Your Style, Your Story

When we talk about style, we’re talking about more than what’s hanging in our closets. Style is personal. It’s the playlists we keep on repeat, the hobbies we make time for, and the way we gather around a table. It’s how we show up in the world, and how we tell our stories without saying a word.

In this issue, we dive into what style means here in Rogers. You’ll find tips from local photographers on how to take the stress out of family photo day—because the best portraits happen when you feel most like yourself. We also spotlight a few local boutiques that are helping shape Northwest Arkansas’ fashion scene, one thoughtfully chosen piece at a time.

This issue shines a light on two locally owned businesses that bring style and function into the spaces we live in every day. Morgan Millworks creates custom cabinetry that elevates everything from kitchens to offices, blending craftsmanship with practical design. And for those looking to make the most of every inch, Closets by Design offers personalized solutions that transform closet space into organized, stylish storage—proving that thoughtful design doesn’t just look good, it works hard too.

From the clothes we wear to the spaces we live in and the creative lives we lead, this edition is a reflection of the many ways we express who we are.

Three locally owned boutiques in Rogers are blending fashion, community, and confidence

For women looking to refresh their wardrobe, three locally owned boutiques in Rogers offer a stylish and welcoming shopping experience. With carefully curated selections and a strong sense of community, these shops make it easy to find pieces you’ll love—all while supporting local.

OLIVIA FRANK & CO.

212 S. 1st Street

The mother-daughter team of Julie and Olivia Woods opened the downtown boutique Olivia Frank & Co. in April 2024. The pair said they were often frustrated while shopping that they couldn't find cute styles in sizes bigger than a large, so they decided to open their own shop of carefully curated clothing, accessories, and gifts.

Their boutique aims to blend feminine charm with everyday wearability. The store carries a variety of styles in women's clothing ranging from size small to 3XL, including styles for athleisure wear, corporate work wear, family photo dresses, and everything in between.

The boutique also offers jewelry and accessories, including a popular jewelry that is waterproof and tarnish free, as well as unique gifts ranging from humorous tea towels and candles to dainty little treasures.

Olivia says what makes the boutique so special is the atmosphere.

“From experience, we know that clothes shopping can sometimes feel frustrating and disappointing," she says. "So we wanted to change that at Olivia Frank & Co. We made our store warm and welcoming to make shopping more of an experience— not a chore.”

She added that women of all sizes—from small to 3X—can find their favorite styles throughout the store, making it easy for every customer to discover cute fashion that fits.

“We are more than just a store, we’re passionate about building a community of women who feel confident, beautiful, and inspired each time they visit us,” Olivia says.

THREADS 479

216 S. 1st Street

Threads 479 is a women’s boutique store in downtown Rogers with a heart for the hungry. All profits from the store support the mission of Feed 479, a local food pantry. Customers of Threads 479 help join in the fight against food insecurity by helping put food on the tables of local families in need.

Once known as Threads 314, the boutique rebranded to Threads 479 in March of 2024.

The store offers a range of options for women in sizes XS To XL, including tops, bottoms, dresses, and formal attire, along with gifts, accessories, bags, jewelry, and

shoes. The store is also supported by its online shop.

Charity Holman, director of operations for Threads 479, says the store features both new and high-quality pre-loved items, offering a wide array of styles and options to customers, both casual and formal.

“We really buy for a wide demographic. Our main customer is anywhere from ages 25 to 65,” Charity says. “We buy what we like and what we would feel comfortable in.”

She says that prices remain affordable without compromising on quality, and any items the boutique can't use—including children's clothing—are donated to Compassion 479, a thrift store in Springdale.

THE HALEY BOUTIQUE

2011 S. Promenade Boulevard

The Haley Boutique in the Pinnacle Promenade area has been providing a unique shopping experience for women in Northwest Arkansas since 2012.

Co-owner Linda Myrvik said she and fellow co-owners Cassie Haley and Jennifer Luebbe started the store because they all love shopping and, at the time, saw a lack of fashionable boutique options in the area.

While the store offers a variety of looks, including classic pieces, Linda says the boutique is overall focused on trendy clothing, with the owners actively staying up on changing fashions and styles.

“We sell to all ages, but we have had many women comment that their daughters especially love the store,” she says.

Linda says the employees are all trained on how to give special attention to each customer and help them find their individual look and style, helping women find the right pieces for a night on the town or a special occasion.

Being near the mall, the store gets many out-of-town visitors going out to enjoy the city’s restaurants or a night at the Walmart AMP.

“We are the store you come to when you are looking for something fun, something special,” she says.

And Linda says they strive to keep all their clothes affordable.

Along with carrying tops, bottoms, dresses, and other pieces in sizes small thru large, the store also offers accessories to finish off the look.

PICTURE PERFECT

Photo by Amber Hall, a family photographer in Northwest Arkansas.

As the weather cools and the trees begin to turn colors, many people decide that fall is the perfect time to take outdoor family photos.

But for some people, the idea of coordinating family photos can be intimidating, and a little overwhelming.

Whether you are planning to hire a photographer or hoping to set up the perfect shot yourself, local photographers Meredith Mashburn and Isabella Raquel have some advice on how to make the most out of your photo session.

TIMING AND LIGHTING

Professional photography sessions tend to be between 30 minutes and one hour long. For families with younger kids, Isabella says shorter is better. Professional photographers will generally have a set up or props ready to go, but families shooting a session themselves will need to account for that time in their planning.

As for the best time of day to shoot a fall family photo, both Meredith and Isabella agree that time is the hour before sunset, also known as the golden hour.

“That golden hour light gives everything a warm, soft glow that's perfect for capturing those cozy autumn vibes,” Isabella says.

BEST FALL LOCATIONS

There is no shortage of beautiful places in Northwest Arkansas where dynamic family photos can be taken. Here are just a few of the most popular free locations that can provide the background for your next family photo.

Tanyard Creek, Bella Vista

This 1.9-mile loop trail is easy enough for kids to traverse and provides plenty of backgrounds for fall photos, including a waterfall.

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art Outdoor Trails, Bentonville

Though these trails can get rather busy in the fall, they provide a variety of spaces and looks for photos, and, of course, outdoor art.

Bogle Park, Bentonville

This privately-owned park is open to the public. It’s small with well-manicured flowers and trees and a gazebo.

Village on the Creeks, Rogers

The open area behind the shops offer some great water and tree combinations for photos.

Lake Atalanta, Rogers

The reflection on the lake, wide open grassy spaces, and abundance of foliage makes this park a good one for family photos.

Hobbs State Park, Rogers

This 12,054-acre park spans the southern shore of Beaver Lake and offers many trails and vistas with plenty of fall foliage to use as backdrops for photos.

War Eagle Mill, Rogers

This iconic landmark is nestled along War Eagle Creek and offers a dynamic background for fall photos.

University of Arkansas Campus

There are many places on campus where photos can be taken with beautiful fall trees in the background.

Arkansas Razorback Greenway

There are many locations along the greenway, which spans from Bella Vista to Fayetteville, where families can take some vibrant photos.

CLOSETS

BY DESIGN HELPS NORTHWEST ARKANSAS HOMEOWNERS GET ORGANIZED

Transforming Spaces

ARTICLE BY HEATHER JARVIS | PHOTOGRAPHY BY MEREDITH MASHBURN PHOTOGRAPHY

For longtime Northwest Arkansas resident Case Maner, one of the most rewarding parts of running his business is seeing the impact it has on people’s daily lives. Together with his wife, Melissa, the couple owns Closets by Design in Springdale—where they specialize in custom storage systems that transform not just homes, but how their clients live in them.

“The reason I love doing closets so much is because it can be a game changer for clients when they have a storage system built into their home that's specifically tailored and created for their unique space,” Case says. “It allows them to store so many more things in their closet than they normally would be able to do.”

The Closets by Design corporation has been a national leader in custom storage solutions since 1982, now with 66 locations across the U.S. Recognizing a need for this type of business in the area, Case and Melissa opened the doors to the first and only Closets by Design in Arkansas in April 2024. The company specializes in designing, manufacturing, and installing custom storage systems for closets, garages, pantries, home offices, laundry rooms, and hobby spaces.

Unlike many competitors, the Springdale-based Closets by Design has its own factory onsite, where all materials are cut, drilled, and prepared for installation. This allows local control over quality along with a

shorter timeline—most projects are completed within three to six weeks.

At Closets by Design, all team members are locally based, expertly trained, and held to high standards—no subcontractors involved.

“It allows us to provide the kind of service and whiteglove treatment that we want to give to our clients,” Case says.

Each free consultation takes place in the home and is led by a professional designer. During the visit, the designer listens carefully to the client’s needs, evaluates the space, and presents a variety of catalogs and samples to showcase available accessories, colors, and design options.

The designer will then develop a personalized plan—complete with accessories, finishes, and various pricing options.

What sets the Closets by Design team apart is their designers’ expert training in maximizing organization, even in the most limited or unique spaces.

“We all have different homes that may have unusual walls or ceilings or spaces, and one thing we excel at is our ability to come up with creative, unique, and helpful designs that will allow the customer to really maximize the amount of storage and organization for the different areas in their home,” Case says.
