Shares a season of Gratitude and Hope
OUR VERY OWN "AMERICAN IDOL" STAR IS HERE IN ROSWELL

In this season of giving thanks, we often find ourselves reflecting on the many blessings in our lives. The true spirit of Thanksgiving encourages the conscious expression of gratitude. Its focus is spending time with those that you love and encourages giving back in a meaningful way. We’ll never be content if we look outside ourselves and at our possessions or titles to determine if we are fulfilled. True contentment comes from within and from fulfilling who we were made to be in that true spirit of giving. I am humbled at the many people in our community I meet who are touched by and touch others in a serving capacity.
Our November issue is dedicated to stories of gathering, gratefulness and giving back to our community. We are so thankful for the residents and businesses in our community who support so many wonderful organizations and help make our city the vibrant community that it is.
We have so many features this month of pure gratitude and hope and inspiration and perseverance. Our cover story is just one of these examples, as Megan Danielle will be performing on our beloved Oak Street, November 3rd for the "Night of Prayer". We will give thanks and pray for hope for our nation right here in Roswell with many community leaders involved, it will be a night to remember, please join us.
We are especially thankful for our advertising partners, these wonderful local businesses who support us and who help bring this magazine to your doorsteps each month. They are part of our vision and purpose of bringing inspiring stories and the good news of the community directly to you. This holiday season as we prepare to gather with our loved ones, and in the true spirit of thanksgiving, let’s set time aside to consider what truly makes life meaningful and stop to reflect on those blessings.
Blessings to you and your family,

ARTICLE BY DENISE JAMES

Everyone has the power to be an artist. This idea is the cornerstone of The Papillon Place, a creative and social hub for artists who are different. Inspired by young artist and Roswell resident Keenan Sullivan, the space has been a long time coming; his mother, Donna, has long recognized Keenan’s creativity and says “they have always loved making art together.”
“During Covid, his classes were online, and Keenan had the opportunity to take a general education art class as well as adapted art – which is normally taught by an adapted art teacher one day a week in a self-contained room,” Donna says. “He and I collaborated daily on his art.”
One day, when his adapted art teacher was out, Keenan had the time and opportunity to watch a video about a place called Passion Works Studio, based in Ohio and employing people who have disabilities. Because her son has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and cystic fibrosis, the idea of this art studio deeply touched Donna’s heart. She knew that even though Keenan might not have the same skill set some artists might have, he nevertheless “understands everything, is smart and funny, and loves art.”
Kids and adults who have disabilities are frequently left out of opportunities, and unfairly so, Donna points out. Though other important social changes have taken place in the last decade and a half, disability continues to garner bias. Even in terms of employment, options are limited among just a few employers, like Home Depot and Publix. “As a society, we need to change the narrative when it comes to disability,” Donna says.
Changing that narrative is one of the goals at The Papillon Place – accomplished through giving kids and adults a place to creatively thrive. Named “papillon” for the word butterfly in French, the space honors the memory of Keenan’s sister, Erin, who passed away from cystic fibrosis at age 17 and was also artistic.
CONTINUED >

Erin's letter to Keenan at age 14, “You Say it
Nothing at All,” Keenan's message about life is most clearly stated.
“Keenan and Erin had a very special connection, Donna says. “A butterfly traditionally signifies hope and change, and, through Papillon Place, we hope to provide jobs and change the bias toward individuals with developmental differences.”
The mission of Papillon Place is threefold: to connect, create and inspire, and these are further broken down by how they’re accomplished. To address creation, the space will foster collaborative art with multiple artists, all contributing salable work. For connection, community engagement will be paramount, including those with abilities who might otherwise be excluded. Finally, for inspiration, Donna and the staff have the intention to inspire the community –and help them see these artists have value and purpose.
So far things are off to a great start, according to Donna. “God placed wonderful people in our world to make all this
happen,” she beams. “We have an incredibly talented board with strong business and nonprofit experience.”
Initial projects and plans for the Papillon Place include the space’s “signature” piece of art, currently in the works – a butterfly yard fixture made out of all recycled materials – as well as a teardrop camper to be converted into a mobile art studio.
“We want to eventually have a space and place that has a vibe – a place where people want to visit,” Donna says. “We hope to collaborate with other local businesses that employ people with disabilities and host community art nights and painting parties. The opportunities to connect are endless!”

THE GIFT OF LIFE… 3 YEARS LATER
ARTICLE BY JEFF FISCHER

There is no greater love than the love of a child by a parent. There is nothing that a parent wouldn’t do for their child. A good home, a good education, and so much more. And yes, life itself when threatened. And that was the case over 3 years ago with Roswell’s Albers family.
Will Albers, the son of Georgia State Senator John and Kari Albers, learned in 2020 that his kidneys were failing and failing at an alarming rate. He was admitted to the hospital where further testing proceeded along with prayers from family and friends. Will’s condition was truly life threatening with no clear reason. The doctors and medical staffs at both Northside Cherokee and Emory Hospitals realized a kidney donor would have to be found. And that donor would ultimately be his father, John.
As this magazine reported in November 2021, the transplant was successful with both John and Will healthy and fine… then and now. As John stated 3-years ago, “We are both feeling great…. With new milestones each day. The future is very bright.”
And bright it is. Yes, of course, for Will is alive today and doing well but beyond that. Often, a life-changing event, which this was, impacts not only those directly affected but other lives as well. The impact of love and outpouring of support from their congregation at Roswell United Methodist to the Georgia senate to the Roswell Rotary, was abundant. And while for many, that would be enough and end there. Not for the senator and his family.
Instead, they put their efforts into helping and supporting a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, founded in 2018,
called Second Alarm (www.2nd-Alarm.com). Second Alarm’s mission is twofold:
• To advocate for organ donation and to provide essential support to first responders. They strive to drive legislative changes, increase organ donor registrations, and ensure the safe and efficient transportation of organs.
• Offering direct assistance and resources to firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and 911 operators, recognizing the invaluable role these heroes play in our communities.
This is truly a match meant to be. Senator Albers served as a volunteer firefighter/EMT for decades continuing his family legacy which spans generations of First Responders. “Second Alarm, which means ‘I need help’ was just truly a match to meant to be,” explained Senator Albers. “Their dedication to support firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, and 911 dispatcher heroes is noble and inspiring to all. It was to our family.” Will’s story, along with the support from the entire Albers family, led Second Alarm to do even more by providing resources, community support, and assistance to those navigating the challenging journey of organ donation while still serving those who protect us.
Destiny? Fate? I’ll let the reader decide. What we do know is that a son is alive today due to the unconditional love by his father and the community, both near and far, has been enriched by bringing the Albers family and Second Alarm together. Tragedy to triumph. It's alive and well in Roswell.
“We are both feeling great…. With new milestones each day. The future is very bright.”

When a new chapter begins, get peace of mind by planning for the future. Because there’s no time like the present to financially protect their tomorrows. Tara Key, Agent T.P. Key & Associates, LLC. (770) 240-0022

ARTICLE BY TRAN BUI | PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROSWELL HIGH SCHOOL PTSA

By the time students reach high school, the pressure intensifies. They’re balancing academics, extracurriculars, social lives, college planning and the influence of social media. Many struggle with anxiety, depression, even thoughts of self-harm.
Roswell High School leaders aren’t shying away from the problem. They're tackling it head-on, thanks to the Hornet Wellbeing Committee, supported by the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).
Co-Chairs Nina Kosakoski and Allison Walker work closely with the school's Social Worker Valerie Rogers to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention through engaging activities and open conversations. This isn't just for students, but teachers and staff members as well.
Rogers has witnessed firsthand the impact of these efforts. “Having been the school social worker for more than 20 years, I can attest that over the last 5-6 years our mental health crisis cases have increased dramatically. In 2023, I was involved with 276 crisis intervention referrals from a small crisis to hospitalization.”
“In a world filled with social pressures and various stressors, it can be challenging to prioritize self-acceptance and acknowledge it's okay not to be okay,” explained Principal LaToya Miley. “We try to help students foster balanced development, improve social relationships, strengthen the mind-body connection, prepare for future challenges, and promote prevention and early intervention.”
Former committee co-chair Kim Friedman said the program has impacted her life too. “Developing these themes and activities for the students made me aware of so many tools we can use as adults to support our own well-being . I wanted to get past the slogans and hashtags and give students concrete examples of activities they could do on their own when they are feeling down or stressed out."

“In a world filled with social pressures and various stressors, it can be challenging to prioritize self-acceptance and acknowledge it’s okay not to be okay.”
“I have certainly seen a significant shift in the acceptance of help and the willingness to talk openly about mental health,” added Rogers. “High schoolers are the best advocates and truly lifesavers of their friends.”
Hornet Wellbeing Committee activities:
• Post-it notes with positive affirmations were displayed for students to take
• Flowers were provided to students to brighten their day
• Students wrote down their stress, anger, or sadness, then shredded it
• Hug a Hornet
• Therapy Pet Visits
• Bulletin Board Messages and TakeAways: calming mantras, positive affirmations, self-care checklists, social media detox.
“Each one of the PTSA members is a parent themselves who has witnessed the impact of mental health challenges and concerns, either in our own homes or the homes of our friends or kids' friends,” noted Co-President Christine Huff. “We hope that by providing resources that are slightly different from other offerings at school, it will allow these kids to feel seen, less alone, and more understood.”
The program also receives ongoing support from city leaders, the Roswell Police Department and the Roswell Fire Department. "Everyone wants to see a change for the better and wants to help lessen the stigma around the need for mental health support," said Rogers.
“I can't picture school life without this special blend of self-care, comfort, and support,” stated Principal Miley. “It adds a human touch to the realm of education, making Roswell High School distinctive. It stands out for welcoming all students, embracing their imperfections and unique imbalances with open arms.”
The Hornet Wellbeing Committee is doing more than just raising awareness—it’s creating a culture of care.

It’s a hot Saturday morning in August, and in the basement of a small, unassuming country church in Alpharetta, you can just hear a hum of conversation from the propped exterior door. Inside, scattered balloons, festive decorations, and an upbeat atmosphere scream “Celebration.”
The bell of the ball is a winsome young woman with boundless energy and affection, her expressive face lighting up as new guests enter the room. As vivacious as she is, she is in no hurry. Everyone is there for her. It’s a party to celebrate a milestone she has dreamed of since childhood: the release of her first book. Given the jovial mood, you would never know the book itself is a chronicle of the darkest time in this young author’s life.
Madison Garrett Kulp knew she wanted to be a writer from a young age, and her father, Dr. Michael Garrett, encouraged her
passion wholeheartedly. When a third grade Kulp brought home an essay about a pet orangutan, her father helped her transform it into a multi-chapter book, complete with an array of characters and family memories.
Kulp shared a love for Disney with her father, who was particularly enthralled by the imagineering behind the Disney parks. So, picture their collective excitement when Kulp was accepted into the Disney College Program after her junior year at the University of Georgia.
As she blissfully park-hopped in Orlando during the first week of her dream job, she had no idea the “Happiest Place on Earth” would become the backdrop to, not a fairytale semester, but the first heartbreaking chapters of her father’s battle with terminal brain cancer.
“I didn't really know how to be in a happy place and also be heartbroken,” says Kulp. “So I started writing about it. I would write in Magic Kingdom, on Tom Sawyer’s Island, or in the coffee shops in the resorts. And I would funnel those into some blog posts I would publish for my community.”
While she decided to stay at Disney despite her father’s diagnosis, she went home a month early so she could spend Christmas with her family. A year later, in late 2017, Dr. Garrett passed away soon after his 54th birthday.
Kulp discontinued her blog but kept chronicling her experiences with grief over the next two years, for her own sake. Now, she has consolidated all those blogs and journals into her memoir, The Happiest Place to Cry.
“I think I always knew I was writing towards a completed narrative, but I didn't really know what that was going to look like,” the author says. “[I initially] called it ‘Tell Me A Tale of Redemption,’ because I didn't know what to call it. I didn't want to call it a book. I thought, ‘I want to write towards redemption.’ And so that's what I did.”
Unlike many grief memoirs, there is an immediacy in Kulp’s book. It finds her, not 20 years down the road with many lessons learned from years of living with the pain of losing her father, but right at the beginning.

“There's a part of the book where it's four blank pages that just says, ‘What do I do?’ because that's the paralysis I was feeling,” she says. This moment in the book is modeled after a journal entry written two days after her dad’s passing, as she attempted to write his eulogy. “I wanted it to be as reflective of an actual grief experience as possible. And that is messy and not pretty and stagnant and not complete sentences.”
The Roswell writer fleshed out the story in her spare time for two years, writing in local hot spots such as Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee, Summit Coffee, and the Roswell Library. Along the way, she made a point to celebrate the process, not just the big milestones.
“I WANTED IT TO BE AS REFLECTIVE OF AN ACTUAL GRIEF EXPERIENCE AS POSSIBLE. AND THAT IS MESSY AND NOT PRETTY…”

“One of my favorite musical artists talked about how people don't just pour a glass of scotch for a well-written sentence anymore,” says Kulp. “You wait for the big moments to celebrate. And so I had that thought in my head the whole time I was writing, ‘I didn't write 900 words today, but I wrote one sentence that I'm really proud of. Let's go get a Coke Icee and celebrate the fact that I’m proud of that one thing.’”
With the holiday season at hand, Kulp plans to eat apple pie in her father’s honor.
“My dad's birthday almost always falls on Thanksgiving weekend,” she says. “It is a moment of grief, it's a moment of joy, and it's a moment of remembering how much my dad loved Christmas. And all of that is tied into Thanksgiving weekend for me. So, even if it's just me in my house, I will be having an apple pie on his birthday every year.”
Sally Fuller is a theater nerd published on BroadwayWorld.com, Encore Atlanta, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. When not writing, she works at her dream job as a mother.
It’s available online everywhere books are sold, but also at The Reading Attic in Marietta and Tall Tale in Decatur.

As the weather cools, we gather inside and outside on the porch, by the fire, and at the table to enjoy the season's blessings. Celebrating all that we are grateful for with good cheer is multiplied by the beauty of our surroundings. To make your home a gathering place for beloved family and friends and a seasonal showcase, you can elevate the décor with fresh, tried-and-true embellishments for the table, porch, and hearth. The key is to spread elements of nature and some finer pieces to make the celebration elegant and comfortable.
As people enter your home, they will be intrigued to see layers of your home and family’s personality. At the entry, double-layered welcome mats flanked by boots (old or new), lanterns, pumpkins, mums, and containers full of pansies set the stage for a fun-filled and sensory-delighting occasion as your guests enter the home. An autumn-colored wreath on the front door brings the eye up and adds to the ambiance as you greet your guests.
Around the hearth and the back porch, pumpkins, wheat grass, and more lanterns create cozy vignettes.
If you are lucky enough to have rocking or Adirondack chairs, fall-themed pillows and throws are the perfect accent to make the space feel comfortable and warm. Hay bales placed around your yard with pumpkins and pots of chrysanthemums make for a fun place to sit with some cider or dessert or watch the kids play in the yard. CONTINUED >

The base for an inviting Thanksgiving table starts with your finest warm fall-colored linens. You can also leave the table uncovered and use natural fiber placemats to keep the feel warm and earthy. Twine and mum buds are a nice touch to create a napkin holder to dress up your place settings. Another option for autumn plate décor is a small pumpkin on each plate.
Some fun Thanksgiving themes for the centerpiece are:
• Multicolored pumpkins and cream-colored candles
• Dried oats, white pumpkins, and off-white candles in distressed metal containers
• Dried hydrangea and small lanterns with fall-colored candles
• A burlap runner with distressed wooden chargers and pumpkins
• A charcuterie-style table with bowls containing nuts, olives, and dried flowers interspersed with candles and oats.
Shades of aubergine, olive, burnt orange, deep golden yellow, creams, dark gray, and black can be incorporated into your holiday decor throughout the foyer, dining room, bar, kitchen, bathrooms, guest rooms, and family rooms. By interspersing stylish pieces with more earthy and casual décor, you can keep the feel of your Thanksgiving event both elegant and inviting.

FOLLOWING HER FAITH, ONE NOTE AT A TIME
“Combining music and worship is always a meaningful night, and I’m honored to be part of it.”
Megan Danielle’s rise to stardom might have hit a high note on American Idol, but her story started in Douglasville, Georgia, surrounded by her close-knit family and the simple joys of life. Growing up with two sisters and a brother, Megan's childhood included watching her grandpa and uncles at the racetrack, playing corn hole, and spending time together.
“Family is so important to me because it’s a love like no other,” shared Megan. “I have felt such amazing support from them throughout my singing career. My grandparents meant everything to me. Losing my grandpa two years ago was tough, but I’m so grateful for the way he inspired me to be a better person and pursue music.”
Though she loved to sing, Megan was initially shy about performing. However, at 15, she mustered the courage to book her first show at a local restaurant, marking the start of her musical journey. From there, she performed at various venues, from local bars to community events, gradually building her confidence and honing her craft.
But it was one night after a performance when her grandpa offered advice that struck a different chord. “He encouraged me to follow my calling. That’s when I decided to take a step back from performing for a while to focus on discovering myself, my faith, and what God had planned for me.”
That pause paid off in ways Megan could never have imagined. In 2023, a message from a producer on Instagram led to an audition for Season 21 of American Idol. The 20-yearold placed second in the competition. “Being on American Idol was one of the coolest experiences ever. It was mentally challenging because I had to learn to believe in myself and have confidence. I also learned so much more about my gift,” admitted Megan. “I was surrounded by endless talent.”
The experience opened doors that Megan hadn’t anticipated. Not only did it give her the chance to showcase a variety of musical influences—from Miranda Lambert to Fleetwood Mac—it also connected her to Sony/Provident Music, where she’s now signed as an artist. Her first official single, "Dream Girl," has already captured fans' attention, and she’s working on more music for future releases. “I’m writing with some of the best writers in the industry, and I can’t wait for people to hear what we’ve created,” she said.
Megan’s passion for music is apparent, but it’s her faith that drives her deeper purpose. “Faith is so important to me because without it, there’s no hope,” Megan explained. “I decided to include God in my music and my message.” That decision has shaped not only her career, but also the lives of those she’s touched through her performances.
On November 3, Megan will participate in a free Pray for Our Country concert at Sunny and Ranney in Roswell. “Prayer is so important to our daily lives,” Megan noted. “Combining music and worship is always a meaningful night, and I’m honored to be part of it.”
This fall, Megan will embark on her first tour with Consumed by Fire and release a new single in collaboration with Sidewalk Prophets. Additionally, she will be joining Jordyn St. Cyr for a Christmas tour. Her first single with Sony/Provident, titled “When I Found You,” is set to be released on November 15.
“Your dream is never too small or too big,” Megan said. “Don’t quit chasing it, believe in yourself, and know that you can do anything you put your mind to.”
For Megan Danielle, music and faith are in perfect harmony. Every note she sings carries a message of hope,

This community is special and I’m so lucky to be here.
I’ve always been an athlete. Growing up in England, I played sports and without two wonderful and dedicated parents, competing wouldn’t have been possible. Cricket and rugby were played in my youth. I started golf at age 16. I knew if I could get to a high level, I’d be able to attend University in America on a scholarship. I got down to a scratch handicap within a year and went to Clayton State University in 2016 on a Golf Scholarship. My time there was incredible. I learned so much moving away from home to America. I graduated on the Presidential academic honors role and captained the Clayton State team my senior year. I proudly turned professional in 2021. I competed on the main UK Tour for 3 years, balancing part time work on the side to help fund my professional endeavors. Tragically in 2023, my father suddenly passed away. With the shock of such a loss to our family, my golf took a back seat in order to grieve with my Mum and brother. My Dad was my biggest fan. He knew as well as I do, there are no limits for me in the game and with dedication to my craft anything is possible. We were incredibly close and I know that he’s still cheering me on in my pursuit to greatness in the game of golf.
In fall of 2023 I met my girlfriend Lilly whilst traveling to Atlanta for a close friend's wedding. Her family has been Roswell residents for over 25 years including members at the beautiful Country Club of Roswell. This has been such a blessing to me. My girlfriend’s family have been the most loving, supportive people introducing me to many wonderful residents of Willow Springs and countless members of CCR. This season has been possible because of these people. A group of members at CCR named "The Big Rich Group" have invested in my season to help fund my
early career and dream. I’ve also been lucky enough to receive funding support from other residents of Willow Springs. I competed in the final stage for British Open qualifying this summer at Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club in Sanwich, England. Names such as US Open Champion Graame McDowell, Brandon Grace and Thomas Detry were also competing. It was amazing to have a Country Club of Roswell logo "Jumper" to keep me warm that week and feel like I was representing the Club.
Any investment or sponsorship goes towards Tournament Entry fees, travel and accommodations. The generosity that I’ve received from people I’ve only just been lucky enough to meet has been incredible and frankly such a shock. This community is special and I’m so lucky to be here. I have big dreams and aspirations in golf, I look forward to giving back to the community in every way I can along this journey. For my dream to become a reality, I need continued support, whether financial, or connections that can take me one step closer to dominating on the PGA Tour and beyond.
Support is so important in any professional golfer's pursuits. Tournaments are expensive, but are an integral part of making it to the next level. In my experience, the great thing about finding investors is that it creates more of a team environment. I know people are in my corner backing me to be successful, now it's time to take care of business on the course. That’s thrilling for me because I can bring people along the way with me.

FROM HEARTBREAK TO MISS GRAND USA

““Winning Miss Grand USA isn’t just about the crown,” Cora explained. “It’s about proving to myself that perseverance and faith can open doors you never thought possible.”

Cora Griffen’s rise to becoming the first woman from Georgia to win the Miss Grand USA title is a story of grit, determination, and deep gratitude. As an Afro-Andean woman and the first in her family to graduate from college, this Columbus, Georgia native’s journey has been anything but ordinary.
Losing her father at a young age deeply impacted her life. After earning her degree in political science from Auburn University, where she was also a cheerleader, Cora faced a tough road.
Through it all, her mother has been her rock. "I’m the confident and independent woman I am today because of her exemplary character and demonstration of faith," Cora reflected on their bond.
Cora briefly worked at a law firm before taking on the role of Miss Georgia USA in 2022. Now, at just 28 years old, she’s an editor, writer, model, media personality, and the founder of Chandié, a home fragrance line.

“Winning Miss Grand USA isn’t just about the crown,” Cora explained. “It’s about proving to myself that perseverance and faith can open doors you never thought possible. I’m beyond grateful for the people who’ve been in my corner, pushing me forward, even when I doubted myself. Without them, I wouldn’t be here.”
Dr. Candace Thomas, Miss Grand Georgia USA State Director is one of those people.“Cora’s faith is unshakable, and that’s what sets her apart. She doesn’t just talk about gratitude—she lives it. I’m grateful to work with someone who understands that this journey is about more than just the here and now; it’s about creating opportunities for the future and appreciating every step along the way.”
As Cora gears up to represent the USA this fall at Miss Grand International in Thailand, her story is a reminder that success isn’t just about talent or luck. Cora’s message is clear: Stay true to your vision and remain thankful, even when challenges seem insurmountable.

“Our club’s motto, ‘Service Above Self,’ embodies the joyful and dynamic spirit that we strive to uphold.”
In an exciting blend of community spirit and craft brewing, Roswell Rotary President Nancy Alterman teamed up with Roswell's own Variant Brewing Company to create a unique beverage designed to invigorate both the local community and the city's vibrant culture. This innovative partnership highlights Rotary’s commitment to service and community engagement, combining their expansive outreach with Variant’s reputation for high-quality, locally crafted brews. The result is an exclusive seltzer, aptly named "Energize Roswell," which promises to energize local residents and celebrate the town’s dynamic essence.
"Energize Roswell" is more than just a refreshing beverage; it embodies a shared vision of revitalizing and uniting the community. The brew is a lively seltzer with the vibrant flavors of hibiscus and lemonade, offering a unique twist with its floral, tangy notes. Brewed with a blend of hibiscus flowers and zesty lemonade, this refreshing concoction reflects the essence of summer and local flavor, while symbolizing a connection to Roswell’s roots. For Rotary, this project is an opportunity to further their mission of fostering positive change, while Variant Brewing Company showcases their dedication to supporting local initiatives and enhancing community life.
Nancy Alterman, President of Roswell Rotary, added "Our club's motto, 'Service Above Self,' embodies the joyful and dynamic spirit that
we strive to uphold. Energize Roswell Seltzer perfectly captures this energy with its lively carbonation and delightful flavors. It’s not just a beverage; it’s a reflection of the fun and spirited culture that defines the Club. And the partnership between our club and Variant Brewing company is just one example of the synergy created when businesses and non-profits combine their talents. Michael Curling, controller at Variant Brewing as well as Roswell Rotary Club Board member is a powerful example of servant leadership in the community and within the Club.”
Michael adds, “When we first opened Variant Brewing Company back in 2017 we wanted Variant to be THE gathering place for all Roswell community members and activities. To that end we're always excited when we get to support one of our great Roswell charities - STAR House, HomeStretch, the Drake House, and the CDA to name a few. One of the beautiful things about the Rotary Club of Roswell is when you work with the club you support all of those local organizations and more. Roswell Rotary shares the same passion for enhancing our community that we do at Variant so when President Nancy Alterman shared her vision for 'Energizing Roswell' a collaboration brew was a no-brainer. I am lucky enough to be a part of both organizations and am thrilled for Variant to be a small part of such an impactful organization like the Rotary Club of Roswell. We will do our partone 'energizing' seltzer at a time!”

Thankful for the opportunity to help Roswell residents create generational wealth

As the population of Roswell ages, more and more people are turning to experts to help them get the most out of the money they have tirelessly worked to make for decades. One Roswell business is bound and determined to help those with this need to manage their money and realize their long-term financial goals. At Georgia Safe Retirement Planners, Mike Dusombre, Jason Stoltz, Jarad Stolz and Shawn Plummer bring over fifteen years of experience and expertise to ensure that your money works for you and you have a solid plan that will take you into the next phase of life safely and securely.
Setting up "shop" in Downtown Roswell is a dream that the team recently realized by opening their doors on Canton Street. "Choosing Roswell as our home base was a natural decision for our group, as we all live in nearby areas—one of us grew up here and calls it home, while others reside in nearby communities. We are deeply committed to helping Roswell and its surrounding communities navigate their retirement goals. Many of us have friends and family who have dedicated their lives to their careers and now face uncertainty as they transition into retirement. We’ve noticed that conversations about financial matters can be uncomfortable, and some people even feel a bit embarrassed discussing their situations," says Mike Dusombre, Georgia Safe Retirement's Certified Retirement and Long-Term Care Advisor.
The team is very grateful that they have the opportunity to contribute to Roswell by sharing their knowledge and guidance. "We feel truly fortunate to be part of this vibrant community, one of the most dynamic spots in metro Atlanta. The support for local businesses here is inspiring, and we’re excited to contribute to that spirit. Our love for businesses on Canton Street and our desire to build meaningful relationships with everyone around us are at the heart of what we do," says Jarad Stoltz, Certified Retirement and Long-Term Care Advisor.
Having a business in Roswell creates ample opportunities to connect and enjoy all of the amenities that this city has to offer. Mike says, "We love spending time together out and about in Roswell. We are a sports family, and love gathering to watch games. The kids love Roswell events like the Youth Day parade and the Cops n’ Cars show. We enjoy picking up dinner at The Savory Gourmet Market or sitting down at Lola’s or Ceviche. Mom and dad love a date night at Osteria Mattone".
Jason Stolz, Certified Retirement Advisor and Office Manager says his family enjoys Roswell for the simple pleasures in life. "For fun, we love spending time as a family playing sports and cheering on our favorite teams—whether it's watching Auburn Tigers football, or rooting for the Braves and Falcons. We also enjoy reading together and relaxing by the pool whenever we get the chance. Whether indoors or outdoors, as long as we're enjoying ourselves and spending time with our large extended family, it’s perfect for us!"
The seasoned advisors at Georgia Safe Retirement Planners know what people are seeking when they reach out to them for guidance in realizing their financial goals. "We understand how challenging this can be, which is why we strive to create a welcoming atmosphere. Our approach is friendly and approachable—no sales tactics, just genuine support. We dress casually, not in suits, to foster a relaxed environment. Importantly, we offer our consultative services at no charge, so people can feel secure knowing we’re here to help, not to profit from them.", says Shawn Plummer, CEO and Certified Retirement Advisor.
The team at Georgia Safe Retirement Planners is the ideal selection for your retirement questions and concerns. Advisors can formulate a plan that suits you and the needs of your family, so that you can rest assured and move into the next phase of life with ease. Pam Billingsley, VP of Friends of Bulloch, Inc., recognized the Master Gardeners who spent

Also honored were Tod “Smiley” Baker, Ernie Geyer, and Billy Reeves, who at the Magnolia Ball donated the funds to restore the original 1839 front door of Bulloch Hall.
