Wine with Kelley
Kelley McGuire is the quintessential wine concierge,
ARTICLE BY MELISSA MULLEN
1. WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOUR LOVE FOR WINE?
My passion for wine sparked around 2010 through a wine club in Oklahoma City, founded by a friend who now owns a winery in New York. The club was created to connect smart, dynamic women, and it’s still thriving today despite many of us moving away. At our gatherings, I found myself diving deep into the wines— researching grape varieties, regions, and winemaking processes for my hosting sessions, complete with handouts and maps.
2. HOW DO YOU FIND AND LEARN ABOUT LESSER-KNOWN WINEMAKERS?
I discover small, artisanal producers by spending time in regions like California, where I meet winemakers crafting limited-production wines, often not distributed beyond their region. I also attend trade tastings focused on specific countries or regions, connecting with global winemakers.
3. WHAT CAN PEOPLE EXPECT FROM YOUR WINE TASTINGS?
Expect a fun, educational experience where you’ll discover your palate and learn to evaluate wines, even those you don’t love. My goal is to empower attendees to become their own sommeliers. You’ll explore new wines, gain confidence in expressing preferences, and enjoy the process without feeling pressured to like “approved” wines.

JUSTIN TAYLOR EVENTS
Meet Justin Lopez, Founder and Creative Director
ARTICLE BY BRET MCKINNEY
While others were focused on sports stats and school tests, I was flipping through event design books at Borders and dreaming about tablescapes and lighting layouts. I was especially inspired by the work of Preston Bailey, whose transformational event designs showed me just how magical this world could be.
“My passion for events began long before I ever planned one. As a kid, I was drawn to beauty, creativity, and big moments that brought people together.”
Add to that a few unforgettable parties at the stunning homes of friends whose families had a flair for entertaining, and I was hooked—obsessed with the magic, detail, and creativity of unforgettable experiences.
I grew up in a small, lively home with two brothers in a family where sports reigned supreme. But while my siblings chased home runs, I was donning a mascot suit, performing in musicals, and embracing the artistic path. I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum—fun-loving, creative, and someone who truly believes life is better when you’re laughing.
My work ethic was shaped early on. I got my first job the minute I was allowed—washing dishes at The Purple Cow in Dallas. From there, I climbed every rung of the restaurant ladder: dishwasher, soda jerk, host, server. As my career progressed, I took on more strategic
and creative roles, including serving as Catering Sales Director for both ClubCorp and Live Nation, where I planned high-impact events for corporate clients, weddings, and large-scale productions. Along the way, I learned the ins and outs of hospitality—timing, presentation, grace under pressure—and those lessons are now at the core of how I approach every event.
At Justin Taylor Events, I specialize in producing oneof-a-kind experiences that reflect each client’s unique story. I love working with people who want to push boundaries, explore bold design ideas, and turn their weddings and events into unforgettable moments. Whether it’s a whimsical wedding or a high-concept celebration, I thrive on bringing big ideas to life—with creativity, heart, and a lot of laughter along the way. Whether you’re looking to upgrade your lunch routine, enjoy comforting flavors and bold textures, or impress guests with a no-fuss meal, these easy-to-make sandwiches strike the perfect balance between simple and sensational.

• 2 tbsp butter (for toasting)
INSTRUCTIONS
• 2 ½ tbsp mayonnaise
• 1 tbsp horseradish sauce
• 1 tsp Dijon mustard
• Arugula
• Cherry tomato
• Caramelized onions
Toast the bread. Butter one side of each slice and toast in a skillet until golden. Heat roast beef briefly in a pan. To make the spread, mix mayo, horseradish sauce, and Dijon. Spread on the toasted bread. Layer roast beef, cheese, and broil briefly to melt. Add arugula, tomato, and caramelized onions if using. Top with the second slice of bread.

INSTRUCTIONS
• A handful of fresh arugula
• 3–4 cherry tomatoes (halved)
• 1 tbsp garlic aioli
• 1 brioche bun (toasted)
Lightly butter the inside of the bun and toast in a skillet or oven until golden brown. Spread a layer of garlic aioli on the bottom bun. Add the sliced grilled chicken breast. Place the pepper jack cheese over the hot chicken to slightly melt it. Layer on the crispy bacon slices. Add halved cherry tomatoes and a small handful of arugula. Spread the jam on the top bun. Enjoy!

• Fresh arugula
• ¼ cup caramelized onions
• 1 pear, thinly sliced
• Honey, to taste
