LIFESTYLE LETTER
For many of us, this time of year is full of excitement. It presents us with a reset, new horizons and goals to pursue. But for others, January can be a reminder of failed or unfinished attempts from years past and the burden of expectation that 2025 will be different.
We approached this edition of the magazine from a mindset of not supplying quick fixes to check boxes in the short term, but valuing efforts that are sustainable over the long haul. We wanted to provide inspiration for making lasting, realistic, long-term improvements to everyone's physical, emotional and mental health.
On a truly personal level, let’s manifest good health with your besties on Galentine’s Day, Thursday, Feb. 13, from 7-9 p.m. Join us for a wellness experience you’ll never forget as co-hosted by Newtown City Lifestyle and barre3. The event will be held at the studio, 43 Summit Square Shopping Center, Ste. 103. Bring a friend or several! Health-related professional Colleen Faltot, Somatic Energy coach, will share advice and real tools to tackle stress and unlock our calm, powerful selves. To register for this amazing event, check social media for the magazine and barre3.
When it comes to anything in life, including business, finances, food, home and personal health, it’s not what you do some days that moves the needle. It’s what you do MOST days. For better or worse! It’s not the sometimes choices we make, it’s the most of the time choices that will punctuate this new year.
And, it’s what you choose to do most days that can lead to a more peaceful, filling and fabulous year.
Here’s to you! We’re rooting for you.

At barre3, movement is not just an activity; it’s a mindset.
Members are challenged to turn off autopilot and be fully present in their bodies during class.
“Our instructors are trained in a way to cue our clients to not just ‘perform’ a movement, but to be tuned in, aware, and feeling all the sensations,” explains barre3 Newtown owner/operator Lauren Ziel. “When we're tuned in, we can explore deeper and grow our body strength and wisdom.”
With that goal in mind, the barre3 team is adding a new class to the docket in 2025. Alongside their signature, strength and cardio classes, the studio now will offer b3 Mindful Flow 45.
“B3 Mindful Flow 45 is our ‘active’ approach to restorative and mobility-based programming, unique to the barre3 brand,” says Lauren. “Through its combination of breath-driven movement, considerate cueing, and accessible sequencing, the goal of this class is to increase functional mobility, flexibility and stability in our clients.”
Like all barre3 programming, the new class focuses on “full-body, functional movement,” she says. Participants aren’t striving for perfection, but for growth.
“When we take on challenges and push through the hard stuff, we grow stronger and we feel proud of ourselves for committing and not giving up, and that's the best feeling of all," she says.
The new class debuts in conjunction with the 2025 Commitment to Self program designed to help members build a sustainable foundation for healthy habits.

“When messages like ‘New Year, New You’ fill the space, we want to remind our clients: They're always exactly where they need to be, wherever they are,” Lauren says. “Instead of change for change’s sake alone, we're focused on growth, aligning our actions with how we want to show up in the world.”
The studio is offering a number of deals as the new year kicks off to encourage people to stop waiting for the “right time” and get started on meeting their goals one class at a time. Through early February, new members can get 50 percent off their first month of membership with a threemonth commitment.
Additionally, Lauren says those not ready for a membership can take their first barre3 class for free. The studio also offers new clients a two-week special with unlimited access to classes over 14 days, making it easy for the uninitiated to try a variety of classes.
“I always like to remind our clients, especially women who tend to give to others before themselves: You can't pour from an empty cup,” Lauren explains. “Make time and take time for you. It will make you a better mom, wife, sister, friend, employee or boss. However you show up for others, you'll do it better when you show up for yourself as well.”
After 11-plus years in business, Lauren is still blown away by the community that has flourished at barre3.
“Instead of change for change’s sake alone, we're focused on growth.” — Lauren Ziel, barre3 Newtown
“We try to keep it simple and not overwhelm anyone with too many choices and big decisions,” she adds. “We have enough of that in other areas of life.”
Barre3 classes and their focus on mindfulness encourage people to reframe restrictive views of movement and instead view it as a gift to both the mind and body.
“We're here for the new friendships and the celebrations, we come together through illness and loss, and we're truly stronger together,” she says. “In a divisive world where we struggle with so much in our daily lives, we meet at barre3 in unity and peace to be reminded that we are more alike than different.”
Invitation To Readers: On Feb. 13 from 7-9 p.m., Newtown City Lifestyle and barre3 will co-host a Galentine’s Health Expo. Located at the barre3 studio, 43 Summit Square Center, the event will feature somatic energy coach Colleen Faltot as a guest speaker, and will focus on helping attendees shed stress and embrace their power and more at-peace selves.

As new members of the Newtown business community, Oil Divine specialists create products with a distinct motto in mind: do good, feel good, look great.
With a focus on clean, organic ingredients, Oil Divine's team is dedicated to helping people achieve healthy skin with the simplest formulas possible from their retail space at 2859 S. Eagle Road.
“We’re committed to avoiding harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances and other harmful ingredients as much as possible, because we know they can disrupt our bodies, hormones and overall health,” says Oil Divine's marketing director Daniela Romero.
Oil Divine Launches In Newtown To Provide Organic, Safe, Ethical and Planet-Friendly Products
This sustainability-driven company was born when founder Snezhana Bogatin experienced heightened sensitivity to smells while pregnant with her son. She wanted to cultivate a wellness routine that would be healthy for both of them, so she says she set out to make skin care components with all-natural, plant-based ingredients.
Three years later, the business is partnering with a wide range of spas, and opened its first brick and mortar store in Newtown. Their products range from skin care, body care, aromatherapy, personal hygiene, teas, spices, supplements and 'all-things self-care.'
“We believe it's really important to start taking care of your skin early, so you can build good habits that stick with you into adulthood,” Daniela asserts. “Our store has products specifically for teens, designed to address common issues like acne, hormonal breakouts, texture concerns, discoloration and dry skin, as well as skin
care catering to oily, dry, mature and combination skin."
Oil Divine offers skin care, hair care, supplements and chocolate bars based on Ayurveda, a form of ancient medicine practiced in India as long as 5,000 years ago.
“Ayurveda focuses on balancing the mind, body and spirit to promote
overall well-being and prevent illnesses,” Snezhana explains. “Ayurvedic products are typically made from a combination of herbs, minerals and other natural ingredients.”
Snezhana adds they now also work with other like-minded brands whose teams have the same high standards, so customers can secure elevated self-care and wellness experiences.
Oil Divine also has clean equivalents for all the self-care essentials. Daniela recommends their cleansing oil for removing dirt, oil and other buildup from the skin, as well as their rejuvenating eye serum to combat fine lines. Their dark spot corrector is packed with Vitamin C to help with hyperpigmentation and acne scars, and their Bakuchiol oil offers a natural alternative to retinol.
“It has all the anti-aging benefits of retinol without the irritation, peeling or redness, while helping with fine lines, wrinkles and overall skin texture and promoting an even skin tone,” she says.
For the body, their jasmine, rose or fragrance-free body oils can be used after the shower “to lock in moisture and leave your skin feeling soft, hydrated and glowing,” Daniela states.
The store also carries what the team calls “products for the soul,” such as aromatherapy tools and essential oils.
“Starting your new year with a refreshed, glowing routine is the best way to kick off your self-care journey,” Daniela says.
Snezhana says Oil Divine products also are healthy for the planet: "They're made in small batches in Pennsylvania and are cruelty-free and vegan. We minimize the use of plastic whenever possible, opting for glass containers for products and recyclable materials for shipping."
She says the Oil Divine team looks forward to being a resource for the community’s skin care needs.
“We want customers to know we’re not just about selling products; we care about the impact we’re having on their skin care routine and their self-care journey,” Snezhana says. “Every product we create is made with intention and love, and we’re here to build a lasting relationship with each of our customers.”
She adds, “We’re really proud of where we are today, and we’re excited to keep growing with our community."

"Your health is your greatest wealth," proclaims Michael Como, CRNP, FNP, MSN, and practice owner of Primary Prevention Center at 638 Newtown-Yardley Road, Ste. 2G.
"Change is hard, but it's also a constant in our lives. Some changes uplift us, while others may not serve our best interests. So, what type of change do you want for your life and wellness?
Whether it's through improved diet, exercise or effective stress management, we offer a wide range of services designed to help patients stay healthy or regain their health. We understand everyone's health impacts their happiness and overall joy."
Throughout his nursing career, Mike says he's worked in operating rooms, emergency rooms and the addiction/ recovery field. He adds he and his skilled team members benefit patients of various ages who face challenges with pain, mobility or stress, or those who've completed physical therapy and need a supportive environment to continue their progress via personalized exercise plans.
Primary Prevention Center Professionals In Newtown Assist With Customized Lifestyle Modifications

The center's services span a thorough range of treatments, including dietary consultation/planning; exercise education; IV vitamin therapies; focused stretching/pliability; cooking workshops; massage therapies; autoimmune disease care; body mass indexing/body fat percentage calculations; meal planning; stress management techniques; professional burnout recovery; cholesterol management; constipation remedies; diabetes management; hypertension control; irritable bowel syndrome relief; insomnia help; yoga/meditation techniques; and acupuncture services.
Indicating their services incorporate evidence-based "lifestyle medicine," they harness comprehensive strategies for each person's circumstances. "We believe the three main drivers of our health are what we put in our bodies, absence of substantial movement, and lack of managing stress. In fact, we Americans almost wear stress like a badge of honor," Mike adds.
The first step to working with the Primary Prevention Center specialists is to have a consultation at which related historical factors are discussed, such as medical issues and why each patient would like to start when they do.
Next, patients are referred to the center's smallgroup exercise program to try out four classes with exercise physiologist Kelly Bradley. Mike says each group has no more than seven participants, so it's akin to having a personal trainer.
Lastly, Mike says they like to impart helpful information for new daily practices, really as much knowledge as possible or relevant, from the center's registered dietitian Natalie Koch; acupuncturists Brittney Olin and Sophia Simon; yoga instructor Susan Cohen; licensed massage therapist Olga Lyons; chef Alyssa Termini; and pharmacist Victoria Collazo.
"Patients come to us directly, or by physician referrals. We're credentialed on just about every major insurance company, and many insurance plans cover visits to a registered dietitian with no co-pays as part of their preventive care initiatives, particularly for at-risk individuals," shares Mike, adding these visits are critical for proper nutritional assessments and counseling.
Center sessions can be scheduled Mondays through Fridays, and Saturdays by appointment.
"We understand challenges, so we coach patients with expertise and guidance to put them in the best positions to succeed," assures Mike.

ADVICE EDITORIAL: FIVE SELF-CARE TIPS BEYOND CONNECTING WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS
Just 30 minutes of walking every day can boost moods and improve health. Small amounts of exercise add up, so don’t be discouraged if 30 minutes can't be all at one time.
Stick to a schedule and try to get 7-9 hours of sleep for each 24-hour period. Reduce blue light exposure from phones or computers before bedtime.
Decide what must get done now and what can wait. Learn to say “no” to new tasks if starting to feel as though you’re taking on too much. At each day's end, practice appreciating what was accomplished, no matter if small or large task.
Explore relaxation/wellness programs or apps. Incorporate meditation, muscle relaxation or breathing exercises. Listen to music, read, spend time in nature and engage in low-stress hobbies.
Remind yourself daily of things for which to be grateful. Be specific. Write them down or replay them in your mind. Challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts that creep in.
