"Never send little boys to bed...they wake older."

– Peter Pan

Welcome to our annual Kids + Pets Issue!

You recognize the guy on the cover... Coach D, now living his childhood dream. Why did we choose him as our August standout? Because he’s proof that the child within us never truly fades. When we nurture that inner spark, there’s no dream too big to chase- even the ones we first imagined as kids.

As a mom of three boys, my hope is simple: that they grow up knowing they can do anything. With hard work, grit, resilience, and passion, anything is possible. I want to empower them to bloom boldly. You’ll occasionally spot the boys sprinkled throughout these pages (even doing some reporting for PVCL), because I believe in cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit early. Ambition doesn’t wait for adulthood.

As we head into back-to-school season, I’ve been thinking about lessons that unfold outside the classroom. Of course, I love our schools and adore our teachers, but I also believe in the power of exposure. Real-world experiences. Big dreams. Bold confidence. That’s why this issue includes a spotlight on Randi Mahomes... yes, the mama behind the MVP. Maybe not a hometown boy, but Patrick Mahomes is a household idol among kids everywhere. Randi opened up to us about raising elite athletes, navigating single motherhood, and launching her new endeavor: Sports Parent Academy, a platform designed to help parents support their young athletes with purpose and perspective.

And if your child is more about music? We’ve got that too- shining on stage the way a QB would on the field. We spotlight an outlet encouraging kids to step out of their comfort zone and into their creative rhythm- a place that fosters confidence, courage, and self-expression.

You’ll also meet my friend Katie Wilson, the powerhouse behind Old Town's cherished children’s boutique, The Garage. She’s celebrating 25 years of fashion, fun, and timeless style for little ones. (IYKYK)

Of course, we couldn’t call this our Kids + Pets Issue without a four-legged shoutout. In our City Scene, you’ll find an ode to D-backs playing with puppies, plus other pet-loving moments woven throughout. I grew up with a Lassie dog named Cupid... I learned to walk by holding her tail. Pet babies are real, and so are their memories. I hold my own four-legged angels close to my heart.

Here’s to letting our inner child lead the way.

THE COOLEST COACH THAT HAPPENED TO COLLEGE FOOTBALL

OUR CHAT WITH KENNY DILLINGHAM, ASU HEAD COACH & HOMETOWN HERO

For our Kids Issue, we’re spotlighting a local kid who grew up to live the dream… coaching college kids in his favorite sport, for the team he grew up cheering for.

Coach Kenny Dillingham isn’t just the youngest Power Five head coach in the nation... he’s a hometown guy who married his high school sweetheart and now leads the program he grew up tailgating for.

ARTICLE BY NADINE BUBECK PHOTOGRAPHY BY JAMES PATRICK PHOTOGRAPHY

In this special sit-down, Coach Kenny talks about his rapid rise, real-deal coaching style, and love for family.

YOU’RE IN YOUR EARLY 30S AND CRUSHING IT. HOW DOES IT MAKE YOU FEEL?

“I started coaching at 17, so I’ve always been the youngest in the room. I don’t measure it by age; I measure it by experience.”

WHAT DID YOU DREAM OF AS A KID?

“I wanted to play, but I wasn’t that athletic. People would always tell me, ‘You’re

going to coach.’ I was like, ‘I’m 12… I still like to play!’ But honestly, I always had that coaching mindset. People around me kind of spoke it into existence. I used to sit and watch football on TV and just feel it... I knew I wanted to be in the game somehow. There was never a plan B.”

YOU’RE A CHAP GRAD AND ASU ALUM. WHAT WAS HIGH SCHOOL KENNY LIKE?

“The same as I am now... competitive. I loved sports and always wanted to win. I’ve been a fan of every Arizona team from day one. This is home.”

DESCRIBE YOUR ASU COLLEGE EXPERIENCE.

“I’d go to class, work, then go coach high school football, so I didn’t have that typical college experience. I was doing film breakdowns, driving across town for high school games, learning everything I could. However, my wife and I both went to ASU- she danced there- and we stayed together through it all. Definitely the most memorable part.”

YOU TWO GO WAY BACK.

“We were high school sweethearts. We were neighbors. We went to prom together.”

WHAT’S IT BEEN LIKE GOING FROM COACHING AT CHAP TO LEADING ASU?

“It just kind of happened. I wish I could say there was a set plan, but it’s been about staying humble and doing the roles you don’t want to do to get in the door. Football is football. People are people. Whether you’re at Chaparral or Arizona State, it’s about learning how to operate in each environment.”

YOU’VE BROUGHT LOCAL COACHES WITH YOU TO ASU. WHY IS THAT HOMETOWN CONNECTION IMPORTANT?

“This city is different from most in college football. It’s a transplant city, so to build real pride, you need people who care. I wanted coaches who love Arizona and love ASU; people who want to stay. That’s how you build continuity and a lasting culture. I brought guys who know what it’s like to grind here. Coaches from Chap, Saguaro… guys who grew up coaching in 110-degree heat on high school fields. That matters. That builds a different kind of toughness.”

“I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE IN THE GAME. THERE WAS NEVER A PLAN B.”

WHAT’S THE BEST PART ABOUT COACHING AT ASU?

“The connection. Walking into a place and seeing your middle school PE coach waving at you from the stands. Bumping into your friend’s uncle at a gas station who asks about spring ball. There’s no other job in the country where I’d get those kinds of moments.”

THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

“Trying to please everyone. I grew up here, so I know a lot of people. Everyone wants tickets, favors... Literally every week someone texts asking if I can help with parking or sideline passes. It’s all out of love, but I have to draw lines. At some point, I’m like, ‘I’m coaching a football team, not running a concierge desk!’”

YOU HELPED BRING HOME A CONFERENCE TITLE IN YOUR SECOND YEAR AS HEAD COACH. TELL US ABOUT THAT MOMENT.

“It was surreal. Confetti falling, players celebrating... you think, ‘Is this real life?’ But I’m not great at reflecting. I enjoy the moment and then move on. What I really love is seeing the Valley get behind ASU again. That’s what college football is about.”

HOW DOES THE MOVE TO THE BIG 12 SHIFT THINGS?

“It gives us access to recruit a new region. That blend of players makes us better. And getting to coach against legendary programs and coaches is a huge challenge I embrace.”

YOUR BIGGEST TAKEAWAY FROM LAST SEASON?

“Effort and continuity matter. Guys playing for each other is powerful. This season, it’s about doubling down on those things.”

HOW DO YOU DEFINE YOUR COACHING STYLE?

“Honest. Enthusiastic. Hopefully smart.”

WHAT’S YOUR GO-TO MOTIVATION METHOD WITH YOUR PLAYERS?

“Brutal honesty. I think people underestimate this generation… they say you can’t be too hard on them, but I disagree. They want the truth. When you give it to them straight, they respond.”

WILL THAT SAME APPROACH APPLY TO YOUR OWN SON AS HE GROWS UP?

“Hopefully. And if I can’t deliver it, I better find someone who can coach him the way he needs.”

WHAT KEEPS YOU MENTALLY GROUNDED?

“This is my job, but it’s also my hobby. I love it. We have a saying: ‘Have more fun working harder than anyone in the country.’ That’s how I approach every day. I’m lucky. I don’t need an escape from work because I genuinely love it. Sure, there are hard days, but even the hard days are worth it.”

WHAT WOULD YOUR PLAYERS SAY ABOUT YOU?

“They’d probably say I’m goofy… or consistent. Hopefully both. If you walked into practice, you’d probably hear me cracking a joke before blowing a whistle. I want to create an environment where guys want to be… where they know they’re going to be challenged, but also know I’m in their corner. Also, I’m sure they think I talk fast. I get excited and just go. I don’t really shut off.”

AND SPEAKING OF FAMILY, YOU LIVE CLOSE TO YOURS, RIGHT?

“Yeah, my sister and I share a back fence. My mom lives down the street and randomly picks up my toddler for a few hours. It’s pretty amazing... there’s only one job that’s truly home for me, and this is it.”

WHAT WOULD YOU TELL YOUR HIGH SCHOOL SELF?

“Ignore the drama. There’s drama in everything. Pick the battles that matter.”

CHEAT MEAL?

“Everything.”

GAME DAY PLAYLIST?

“I don’t listen much. I try to calm down more than get pumped up.”

WHO’S YOUR COACHING IDOL?

“Pete Carroll. He embodied what great leadership looks like.”

BEST ADVICE?

“Be yourself.”

WHAT’S A SIDE OF YOU PEOPLE DON’T USUALLY SEE?

“Everyone sees the fun, energetic guy. But I’m very direct.”

WHAT CAN FANS EXPECT THIS SEASON?

“I just hope our guys play as hard as they did last year. If we do that, good things are going to happen.”

WHAT KIND OF LEGACY DO YOU HOPE TO LEAVE AT ASU?

“I don’t care about my own legacy. I just want the next generation- my son’s generation- to grow up thinking ASU has always been a winner. That’s how I know we did it right. It’s about a 10-year-old watching a game and dreaming of being a Sun Devil. That’s the win.”

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS?

“Hopefully still here.”

From NFL dreams to locker room leadership, three ASU players reflect on what drives them

Sun Devils Poised to Make an Impact

Cam Skattebo made headlines as a 2025 NFL Draft pick by the New York Giants, capping off a standout ASU career. Now, quarterback Sam Leavitt is stepping into the spotlight, ready to lead with confidence. As the Sun Devils build momentum, all eyes are on the next wave of rising stars - and we scored some insights from a select three.

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY YOUNG BUCK SPORTS MANAGEMENT

Justin Wodtly

Defensive Lineman, ASU

“I fell in love with football when I was 6 years old. I come from a big football family and had 3 uncles play in the NFL. My whole life, I’ve been chasing being like them. From D1 to NAIA, the percentage of playing on the next level is small, so take advantage of all the opportunities presented to you and be the best version of you every day.”

CJ Fite

Defensive Lineman, ASU

“You aren’t just a football player... you are a young man as well. I want to try to show my teammates how to work, how to carry themselves off the field, and how to go about life the right way. I can evolve by taking that next step in leadership.”

Max Iheanachor

Offensive Lineman, ASU

“As a kid, I admired Penei Sewell. Watching him play showed me how dominant and athletic an offensive lineman can be. He brings this rare mix of strength, footwork, and aggression, and he plays with real confidence. As someone who came into football late, seeing a guy like that thrive at the highest level gave me something to chase. I study his game a lot—his technique, how he finishes blocks, how he leads. He’s definitely someone I model parts of my game after. My cheat meal? Definitely gotta go with wings... extra crispy with lemon pepper dry rub.”

The Mom Behind the MVP

From parenting Patrick to launching Sports Parent Academy, Randi Mahomes helps parents navigate the highs, lows, and heart of raising athletes

You might be wondering why you’re reading about Randi Mahomes in our Arizona-based publication. Well, here’s why: she’s a sports mom... just like many of us. She spent years shuttling her kids to practices, cheering from the sidelines, consoling after losses, and celebrating big wins- through elementary, middle, and high school. The difference? Her son made it. He became what so many of our kids dream of becoming.

Now, Randi is passionate about helping sports parents become better sports parents, because let’s be honest, it can be rough out there. That’s why you’re reading about the down-to-earth, no-filter Randi Mahomes.

Here is our exclusive Q&A.

Before anyone knew the name Mahomes, who were you?

I was known as a baseball wife, then an ex-wife, and most importantly, as Patrick, Jackson, and Mia’s mom. The early years of motherhood shaped me. They forced me to grow up fast, but they also gave me the greatest gift of my life- motherhood.

What part of your upbringing shaped the way you’ve chosen to parent?

My parents were very strict, and as a kid, I swore I’d be the “cool mom.” But here I am... definitely stricter than I expected. And honestly, I can see how that structure helped shape Patrick and my other kids in the best ways.

You’ve described yourself as grounded in faith and resilience. What moment tested that most?

When I was in school, I had a teacher wrongly accuse me of something. It shook me and almost made me walk away from my faith, but I didn’t. That experience tested everything I believed in, and I came out stronger.

Single parenting is often romanticized when success follows… what’s a side of that experience no one sees?

People don’t see the constant balancing act. You have to be the nurturer and the disciplinarian, the provider and the protector. You carry it all, and some days, that’s heavier than anyone realizes.

I missed a lot... school events, social outings, holidays. I worked long hours to make sure they had what they needed. That was the trade-off, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

There’s a lot of talk about parents “not doing too much” in youth sports. Did you ever question whether you were doing enough?

Absolutely. Especially in high school, I remember wondering if I had given him enough support or access. Coming from a small town, we didn’t have many resources.

Tell us about the journey, especially when things started to get serious.

When scouts started showing up- especially during his junior and senior years- it became overwhelming. I wanted Patrick to enjoy being a teenager, but suddenly we were making life-changing decisions. That pressure weighs heavy on a parent’s heart.

I always knew he had something special, but when major league baseball scouts started showing up at his games, I realized this wasn’t just a phase. His focus and commitment was different.

You recently launched Sports Parent Academy. What is it, and what do you hope it gives parents?

I created Sports Parent Academy because I’ve lived this journey... confused, overwhelmed, and without a roadmap like a deer in headlights. I was a young mom navigating uncharted territory. This platform is everything I wish I had, created to guide parents through the ups and downs of raising an athlete. We need more structure and guidance for parents.

What’s one mistake you made as a sports parent that shaped this course?

Nutrition. I kept my kids fed and happy, but I didn’t fully understand the role nutrition plays in athletic development. Looking back, I wish I had made that a bigger priority. But as a working single mom, I did the best I could.

You’ve brought in Stanford doctors, elite agents... even Shaq’s psychologist. What’s the hardest truth parents of young athletes need to hear?

Your kids are becoming their own people. Letting go isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. Sometimes the best thing you can do is step back and let them grow.

How do you help parents support without smothering, especially when they see serious talent in their kids?

Encourage teamwork, positivity, and balance. Teach them that practice and preparation matter just as much as the game, but also remind them that it’s supposed to be fun. That’s what keeps the love for the sport alive.

What role does mental health play in raising athletes?

Emotional wellbeing is everything. Wins and losses come fast, and competition is fierce. Kids need to know how to lose well, process emotions, and stay grounded. Sports is as much a mental game as it is physical.

You’re a mom of three, each with their own personality. What has that taught you about adapting and meeting your kids where they are?

I had to release my expectations. Their dreams might not match the ones I had for them, and that’s okay. Whether it’s sports, college, or something totally unexpected, I’ve learned to support them for who they are, not who I thought they’d be.

What does parenting look like in your household today, especially now that your kids are growing into adulthood, fame, and independence? (And having kids of their own!)

I’m still parenting, but it’s different now. With Mia still at home, I get to be more present, more relaxed. I’ve learned to slow down and enjoy the little moments.

When Patrick became a household name, how did your family dynamic shift?

It was a huge adjustment. Fame changes everything... how people see you, how you move through the world. We had to prioritize privacy, protect our peace, and stay grounded despite the noise.

What’s something about Patrick the public doesn’t see- only a mama would know?

I can always tell when something’s offwhen he’s tired, overwhelmed, or hurting. He stays on top of everything, but I still see and sense the little things no one else does.

When are you proudest of Patrick?

When he’s with his kids. Watching him be a present, hands-on dad... that’s the greatest pride of all.

Where Innovative Design Meets Timeless Elegance

“We

take pride in every project we undertake. Our dedication to quality and attention to detail is what drives our team to always exceed your expectations.”

Patrick credits you often. Do you think mothers of elite athletes get enough credit?

Absolutely not, LOL! We are the ones who held it all together. We’re the ones who built that foundation.

You’ve become a staple on social media as both a proud mom and your own voice. Has it felt empowering?

It can be overwhelming, but I know I’m being called to something bigger. God is leading me, and the impact I’m able to have makes it all worth it. Whenever I post something that speaks directly to other parents, I’m always surprised (and touched) by how many reach out with gratitude and questions to learn more.

What does legacy mean to you?

Especially after losing my parents, I understand the power of what we leave behind and how it can shape the next generation.

What do you tell parents whose kids don’t go pro?

It’s okay if they don’t go pro. There’s still purpose and beauty in the journey. My brother didn’t go pro, but now he’s a coach living his dream and coaching his kids, too! God’s plans are always bigger than ours.

You’re all about giving back... what drives that mission?

I’ve been so blessed, and it’s how I stay grounded and connected.

If you could create one rule for every sports parent to follow, what would it be?

Stay involved... even when it’s hard. Do what’s best for your child and your family, and don’t give up.

When you look back on Patrick’s childhood, what’s a specific moment that still gets you teary?

His first t-ball game. They were short a player, and he jumped in. He ended up taking over the whole game on the same field where I played as a kid. It was full-circle and unforgettable.

What’s one memory you wish you could revisit?

Our drive to Lubbock when he was deciding on college. Just the two of us, talking for hours. That, and our weekend together before the draft... it was so special.

Was there ever a moment you felt like stepping back or questioned if it was all too much?

When he made it to the NFL, I was overwhelmed. The fame, the lifestyle, the people... it was a lot.

If you had written down a journal entry the day Patrick was drafted, what would it have said?

I knew this day would come. I didn’t know it would be football, but I always knew something big was coming.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Trust your gut and surrender. Let go of your plans and lean into God’s. And don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.

If your kids were to comment, what do you think they’d say about you?

They’d say I’m always there... maybe a little crazy sometimes, but always in their corner. They know I want what’s best and that I built a foundation they can stand on.

HOW A CHILDHOOD LOVE OF BASKETBALL BECAME A 14,000-SQUARE-FOOT VISION OF HOPE AND HOME

INTRODUCING SWYSH DEN

For Scottsdale’s Steve Moses, basketball was never just a game, it was the soundtrack of his childhood. Late nights watching Lakers games on VHS with his dad. Mimicking Magic Johnson’s no-look passes. Counting down imaginary buzzer-beaters like Kobe. It was joy, escape, connection.

But in 2005, everything changed. Steve was diagnosed with Guillain-

of the lounge- every detail was chosen to create an experience that feels both high-level and highly personal.

“We want people to walk in and instantly feel, ‘This was made for me,’” Steve says.

That intention comes to life under the leadership of Michael Ruffin, Swysh Den’s Program Director. A former NBA veteran with a 12-year professional

“SWYSH DEN IS A HOME FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES THE GAME.”

Barré Syndrome, a rare neurological condition that left him completely paralyzed in the ICU.

“A nurse who coached youth basketball told me I’d walk again, and that one day, I’d play,” Steve recalls. “That gave me hope.”

At the time, all he wanted was to get back on the court. Today, he’s done more than that… he’s created a place where others can rediscover that same hope, joy, and sense of belonging.

Welcome to Swysh Den.

This new 14,000-square-foot basketball facility in Scottsdale blends elite-level training with accessibility, innovation, and community. It’s built on tech and coaching expertise, but its heartbeat is culture.

“I wanted something different,” Steve says. “Basketball is a social sport. Most of us just want a space to hang, to play, to feel like we belong.”

That feeling is exactly what Swysh Den delivers. From the court flooring to the mobile app, from the music playing when you walk in to the layout

career and coaching experience with the Phoenix Suns and New Orleans Pelicans, Michael brings a rare blend of expertise, humility, and heart.

“I wasn’t the star,” he says. “I was the guy doing the dirty work… rebounding, defending, setting the tone. That grind taught me about preparation, consistency, and leadership. That’s what I bring to the programs we run here.”

At Swysh Den, that mindset shapes everything from the coaching staff to the curriculum.

“I oversee our basketball programming from youth development to advanced training,” Michael says. “Every drill, every progression, every player interaction is intentional. We’re building skill, but we’re also building people.”

Programs are tailored to each level. Younger or recreational players focus on fundamentals and fun. Competitive athletes are guided through refinement, mental performance, and highlevel prep. But across all tiers, the approach is progressive, measurable, and rooted in individual growth.

CONTINUED >

“YOU WALK IN AND FEEL IT IMMEDIATELY.”

“Development is a process,” Michael says. “You don’t need to be the best today. You just need to be better than yesterday. That’s the win we care about.”

It’s not just what Swysh Den offers… it’s how.

Players reserve flexible sessions through an app, removing the chaos of open gyms. Shooting bays use real-time analytics. Ball-handling kiosks track progress. Video playback and personalized feedback help players reflect and adjust. It’s training, elevated.

“You walk in and feel it immediately,” Michael says. “This space was built for you.”

The design backs that up: a full court that converts into two junior courts. Five shooting bays. A turf zone for strength and recovery. Private coaching areas. And “The Den”- a modern lounge with Wi-Fi, TVs, and an interactive wall where families can relax and connect.

“Parents tell me they’ve never seen anything like it,” Steve says. “It’s structured but fun. Serious but not intimidating. And most importantly, their kids want to come back.”

Even more is coming. In the months ahead: 3v3 tournaments, youth development tracks, league play, family events, corporate sessions, and more.

“The vision is simple,” Michael says. “Make every player feel seen, supported, and excited to grow.”

“This isn’t a rental gym,” Steve continues. “It’s not a pop-up clinic. It’s a home for anyone who loves the game.”

And for the duo running the Swysh Den ship, that mission is personal.

“As a dad, this matters to me,” says Michael. “I want my kids to have safe places to grow, not just as athletes, but as people. That’s what we’re building.”

“This place isn’t just about basketball,” reflects Steve. “It’s about community. About belonging. About turning a twenty-year dream into something others can now call home.”

Katie Wilson never imagined she’d be at the helm of one of Arizona’s most beloved and enduring boutiques. But here she is- 25 years later- marking a milestone that feels both surreal and deeply earned.

Garage Boutique & Concept Store, nestled in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, is celebrating its silver anniversary this year. And with it comes a rare opportunity to reflect… not just on survival, but on evolution. Garage hasn’t simply weathered the changing tides of fashion and retail. It has blossomed, endured, and inspired. Whimsical yet elevated, stylish yet grounded, it’s a boutique that has become a rite of passage for generations of families.

“I actually started my career practicing law. After going through a divorce, I knew I didn’t want to work my life away without joy or balance. I took a six-week sabbatical to Africa, and that time was life changing for me. I returned to the States, and quit my job. The opportunity to open Garage Boutique arose with no formal retail background, aside from a black belt in shopping and a summer job at Benetton. It felt like a chance to merge my lifelong love of fashion with a purpose-driven life.”

Katie grew up on the Main Line on the East Coast, where personal style wasn’t just encouraged, it was expected.

“My mother was always impeccably dressed,” she recalls. “On weekends, my friends and I would shop Suburban Square for the latest trends. We also, hands down, had the cutest pencil, eraser and sticker collections, and made our own barrettes at our weekend sleepovers. That mindset of dressing daily never left me. I’ve always believed clothing is a celebration of personality.”

Though fashion would become her calling, it came later in life; through instinct, healing, and bold reinvention.

“Law gave me discipline. Travel gave me perspective. But Garage gave me independence, balance, and creativity. It let me build a life on my own terms.”

The spark that ignited it all? A child lighting up after trying on something special.

Garage’s signature style blends boutique European labels with luxe mini-versions of designer favorites. Think Balmain, Fendi, Chloe, Gucci, Stella McCartney, Scotch & Soda, and Hugo Boss.

“I focus on style over labels. Children deserve beautiful things, too. Fashion builds confidence and identity. Garage was always meant to be a time capsule of childhood magic… chic, playful, and personal.”

And it’s not just fashion that defines the Garage experience.

“Where else can you find Dior for kids, candy cigarettes, pop rocks, and a shop dog named Barkley greeting you at the door?”

Barkley, by the way, isn’t just a mascot, he’s part of the soul of the store.

“He showed up at my doorstep 14 years ago and has never left my side(nor missed a day of work).  He’s my reminder of loyalty, joy, and unconditional love.”

Garage is also synonymous with giving back. Philanthropy is at its core.

“Children’s causes are my heartbeat,” Katie shares. “For the last 25 years, I have supported organizations like PANDA, MakeA-Wish Arizona, Childhelp, Not My Kid, Global Family Philanthropy, and the Ronan Thompson Foundation. I love the concept of “Fashion for Philanthropy”, a Fashion Show platform that empowers and teaches young customers to lead, give back to their community and get involved.”

One of the boutique’s most beloved community initiatives often used for school auctions? The “Garage Model Employee for the Day” program where kids get to “work” a shift, wear their favorite outfit, hand out goodies to customers, and even earn a $20/hr salary that Garage donates back to their school.

“It’s a hot ticket auction item for any school fundraiser.”

If the past 25 years have taught Katie anything, it’s the power of presence.

“Real, human connection can’t be replaced. Our customers are the heartbeat of this business. Whether they’ve been shopping with me for decades or just found us last week, their energy fuels mine.”

As for her own style? “Timeless, chic, with a playful edge- just like the store.”

And if she could whisper something to herself on opening day, 25 years ago?

“Hold tight to your vision. Don’t let anyone drown out your instincts. Keep showing up, having fun, working hard, and believing in what only  you can see. It won’t always be easy, but if you stay true to yourself, it’ll be worth it.”

Garage Boutique & Concept Store is more than a shop. It’s a Scottsdale staple. A celebration of individuality. A place where fashion, family, and giving collide in the most beautiful way.

Garage may be celebrating its silver anniversary, but Katie’s passion is pure gold… and the best is yet to come.

Smells Like Team Spirit

Inside the Valley’s Youth Rock Revolution

PHOTOGRAPHY BY BARRET ELENGOLD, SCOTTSDALE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY

Not every kid wants a trophy. Some want a mic. A stage. A setlist.

Before the hit Jack Black movie, School of Rock was already a real place.

“Sure, people still expect Jack Black,” laughs Michelle Worley, General Manager of School of Rock Scottsdale.

“But what we’ve built is something even cooler. Because it’s real. And it’s theirs.”

This is where kids who don’t quite click with cleats or letterman jackets come to feel seen. Maybe they’re quiet, overlooked, unsure. Doesn’t matter. Once they pick up that guitar or step behind that drum kit, they start to come alive.

“We’re a growing, passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through music. But what we’re really teaching are life skills... teamwork, confidence, self-awareness through group development and performance,” says Michelle.

The program starts with understanding each student’s interests, learning style, and ability. Students begin with private lessons, but they’re quickly placed in a band setting, rehearsing multiple times a week under the guidance of professional instructors... legit musicians who also serve as mentors.

Placement is thoughtful as kids are grouped not only by age and skill, but by vibe.

“We often have elementary schoolers playing alongside high schoolers. It’s amazing to see how that dynamic brings out the best in both. The older ones step up as leaders, and the younger ones rise to the challenge.”

And the music? It’s the soundtrack of rebellion, resilience, and joy. Setlists have included Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Nirvana, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Joan Jett, Foo Fighters, Pink Floyd, Green Day, Metallica, Queen, The White Stripes, and themed shows like Women in Rock , Best of the ’90s, British Invasion , and Arena Rock Anthems

“Imagine trying to learn basketball without ever playing a game. That’s what traditional music lessons feel like to a lot of kids. We throw them into the game... in a good way. That’s where the growth happens.”

Every few months, a new season begins. And at every session’s end, students hit the stage. And these aren’t pretend performances; they’re legit shows, held at real venues, with real crowds.

One of the most supportive venues? Wasted Grain in Old Town Scottsdale, part of Square One Concepts.

“Wasted Grain has many faces,” says General Manager Marcel Engelmann. “It’s not just a nightclub, it’s also a great live music venue. We love hosting events like School of Rock because we support all forms of musicianship, especially the next generation.”

The impact goes both ways.

“Seeing kids on stage in a professional environment is amazing. It’s a real confidence booster. And for us,

it showcases what Wasted Grain can be- a multifunctional space where real community moments happen,” says Marcel.

That first show is always transformative.

“The adrenaline mixed with the sense of victory is pretty intense,” says Michelle. “Kids leave the stage taller. They realize they just did something they never thought they could.”

And the kids feel it, too:

“I can be loud and myself when I’m playing music.” — John, age 13

“I was super proud of myself when I played ‘Come Together’ for my school talent show— and I learned that song here.” — Charlie, age 7

“Sometimes we get to mosh around on stage and bang our heads to the music. That helps me get the anger out. I always feel better after I play music with my friends.” — Max, age 9

And for many of these kids, music becomes something more than a hobby.

“Music is therapy, whether we call it that or not. We’ve had students come in who were battling anxiety, self-doubt, or simply didn’t feel like they belonged anywhere. Suddenly, they’re part of something. They’re creating, expressing, and bonding over a jam session. That kind of emotional growth? You can’t measure it in notes.”

And science backs that up. Research from the American Psychological Association and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine shows that playing music activates nearly every region of the brain, enhancing memory, emotional regulation, motor coordination, and even resilience to stress. Furthermore, it says music training significantly reduces depression and anxiety levels in adolescents, while improving executive functioning and overall well-being. And for kids navigating anxiety, ADHD, or social isolation, consistent music education leads to measurable improvements in mood, self-esteem, and interpersonal connection.

“Kids start as young as six; adults are part of the mix too. The structure is fluid but supportive: Rock 101 for newcomers, performance groups for intermediate players, and House Band for the most committed. Everyone performs. Everyone improves,” reflects Michelle.

In fact, they’ve had students go on to form bands, record albums, and tour. One standout success story? Doll Skin, a band that formed at School of Rock Scottsdale, won their high school Battle of the Bands, and caught the attention of Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, who signed them to a record deal.

“It’s not just about building musicians. It’s about building humans who know how to collaborate, express themselves, and stay true to who they are.”

But most students won’t need a record label to feel like they belong. That happens the moment the lights hit and the first chord rings out. Rock on.

The Heart Doesn’t Always Yell. Sometimes, It Whispers.

As parents, we’re quick to notice every detail about our kids, but when it comes to ourselves, we often miss the signs. Heart disease doesn’t always announce itself. It hides in the everyday.

Things You Might Not Realize Are Heart-Related:

• That “just tired” feeling that never goes away

• Getting winded faster than you used to

• Dizziness when you stand too fast

• Swelling in your legs or ankles

• Heartburn that isn’t helped by antacids

• Waking up gasping or with a racing heart

• Brain fog or unexplained fatigue

• High blood pressure even if you “feel fine”

Through advanced screening, personalized care, and a focus on prevention, Dr. Sharma and the great team at Cardiac Solutions can help you protect your heart... and the life you’re building around it.

Because showing up for your family starts with showing up for yourself.

Introducing: PLAY & STAY

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY PLAY & STAY

It’s the idea we’ve all had at some point, usually mid-meltdown, laptop balancing on one knee, baby wipes in hand, and a toddler launching goldfish across the room.

There should be a space where little kids can play safely and moms can breathe. Not a chaotic trampoline park. Not a grimy play zone. Something better. Something designed for us… parents in the thick of it, trying to work, trying to show up, trying not to lose our minds.

Danielle Huppler didn’t just think about it. She built it.

After years of feeling overwhelmed by the lack of truly functional spaces for young children and their caregivers, she created Play & Stay, a thoughtfully designed indoor play space where kids can explore, socialize, and stay engaged while parents stay close and get a break (or finally send that email).

Located in Scottsdale, Play & Stay is warm, calm, and intuitive… exactly the kind of place Danielle wished existed during her early years of motherhood. “I wasn’t looking to start a business,” she says. “I was looking for a lifeline. And when I realized it didn’t exist, I knew I had to create it.”

“I DIDN’T REALIZE HOW MUCH THE workplace had changed UNTIL I SAW PARENTS SETTING UP FULL remote offices IN OUR LOUNGE AREA. THAT’S WHEN I KNEW WE needed more . NOT LOUDER SPACES. Smarter ones .”

From the safe, enclosed play areas and supervised staff to the peaceful parent seating and low-stress vibe, everything at Play & Stay is intentional. This is not a dropoff daycare. This is a place where parents or caregivers can catch a breath or work while their littles are supervised and having fun.

It’s also not a noisy gym. It’s a beautifully functional solution for modern parents, many of whom are now working remotely and juggling it all.

Here’s how it works: families book either a morning or afternoon session, and they can stay for as long as they’d like within that block of time. Activities like crafts, dance parties, and guided play keep the littles engaged (the space is designed for ages 0 to 6), while trained staff—aka the beloved “playground crew”—ensure everyone’s having fun and staying safe. Grippy socks are required, coffee is available, outside snacks are welcome, and the Wi-Fi is fast. While drop-ins are available, memberships are the most effective and affordable option for families who plan to visit regularly.

It’s the new go-to for moms, dads, grandparents, and nannies alike. Whether you want to squeeze in some work emails, chat with a friend, or find comfort knowing you don’t have to leave your child to catch a break, Play & Stay delivers.

“I wanted a space where you could exhale,” Danielle says. “Where your kids are stimulated and safe, and you’re still right there, supported.”

And it’s grown. Families now commute from across the Valley just to spend their mornings at Play & Stay.

“I WANTED A space WHERE YOU COULD exhale . WHERE YOUR KIDS ARE stimulated and safe , AND YOU’RE STILL right there .”

Danielle’s journey, rooted in motherhood and shaped by a genuine desire to make life easier for others, has now expanded next door to Work & Stay, a curated co-working space with private meeting rooms and communal areas, designed specifically for parents who want professional productivity without sacrificing proximity.

“I didn’t realize how much the workplace had changed until I saw parents setting up full remote offices in our lounge area,” she says. “That’s when I knew we needed more. Not louder spaces. Smarter ones.”

Whether it’s the dad who thought he was depressed, but realized he just needed structure and connection… or the mom who finally finished her resume and found a new job while her toddler played happily nearby, the hot spot is making a very real difference.

Because as Danielle proves, sometimes the best businesses don’t start with a plan. They start with a parent thinking, There has to be a better way. And then building it.

PURPOSEFULLY Put Together

Inside Abby Kahn’s Real-Life Approach to Pantry Peace, Family Flow, & the B2S Reset

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY ABBSOLUTELY ORGANIZED

Before founding Abbsolutely Organized , Abby Kahn was shaping lives and spaces as a kindergarten and second-grade teacher in Phoenix.

“Setting up my classroom was always the highlight of my year,” she says. “I loved making each corner purposeful, warm, and welcoming.”

That passion didn’t fade after the final bell… it evolved. As a new mom, Abby began designing activity-based play areas and creating systems that made her home easier to live in, not just prettier. Friends took notice, and started asking for help.

Soon, what began as a side hobby became a full-time calling. With a name that nods to both her knack for systems and her own name, Abbsolutely Organized was born.

“Organization has always come naturally, but now it’s also my purpose.”

Abby’s approach to organizing is rooted in real life, not Pinterest.

“A beautiful pantry that doesn’t work is just a styled photo.”

Her systems solve real-life pain points around how a family shops, eats, and lives. She reads each home as a combination of space and behavior: overflowing bins signal misalignment, buried duplicates point to visibility breakdowns, and ignored labels reveal an intuitive flaw.

“You’re often invited into clutter and chaos and your job is to listen without judgment and design a solution.”

With back to school season in full force, Abby is dishing her best kept secrets when it comes to pantry organization. And her first rule of thumb: start with zones.

“Zones should reflect how you use your pantry. We design them around your habits, not trends.”

Why Zones Work:

• They make everything intuitive; you know exactly where to look for snacks, pasta, etc.

• They reduce decision fatigue. Grouping by function eliminates clutter and chaos.

• They support the whole family; everyone knows where things go.

Where Zones Go Wrong:

• People think they need to follow Pinterest-perfect labels (you don’t).

• They over-categorize, which makes systems harder to maintain.

• Zones aren’t personalized (your zones should match your lifestyle and eating habits, not someone else’s).

Another tactic: creating and encouraging independence for kids.

• Set up clear, kid-only zones with bins at eye level.

• Limit what’s accessible and control overflow.

• Include them in midweek refills to build ownership.

Abby calls decanting- transferring pantry staples into clear containers- one of the most misunderstood organizing tools. When done right, it reduces clutter, improves visibility, and streamlines access to everyday items. But it’s not always necessary; for busy households or rarely used foods, it can add more maintenance than it’s worth.

“Decant only when it simplifies your life.”

For families or anyone who shops in bulk, excess is part of the rhythm. Abby always creates a Backstock Zone, a designated space for extra groceries that don’t need to be mixed into everyday items.

“Backstock isn’t extra… it’s essential.”

Her ultimate goal? To give clients a lasting foundation- one that holds up through real life. And to get there, Abby follows a few tried-and-true must-dos.

• Build zones that reset themselves with minimal effort

• Add a “flex bin” for unpacked groceries

• Set aside 5 minutes weekly for a simple reset: toss, return, refill

• Involve the entire household

• Offer refresh sessions seasonally or monthly

Abby emphasizes maintenance days; not as major overhauls, but quick, strategic resets. Done monthly or quarterly, two organizers tackle small but impactful tasks: tossing expired items, wiping bins, restocking, and realigning zones.

abbsolutelyorganized.com

THE B2S RESET

As the school year ramps up, Abby and her team offer returning clients a thoughtful back-to-school reset- a seasonal refresh to ease the transition. From kid-friendly snack zones and grab-and-go breakfast shelves to dinner baskets and labeled bins, these practical, “good enough” systems help families navigate mornings and mealtimes with less stress and more flow.

Real Questions, Real Answers

FROM GROWTH SPURTS TO BODY CHANGES... SCOTTSDALE’S FULL LIFE MEDICAL TACKLES THE TOPICS

PARENTS WHISPER ABOUT

As families reset for a new school year, wellness checks often come back into focus; but for some, the traditional pediatric model no longer meets the moment. That’s where Scottsdale’s Full Life Medical steps in.

Founded by Dr. Ivorie Coleman, MD, MBA, and home to a growing team of top-tier physicians including pediatric lead Dr. Kelsey Chemelewski, Full Life blends the values of family medicine with the access and attentiveness of concierge care. Their philosophy? That every parent deserves a direct line to their doctor, and every child deserves time, attention, and tailored care as they grow.

In this Q&A, Dr. Chemelewski offers thoughtful answers to the questions she hears most from parents.

“Start the conversation early- around age 8and keep it casual and ongoing. Normalize the changes their bodies are going through.”

Q: How can parents navigate puberty-related topics without shame or awkwardness?

Start the conversation early- around age 8 is a good time- and keep it casual and ongoing. Normalize the changes their bodies are going through. There are also great books to help get the dialogue started, especially for kids who may be hesitant to talk.

Q: What do you say to the parents who whisper, “Is it normal that my 9-yearold still wets the bed?”

Yes, bedwetting can still be completely normal at that age. It’s often related to genetics and deep sleep patterns. If the child isn’t bothered, there’s typically no rush to intervene. But if it starts to impact their self-esteem, we can begin exploring options.

Q: Are kids really starting puberty earlier these days?

Yes, the average age of puberty onset has crept earlier. For girls, puberty often starts between 8–13; for boys, it’s 9–14. We’ve seen a drop in the average age of menstruation, from 12.5 in the 1950s to 11.9 today. The reasons are multifactorial: genetics, rising obesity rates, and possible exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals in plastics and personal care products. Ongoing research is exploring these links more deeply.

Q: When should parents be concerned about delayed puberty?

If a girl hasn’t started breast development by 13 or hasn’t had her first period by 15, or if a boy hasn’t shown testicular enlargement by 14, it’s worth a discussion with your pediatrician. Most often, it’s what we call Constitutional Delay- a child who’s simply on a slower, but still normal, timeline. A good family history and a few targeted tests can often confirm this.

CONTINUED >

Q: What kind of skincare is safe for tweens and early teens?

Start simple. A gentle, unscented cleanser like CeraVe or Cetaphil is usually sufficient. If acne begins to appear, we might recommend adding a benzoyl peroxide wash or topical treatment. Your pediatrician can help guide that transition.

Q: What are early signs of scoliosis or posture concerns during growth spurts?

Look for uneven shoulders, clothing that doesn’t hang evenly, or an unusual curve during a forward bend test. These issues can become more pronounced during growth spurts, so regular pediatric visits are key to catching them early.

Q: When should cholesterol and blood pressure be checked in kids?

All children should have a cholesterol screening between ages 9–11. If there’s a family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure, testing may be recommended earlier. Keeping your pediatrician informed of your family’s health history is crucial for early prevention.

Q: What makes concierge pediatrics different?

Time and access. I chose concierge care so I could truly show up for families. I see every child personally, without rotating doctors or rushed visits. Parents can call or text me directly—no phone trees or triage lines. And when a specialist is needed, I know exactly who to recommend because I’ve built those relationships. It’s care that’s personal, responsive, and built on trust.

Q: What changes when appointments aren’t rushed and communication is direct?

I get to truly connect with my patients- not just treat symptoms. With more time and direct access, we can dive into important topics like sleep, nutrition, and mental health. I also get to know kids beyond their chart, which builds trust. And when something urgent comes up, parents can text or call me directly, which brings fast answers and real peace of mind. What I Never Learned in Medical School

I’ve spent most of my adult life on a single track.

Four years of medical school. Nine more in residency and fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and Harvard. Chief of Surgery. Vice Chair of Surgery for a national hospital system. Then in June 2020, I opened my own practice... right as my son, EmJay, was born.

I was used to climbing. Advancing. Building. But nothing prepared me for the part of my life that truly changed me: becoming a dad.

Like many professionals, I once thought balance meant delegationoutsourcing what you could to manage the rest. But a couple of years ago, I let go of at-home help and leaned into fatherhood. The car rides. The bedtime stories. The messy art projects. The mornings that start too early and the nights that end with tiny arms wrapped around my neck.

I read once that over 80% of the time you’ll ever spend with your child happens before they turn 18, and most of it before they’re 12.* That hit me hard.

And strangely, parenting hasn’t distracted me from my career- it’s deepened it. I’m a better physician because I’m a dad. More patient. More present. More connected. Surgery is precise, controlled, and measured. Parenting is none of those things. But it’s real. And it’s mine.

“So yes, I’m a surgeon. An entrepreneur. A builder of things. But the best thing I’ll ever build is the bond with my son.”

From Breakouts to Bedtime Itch...

A SKIN SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR KIDS

When it comes to kids’ skin, parents have questions... and Valley-based concierge dermatology expert Hope Pack, MBA, FNP, has answers. From eczema and acne to molluscum contagiosum, she treats a wide range of pediatric concerns with science-backed solutions, real-life remedies, and no-nonsense advice.

GO-TO REMEDIES FOR COMMON SKIN ISSUES

When it comes to dryness, irritation, and mild rashes, Hope urges a back-to-basics approach: plain Vaseline for barrier repair, fragrance-free detergents, and gentle cleansers like Cetaphil. Coconut oil can help, but may cause allergies. Stick to lukewarm baths and moisturize right after for best results.

DRY SKIN VS. ECZEMA: HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE

Dry skin is typically flaky, rough, and mildly itchy, while eczema appears as red, inflamed patches- often in skin creases- and causes intense itching. “It’s a chronic disease process,” she says, “and needs more targeted treatment than just moisturizing.”

Hope Pack, MBA, FNP

STARTING A SKINCARE ROUTINE

She recommends beginning a basic skincare routine between ages 9 and 11:

• Gentle cleanser

• Moisturizer

• Daily sunscreen

“No fancy products or TikTok trends,” she adds. “Just simple, consistent care.”

MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM: WHEN TO WORRY

While many cases resolve on their own within two years, this contagious viral condition can spread to others.

“When needed, I offer in-home treatments... removal, topical prescriptions, or Y-canth.”

If molluscum is accompanied by a rash or discomfort, it’s time to seek care.

RASHES: WHEN TO CALL A PRO

Call your provider if a rash is:

• Spreading quickly

• Painful or blistering

• Not improving after basic care

• Accompanied by a fever or other symptoms

DO FOOD ALLERGIES SHOW UP ON SKIN?

They can... especially in babies and toddlers. Hives or eczema flares after eat ing certain foods are common indicators. However, in kids already diagnosed with eczema, flare-ups are rarely food-driven.

FOR THE CHRONIC SCRATCHERS AND PICKERS

For kids who pick or scratch at their skin, she offers a multi-step approach:

WHERE LUXURY & LEISURE MEET

• Evening bath + heavy moisturizer (cream and/or Vaseline)

• Short nails

• Cotton gloves overnight

• Long sleeves

• Antihistamines in certain cases

“It’s about controlling the itch and setting up routines that reduce skin trauma.”

TEEN ACNE: WHEN TO GET HELP

Start with Adapalene, the strongest over-the-counter treatment. If there’s no improvement in 6–8 weeks- or if breakouts are painful or scarring- seek prescription care.

HORMONAL ACNE 101

Typically appears on the jawline, cheeks, and lower third of the face, often flaring around the menstrual cycle in girls.

TIKTOK TRENDS... PROCEED WITH CAUTION

• Beef tallow: Comedogenic (clogs pores).

• DIY sunscreen: Dangerous... hard no.

• Hypochlorous acid spray: “Yes!” Especially after workouts.

MAKEUP FOR KIDS? OCCASIONALLY, SURE

Non-comedogenic, gently removed makeup used occasionally is fine. Problems arise with daily use and obsession with appearance.

POOL CHLORINE, SPORTS SWEAT, AND SKIN

Both can trigger rashes and breakouts:

• Rinse off after swimming

• Moisturize to protect the barrier

• Use hypochlorous spray post-sports if no shower is available

WHY SKIN FLARES UP DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR

“I see an uptick in almost everything after school starts... viral skin conditions like warts, molluscum, bacterial infections like impetigo, and of course, acne and fungal issues in older kids. It’s heat, stress, gear, and germs.”

BEST PRODUCT SWAPS FOR SENSITIVE SKIN

• Lotion —> Creams or Vaseline

• Soap —> CeraVe, Cetaphil, Vanicream

• Laundry detergent —> Fragrance-free, dye-free options like 7th Generation or Dapple

CONTACT DERMATITIS: THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION

Hope helps families track symptoms, simplify routines, and slowly reintroduce products to identify culprits. In persistent cases, patch testing may be used.

ONE MYTH HOPE WISHES PARENTS WOULD DROP

“That wounds should dry out and scab. They actually heal best when kept moisturized with Vaseline and protected.”

21 QUESTIONS WITH CHEF JOEY MAGGIORE

In true PVCL fashion, every month we play a round of 21 Questions with an esteemed Valley chef. For our Kids Issue, we’re celebrating a guy who’s all about family, flavor, and living la dolce vita- one Negroni and Carnitas Hash at a time. Meet Chef Joey Maggiore: the bold, bigger-than-life brunch boss behind concepts like Hash Kitchen , The Sicilian Butcher, The Italiano, and more. He’s a born entertainer, a father of three, and a second-generation restaurateur keeping his legendary family’s culinary flame burning.

1. FIRST FOOD MEMORY…

My Nonna Serena and my father Tomaso in Sicily, at 9 years old, made a Sicilian Eggplant that they had just picked from the garden. They made Alla Norma with braised eggplant, San Marzano tomato, dried ricotta and basil. They created all of it on the farm, with a glass of red wine, and I saw my dad’s laughter while my grandmother made the dish.

2. WHAT’S THE BIGGEST LESSON YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR DAD, TOMASO?

Hard work, relationships, amazing food, and you’re only as good as the last meal you cooked. Make your guest fall in love with you, your restaurant, and do good by them.

3. WHAT'S ONE THING YOUR MAMA INSTILLED IN YOU?

She taught me to work hard and be a good human. Treat your employees with respect and never forget where you came from.

4. WHAT WAS DINNER LIKE AT YOUR HOUSE GROWING UP?

House? You mean at the restaurant, right? Every meal was at my parents’ restaurants. My sister and I would be planted at a table and given a crazy meal, then fall asleep on the booths while they worked.

5. WHEN DID YOU FIRST KNOW YOU WANTED TO COOK FOR A LIVING?

Age 13 at Tomaso’s in Phoenix. I’d spend the night with my dad at work and watch him bring dishes to the table. People’s eyes would light up… it was like watching a rock star. I had to do it.

6. WHAT’S ONE DISH THAT WILL ALWAYS BE ON YOUR MENU?

Spaghetti Picchio Pacchiu. It reminds me of Sicily, my childhood, and my father in one bite. Roasted garlic, heirloom tomato, basil… it’s simplicity at its finest, with memories that make the dish come alive.

7. WHAT DO YOUR KIDS THINK YOU DO FOR A LIVING?

They think I hang out by the beach and have a money tree. In reality, I’m underpaid and overworked, but I do what I love.

8. HOW HAVE YOUR KIDS CHANGED THE WAY YOU APPROACH WORK AND LIFE?

They taught me to love, and that there’s more to life than working seven days a week. They taught me to enjoy the moments and not race through them.

9. GO-TO DRINK WHEN YOU’RE OFF THE CLOCK?

Negroni, Joey style. Navy strength Plymouth gin, Campari, sweet vermouth, and a big cube. But wait… add more Campari.

10. DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY IN 3 WORDS.

Charismatic, flashy, and innovative: the Italian Stallion.

11. HOW DO YOU KEEP THE CREATIVITY FLOWING ACROSS SO MANY CONCEPTS?

Passion and love for my brand make me want to be the best of the best.

12. DREAM DINNER PARTY… 4 GUESTS, DEAD OR ALIVE…

My father Tomaso, Sofia Loren, my wife Cristina, and Clint Eastwood.

13. FAVORITE RECIPE IN YOUR BRUNCH KING BOOK?

The Carnitas Hash.

4242 N. Craftsman Ct Scottsdale AZ, 85251 @PacificHeritageBoutique

Be The SunShine

14. WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE FOOD WHEN NO ONE’S WATCHING?

After work I eat Grape Nuts and a fresh banana.

15. HOBBIES OUTSIDE COOKING, EATING, AND ENTERTAINING?

Fishing and gardening. And then there’s craps, but we don’t talk about that.

16. WHAT’S YOUR PROUDEST DAD MOMENT SO FAR?

The day each of my kids were born.

17. WHAT’S ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?

Taking six months off, traveling through Italy with wine in one hand and a cannoli in the other.

18. WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU WISH PEOPLE UNDERSTOOD BETTER ABOUT THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS?

It’s not as easy as it looks. It takes hard work, dedication, and a sh*t ton of passion.

19. WHICH MAGGIORE CONCEPT BEST REFLECTS YOUR PERSONALITY?

The Italiano for sure. It goes to the root of my Italian heritage. Spectacular food, vibrant and sexy interior, and it’s across the street from where my father is buried.

20. WHAT’S ONE TRADITION FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD YOU’RE PASSING ON TO YOUR OWN KIDS?

Sundays are family days. We cook, eat, and hang out together. Also, the Feast of the Seven Fishes.

21. YOU AND CRISTINA HAVE BUILT A LIFE, A FAMILY, AND A RESTAURANT EMPIRE TOGETHER. HOW HAS YOUR LOVE STORY SHAPED EVERYTHING YOU’VE BUILT?

My sister Melissa introduced us in San Diego 26 years ago. We went on a date, and Cristina fell in love immediately. Just kidding… I fell in love, and it’s been that way ever since. We do it all together. We built our dreams as one. Not many people can say that.

FOUR SEASONS, FOUR WAYS

A

Year of Elevated Experiences in the Heart of the Tetons

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY FOUR SEASONS JACKSON HOLE

Snow King's Cowboy Coaster

It’s hard to put into words just how special Teton Village, Wyoming is. Equal parts luxury and wild, ease and awe, the Jackson Hole area is the kind of place that lets you feel away, detached, and deeply present. Something essential for busy families always on the go. Something essential for families looking to reconnect and be among the most beautiful scenery imaginable. And Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole? It makes the magic feel like home.

Our recent summer escape to the towering peaks of the Tetons did not disappoint. The property is spacious, elevated, and thoughtfully family-friendly. Multiple bedrooms, a full kitchen, cozy wood-beam fireplaces, and yes, in-unit laundry (music to mom-ears when traveling with kids).

We kicked off our stay with dinner at the property's Handle Bar, a lively and relaxed spot perched at the base of the mountain. We indulged in elk meatballs, brisket grilled cheese, and the golden hour glow.

The next morning, we set out early on a wildlife safari with Jackson Hole Wildlife Safaris, an excursion courtesy of Four Seasons. Our guide was a force of nature: energetic, hilarious, and

a walking encyclopedia of Grand Teton lore. With binoculars in hand, we sought to spot bison, pronghorn, eagles... and the ultimate prize: a moose, just off the trail, massive and magnificent. The kids were wide-eyed. As were us big kids.

Later that day, we rode the tram to the top of Rendezvous Mountain- a must. At over 10,000 feet, we indulged in Corbet’s Cabin waffles (banana Nutella) and took in panoramic views that made you pause, breathe, and take it all in. Also an itinerary must: spending an afternoon at Snow King Mountain in downtown Jackson. The Cowboy Coaster is a thrill, as is the Alpine Slide. Not to mention mini-golf, a scenic chairlift, and more.

Ranked the #1 Resort in Wyoming by U.S. News & World Report, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole blends frontier heritage with five-star comfort. With spacious guest rooms and private residences, a world-class alpine spa, exceptional culinary concepts, and thoughtful family programming, it’s where rustic charm meets refined luxury. Whether you're staying in a one-bedroom suite or a sprawling five-bedroom penthouse with oversized soaking tubs and panoramic Teton views, you’ll feel like you're living the dream… not just visiting it.

Four Seasons

RESORT IN WYOMING BY U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT, FOUR SEASONS RESORT AND RESIDENCES JACKSON

HOLE BLENDS FRONTIER HERITAGE WITH FIVE-STAR COMFORT.

As the Tetons bask under big-sky blue, summer at Four Seasons is all about wide-open adventure. We loved starting our mornings at First Chair, the resort’s grab-and-go café, where fresh pastries and cold-pressed juices fuel whatever adventure the day has in store.

And there are so many ways to explore. If you’re feeling bold, soar tandem on a paragliding flight with a professional pilot from the very top of the tram, taking in jaw-dropping views as you glide above the valley. Evenings offer enjoying live performances at the Grand Teton Music Festival or free Concerts on the Commons held in July and August. Wanna be a cowboy? Saddle up for a scenic horseback ride.

And here’s an insider secret: tucked discreetly within Four Seasons is 80 Proof, the resort’s hidden speakeasy (Jackson’s bestkept secret). Slip inside, order a Trapper’s

Pay Old Fashioned, and be wowed by the eccentric mixologist.

But of course, Four Seasons is a yearround kind of place. Here’s how to make the most of fall, winter, and spring as well.

FALL

Fall in Jackson Hole is all about golden aspens and quiet connection. Mornings can begin with a facial at the Four Seasons spa or a Normatec compression session to ease into the day.

For those looking to explore beyond the resort, it's an ideal season for a day trip to Yellowstone. Cooler temps and fewer crowds make it feel like a private tour of America’s most iconic park. Leave early to catch sunrise over Jackson Lake, and stick to the Lower Loop for highlights like Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, and Hayden Valley.

Dinner at Steadfire Chophouse rounds out the evening with a warm, firelit atmosphere. From fresh oysters to a towering porterhouse steak to housemade Valrhona s’mores, it’s a fall feast worth lingering over.

WINTER

Jackson Hole is a true winter wonderland. With snow blanketing every surface, it feels straight out of a snow globe. Four Seasons makes it all easy to enjoy, especially for families. A perfect winter day might include snowmobiling through the Gros Ventre Mountains, followed by a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the National Elk Refuge where wildlife wanders just feet from the trail.

Snowshoe adventures offer a peaceful way to explore the quiet trails, with guides who make it approachable even

for younger kids. Dog sledding through the backcountry is a family favorite, and for guests craving adrenaline, heli-skiing in untouched powder can be arranged through the concierge.

Back at the resort, Four Seasons brings winter comfort to life with après-yoga, hot cocoa in the lobby, and cozy extras like cookie decorating and fireside storytelling for kids.

SPRING

Spring in Jackson Hole is something special. Guests can rent e-bikes and ride along wide, uncrowded trails bordered by wildflowers and melting snow, often feeling like they have the landscape entirely to themselves.

Larger families or groups will appreciate the Four Seasons Granite Residence, a spacious five-bedroom retreat ideal for longer stays or multigenerational travel.

Spring is also ideal to explore Grand Teton National Park. Taking the shuttle across Jenny Lake makes the hike to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point more manageable for young hikers, while still offering all the scenic payoff. For picture-perfect moments, Mormon Row at sunset delivers iconic barn views framed by snow-dusted peaks.  fourseasons.com/jacksonhole

A STYLISH AND SEAMLESS GETAWAY

PERFECT FOR LABOR DAY, FALL BREAK, OR A COASTAL WINTER RESET

PHOTOGRAPHY BY PENDRY NEWPORT

BEACH/VISIT NEWPORT BEACH

Pendry Newport Beach

DAY ONE: CHECK-IN + COASTAL MODE ON

Morning: Arrive and Exhale

Newport Beach has long been a go-to for Arizona families, but with the arrival of Pendry Newport Beach, the familiar escape feels entirely redefined. Just two years young, this modern luxury resort brings a design-forward energy to the iconic coast. Interiors balance California elegance with layered textures, deep forest greens, and nods to art, architecture, and beach culture. It’s sophisticated but unpretentious, an ideal backdrop for family downtime with a grown-up edge.

Check-in is smooth and thoughtful. Spacious suites accommodate families with ease, and touches like stuffies for kids and an area scavenger hunt make things extra special.

Midday: Drop-Off Play + Dockside Exploring

Pendry’s Paintbox is more than a kids club- it’s an immersive play space offering themed activities, crafts, and creative programming for children ages 5–12. Parents can drop off with confidence while children dive into games, hands-on projects, and group fun, all hosted by experienced staff. On weekends, evening sessions extend into the night, making it a standout option for families seeking grown-up dinners or quiet moments. Nearby, Lido Marina Village delivers coastal charm in a walkable, curated setting. For a laid-back lunch, check out Skål Pizza, a clean, modern concept from the creators of Malibu Farm.

Afterward, a stroll along the harbor leads to the Balboa Island Ferry, a quick but charming ride across the water that connects to Balboa Island. Boutique shops, pastel cottages, and nostalgia-forward treats like frozen bananas make the detour more than worth it. (Not to mention the bayside ferris wheel.)

Night: Dinner In, Elevated

Back at The Pendry, dinner at SET Steak & Sushi is a highlight. Designed by Clique Hospitality, the space is equal parts garden oasis and modern steakhouse, with a menu that spans hand-rolled sushi, sashimi, fresh seafood, and premium cuts. The atmosphere is lively but polished, ideal for multi-generational dining without compromising quality or comfort.

After dinner, a quiet walk around the pool deck or a drink at Bar Pendry provides a soft landing to a day filled with movement and ease.

DAY TWO: SALT, SAND + A WILD ENCOUNTER

Morning:

Beach Breakfast with a View

A short drive down the PCH leads to Crystal Cove, one of Southern California’s most scenic

coastal enclaves. Tucked directly on the sand sits The Beachcomber Café, a former cottage-turned-oceanfront restaurant known for its toes-in-the-sand breakfast service and retro charm. Diners enjoy house specialties like cinnamon beignets and chilaquiles while waves break just steps away.

After breakfast, Crystal Cove offers ample space to explore. Tidepools, beach trails, and cliffside paths give families a chance to connect with nature without an agenda.

Midday: The Main Event

For a front-row seat to the Pacific’s wild side, Newport Coastal Adventure delivers one of the region’s most exciting family experiences: a private, high-speed charter that brings guests eye-to-eye with whales, dolphins, and sea lions. In Newport, whale watching is an all season thing, and you’ll likely have hundreds- if not thousands- of common dolphins join your adventure. With private excursions available, families can enjoy an intimate, immersive, exclusive encounter that feels more documentary than a day trip.

Night: Baja-Style Farewell

Dinner at Palmilla Cocina y Tequila is the perfect finale. Located on the Newport Peninsula, the open-air ultra-vibey restaurant features a retractable roof, Baja-inspired decor, and a menu rooted in Sonoran flavors. Grilled street corn, house-made ceviche, and

ELEVATING SPACES: THE CRAFTED QUARTERS APPROACH

HOW DO YOU UNCOVER AND DEFINE MY DESIGN STYLE?

At Crafted Quarters, we prioritize understanding your unique preferences through a tailored process. This includes in-depth conversations, a design questionnaire, and inspiration imagery analysis. The goal is to create a design that reflects your personality while meeting functional needs, resulting in a space that feels both personal and purposeful.

WHAT DOES THE DESIGN PROCESS ENTAIL?

The journey is structured yet flexible, beginning with discovery and concept development. From there, we transition into detailed design, material selection, vendor coordination, and project management. The final stage involves styling and a reveal, ensuring every detail exceeds expectations while keeping the experience seamless and stress-free.

HOW ARE DIVERSE DESIGN PREFERENCES INTEGRATED INTO ONE COHESIVE SPACE?

We specialize in harmonizing different styles by identifying shared elements - such as color palettes, textures, or materials - that unite contrasting tastes. This results in a balanced, cohesive design that celebrates each individual’s preferences while creating a unified aesthetic. This isn’t just about design; it’s about transforming spaces into beautifully functional environments that elevate your everyday living.

BEYOND THE BRUSH

Matting, Maintenance & Mastery

Petbar Arcadia is not your average grooming salon. It’s part spa-part studio, run by owners Brant Michaels and Dustin Carlson, two passionate dog dads who’ve turned their love of pets into a highly personalized, full-service grooming experience.

“There’s a lot more creativity involved than people realize,” Brant says. “Poodles and Bichon Frises, for example, have hair, not fur, which means our

groomers can achieve these amazing, topiary-like cuts. You’re essentially working with a sculptural medium. And with the rise of doodles, we’re seeing more and more of these hybrid coats that let groomers get really artistic.”

But artistry only works when comfort and care are prioritized. That’s where Petbar’s philosophy shines: finding the perfect balance between form and function.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY PETBAR OF PHOENIX/SCOTTSDALE
Brant & Dustin, Owners

“Clients love a beautiful cut,” Dustin adds, “but if their dog’s coat is matted or hasn’t been properly maintained at home, we’re limited in what we can do. That’s why education is such a big part of what we offer.”

Arizona’s climate presents its own challenges. In the summer heat, many pet parents assume a full shavedown will help keep their dogs cool. But not so fast.

“No two dogs are the same,” Dustin says. “A rescue dog may need a different approach than a high-energy puppy or a senior with mobility issues.”

According to the American Kennel Club, regular grooming can reduce doggie anxiety by providing consistent, positive touch and routine, two factors proven to lower stress in dogs. Studies published in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior show that

“Double-coated breeds like Huskies and Golden Retrievers shouldn’t be shaved,” Brant explains. “It actually impairs their ability to regulate body temperature and can damage the coat permanently. We try to walk clients through that, even using our own dog Merlin as an example… he’ll be sunbathing in 110 degrees and loving it.”

Unlike most salons, Petbar offers private grooming studios- walled-off spaces that keep anxious pups calm. The facility also features private drying rooms, gentle airflow fans, floor hooks for larger dogs, and multiple hold rooms so pets never feel rushed.

tactile interaction like brushing and bathing can promote a sense of safety and bonding.

“We’ve had dogs come in completely matted, uncomfortable, barely able to move properly,” Brant shares. “A groom in that case isn’t about vanity, it’s about relieving discomfort and helping the dog feel safe again.”

Petbar Arcadia has earned a loyal following of humans and hounds alike. And they’re just getting started. “We’re hoping to open our second Scottsdale-area location soon.”

The Dream of the American West

From Backyard to Ballpark

How One Kid’s Passion Launched a National Wiffle Craze

What started as a simple pandemic pastime has since grown into quite an exciting amateur sports league… and it all began with a Valley teen.

“Wiffle is simply nostalgic. It’s a kids’ game at heart, and everyone has some backyard memory of playing wiffle,” says Logan Rose, the 20-yearold founder of Big League Wiffle Ball (BLW).

The Phoenix Country Day School alum launched the league in 2020 when he was just 16 determined to bring people together during the isolating days of the pandemic. And this October, Scottsdale Stadium will host the sixth annual Western Wiffle Ball Classic. The Classic is for top-tier wiffle talent from across the country to compete for glory, home run bragging rights, and a place in BLW history. Set for October 18th, the day-long event features both competitive and recreational divisions, a high-energy Home Run Derby, and the kind of backyard-meets-ballpark energy that only wiffle can deliver.

Now a freshman at SMU in Dallas, Logan has grown BLW into a national phenomenon. Last year’s Final Four tournament? Held inside the dome of AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Oh, and fun fact: he’s the son of longtime Valley PR powerhouse Jason Rose (of Rose + Allyn Public Relations), so you could say building buzz runs in the family.

For our Kids Issue, we caught up with Logan to talk origins, what’s next, and why wiffle ball brings the best energy in the game.

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY BIG LEAGUE WIFFLE BALL

WHAT WAS THE FIRST TOURNAMENT LIKE?

It was put together with only a month’s notice and was a huge success. I’ll never forget walking into Scottsdale Stadium and seeing people warm up in awe of what I’d created.

DID YOU EVER IMAGINE IT WOULD GROW THIS BIG?

I always had a vision, especially after our first tournament. Playing at AT&T Stadium? Beyond my wildest dreams.

WHAT’S THE VIBE LIKE AT THE CLASSIC?

We get the best talent in the country and this mix of fun and competition. Last year, teams from over 20 states came out.

FAVORITE MOMENT SO FAR?

Definitely AT&T Stadium; but also, winning my first tournament championship last year with my closest friends and family. We had to hit walk-off home runs against some of the best teams in the country to win. Epic.

Ask Alaine

Real Talk from a Life Coach

Q.

A.

I feel overwhelmed and anxious. I keep waiting for life to slow down so I can finally breathe. When do I get to feel calm and actually happy again?

It starts with this: begin with taking 15 minutes to be anchored where you are and to relax into now.

Not to be productive, not to escape—just to be present.

In the car with your kids. At the table with your partner. Planning your business. No distractions. No multitasking. No fixing.

This is how you rewire the stress response—by choosing connection over chaos. Not fitting into any expectations. We’ve trained ourselves to survive, and now we’re tired. But the calm you’re craving isn’t out there. It’s in the moment you actually live it.

Alaine Nolt is a transformational coach who helps individuals 45+ move from burnout to clarity. Through personalized coaching and lifestyle design, she helps clients reclaim their energy, create meaningful change, and experience more peace and purpose in their lives.

Mention PVCL for a complimentary 30-minute session

WHAT MAKES THIS YEAR’S TOURNAMENT DIFFERENT?

This Classic will kick off our 2025–26 season. I’m excited to meet new talent… we’re expecting even more teams. The competition is wide open.

HOW DOES THE TOURNAMENT WORK? WHO CAN PLAY?

Teams register in either the Recreational or Competitive division. Everyone gets three pool play games, then the top teams advance to a single elimination bracket. Each team has 3–5 players, it’s $120 to enter, and both boys and girls are welcome. No age groups. It’s all about skill and spirit.

WHAT HAS BLW TAUGHT YOU ABOUT LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNITY?

It’s taught me how to take initiative, communicate, and support others. Growing up in Paradise Valley definitely gave me a passion for connection and leading with purpose. We began with eight kids we knew, and it grew from there. If it’s something you love, that passion will take you far.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR BLW?

We’re lining up some amazing events for the season and expanding the professional league. Dream venues? Definitely Fenway, Wrigley, Yankee Stadium.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?

If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll still be running the Big League Wiffle Ball!

ANY FUN LEAGUE TRADITIONS?

Our World Series celebration! We pop apple cider instead of champagne for the winners.

INSIDE KYLER MURRAY'S INAUGURAL CELEBRITY SOFTBALL GAME

(As told by our PVCL Kid Sports Reporter)

We sent our PVCL kid sports reporter, Zaza (Zachary), to cover the inaugural Kyler Murray Foundation Celebrity Softball Game at Salt River Fields. The event brought out top athletes and entertainers, all swinging for a cause.

From one-on-one moments with NFL legends to dugout laughs and game-day highlights, here are a few standout soundbites Zaza caught on the mic.

Larry

Fitzgerald

LF: Easy questions only, right? Nothing that's going to stomp me.

ZA: Sounds good. You're coaching one of the teams today... What's your plan?

LF: I'm going to try and motivate and inspire my team, but the roster seems kinda stacked against us. Do you know how these teams were picked?

ZA: I think Kyler stacked his team and gave you the rest. Who was your favorite coach during your playing career?

LF: I remember all my coaches... they all touched my life.

ZA: Favorite NFL moment?

LF: Getting drafted here, playing in the Super Bowl, and playing among great players and great people.

Cardinals Head Coach

Jonathan Gannon

ZA: Larry's coaching today... any tips for him?

Coach Gannon: I'm sure he'll be the best on the mound. I hope he's aggresive and lets them steal... wave them home!

AJ Andrews, Pro Softball Player & Sports Reporter

ZA: Why are you excited to play in Kyler's tournament?

AJ: I'm one of the only girls playing and it's an opportunity to show that women are just as tough as anyone on the field.

ZA: What's it like being an MLB reporter?

AJ: So fun... I love talking to the players.

ZA: Most memorable career moment?

AJ: I was the first woman to win a Gold Glove- really cool and monumental for women everywhere. I hope to instill in everyone- especially girlsthat impossible is a dare not a declaration and you can go out and do the impossible every day.

Cardinals Head Coach Jonathan Gannon with his son, Nadine Bubeck (PVCL), and young sports reporter Zaza

CeeDee Lamb,

Dallas Cowboys

ZA: What position are you playing for Kyler's tournament?

CeeDee: Centerfield and shortstop.

ZA: Your favorite NFL career moment so far...

CeeDee: The catch I made versus the Vikings my rookie year.

Trey McBride,  Arizona Cardinals

ZA: What's better... scoring a TD or hitting a homer?

TM: Scoring a touchdown, but hitting a home run is good, too.

NBA's Josh Okogie

JO: What's up, Za... I remember you!

ZA: You were one of my first interviews a few years ago, Josh! I'll never forget. It was when you were on the Suns... do you miss playing here?

JO: I miss my friends, but I make friends wherever I go.

ZA: Do you plan on hitting a bomb like Booker did on Instagram?

JO: Absolutely.

CHIP LEIGHTON: FROM CUBICLE TO COMEDY KINGPIN

THE DAD BEHIND THE TEXTS THAT BROKE THE INTERNET… AND THE BATHROOM BOOKSHELF

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

Chip Leighton never set out to be famous. He wasn’t trying to become a TikTok sensation or a New York Times bestselling author. He just started sharing real text messages from his teenagers, and the internet couldn’t get enough.

“I had 17 followers after six months,” he laughs. But then came a single post about marriage… followed by a teenage text… and just like that: “Boom.”

Chip left behind his corporate life after 25 years in marketing and strategy. His resume now includes: author, speaker, creator of The Leighton Show, and guy whose teenage daughter lovingly calls him an ‘unemployed, middle-aged TikToker.’

“This is my gig,” he says.

With revenue from books, merch, brand deals, speaking gigs, and cameos, he’s created the perfect career bridge into retirement.

“I focus on quality, not quantity,” he says. “When people see my content, they know it’s going to be good.”

That approach has built a loyal, engaged following of 1.6 million+ and more than 300 million video views.

Fans send him new material every day... DMs full of ridiculous, sincere, and accidentally brilliant messages from their teens, tweens, and spouses.

Like these:

“Did Grandma have kids?”

“I tried this new cologne… brand is called Tester.”

“Don’t clap at graduation. Or scream. Actually, don’t come.”

“Was my job at Taco Bell government or non-government?”

“Can I use a Christmas stamp to mail something in July?”

“Can I leave a parking space before the meter runs out?”

“Do I put the bear spray on before hiking, or just if I see a bear?”

“Chicken broth… it’s not the sweat of the chicken, right?”

“How does eating cold turkey help you quit smoking?”

What started as a quiet hobby in Maine turned into sold-out live shows. After connecting with comedian Caroline Rhea, Chip hit the stage with a digital screen and dad-style delivery.

“I always thought this would work live,” he says.

His calendar has become packed doing live shows at college parent weekends, fundraisers, and comedy nights.

“I’m not trying to shame anyone. I’m celebrating teen humor.”

Speaking of teen humor, Chip decided to package his favorite texts in a best-seller: What Time Is Noon? The book is a curated collection of entertaining real-life texts, turned into a coffee table (or toilet tank) staple.

“Yes, people tell me they keep it in the bathroom. I take it as a compliment.”

It’s also available as an audiobook, narrated by Chip himself, and includes bonus lists you won’t want to miss like: “Things I Apologize to My Teenagers For” and “Things I Don’t Recommend if You Have Teenagers.”

The next chapter? A new book filled with real dad stories from snack fails to driveway disasters.

Here’s a taste of what’s inside: One dad accidentally ate an entire bowl of Thousand Island dressing, thinking it was soup. Another unknowingly snacked on shellacked animal crackers that were meant to be Christmas ornaments. And then there’s Chip himself who managed to rip his swim trunks mid-obstacle course at a pool party. (LOL)

With Chip, every scroll feels like a well-earned smirk. His posts are part confession, part comic relief, and all a reminder that we’re just winging it through the wild adventure of tween and teen parenting.
