three children—Beckett (6), Callan (4), and Ellis (1)—with the same values that guide their work. “It’s chaotic sometimes,” Kyle laughs, “but we’ve learned to be intentional with our time. Whether it’s lunch at school or a moment on the sidelines—it all matters.”
The Moss family lives within minutes of each other and thrives on closeness—both in work and in life. From birthdays to business meetings, they’ve built a culture that’s both professional and personal. “We didn’t want to choose between family and work,” Donna says. “So we built a business that lets us do both—well.”
That commitment to purpose extends far beyond their team. Beckett Graham is a proud partner of the St. Jude Dream Home initiative, with their next build expected to raise more than $200,000 for pediatric cancer research. “If we’re able to build something beautiful,” Kyle says, “we should use that to do something meaningful.”
Of course, their craftsmanship speaks for itself. Their homes are elegant, enduring, and tailored to the unique lives of the families who live in them. But it’s the unseen elements—the prayer over the foundation, the quiet integrity in every decision—that leave the most lasting impression.
“There’s peace in knowing you did it the right way,” Paul reflects. “Not the fastest, not the flashiest—but the way that lasts.”
At Beckett Graham, success isn’t measured in square footage or spotlight—it’s measured in impact. In communities like Southlake, where roots run deep and reputations are earned over time, their quiet commitment to doing things the right way speaks louder than any headline.
This isn’t just a business. It’s a promise kept. A name honored. A vision shared by a family who believes that building with heart will always stand the test of time. Because when every nail is driven by purpose and every decision shaped by faith, what you build becomes more than a home—it becomes a legacy that lives in the hearts of those who call it theirs.

Like many impressionable kids with giddy enthusiasm for their favorite sport, Scott Stallings discovered his interest for golf at the young age of 3.
But it was the “aha moment” for his LOVE of the game that came in 1997 when Tiger Woods won the Masters and would forever change the entire landscape of the industry, as well as what Stallings would aspire to achieve in his future professional endeavors.
Upon realizing “that Woods wasn’t that much older than him,’’ Scott set himself into overdrive to “get it together” and tapped into his natural drive to be one of the best.
He trained his way through achieving allstate golfer and Dean’s List status in high school. He was a seven-time tournament winner and was an All-American while attending Tennessee Tech, and he has won on the PGA Tour three times as a professional golfer.
In 2016 he learned he had been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and acute adrenal fatigue. It was a result of some unhealthy nutritional habits, both of which affected his ability to continue effectively as a professional athlete.
With the guidance of doctors, surgeons, and his good friend Rich Froning, a four-time Crossfit champion, Scott developed a workout to trim 60 pounds, boasting 10% body fat, revising his daily eating habits, and sleeping healthily through the night.
“I came to the realization that it was no one’s fault but my own. The excuses and finger pointing led back to me, and once you take ownership, you take power in that,” Scott says.
“The voice within gave me some scary realizations that I always hated the doctor, and that they would tell me something was wrong. I learned a little information goes a long way, and that saved my health. Make one change today, and make another one tomorrow, and you’ll never look back.”
Had Scott not gone to the doctor because of that innate fear, he never would have known the diagnosis of sleep apnea that needed to be addressed.
“You only get one body,” he says.
Luckily for Scott, he didn’t have an overwhelming, crazy life overhaul. Instead, he was able to find one small thing, delivering simple systematic changes in his workout that led to his improvement in fitness and quality of life.
He still was driven to be one the best PGA Tour players and the best family guy he could be, and he would do all of the discovery, the surgeries, and the daily changes all over again to continue living his best life.
“I legitimately have some great people push me and stay around me,” Scott says.
Scott has traveled the world over, playing on some of the best courses around, from Augusta National twice, to courses across Asia, Europe, Australia, and the hope to cross the Middle East and more stunning destinations in New Zealand off his global travel list. His next “bucket list” trip?
Today, Scott happily shares healthy time with his wife and kids and is leading up The Scott Stallings Kids Play Free Junior Golf Initiative, a partnership with the Tennessee Golf Foundation to bring free junior golf to the Knoxville area.
KETTLEBELLS
Cast iron or cast steel ball with a handle attached to the top; ideal for exercises that combine cardio, strength and flexibility training.
BARS AND WEIGHTS
A long iron bar on which weight plates are placed. Weights come in a variety of styles, including weight plates, barbells and dumbbells.
DUMBBELLS
Short barbells, usually held in each hand
MEDICINE BALLS
Weighted balls roughly the diameter of the shoulders that are used for strength training and rehabilitation
KETTLEBELL POWER SNATCH:
Uses ground force to leverage the kettlebell upward, then the shoulder, arm and back support the weight as it gets pushed overhead. Also a great cardio exercise and trains the body for a good golf swing.
KETTLEBELL HALO:
Start by holding the kettlebell upside down at chest height, then lift the weight to head height and rotate it around the head like a halo in both directions. This exercise focuses on shoulder mobility— which is important for a good golf swing— and warms up the muscles and soft tissue around the shoulder girdle.
CLEAN TO LUNGE:
First, the kettlebell is lifted from the ground to shoulder height. Then, the foward lunge loads weight into the legs one at a time, which happens from the backswing to the downswing. The exercise increases strength in calves and forearms, which is essential for a powerful swing.

The sun has returned, and grilling season is upon us. With the nice weather comes vegetable gardens and fresh produce, along with the overwhelming desire to be outside as much as possible. We’ve compiled some fresh and light dishes that you can shop for at your local farmers market and whether you’re looking for a quick mid-week meal or something to grill for a crowd on the weekend these dishes won’t disappoint. These pair well together or can stand on their own!
1. Place skirt steak into gallon freezer bag
2. Combine all other ingredients in bowl and mix. Pour over steak and marinate for 3-4 hours or overnight in the fridge.
3. Bring skirt steak to room temperature by letting it sit out for one hour.
4. Get your grill hot on one side and medium on the other.
5. Once the grill is ready, wipe excess marinade off steak. Starting on the hot side, place skirt steak on grill for 2 minutes per side, attaining a nice sear.
6. Transfer steak to the cooler side of grill and cook until the internal temp is 130°. Let rest for 10 minutes (temp will rise while resting).
7. Carve and serve. This dish pairs well with beans and rice or served as tacos. Following is a chimichurri sauce that compliments it nicely.
*Outside skirt steak is a more tender cut than inside skirt steak, for this recipe outside skirt is recommended. Do not use too much lime as the citrus can cook the meat before putting it on the grill, resulting in a tougher texture.
• 2lbs. Outside skirt steak*
• 2 Tablespoons lime*
• 2 Tablespoons finely,
chopped cilantro
• ¼ Cup olive oil or avocado oil
• ¼ White onion, finely chopped
• 1 Tablespoon cumin
• Salt and pepper to taste
• ½ Cup parsley, finely chopped
• ½ Cup cilantro, finely chopped
• 2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar
• 3 Cloves garlic, minced
• 1 Red chili (whole or deseeded depending on desired level of heat)
• ½ Teaspoon dried oregano
• 1 Teaspoon salt
• 1 Tablespoon lime juice (optional)
Combine all ingredients in a bowl. You can make this in the late morning and let it sit for around 4-6 hours, or you can make it the day before and let the flavors meld overnight in the fridge. Just be sure to take it out and get it to room temp before you serve it, as olive oil hardens in the fridge. Serve over skirt steak or tacos.
• 2 Ears sweet corn
• 10oz. Cherry tomatoes
• ¼ Cup lime juice
• 1 Finely chopped jalapeno or serrano (whole or deseeded depending on desired level of heat)
• ¼ Cup cilantro, finely chopped
• ½ Cup white onion, chopped
• 2 Cloves garlic, minced
• Salt to taste
1. Grill corn, you do not need to soak the corn beforehand.
2. Place corn on the grill (inside their husks) over medium heat turning every few minutes.
3. After 10 to 12 minutes shuck the corn and put the cobs back on the grill for 2-4 minutes rotating frequently to achieve that charred look and flavor.
4. Cut the corn from the cob, place in bowl and add all other ingredients. Let the mixture meld for about an hour and serve with tortilla chips or as a taco garnish.

USING THESE TIPS YOU CAN MAKE A DELICIOUS HOMEMADE BARBECUE SAUCE.
A good barbecue sauce is comprised of a variety of the same six components. The key is to discover what style you enjoy most, and don’t be afraid to experiment. Oh, and taste often during the preparation process to adjust if so desired.
SOMETHING SWEET
This can be honey, cola, molasses, preserves, brown sugar, or syrup. This caramelizes as you cook, bringing those smoky, sugary flavors.
SOMETHING TANGY
Think vinegar, mustard, or citrus. This is what brings the zing to your sauce.
SOMETHING SPICY
This provides your heat: a hot sauce is a great choice. A good rule of thumb is to use about 1/2 teaspoon for every cup of sauce you’re making.
SOMETHING LIQUID
It can be beer, water, chicken stock, soda, or wine. Start with about 1/2 a cup and see what happens.
SOMETHING TOMATO
You’ll most likely use ketchup, but you can also use tomato paste.
THE SPICE COMBINATION
This can depend on your liking and taste and can include anything from onion powder to garlic powder to chili powder to allspice to cayenne pepper to mustard powder to liquid smoke to cumin to Worcestershire sauce and more. Start with a teaspoon of salt, and keep tasting as you experiment with your desired spices.
• 2 cups ketchup
• 1 cup water
• 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
• 5 tablespoons brown sugar
• 5 tablespoons sugar
• 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
• 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
• 1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to simmer. Cook uncovered, stirring frequently, for 1 hour 15 minutes.
