The best home cut fries I have had to date. The fries speak for themselves!

2. Sea monkey

These fries are perfectly golden with a crispy outside. Perfect amount of fry on the inside and melts in your mouth. Topped with flaky salt.

3. The Pub at Mercato

Thicker cut of a fry which I prefer. Fluffy inside which was a pleasant surprise! Served very hot and fresh!

4. The French

More traditional look of a French fry. Good amount of salt. Visually appealing. I call this a fry that you can’t go wrong with!

5. The Claw Bar

A thinner cut of a fry with bursts of flavor. Great season, and color. I’m not a fan of shoestring-like fries, but this shocked me…in a good way!

CLN August Events

A little rain (okay, maybe a lot of rain) didn’t stop us from having a fantastic time at The Kitchen for our August issue launch party.  The August issue featured the pet owners of Naples, with lots of support for the Humane Society and Collier County Domestic Animal Services.  DJ Jimmie Espo was spinning tunes and I Shine Forever Chains offered beautiful permanent jewelry for guests to enjoy.  We thank The Kitchen, as always, for providing a beautiful backdrop to our evening.

A Hidden Gem in Hull Bay

THE HIDEAWAY AND THE SHACK

AT HULL BAY, ST. THOMAS

ARTICLE BY CITY LIFESTYLE NAPLES

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

Nestled in the picturesque Hull Bay of St. Thomas, The Hideaway and its adjoining eatery, The Shack, offer an unparalleled escape that marries Caribbean charm with top-notch hospitality.  This hidden gem has quickly established itself as a premier destination for relaxation, exceptional culinary experiences, special events, and weddings, making it a must-visit for those seeking the perfect island getaway. Did we mention, you don’t even need a passport if you’re a US citizen!

Upon arriving at The Hideaway, guests are immediately struck by the estate's lush, manicured surroundings. With 2 beachfront villas and 8 cottages varying in size, there is a place here for all travelers. A recently departed guest, Christy M, left a raving review at her departure: “Once you arrive at the Hideaway, nothing really matters anymore. You're surrounded by gorgeous plants, tree cover in the hot heat, beautiful garden-like pathways and a wonderfully perfect pool near their small cottages.” The attention to detail extends throughout the property, providing a serene and inviting atmosphere that feels both luxurious and homey.

One of the most cherished aspects of staying at The Hideaway is the opportunity to unwind in all of the hidden nooks on the property. “I was a sucker for the hammocks on our porch,” one guest shared. “I’d sit in them reading a book while watching the sun fade into the postcard setting, with the music and The Shack coming to life next door. It was my favorite part of the day.” These tranquil moments are a testament to the estate’s ability to offer relaxation and rejuvenation amidst stunning natural beauty.

Dining at The Hideaway is an experience in itself, particularly highlighted by their weekly Taste of The Farm dinner. This dining experience is curated based on what the culinary team is harvesting at Hideaway Farm each season. Using ingredients that grow on-site, allows guests an unparalleled opportunity they won’t find at other restaurants on the island. “Taste of the Farm dinner is absolutely worth it! Service is friendly, efficient, and goes the extra mile. The food is delicious and beautifully presented…The cocktails were beautifully crafted, refreshing, and tasty!” says Michèle B. This bespoke dining experience not only delights the palate but also celebrates the estate’s commitment to fresh, local ingredients and sustainable farming.

The allure of The Hideaway extends beyond the estate itself. The proximity to the beach, combined with the convenience of the villa and cottage amenities—including a pool and air conditioning—creates a perfect setting for both adults and children. One visitor noted, “You’re steps from the beach, and the proximity to the Villas, pool, and The Shack makes for a pleasant beach experience for everyone.” The ease of access and the thoughtful design of the estate ensure that guests can fully enjoy the beauty of the bay and its surrounding attractions.

While The Hideaway offers a sanctuary of comfort, it also serves as a convenient base for exploring St. Thomas. Guests who ventured beyond the estate appreciated the varied experiences the island has to offer. “We took a day catamaran trip to St. John, enjoyed tacos at Lime Out, a floating restaurant, and snorkeled in the bluest water in Lameshur Bay,”

“Once you arrive at the Hideaway, nothing really matters anymore.
You’re surrounded by gorgeous plants, tree cover in the hot heat, beautiful garden-like pathways and a wonderfully perfect pool near their small cottages.”

one traveler recounted. They also highlighted their visit to Magens Bay Beach and a memorable sunset dinner at Fish Bar, underscoring the diverse culinary and natural experiences available nearby.

Despite these explorations, The Hideaway remains a standout choice. “Not only would I recommend it, I plan on being back with friends before the end of the year,” another guest declared. “The Hideaway is the perfect non-hotel vacation, but with the hospitality of a 5-star resort. It’s like an Airbnb with expert staff. It’s laid back, it’s a vibe.” This sentiment reflects the unique blend of comfort and personalized service that sets The Hideaway apart. The Shack, their fast, casual beach bar right next door, enhances the overall experience. A guest fondly remembered their Saturday night there: “The Shack, the sunset, the live band, great food, and our fun family—it was a perfect night.” The Shack’s vibrant atmosphere, paired with its delightful food and live entertainment, provides a fitting complement to The Hideaway’s tranquil setting.

In terms of service, The Hideaway excels with a team that is consistently praised for

their kindness and mindfulness to create an unforgettable experience. “The staff was excellent, outstanding, kind, and attentive,” one guest affirmed, highlighting the exceptional service that contributes to a memorable stay.

Overall, The Hideaway and The Shack at Hull Bay represent more than just a vacation spot—they are a destination where guests feel a sense of familiarity which can be attributed to the comfortability of the estate. “This is our 3rd year as a family and I doubt we will stay anywhere else after discovering the absolute most peaceful, clean, carefree jungle beach hidden gem you could ever dream of,” said Angela T, a recent guest. With its beautiful common areas, natural beauty, and impeccable service, The Hideaway is ideal for family gatherings, destination weddings, solo travel, and so much more!

The Hideaway and The Shack offer an enchanting blend of relaxation, exquisite dining, and personal touch, making them St. Thomas’ standout destination for anyone seeking a memorable Caribbean escape.

“This is our 3rd year as a family and I doubt we will stay anywhere else after discovering the absolute most peaceful, clean, carefree jungle beach hidden gem you could ever dream of,” said Angela T, a recent guest.

NOLITA AT THE RITZ-CARLTON NAPLES

ARTICLE BY CITY LIFESTYLE NAPLES

PHOTOGRAPHY BY SAMANTHA BLOOM

Drawing inspiration from its namesake neighborhood in New York, Nolita features artisan pastas made in-house from 00 durum wheat and semolina, as well as handtossed pizzas and a menu of familiar Italian classics influenced by family recipes. "Like the Nolita neighborhood in Manhattan, Nolita has a wonderful, casual vibe. Our menu reflects the recipes of blended families and traditions, where dishes featuring red sauce sit on the table alongside white wine sauce. Those old conventions

do not apply," Executive Chef Satish Yerramilli explains. "And the pizzas… everyone has an opinion about the perfect crust, but the pizza at Nolita is a must."

Located on the Beach Level of The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, Nolita joins recent additions Sofra, Moka, and the Lobby Bar. Inspired by the shared plates of the Eastern Mediterranean, Sofra features a vegetable forward menu highlighting the coastal flavors of Turkey, Greece, Israel, and Jordan. Moka, influenced by bustling

Italian cafes, presents delightful coffee drinks curated by a third-generation roasting family. The Lobby Bar, steeped in tradition, offers a Master Sommelier-curated menu of Champagnes and wines, expertly paired with light bites crafted by Executive Chef Satish Yerramilli.

Nolita is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with reservations available for dinner service at www.NolitaNaples.com or +1 (239) 598-3300.

CHEF Betulia RAISES The STEAKS

ARTICLE BY CITY LIFESTYLE NAPLES PHOTOGRAPHY BY SAMANTHA BLOOM

Chef Vincenzo Betulia has “raised the steaks” of The French Brasserie on Naples’ 5th Avenue South with menu and décor changes inspired by his wildly successful Rouge speakeasy, which he opened in August of 2023 in a secluded dining area of The French. Rouge has also contributed to the achievement of The French’s new, prestigious wine award from Wine Spectator magazine.

“When I conceived of Rouge, I envisioned an intimate, clandestine speakeasy focused on the finest quality steaks and rare wines in a lush, romantic setting,” said chef-owner Vincenzo Betulia. Rouge was an instant hit and won the “Best New Restaurant” award in  Naples Illustrated magazine’s January 2024 dining issue.

Aspects of the Rouge experience can now be enjoyed at The French. Chef Vincenzo says he has “raised the steaks” at The French with menu additions such as a 12-ounce Australian Wagyu New York Strip #5 with Bearnaise sauce; eight-ounce Carrera Farms prime filet mignon (Australia) with pommes mousseline, crispy fried shallots and Sauce au Poivre, and a 12-ounce Bavette steak that Chef Vincenzo describes as “a butcher-cut steak with flavor that will blow your mind,” served with green beans, shallots and roasted potato.  The steaks are grilled over Floridian white oak coals.

The French’s current menu favorites include traditional starters ranging from escargot de Bourgogne to beef tartare to Le Mac Cheese with gruyere cheese, chives and duck leg confit, and many other beloved brasserie classics such as lamb loin persillade; prized ora king salmon; Mediterranean Dover sole; poulet roti forestiere; soup l’oignon, and steak frites. The popular Sunday brunch, with jazz entertainment October thru June, serves the restaurant’s signature avocado toast with smoked salmon, buckwheat crepe with ham and gruyere, and omelettes of diners’ choices.

“The wine at The French is as seductive as the food,” said Chef Vincenzo, who emphasized that Rouge helped drive the success of The French’s wine program. “When we introduced the rich steaks at Rouge, we offered rare Bordeaux, Burgundy, and other French, Italian, and domestic wines such as Lafite, Romanee Conti, Solaia, and Opus One, all now available at The French.”

Rouge-inspired interior design elements added to The French include elegant red velvet draperies framing arched indoor and outdoor dining room windows, garlands of flowers and greenery, and crisp white linen tablecloths at dinner.

Simultaneous to The French’s Rougeinspired expansion of menu and décor is winning  Wine Spectator ’s coveted “Best of Award of Excellence,” earned by restaurants that “are destinations for serious wine lovers, showing a deep commitment to wine, both in the cellar and through their service team,” according to  Wine Spectator. There are only 993 “Best of Award of Excellence” winners in the United States.

Upon winning the award, the seven-year-old French Brasserie was singled out as one of “13 Rising Star Wine Restaurants for 2024” in a July 2024 article in the Wine Spectator, written by editor Collin Dreizen.

“My team and I are honored to receive this national recognition,” comments Chef Vincenzo. “Marcello Palazzi, our director of operations and beverage director, and Alain Rabault, our general manager and sommelier, deserve accolades for growing the wine list with older, vertical vintages, strong Bordeaux selections and more than 375 labels."

DANI PAPA

“Having exhibited during Art Basel Miami Beach for two consecutive years, Dani Papa’s urban tribal style and aesthetic began to catch attention.”

Dani Papa is a local artist, educator, and mentor who has made considerable waves in our community. After serving as a high school art teacher for nearly a decade, Dani has accumulated significant accolades in his field. Having set his sights on graduate school at Savannah College of Art & Design four years ago, Dani is at the tail end of his degree program and ready to share his final thesis exhibit with Naples. Measuring at 30-feet long, Papa’s final work will be one giant painting depicting the 12 Greek Gods on their thrones, as if viewers were walking into Mount Olympus. Each god will represent an aspect of Dani’s personality, collectively signifying his identity.

Dani owes his emerging artist career to his thriving exhibition record and steadfast commitment toward education and community. Having exhibited during Art Basel Miami Beach for two consecutive years, Dani Papa’s urban tribal style and aesthetic began to catch attention. Last year, Dani had the opportunity to exhibit five of his live painting performance artworks in SOHO, New York where his spontaneous use of color and bold mark-making dazzled viewers. Recently, Dani embarked on his first international exhibition in Athens, Greece where his “Three Graces” graced a contemporary Grecian gallery. While aboard, he made visits to ancient sites, conducted primary research for his thesis studies, and connected with his Greek family, learning about his lineage. Follow Dani Papa on Instagram @papanikolaou.dani or peruse his website www.danipapa.com and subscribe to the tribe. Be sure to stay tuned for Papa’s final thesis exhibition coming this Fall season.

Luara Máximo has always looked at the world through a different lens. Different than most people, to be sure, but more importantly, through a lens of differentiation as a point of celebration and impact. As a first-generation Brazilian-American, the intersection of culture and hybridization of concepts is in her very DNA. Forever Fiore is the embodiment of her soul — an ethos unto itself, equal parts an expression of artistic passion and a crossroads of human connection. Long-inspired by the natural beauty and elegance of flowers in nature, the Tea Lounge-meets-Floral Boutique has brought to Naples a truly remarkable business concept: embracing the value of traditional restaurants with contemporary finesse, as a place to restore the mind, body, and spirit, while simultaneously challenging the very nature of luxury and transforming it from exclusive caché to everyday celebration. Forever Fiore’s mission has always been to deliver elevated experiences in all aspects of life, to be a facilitator of fulfillment and to curate moments which extend through and into lifelong memories. She regularly hosts business networking events for locally-owned businesses of all industries, and has established the Tea Lounge as a focal point for the next generation of business development in downtown Naples.

SER VI NG UP SOUP

Fall’s most notable comfort meal

CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP

This hearty chicken noodle soup is the perfect comfort food that is packed with nutritious goodness. This pairs perfectly with homemade beer bread or a sourdough loaf.

INGREDIENTS:

• 8 cups chicken broth (add more if desired)

• Whole fryer chicken, cut in chunks or shredded

• 5 celery stalks, sliced

• 8 carrots, sliced

• ½ onion diced

• 4 tablespoons butter

• 1 teaspoon italian seasoning

• ¼ cup half and half (optional)

• 1 package egg noodles

• Salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS:

In a large stock pot, add 8 cups of chicken broth. Dice carrots, celery and onion and add to the broth. Bring to a boil, and reduce to medium heat until the vegetables are soft. In the meantime, skin and cube 1 whole fryer chicken and add to the stock pot. Next, add egg noodles (frozen Reames homemade egg noodles are my favorite) and let boil until noodles are cooked. Add butter, half and half, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Simmer on low until ready to serve.
