With the changing seasons comes a change in what we are craving, and with fall that often means comfort food. October is our most delectable issue of the year, filled with some of our favorite dishes and beverages around town.
The smells of fall bring memories to my mind of sitting in my mom’s kitchen. The aroma of cinnamon, apple, pumpkin, chili and soups of any kind brings me right back to her table. The aroma of certain spices and foods can bring us right back to our childhood, which can be incredibly powerful and comforting. For me, the "heart of a home" is definitely the kitchen and I grew up being blessed enough to be able to watch my mom and grandmothers baking up their favorites, which gave them so much joy as they served up each dish with love for those they cared about.
We are proud to bring you nonalcoholic options from female-founded Spiritless on page 36, as well as our very own Roswell winners of Summer Sippin' on page 68.
Check out how some of our local chefs prepare those delicious meals for us with their favorite knives on page 30 and some of the newest trends in kitchen designs on page 72.
Food brings us all together, and whether we are sharing a meal with friends and family or enjoying a night out on the town, the time spent while enjoying food is invaluable. As always, thanks for reading. We’ll see you around Roswell and please continue to support all of our wonderful local businesses!

Sunshine on a Ranney Day recently completed a dream bedroom and wheelchair accessible bathroom for Ellie in Warner Robins. When Ellie was born, the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and she lost oxygen to her brain. At age one, her family also learned she had a rare genetic disease. Ellie was nominated for a home makeover by Coy Bowles, guitarist in the Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band. Coy has been a longtime supporter of Sunshine on a Ranney Day. Ellie’s father Josh is a musician who had to give up his music career to help take care of Ellie. Coy attended the very special reveal of her new rooms and even pulled out his guitar to jam with Josh and celebrate this special day!
Where community building and civic engagement meet in Roswell, you’ll find Lyndsey Coates. Having lived in Roswell as a kid, she and her husband intentionally chose Roswell to raise their family more than a decade ago. They were drawn to the authentic charm of Roswell, the amount of locally owned businesses, the river, the parks, all seemed like a great setting for their family life
A couple years after moving to Roswell a school redistricting happened. Lyndsey got involved with Vickery Mill Elementary hoping to build the community in an inclusive and welcoming way. That was a gateway for involvement elsewhere in the city.
She found herself deep diving and helping other organizations like Roswell NEXT. This member-based, non-profit with a mission to encourage civic engagement and dialogue for Roswell-area residents, business owners and professionals.
Since moving back to Roswell, she’s found her passion in various volunteer involvement throughout the city. Lyndsey has been heavily involved with Roswell Soccer Club, Vickery Mill Elementary, and Mountain Park Elementary PTAs. She also served as President of Roswell NEXT.
Lyndsey has a lengthy work history in real estate and adjacent industries. She spent more than a decade working in corporate marketing for major brands in the home, mortgage and building products space. Following that, she was a mortgage lender for four years before transitioning into real estate. The last four years she has been a residential REALTOR®, successfully growing her business and participating in Atlanta REALTORS Association Emerging Leaders Program and Government Affairs committee.
Some of Lyndsey’s career accomplishments and accreditations include:
- Fulton County Schools Volunteer of the Year 2018
- Movement Mortgage $10,000 Grant Winner for Star House 2017
- Harry Norman Rookie of the Year 2019
- Co-Founder School Meal Program in 2020
- Atlanta REALTORS Association Top 5% Producer for Units 2021
- Atlanta REALTORS Association Top 10% Producer for Volume 2021
- Harry Norman Success Circle 2021-Current
- Atlanta REALTORS Association Emerging Leader Class of 2021
Lyndsey’s strong passion for Roswell, and the challenges the city faces, led to her decision to run for Roswell City Council. She is on the ballot for the municipal election this November, focusing on increased government transparency, creating a positive atmosphere for small businesses to thrive, and building and connecting the community with intention.
Lyndsey plans to leverage her experience and knowledge gained through her volunteering, as well as listening to constituents and business owners to help guide her.
As a psychologist, I have continually witnessed the food and mood correlation. Our mind and body reap the benefits of clean eating. There is a growing body of research that supports the saying that “we are what we eat” physically and psychologically. Proper nutrition along with selfcare and exercise is extremely important in order to live a healthy life, mentally and physically.
Our nutrition impacts our gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which is involved in the production of important neurochemicals that help us function. A large percentage of our neurochemicals are produced in our GI tract, including gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, acetylcholine, and melatonin. For the purposes of this article, we will focus on food as it relates to serotonin, dopamine, GABA, and acetylcholine. These neurochemicals regulate our mood, learning abilities, memory, and so much more. These important neurochemicals help us function physically, mentally, socially, and professionally.
Research has demonstrated that foods are natural sources of substances that may affect the nervous system (Briguglio, Dell’Osso, Panzica, Malgaroli, Banfi, Dina, Galentinoe, & Porta, 2018). Briguglio et al., (2018) searched literature related to the impact of food sources on neurochemicals. Their findings indicate that certain foods can impact the production of serotonin, dopamine, GABA, and acetylcholine. Corresponding research has shown that those who include a good number of fruits and vegetables in their diets show improvements in mood, memory, depression, and overall quality of life (Gehlich, Beller, Lange-Asschenfeldt, Köcher, Meinke, & Lademann, 2020). Examples of these foods are listed below, although there are many more.
• Foods that impact serotonin include: kiwi, strawberries, potatoes, paprika, plums, & pineapples.
• Foods that influence dopamine include: avocados, bananas, plantains, peas, apples, and oranges.
• Foods that affect GABA include: spinach, cruciferous vegetables, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, beans, and rice.
• Foods that impact acetylcholine include: peas, radishes, strawberries, squash, mung beans, and spinach.
It is important to evaluate the correlation between your foods and your moods. When your nutritional intake is optimal, you may notice an increase in positive moods. On the contrary, when your nutritional needs are compromised, you may notice more negative moods. A variety of theories exist regarding how food affects mood. These theories include the role of micronutrients, microorganisms in the gut, and changes in behavior when consuming a healthy diet (Eaton, Firth, & Sarris, 2020). Lachance & Ramsey (2015) emphasize the link between diet and mental health as it relates to the microbiome in our GI tract. Our mood may also be impacted by self-care and additional nutritional factors such as caloric intake, protein intake, inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, omegas, food sensitivities, and food allergies. It is important to discuss these factors with your doctor. Overall, it is vital to prioritize your self-care and unique nutritional needs in order to feel happier and healthier.

The founder/CEO (Chief Eating Officer) of Global Hearth, a multi-faceted business that breaks down cultural barriers through food, has launched her first cookbook. Natalie Keng’s Egg Rolls & Sweet Tea is a cookbook full of tasty Asian American and Southern fusion dishes, sauces, and drinks that home cooks will enjoy preparing and sharing. More than just recipes, it is also chock-full of entertaining tales of Natalie's childhood in the deep South and her food journey to becoming "The Sauce Maven," which makes it a wonderful gift or coffee table conversation piece.
The best authentic stir-fry sauce requires a slew of fresh aromatics, but home cooks don’t always have all the ingredients, or time to make sauce from scratch. Natalie scoured grocery store aisles and tested dozens of sauces and dressings, but nothing satisfied her taste
buds. So she created her own award-winning, premium line of Asian-inspired sauces, earning her the nickname, "The Sauce Maven."
A native Atlantan, Natalie holds a Master of Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School. She is a pioneer in the area of innovative leadership development. Her Cooking Up a Better World™ platform is a unique diversity and inclusion program that promotes team building and engagement through inspiring, interactive, and impactful presentations, tours, and events. Natalie has been a sponsor/artisan participant with her Georgia-grown sauces at Alive in Roswell in years past.
“Whether teaching hands-on dumpling classes, leading international supermarket shopping tours, or navigating the restaurant jewels of Buford Highway, I am mindful that my role is to help break
down barriers and dispel negative stereotypes through positive experiences,” says Keng. “As a leadership development diversity presenter, my goal is to leverage the power of food and culture by 'opening minds, one mouth at a time.'™ ”
Before starting her own business, Natalie was a strategic marketing executive at a Fortune 100 corporation and led leadership development and diversity teams for national nonprofit organizations. She was a recipient of the Greater Women’s Business Council Trailblazer Award and was appointed to serve on the Governor's Health Task Force.
Egg Rolls & Sweet Tea is available from Global Hearth, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target and through independent booksellers. Purchases through GlobalHearth.com will support local food and health initiatives and women authors and entrepreneurs.

Chef Nate keeps a Miyabi Kaizen II 8” chef knife close at hand. He ordered it five years ago and uses it daily. Its revolutionary FC61 steel core features fine carbide distribution that creates a razor-sharp and durable blade. “It’s the most reliable and consistent chef knife I have owned so far,” says Nate. The dramatic 48-layer flower Damascus pattern adds durability and is darkened through acid dipping, adding personality and performance.
Mark uses a Nakiri Japanese knife. The history of the Nakiri is fascinating. Many blade styles associated with feudal Japan came into use after Western contact was established. The Nakiri was one such product and it came at a time of significant modernization in the country.
Traditional feudal culture in Japan would come to an end over the course of the 1800s, culminating in a tremendous shift from a medieval society to a completely industrialized nation. These culinary tools became a feature of Japanese blade makers, and eventually, they arrived at a point of heavy specialization.
"I love this knife for many reasons. The most important reason is because I am left-handed and most chef knives are made for right-handed people. The Nakiri is designed in a way that fits both right and left-handed people," says Mark. "It’s a great knife for just about any kind of preparation. It’s very precise and comfortable. One feature that sets it apart from other knives is its round, tipless shape." The Nakiri allows you to obtain a cosmetic presentation of food, such as spiral peeling, and ornamental julienned strips.
“It’s a great knife for just about any kind of preparation. “
Chef Olivia Hurst, a recent winner on Food Network’s Chopped , is a self-taught modern Southern chef with a worldly view. This is her Miyabi Birchwood Nakiri Knife, 6 1/2”. It takes more than 100 steps and 42 days to make one knife worthy of the Miyabi brand. Each authentic knife is crafted true to Japanese tradition by skilled artisans and forged from premium steel. "I like this knife because the thin, light handle makes it easy to hold and maneuver when doing detailed knife cuts like julienned vegetables. The balanced weight of the blade makes this knife perfect for chopping onions," says Chef Liv.
Bask
SteakhouseThis custom-made cleaver was gifted to Chef Chris by a long-time friend and chef. “He had it made by a craftsman in North Carolina and it continues to be my go-to for BBQ and butchering larger bone-in cuts.” The large, square blade of this traditional cleaver is designed to be thicker and heavier than most other knives. The large, flat blade of a cleaver is also perfect for pounding or crushing things like herbs. The flat, broad cutting edge makes scraping diced herbs or the contents of a cutting board straight into a bowl incredibly simple.
Chef Benjamin’s pride and joy is his Shun Edo BB1502 chef’s knife. He says, “This knife is special because it was handed down to me from Joey Stallings, the previous chef here at From the Earth. A month after he left I became chef here. The timing of it all was cool to me because I never imagined myself being a chef, but when Joey gave me that knife, I started learning more about knives and it motivated me to take my career as a chef more seriously.”
The Henckels Classic 8" chef's knife is Chef Sam's favorite blade. It boasts a precision, fine-edge blade that is honed for long-lasting sharpness. Henckels has been crafting knives since 1895 and this Spanish-made kitchen workhorse is up for almost any task, strengthened by high-quality German stainless steel. Chef Sam had this go-to knife lifted from his knife kit, but found he could make magic with almost any blade within reach. Here, he holds a favorite knife by Forschner. The commercial quality knives are made in Switzerland by Victorinox.
For many reasons, partiers are turning to non-alcoholic cocktails. Gone are the days of a bartender just mixing up a Shirley Temple in a rocks glass when an intrepid drinker requests a no-proof beverage.
Now, bartenders are stocking their top shelves and well with a gorgeous variety of alcohol-free bottles and keeping cans of spirit-free, ready-mixed cocktails in the cooler.
For whatever reason (and it’s nobody’s business), more people are giving up booze. And face it, life feels better and heads remain clearer without it.
Without booze, you can get more done and treat your body like a temple, not a basement.
Spiritless was founded by three women juggling the long hours of entrepreneurism, the skepticism of a male-dominated industry, the expectations of motherhood, the fulfillment of mentoring, the intimacy of partnership and the desire to carve out just five minutes of Zen.
The team brings experience working with some of the largest spirits conglomerates in the world. As busy, career-oriented parents, they were also feeling the strain of weekday drinks at work dinners, added calories, and sluggish mornings after a few glasses. Together, Lauren Chitwood, Abbey Ferguson, and Lexie Lancaster Larsen created Spiritless, now with Kentucky 72, Jalisco 55 and
two pour over canned cocktails: a whiskey sour and old-fashioned.
"We love and respect the strong women we've met in this industry -- from bottle shop owners to mixologists and retail buyers -- just as much as we enjoy being female founders,” says Abbey.
"When you're a working mom, prioritizing family is paramount, even on a day devoted to you. Between the three of us, we have 12 kids under 12, so you'll likely find us chasing a few moments of Zen in between breakfast in bed and opening macaroni artwork presents,” says Lauren.
How does the magic happen?
A variety of hand-selected American oak is combined with a high-proof neutral grain spirit. By modulating the heat and pressure in the still, they
imitate the barrel aging process seen in traditional spirits, over multiple years, in a matter of hours. The intensely flavored high-proof oak-infused spirit cools in preparation for the next phase. The reverse distillation process separates ethanol from the Kentucky 74 distillate. “The ethanol is then removed and repurposed for the next batch. We call this our 'regenerative ingredient,'” Lexi explains. The distillate that remains in the still is non-alcoholic. This is where Kentucky 74 is born. Just like a fine craft Bourbon, Kentucky 74 is blended by selecting specific totes from various distillations, each with a unique character. The distiller selects the perfect combination of totes to create Kentucky 74, a smooth, balanced spirit with hints of caramel, vanilla, and oak.
“Yes, you’ll miss a little bit of the burn, because frankly, that's what alcohol does. But as passionate drinkers ourselves, we knew a little bit of heat was necessary, so you'll find that in Kentucky 74 and Jalisco 55," says Lauren.
But wait, there’s more good to the brand! Through 2% for the Girls, they will donate up to 2% of Spiritless sales to nonprofits, programs and partnerships that foster entrepreneurialism, mentoring and leadership development among young women. We love that.
Spiritless can be found at 20+ independent locations in Atlanta including Total Wine and both Amazon and Spiritless.com ship to all 50 U.S. states.
to our charities this year! I am so grateful to our volunteers and the donors for making this event successful,” says Joyce.
The Country Club of Roswell (CCR) completed its 45th Annual Charity Tennis Pro-Am Invitational this year. The event has grown to one of the largest (112 players) and best (2017 Georgia Professional Tennis Association voted “Event of the Year”) tennis Pro-Am events in Georgia.
Many people think of this as a "tennis event," but it is so much more. "While the Pro-Am tennis tournament is for tennis players, all of our fundraisers during the year are open to all CCR members and nonmembers. Each year, I love seeing all of our members join together with the common goal of raising money for our charities," says Joyce R. Clark, CCR Pro-Am Chairperson.
The tournament takes place each year during the first weekend of August. This year's event weekend kicked off with a gala at CCR with silent and live auction items, DJ, and delicious food stations. Auction items were donated by local businesses and members. The auction alone raised over $45,000 for chosen charities, which was a new record. “We have reached a new record and will be distributing close to $80,000.
CCR Director of Racket Sports Marcus Rutsche organized the two-day tennis event, which hosted 56 tennis professionals from throughout the Southeast. CCR members were paired with a pro for the weekend to provide some thrilling and impressive tennis competition. The match play was on Saturday with the semifinals and finals played on Sunday. Marcus, his CCR team of tennis professionals (Haris Poric, Mimi Allan and Jordan Zenaty), and tennis shop manager Susan Wofford worked diligently throughout the weekend to keep the players moving through the round-robin, to tally the scores, and to ensure the players stayed hydrated.
CCR Pro-Am has a mission: through a tennis tournament and its related activities, including a gala supported by members, local business sponsors and other patrons, they annually raise funds to provide grants to eligible, local, non-profit organizations that empower, enrich and improve the lives of the people within our community.
“I like making friends, playing tennis, and going to tournaments. I appreciate organizations like Country Club of Roswell who have donated to Special Pops Tennis, because it helps athletes like me go to tournaments to play tennis and have fun," says Allison Ferrer, Special Pops tennis athlete.
CCR has a long history of giving back to the community. They are supporting four local charities this year. "Our primary charities are Special Populations Tennis Inc. (Special Pops) and Stand Up for Kids (SUFK). In addition, we are supporting For the Love of Ryan and Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (GADRC)," says Joyce.
“Mentors, leaders, and advocators elevated my experience in the StandUp for Kids program. Working one-on-one with a mentor established a productive system of goals and accountability. I trust their wisdom. I trust their direction, and I trust that they will always advocate not just for me, but for any homeless teenager,” says Kimberly, who is benefiting from the program.
The Pro-Am committee began meeting in January. This volunteer committee, consisting of 20 CCR members, worked together as a team to reach a common goal of raising money for their charities. The team spent untold hours to make all of the events successful.
"I am proud of this group of volunteers who donated so much of their time and energy! Notable volunteers this year include Fran Conlan, Russ Prindle, Tonya Holody and, of course, our tournament director Marcus Rutsche," notes Joyce.
CCR general manager Bob Foster was fully supportive of all the Pro-Am events and fundraising for the CCR charities of choice. Clubhouse manager Leah Cunningham and communications director Cassidy Ferreri worked tirelessly with their staff to ensure everything ran smoothly.

We are what we eat. And for bodies in fightor-flight mode, the fuel matters even more. We asked the professionals at City of Hope Atlanta for some advice on healthy eating. The City of Hope Georgia cancer care team is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, to listen, answer patients' questions, and help them decide on a treatment plan that's right and how to navigate diet and lifestyle.
When it comes to diet before, during and after treatment, it is important to include five servings of fruit and veggies every day. “A diet rich in fruit and vegetables is important for everyone, especially cancer patients," says Jayla Thurman, RDN, LD, Clinical Oncology Dietician at City of Hope Atlanta. "Fruits and vegetables provide many nutrients—such as fiber, antioxidants and phytochemicals—that help fight off radical cells that can cause cancer formation. "Meal planning can be helpful in thoughtfully making diet and lifestyle changes. Our lives are busy and sometimes we don’t have the time to think about what we should be eating, but meal planning can set us up for a better chance of making habits improve. "For cancer patients, this can be particularly helpful as travel, appointments, medications and overall stress is usually a larger part of day-to-day life," says Nathan Schober, MS, RD, CNSC, CET, manager of clinical nutrition at City of Hope Atlanta. "Having a plan can make them more likely to succeed.”
Enjoy this delicious cancer-fighting recipe for fall, recommended by the nutrition pros at City of Hope Atlanta.

ARTICLE BY ROSWELL CITY LIFESTYLE STAFFWhile beauty pageants are often known for the glitz and gowns, Miss Earth USA is distinguished by its commitment to environmental awareness and social responsibility.
This year the regional division, which includes Georgia, Florida, Tennessee and Alabama, chose to have its Junior, Miss and Teen crowning event in Roswell at the Doubletree by Hilton.
“Since 2001, the Miss Earth USA organization has created a platform for young girls and women across the country to experience the beauty pageant industry, while making an impact on our community and the environment,” says Nic Blaize, regional executive director. “Roswell has hosted our state competition for several years. We picked this beautiful city for its historic landscape, community support and convenient location.”
Roswell High School student and Little Helpers co-founder Ava Huyen Smith ended her reign as Teen Miss Georgia Earth 2022 and crowned her successor.
“Miss Earth stands apart from traditional beauty pageants because it shows that beauty is more than just how you look or what you wear. It’s also about purpose, awareness and kindness,” Ava says. “I was only 14 years old when I received this honor. The Miss Earth family immediately embraced me and my community, which includes Roswell City Lifestyle magazine. I am truly grateful.”
The event included a charity gala, The Canary Ball, hosted by the nonprofit Dorothy’s House and sponsored by Inspire Gravity Consulting and Beauty Queens Galore.
“I started Dorothy’s House when I was 15 years old as a way to support a friend and continue the legacy of my great grandmother,” added founder Ariana Blaize, Miss Georgia North USA. “The community answered the call and today we’ve touched many lives globally. Haiti continues to be rocked with violence, so that’s why I chose to donate a portion of the proceeds to the Haiti Teen Challenge. No child should be denied access to education and resources even when their country is in turmoil.” Also in attendance were Miss Earth USA Danielle Mullins, Mrs. USA Earth Fire Lindsay Shockey, Miss Earth USA Eco Gracie Pfaff, Miss Earth Georgia 2022 Tram Mai, Miss Grand Georgia 2023 Kennedy Thomas, Teen Miss Louisiana Earth 2022 Taty Lopez and Mr. United Prentice Ahmad. Regional titleholders were crowned, including Little Miss Georgia Earth Vitalia Collins, Little Miss Florida Earth Cora Williams, Junior Miss Florida Earth Camille Buss, Teen Miss Georgia Earth Courtney Smith, Teen Miss Alabama Earth Juliana Golden, Teen Miss Tennessee Earth Clover Pfaff, Miss Florida Earth Valentina Delgado and Miss Alabama Earth Samantha Chaplin.
Founded in 2001, Miss Earth is the second-largest international pageant with multiple age divisions for women and girls. It also formed a nonprofit organization called Beauties for a Cause.
A reminder that beauty transcends aesthetics.

It's dinner party night with your favorite gal pals. Along with setting the table, picking the music, arranging flowers, and planning the menu… consider what wine you will serve for your special sista soirée.
Folks mostly fall into three wine choices: red, white, and rosé. You can offer all three on your beverage bar and with dinner if you match the menu choices to the three wine offerings. The trick is to match the wine's heaviness to the meal's heaviness.
Two hearty fall meal choices you can prepare are baked chicken breasts with a lemon butter sauce or pasta with bolognese sauce. Marcella Hazan’s classic recipe is my favorite and a crowd-pleaser for the latter! Make it a day ahead of time for an incredible taste.
For an even easier time as a hostess, enlist your husband, partner, or a good friend to manage the grill as you entertain your BFFs. A bonus for all is if the grill sergeant is single and ready to mingle with any of your cute single friends. Grilled salmon is an excellent choice for a medium-bodied wine selection.
Medium-bodied wines go best with fall fare. The crisp summer whites are too light for cool autumn nights. The heavy cabernets can wait for heavier winter meals to come. Rosé that is too sweet will not go with a fall meal. Next, look at some good fall wine choices.
Medium-bodied wine choices: most cost between $18$25. Chosen with help from the folks at Deep Roots Wine Market. Most of these choices can be found at Deep Roots. You can even try some of them out with a serve-and-sip card.

This year’s winner in the alcoholic beverage category is Madrid Spanish Taverna with their drink, Flor De España. The winner in the non-alcoholic drink category is Pop’s Coffee Company with their Orange Creamcycle Latte.
This year, the event ran from June 13 – August 15 with 61 participating locations, so the competition was steep. Restaurants, coffee shops, breweries and tasting rooms all created a new specialty drink for Summer Sippin’. After the start of the competition, participating locations promoted their Summer Sippin’ drink to customers and encouraged voting.
Abe Ruiz, co-owner of Madrid Spanish Taverna, commented, “Flor De España was born out of the spirit of Spain...spicy, red, flowery, and outright delicious. We knew immediately when our staff tasted it, that it was a WINNER! Swani Gonzales, co-owner of Madrid Spanish Taverna, added, “Once again being part of the Summer Sippin’ event was great! You have the Roswell restaurants coming together for something fun and giving the community an opportunity to engage with each restaurant and share memories. It really is wonderful to see that unity. It's Roswell!”
Donna McDonald, kitchen manager and event coordinator with Pop’s Coffee Company says, “Thank you Roswell Inc. for bringing the local restaurant entrepreneurs together to show off their creative drink specialties. We are honored to be the 2023 1st place winner! Our drink, the Orange Creamcycle Latte, was created by Aaron McDonald. It was meant to remind us of our childhood and a favorite summer treat. Special thanks to the Pop’s team for promoting our drink and wheeling it in first across the finish line!”
Patrons rated each sip they tried on SummerSippin. com or on the Summer Sippin’ app. The ratings have been tallied and the winners in each category have been chosen.

Kitchens are no longer just spaces for cooking. They are for family gatherings and happy hours, offices, homework nooks and storage spaces. The modern kitchen is working overtime.
“Aesthetic functionality is a major trend for 2023-24 kitchens. Whether constructing a brand-new kitchen with tailored storage spaces or redefining an existing space to maximize workflow, homeowners are seeking custom craftsmanship and personalization,” says Jerry Marshall, owner of Atlanta Cabinet & Coatings LLC. “Customized efficiencies such as pull-out trays and organizers, hidden storage for kitchen appliances and garbage cans, space-saving counter-depth appliances, large work surfaces like single-level islands, and dedicated nooks for morning coffee or happy hour, make the kitchen ‘work' for the homeowner.”
When choosing and designing your new kitchen or bathroom, there are a lot of decisions to make. There are kitchen and bathroom cabinets for every price point, some more customized than others. There are materials,

textures, color and general feel of the room to consider. Jerry and his team assist you in creating a design that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, while staying within the given space and your budget. “We will take into account your family size, lifestyle, entertaining style, cooking style, and other needs so that you have a unique, efficient, and beautiful design,” promised Jerry, a U.S. veteran. The family-owned business is intent on delivering quality results that will last. Collectively, they offer over 40 years of experience in the construction and renovation industry and use their experience to better the renovation and revitalization process for your kitchen cabinetry.
Moving into 2024, trends are about inviting colors and designs and helpful technology. Warm neutrals, wood tones, and mixed metals create an ambiance of elevated comfort. Rich browns, cozy creams, and neutral greiges are the background for highlights of muted greens, soft blues, and earthy oranges. While the white kitchen is still a timeless classic, the sterile feel of cool grey undertones and monotonous patterns, have been replaced with a more welcoming atmosphere of organic elements and layers of texture. Cheers to that, we say!
As demand increases for functionality and convenience, more homeowners are integrating smart features into their design, such as tech-enabled lighting and appliances with smart-device or voice controls. “Health-conscious and eco-friendly
materials have also taken a front seat in post-pandemic construction,” says Jerry, whose business is based in Cumming. “Low VOC paint, tenting/ ventilation, and spraying doors off-site are all part of our process so that your remodeling experience is as satisfying as the final product.”
WE ASKED JERRY ABOUT WHAT WE CAN EXPECT TO BUDGET FOR DIFFERENT-SIZED PROJECTS.
