Cheers friends,

I hope this letter finds you in high spirits and full of creative energy as we move into early fall and settle in.

Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate and explore the fascinating world of style. Style is not limited to the clothes we wear or the way we adorn ourselves. It encompasses every aspect of our lives. From the way we decorate our homes, as you can see really fabulous home decor on page..... to the music we listen to, from the books we read, to the way we carry ourselves in conversations, style permeates every facet of our existence. It is the thread that weaves together the tapestry of our lives.

Style is deeply personal. And it evolves as we celebrate our quirks, our passions, and our desires. Style is a form of self-expression that communicates who we are, how we perceive the world and what we value. In this way, style becomes a powerful tool for connection. Our cover story on page 46. brings a unique styled place for those who appreciate art, design and good food and drink together and celebrate. I had the pleasure to attend  a champagne tasting and pairing and it was magnificent!

As individuals, we have the freedom to embrace established styles, blend them together, or forge entirely new paths, becoming trendsetters ourselves. We hope this issue inspires you to forge new paths or perhaps explore familiar ones. There is so much here in Roswell to uplift our spirits, boost your productivity and ignite your creativity. The style of giving back is a huge source of influence in our town as well, as you flip through our pages shining a light on more nonprofits around town.

What I’ve found is that the best style is an authentic expression of who you really are. And that’s something no one on earth can duplicate. Please continue to support our local businesses that adorn the pages here within and I hope to see you around our town soon!

Who Knew?

Every year, the U.S. alone generates about 295 million scrap tires. Tires take a very long time to decompose and take up a large amount of space. They can be recycled into rubber playground turf, outdoor running tracks and more. Roswell residents can drop off no more than four tires at one time per day at the Roswell Recycling Center.

Using Your Gifts for Good

Music + Healthcare = Perfect Harmony

PHH focuses on synchronizing the body by cueing rhythmic movement with Neurologic Music Therapy.

Perfect Harmony Health began as a dream in 2010, founded as The George Center for Music Therapy (GCMT) to address the financial burden placed on families of individuals with needs. In 2020, after ten years of operating as one of the most successful private practices in the southeast, the GCMT transitioned to operate only as a nonprofit, Perfect Harmony Health (PHH).

PERFECT HARMONY HEALTH HAS THREE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES:

• We believe we have a unique, necessary, and innovative form of therapy that should be accessible to anyone who seeks the service.

• We believe in our clients, in their abilities, and not putting a ceiling on their potential, but rather providing them with foundations for future success.

• We believe we can change the lives of our clients and their families and have programs that improve the transfer of skills from individual therapy to everyday life.

Executive Director Hannah Rinehart explains, “We believe that just because healthcare is innovative does not mean that it should be a luxury. Our team specializes in treating the whole person in harmony by connecting the brain, composing the mind, and synchronizing the body by providing therapy, resources, and community access”.

PERFECT HARMONY HEALTH FOCUSES ON THREE ASPECTS:

Connect the Brain -- When it comes to neurologic injuries and diseases, the types and variations are as diverse as the people experiencing them. Historically, the focus is on expectation. At PHH, the focus is on building neurologic foundations for future success using Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT)® techniques to work around areas of the brain that are dark or

disconnected. And, with NMT®, you can restore blocked speech, break behavioral loops, strengthen and pave new neural pathways in damaged brain areas, and free trapped memories and reinforce new ones.

Compose the Mind – Your state of mind is the baseline for cognition. Everything builds on this emotional baseline, like social skills and physical skills. At the peak of the pyramid is executive function. You must be in a good headspace before you can think clearly. It starts in individual sessions, and it culminates in group programs where you get to relate to others. This kind of work is powerful in a group setting because music speaks where words fail with the ability to build friendships across generations, dissolve feelings of loneliness and isolation, improve mood and self-esteem, improve emotional processing and regulation, and improve social skills.

Synchronize the Body -- Your sense of self-worth is tied to your ability to do everyday tasks independently. Many adults are actively fighting a decline. Imagine how demoralizing it can be when people assume your physical limitations mean you have low intelligence.

PHH focuses on synchronizing the body by cueing rhythmic movement with Neurologic Music Therapy techniques to help people manage their daily tasks by improving motor functioning and motor skills as well as regulating the sensory system through instrumental exercises.

“We have made education, innovation, and research a cornerstone of who we are and we are proud to be the only practice in the Southeast that is 100% composed of neurologic music therapists, many of whom are also fellows. Our story is ever-changing, focused on the future, and treating the whole person in harmony,” says Hannah.

We believe we have a unique, necessary, and innovative form of therapy that should be accessible to anyone who seeks the service. “

A NEW CHAPTER

DUFFY SCOTT INTERIORS BREATHE LIFE INTO AN EMPTY NEST

When a jet-setting couple returned home to their empty nest after a trip, they saw opportunities for creating new spaces for themselves. Feeling inspired, they reached out to Duffy Scott Interiors for help renovating their home to fit their new needs (and dreams).

For her, designers Christy Scott Spearman and Kate Duffy created a work space and coffee bar in a bonus room above the garage. “This was lovingly dubbed the Lady Lair by the client,” says Kate. " This space was all her, the goal was to create a space for her to work in and dial into her creativity as she was writing (she's an author). She loved the feminine side of design, but also loved modern and vintage. We pulled from all of these elements to create a colorful mash up of unique pieces that resulted in a colorful rug, custom seating, original artwork, and vintage tables. The rest of the home leaned more into modern clean design, with a few key ‘moments’ here and there featuring stunning artwork and a few antiques from their personal collection."

For him, a sitting and reading nook was created off his current office. "His office was located on the terrace level of the home, and had a seating area to the side that became the focus of the design. There was a large stark wall that made the room feel empty and vast. While keeping the walls a clean and neutral white, we created interest by adding custom millwork and adding wall sconces," says Kate.

For them, the unfinished space in the basement is now a home gym and a powder room has received a new look.

A personal collection of art is scattered throughout the home, and splashes of color are welcoming and inspiring.

Kate and Christy have recently expanded into retail, opening Duffy Scott Home, located on the historic Marietta Square. Located at 77 Church Street. Duffy Scott Home features original art, curated vintage finds, artisan goods, and hand-crafted furniture to help customers create surroundings that are both enduring and unique. “HIS OFFICE WAS LOCATED ON THE TERRACE LEVEL OF THE HOME, AND HAD A SEATING AREA TO THE SIDE THAT BECAME THE FOCUS OF THE DESIGN. THERE WAS A LARGE STARK WALL THAT MADE THE ROOM FEEL EMPTY AND VAST. WHILE KEEPING THE WALLS A CLEAN AND NEUTRAL WHITE, WE CREATED INTEREST BY ADDING CUSTOM MILLWORK AND ADDING WALL SCONCES.”

Neck and Neck

Maybe it was the spirit of the Paris Olympics or my admiration for the style of our French compatriots, but my love for neck scarves is back.

As always, silk is it, with the smooth and airy feel of the fabric against your neck to propel you through your day. The only exception is when you go 100 percent cotton, a bandana washed and dried (and yes, ironed).

The twilly is a long narrow scarf first introduced by Hermès in the late 1930s to be worn around the neck or hair. I like to tie one around my neck and leave the knot in the back. Wrapping your handbag handle in a twilly will effortlessly elevate your look. Originally, Hermès designs were mostly equestrian scenes, a salute to the designer’s equestrian roots. Now, lucky for us, florals, color blocks, jungle animals and mythology adorn the twilly, so you can tell a story without saying a word. Isn’t that what style is, after all?

Married to Real Estate comes to Roswell. Twice!
ARTICLE BY SUE G. COLLINS
PHOTOGRAPHY BY HGTV

Power couple Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson help Atlanta families buy houses with potential and transform them into breathtaking dream homes in HGTV’s hit series Married to Real Estate. Egypt, a real estate broker and designer, and her husband Mike, an expert builder, inspire fans and keep it fun while they run successful property businesses, manage a home and raise three daughters. Egypt, who previously starred in HGTV’s  Property

Virgins and  Flipping Virgins, applies her extensive real estate and financial knowledge to find clients affordable options in their ideal neighborhoods that can be reimagined with her custom design plans. Mike and his team then maximize the budget and troubleshoot any construction issues to deliver stunning renovations that increase the homes’ value and return on investment.

They visited a Roswell couple living with their two children and mother. Bursting at the seams, the couple wanted a bigger home with character. Egypt and Mike found the right place in Roswell and looked to turn the sterile house into a Japandi dream with a new kitchen and yoga studio. Japandi style in interiors is a mashup of Japanese interiors and Scandinavian interiors—both of which have centuries worth of personal history. The roots of these intertwined aesthetics run deep.

Egypt and Mike also helped another Roswell resident turn her home's man cave into lady lair. A newly single woman is ready for a fresh start, and that means either moving into a new house or renovating her current home. Egypt and Mike crafted the perfect layout with room for entertaining and helped her settle into this next chapter with confidence.

HARMONY FOR HOPE: DEFEATING ALS
“This is a tangible goal.  ALS isn’t incurable. It’s underfunded.”

John Driskell Hopkins (HOP), founding and active member of the Zac Brown Band, was diagnosed with ALS in December of 2021. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease impacting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Progression of the disease can vary from person to person affecting movement, speech, and breathing. ALS is 100% fatal.

In response to his life-altering diagnosis; Hop and his wife Jen were called to activism and in May of 2022, this unstoppable duo launched the Hop On A Cure Foundation.

Their personal mission of Hop On A Cure, “to secure critical funding for research to ultimately find a cure for ALS” is only achievable with your help! This is a tangible goal. ALS isn’t incurable. It’s underfunded. Through community-empowered, grassroots fundraising initiatives, there have been over 150 events held across the country, and Hop On A

Cure has granted in excess of $1.6 million all directed toward finding a cure and defeating ALS.

Harmony for Hope: Defeating ALS, is Hop On A Cure’s newest fundraiser and it promises to be an incredible evening. Exquisite cuisine and exceptional wines set the tone for spirited bidding as guests vie for incredible, once-in-a-lifetime live auction prizes.

The finale of the evening is an intimate songwriter-in-the-round showcasing performances by Zac Brown, Clay Cook, Coy Bowles, Daniel de los Reyes, Bobby Yang, Lilith (Lily Costner) and other special guests. Each artist will deliver personal, memorable performances honoring their friend HOP and his fight against ALS.

Can’t join the gala? You can host your own fundraising event to benefit the mission of Hop On A Cure.

BREWABLE AND THE DRAKE HOUSE NAMED GNFCC NONPROFITS OF THE YEAR

The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce (GNFCC) recently named two local organizations its 2024 Nonprofits of the Year. This year's Small Nonprofit of the Year Award went to Brewable, while The Drake House was named Large Nonprofit of the Year at the North Fulton Focus Series event. Each year, the GNFCC honors outstanding North Fulton service organizations in recognition of the impact they have made in their communities.

BREWABLE: 2024 SMALL NONPROFIT OF THE YEAR

Founded in 2018, Brewable is the first grassroots nonprofit of its kind in North Fulton County dedicated to the employment and enrichment of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). With opportunities to train, learn, and excel in a community café setting, employees, a.k.a. "Brewistas" not only gain the necessary skills and confidence to achieve longterm success, but also a sense of purpose and belonging in the community.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire community – our Brewistas, our board of directors, our volunteers, and all of our supporters,” says

Brewable Board President Nicky Rudd. “This is a win for ALL of us who believe in Brewable’s mission and contribute to making a difference. We couldn't have achieved this without their unwavering support.”

While there are similar concepts, not all are nonprofit organizations like Brewable. The organization offers meaningful, paid employment opportunities for adults with IDD and helps build skills in customer service and real-world problem-solving. The organization fosters an inclusive work environment and demonstrates the value of inclusivity throughout the community.

THE DRAKE HOUSE: 2024 LARGE NONPROFIT OF THE YEAR

In 2004, the idea of The Drake House began as a Leadership North Fulton class project to address the number of single mothers and their children who were experiencing homelessness. Two years later, The Drake House opened its doors with a goal of helping these families achieve economic independence and long-term stability.

In a recent interview with GNFCC Vice President Rebekah Anderson, Nesha Mason, President of The Drake House (TDH), attributed the success of TDH to the community support it has received since its founding nearly 20 years ago. She says, “My favorite part of The Drake House's history is the fact that it was born from community leaders that went through Leadership North Fulton through the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and identified the need to provide housing for single mothers and their children who were experiencing homelessness – housing that would allow the whole family to overcome that circumstance with dignity and their family intact.”

As Mason explains, TDH offers programs like a professional women's career network, and it is trying to identify all the different ways it can support families. It is helping these single moms keep their families together, save money, pay down some debt, and work with program coordinators to help chart a path back to stability.

For more information on The Drake House, please visit TheDrakeHouse.org

Special thanks to GNFCC for recognizing these amazing organizations and the impact they are making throughout our community.

A petit slice of France at Resto L’Antoinette

Resto L’Antoinette, co-founded by Leonardo Moura and Chef Jamie Adams, with Chef Jeffrey Gomez as head chef and David Conavay as general manager, is a culinary haven where passion, inspiration, and exquisite flavors come together to create an unparalleled dining experience.

L’Antoinette is a heartfelt celebration of exceptional women who play a significant role in Leonardo and Jamie’s lives. The restaurant pays homage to inspiring figures, including Leonardo’s wife Antoinette, a symbol of strength and boundless love, and Chef Jamie’s wife, Kim is a cardiac nurse embodying resilience. The narrative extends further to honor other extraordinary women such as mentors, designers, and family members who have left an indelible mark on their lives. Each dish served at Resto L’Antionette carries the spirit of these remarkable women, weaving captivating stories that resonate with every guest.

We caught up with General Manager David Conavay to find out more.

SUE G. COLLINS: THE RESTAURANT IS SO GRAND, WITH EMBELLISHMENTS AND THOUGHTFULLY CURATED ART INCLUDING A 20-FOOT PASTORAL MURAL ON THE BACK WALL OF A FARM LANDSCAPE. WHAT OTHER NOTABLE PIECES ARE IN THE DINING ROOM?

David Conavay: That would be Anna Razumovskaya’s “Aurora in Red,” purchased at Vining’s Gallery in Roswell from our friend, the lovely Mary Bayus. The artist set an ever-lasting impression on owner Leonardo Moura and his family at her featured show in February with her impressive array of work. Unbeknownst to his children, Leonardo had purchased this piece and it was unveiled at a soiree with fellow collectors and loyal clients at Resto L’Antoinette the following week. During the celebration Leonardo gave an emotional speech about the experience and dedicated the piece to his son.

SGC: WHAT DECOR CHOICES CONTRIBUTE TO THE ELEGANCE OF THE SPACE?

DC: Vivian Patrie, owner of Vivian Leigh Interiors, designed this space to have grace and elegance featuring chandeliers, fine art, and fully dressed white tablecloth tables. The bar features a Patagonia-green quartz top, crystal and etched glassware, and custom welded rod-iron shelves.

SGC: FOR SOMEONE NEW TO FRENCH DINING, WHAT QUINTESSENTIAL DISHES ARE ON YOUR MENU?

DC: confit de Canard, maple leaf duck leg confit, lentil cassoulet, Lucca tapenade, consommé a l'oignon Francais, French onion consommé (with Vidalia onions, brioche, Gruyére), sole façon colbert, Dover sole (with tournée potatoes, baby spinach, beurre noisette).

SGC: AND, OF COURSE, THE SERVICE IS EXQUISITE!

DC: Yes. Chef Jeffrey Gomez is a classically trained chef with a long history of excellence in the Atlanta area.

From Buckhead Life, Haven, and Anis’ to name a few, Chef Gomez features dishes that express elegance and balance through a wide variety of flavor profiles. Chef Gomez’s creativity and touch with his cuisine translates the spirit of inspiration we are trying to convey at Resto L’Antoinette.

Our wait-staff thrives for excellence and to bring the guest a truly unique experience for Milton and the surrounding area. Whether the guest needs a guided tour through the menu or a helpful suggestion for the perfect wine pairing; Lyndsey, Ryan and Nolan are there to make every guest experience memorable with their genuinely humbled hospitality.

SGC: WHAT CAN DINERS EXPECT THIS MONTH?

DC: The main feature on the calendar will be the St. Cosme Wine Dinner on September 17th featuring wines from Rhone Valley, France such as Chateauneuf du Pape, Hermitage, and Cote de Rhone. Guests enjoy a five-course dinner paired perfectly with the wines alongside friends and neighbors.

THE OUTDOOR MOMS

CREATING COMMUNITY AND HEALING IN NATURE

ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY TRAN BUI

Lauren Preskitt, founder of The Outdoor Moms, knows first hand the challenges that new motherhood can bring. After giving birth to her daughter in September 2023, Lauren struggled with postpartum isolation and mental health.

“I didn’t think it could happen to me,” Preskitt admits. “I thought it was something I could control.”

“I JOINED THE GROUP TO DEEPEN THE RELATIONSHIP MY CHILDREN AND I HAVE WITH THE OUTDOORS IN A SAFE AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT.”
- MELISSA HEIM, MOM OF TWO.

Her friends were at different stages in their lives, with older children, leaving her feeling disconnected. Desperate for support and companionship, Lauren’s partner encouraged her to seek out new friendships.

As an outdoor lover and avid hiker, Lauren decided to reach out to other moms through a local Facebook group. She posted about a hike she planned to take, and to her surprise, two other moms joined her.

“That hike was transformative. It showed me that I am not alone in what I was feeling and that moms need a supportive, uplifting community,” Lauren recalls.

From that initial hike, The Outdoor Moms was born. The group, which hikes every Thursday at 11 a.m. in North Georgia, includes a mental health check-in where moms share their weekly wins and struggles. This simple yet powerful practice has

resonated deeply, helping the group grow from three moms to 1,500, with chapters all over Georgia and even into Alabama. Moms can join by following the group on Instagram and Facebook.

“I feel so proud of the response and I am extremely happy that moms have a place they can come and make friends, have a positive experience, and get their babies outside in nature,” Lauren says.

Jessica De Leo, a mom of one, joined The Outdoor Moms after moving to the Atlanta metro area and feeling isolated. “The first hike completely changed my life here,” she shares. “It’s allowed me to feel good about the season of life I’m in and make connections with other mothers who have and are struggling with similar circumstances,”

"I joined the group to deepen the relationship my children and I have with the outdoors in a safe and welcoming environment," adds Melissa Heim, mom of two. "It’s hard getting out of the house with kids, but knowing other moms will be around to help and there are other children my kids can play with is a win-win! I’ve gotten a piece of my own childhood back and received so much support on all things motherhood."

Looking ahead, Lauren envisions The Outdoor Moms expanding even further, with chapters in every state and possibly internationally. Her goal is to get 10,000 moms outside by 2025 and to partner with charities for their annual “International Mom’s Hiking Day” on October 12.

The Outdoor Moms is not just a hiking group; it’s a lifeline for many mothers seeking friendship, support, and a breath of fresh air.

Bags to flirt with this fall

DESIGNS THAT WORK FOR YOU

Bucket bags, oversized clutches, and giant hobo bags rule when it comes to exhibiting style and holding all of life’s necessities.  An overstuffed travel bag in a trendy color with dangles and charms signals that we are back to the bustling nature of life on the go. Smaller bags, dubbed East-to-West, now appear in elongated rectangular shapes.

DETAILS, DETAILS

Metal ring handles and circular top handles adorn all kinds of bags. Another trend to note is a fringe made from leather, metal, and natural materials.  Funky charms and tchotchkes dangle from purses, loading them up with personality.  On oversized bags, exterior compartments provide aesthetic interest and a place for everything and everything in its place.

COLORS THAT BUOY YOU

The brighter summer reds that have been so popular now deepen to shades of burnt cherry, candy apple red, and deep red wine for fall. Olive and split pea green come in a close second for fall color picks. Leopard print has also returned in everything from clutches to cross-body bags to full-size totes. Leopard print is considered neutral and can be paired with anything!

VOLUNTEERS (AND DONORS) BRING RECOVERY TO THE WATER.

Sylvia Huron, Executive Director at Reeling in Serenity

Now in its third year as a nonprofit, Reeling in Serenity is introducing more people in active recovery from substance use disorder (SUD) to the healing properties of fly fishing. Reeling in Serenity 501(c)(3) hosts free, all-day retreats where guests are paired with fly fishing guides, then learn the basics and experience the thrill of catch-and-release fishing. Guides, instructors and meeting facilitators, as well as staff and board, are all volunteers, fueled by the tight community fly fishing fosters and a desire to support those recovering from SUD.

“The stories shared at the start of every retreat, the immediate community and fierce focus that fly fishing requires provides a unique opportunity for healing,” says Sylvia Huron, co-founder and executive director for Reeling in Serenity. “The benefits are profound, giving hope and healing for our retreat guests. And honestly for all of us who volunteer as well.”

Since its inception, Reeling in Serenity 501(c)(3) has hosted dozens of guests on rivers in Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, and this year will add retreats in Colorado and Montana. All guides, program coordinators and staff volunteer their time to teach basic knots, casting and entomology after an hour of sharing and fellowship. Guests are then paired with a guide for a one-on-one fly fishing experience complete with waders, boots and gear.

Reeling in Serenity’s work is funded by donations. They host an annual fundraiser each September: an online auction with fresh and saltwater fly fishing trips,

guided trips in national parks and on rivers coast to coast, custom rods, high-tech gear, fly boxes and art inspired by fly fishing, books, and much more. Among this year’s highlights is an amazing seven-day, six-night, all-inclusive trip to Lago Frío in Chilean Patagonia for one angler hosted by Chile Trout Patagonia, a unique opportunity to join the Flylords team for a day on an upcoming episode of their Fly Shop Tour, and a beautiful acrylic on canvas entitled “Manistee River Steelhead” by renowned artist Sarah Landström. And there’s so much more.

“Our annual auction fuels all we do,” says Sylvia. “Your bids help us continue to host retreats that are open to those who have chosen the path of recovery. We also serve as a safe space and resource for the sober fly angler doing the work one day at a time.”

Reeling in Serenity was founded by friends who met fly fishing and discovered they shared something in common. Some were in recovery from SUD and they all agreed that the friendships and focus of fly fishing were key contributors to their healing and growth. Founder Rebecca Sue Klein of Smyrna and founding board members, Jennifer Gilbert of Canton, Sylvia Huron of Athens and Ian Huron of Atlanta continue their commitment to the nonprofit’s mission, sharing their unique gifts to grow the organization and serve more people.

kind, and fun!  Most people don’t really love getting dental work done, but she made the environment so peaceful and relaxing! She has also had her own previous pageant experiences, so I felt like I could really relate to her and she knew what it was like to prepare for a pageant and what I needed.”

“I could not have done it without her and I felt so blessed knowing her and her team were rooting for me the whole way,” says Kira.  Kira is not a stranger to competition, having competed since the age of 10 as a fiddler, drummer, and dancer in traditional Irish music. She has won many National Championship titles at the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil and has qualified to compete at the World Championships for seven consecutive years. She competed in the prestigious Fiddler of London and the World Championships in

Wexford, Ireland last month. At UGA, she is pursuing her passion of journalism and sports media. She will also continue working with the nonprofit organization The Phoenix School of Irish Arts as a teacher, as well as raising money and supporting survivors of domestic violence with her sorority Alpha Chi Omega. When Kira is not pursuing one of her many interests, she enjoys traveling, reading, and most importantly, spending time with her family and friends.

Can-Do

At RISE and Throughout Roswell

Work4Eli is a for-profit e-waste disposal program that employs adults with disabilities. Founded in 2018 by Jonathan Kendrick, CEO of Digital Technology Partners, a Dental IT company in Conyers, Jonathan's son, Elijah (Eli) Kendrick was born with a heart defect, down syndrome, and was diagnosed with Autism when he was 8 years old. Eli has faced many challenges in his life, but his passion for technology has always shined through. With the lack of adult resources and his desire for Eli to be able to work with computers, Jonathan developed the idea of starting a new division of his company called Work4Eli.

The team collaborated with Roswell-based RISE coffee + tea to spotlight the meaningful work the organizations provide for the Atlanta community. "Collaborating with Work4Eli has

been a wonderful experience. It's an honor to partner with another company that, like us, employs people with special needs. The staff at Work4Eli consistently goes above and beyond," says Nicole DeWard, executive director of RISE coffee & tea.

"We celebrated our 6th Work4Eli anniversary this summer and our team has grown so much since we first started - not just in size, but in skill set as well. I am so proud of all of our incredible employees who provide such a needed service to the Atlanta area," says Jonathan. As a for-profit organization, all of the revenue generated from our services goes directly back to our team members. To date, we have provided more than 22,000 working hours for our employees and we have no plans on slowing down.

A Stylish Meal

We love this stylized salad that balances taste and presentation. This salad, perfect for September, is not only delicious but also makes for an impressive dish perfect for dinner parties or special occasions.

SALAD IS ALWAYS IN FASHION

Ingredients

FOR THE SALAD:

• 3 medium beetroots, roasted and sliced

• 100g goat cheese, crumbled

• Mixed greens (arugula, spinach, etc.)

• 1 small red onion, thinly sliced

• 1/4 cup candied walnuts

• 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds

FOR THE DRESSING:

• 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

• 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

• 1 tsp honey

• Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

ROASTING THE BEETS:

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

2. Wash the beetroots thoroughly, wrap them in aluminum foil, and roast in the oven for about 45-60 minutes until they are tender. Let them cool, then peel and slice thinly.

PREPARING THE CANDIED WALNUTS:

3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of water.

4. Once the sugar has dissolved, add 1/4 cup of walnuts and stir to coat.

5. Spread the walnuts on parchment paper to cool and harden.

MAKING THE DRESSING:

6. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, and pepper until well combined.

ASSEMBLING THE SALAD:

7. On a large serving platter, arrange a bed of mixed greens. Evenly distribute the beetroot slices over the greens. Add the red onion, goat cheese, candied walnuts, and pomegranate seeds.

Presentation Tips

• Drizzle the dressing over the salad just before serving.

• Use a white or light-colored platter to make the vibrant colors of the salad stand out.

• Arrange the beetroot slices in a circular pattern for a visually appealing look.

• Sprinkle the goat cheese and pomegranate seeds last to add pops of color on top.

Diary of a Diamond Designer

A DAY WITH JONATHAN PAZ, PRIVÉE DIAMONDS DIRECT

Over the past decade, Jonathan Paz has had the privilege of designing and creating hundreds of one-of-a-kind pieces that hold deep personal significance for clients in Roswell and beyond. His knowledge of diamonds and gemstones adds another layer of expertise to his design process. What does a diamond expert and jewelry designer do all day? We caught up with Jonathan and he shared a few stories:

Recently, we completed an exquisite engagement ring featuring a rare blue diamond, designed for a couple who wanted something truly unique. Another memorable project involved creating a custom anniversary necklace, incorporating elements from the couple’s original wedding rings. These projects allow us to blend traditional craftsmanship with modern design, resulting in timeless pieces that tell a story.

We had a pop-up shop at Avalon Festival of Speed, and a gentleman pulled up in a Batmobile. For Christmas that year, we created a one-of-akind, custom diamond Batman-inspired ring for his wife. The ring featured black and white diamonds set in 14k white gold with black rhodium to set off the black diamonds. We then had the privilege of hand-delivering this unique piece to the customer’s house in Kennesaw where we took pictures of the ring next to the Batmobile.

Custom-Created Jewelry Process

Our custom jewelry process is a collaborative journey. We start with an initial consultation, either in our boutique showroom near the Avalon or through a virtual appointment. During virtual consultations, we use shared screen technology and interactive design software to make the experience as engaging and detailed as an in-person visit. Through this method, you can see the design process in real time, providing feedback and witnessing your vision come to life on the screen. Once the design is finalized, we hand select the perfect diamonds or gemstones and move forward with crafting your piece. Thanks to the ease of technology, we work with clients all over the country, from California to New York, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience no matter where you are located.

To ensure every detail is perfect, we have the capability of providing 3D wax prints of our custom designs for clients to view and hold in real life before giving the green light to move into production. We are happy to make any modifications along the way and each time, new CAD renderings are provided. These renderings offer a photo-realistic image for the client to review, ensuring their vision is fully captured and brought to life.

Throughout the process, clients are involved in every step. I draw from my creative background in music and photography, incorporating the way I view the world into each unique design. Having been a musician since the age of 3 and performing alongside legends like Sheila E and Ringo Starr at Chastain when I was just 10, I bring a unique perspective to jewelry design, blending artistic expression with technical expertise.

Legacy and Passion for Ethical Sourcing

In 1990, my father founded Oropaz Trading, a global diamond wholesale company that fostered strong relationships between diamond miners and cutters worldwide and the U.S. jewelry retail industry. His company specializes in ethically sourced diamonds, trading, marketing, and diamond branding for major regional and national retailers. Buying diamonds is all about trust, and my father instilled in me the importance of integrity and transparency in the diamond industry.

From an early age, I grew up immersed in the business. My father taught me how to sort through diamonds, and I was inspired by his passion and success. Little did I know that one day I would venture out on my own, with my father's unwavering support, to create Privée Diamonds Direct. I’ve always admired my father’s dedication to the industry and his innovative approach to diamond branding and customer education.

While Oropaz Trading and Privée Diamonds Direct operate in different spheres of the diamond industry, they share a common foundation of ethical sourcing and customer trust. My father’s commitment to ethical diamond mining and tracking a diamond's journey from the mines to the consumer deeply influenced me. Our diamonds are sourced from all over the world, including India, Israel, Canada, and Belgium, to name a few. At Privée, we take this even a step further by prioritizing the use of recycled metals in all our custom pieces and bridal collections. This commitment to sustainability and ethical practices ensures that our clients can feel confident in the integrity of their jewelry.

My father’s emphasis on the ethics of diamond mining and his desire to innovate the customer experience have been guiding principles for me. Privée embraces these values while adding a creative touch, drawing from my background in music and photography, to design pieces that are not only beautiful, but also ethically responsible.
