It’s fun getting a sneak peek. A little preview of what’s to come. That’s why I always love our annual fall fashion shoot. Jean trends, boot styles, the “it” jacket … I like seeing what we’ll all be rocking when the leaves start to fall. Some cuts and patterns carry over from the previous year, while others are new. Thank you, Alley Boutique and Mainstream Boutique, for putting together such fantastic outfits. Also thank you to our beautiful models, Rahma and Courtney, and our shoot location The 1859 ... what a truly lovely space.
As always, we like to offer home trend sneak peeks as well. Thank you, Sarah Nicole Redesign, Cincinnati EntryPoint, Bath Inspirations, and Finer Lawn & Landscaping for sharing your knowledge and expertise with our readers. My house goals list just doubled.
And if you haven’t checked out 7 Threads Embroidery yet make sure you read It’s Sew You. You’ll get an idea, a sample of her work, and insight into her full capabilities. I hope you enjoyed my letter and got a nice issue sneak peek. There’s a lot of great things to come as you flip through this month’s magazine.

Curb appeal is the first impression your home offers to guests, neighbors, and passersby. The most influential factor in curb appeal is your front door, so why not make sure it has style that lasts through the seasons? Family-owned, local businesses Cincinnati EntryPoint and Queen City Porch Design showcase three area doors—ready to greet visitors for fall, and inspire you to give your home’s exterior a well-deserved makeover.
Decor: These
Cincinnati EntryPoint doors are custom-built in Mason from low-maintenance fiberglass. Unlike wood, which can expand, contract, bow, and crack over time, or steel, which can dent and eventually rust, fiberglass gives homeowners the best of both worlds—durability and energy efficiency with the option of a smooth or woodgrain finish that beautifully mimics real wood.
Cincinnati EntryPoint’s Cody Carden explains, “We’ve seen a rise in gridded glass, especially for homeowners who are drawn to the classic farmhouse look. Our simulated divided sidelites give the charm of individual panes while keeping the energy efficiency of a single glass panel.” Many also prefer clear or textured glass for a minimal, modern aesthetic. For others, transitional decorative glass patterns are popular—adding personality and privacy while still letting in light and a glimpse outside.
At Cincinnati EntryPoint’s showroom in Mason, it’s easy to choose the perfect door to fit your home’s aesthetic. Appointments ensure customers meet with an expert who can guide them through design choices, answer questions, and provide a free quote. Seeing full-size examples in-person builds confidence in your selections—so you leave knowing exactly what you’re getting.
You also won’t experience the dreaded hard sell. “Unlike companies that use pressure tactics or ‘buy today’ discounts, we recommend taking your time to make the right choice,” Cody shares. “Since we buy materials in bulk and build everything in house, we’re able to offer great value every day.”

Looking for personal style with staying power? For millennia, people have turned to embroidery—decorating fabric with needle and thread as a way to show what’s important in their lives ... from medieval tapestries depicting great battles to 19th-century samplers demonstrating a young lady’s needlework skills. An embroidered piece is a sign stitched in time to mark what matters.
It’s probably why Liz Speidel has seen business bursting at the seams at 7 Threads Embroidery, which moved last November from the Loveland Artist Studios on Main into a retail space at the back of Curated Fine Furnishings & Design.
While embroidery’s appeal may be timeless, 7 Threads—named for the size of Liz’s immediate family—is far from old-fashioned. Don’t picture a scene from Pride and Prejudice, with women stitching away in empire-waist dresses. Liz has five state-of-the-art embroidery machines to do the work, but, to her, they’re more than machines. They’re more like “friends.” Yes, that Friends.
“I have all Brother embroidery machines,” says Liz. “And they each have a very unique name and personality.”
There’s Phoebe. Then, Ursula (Pheobe’s evil twin sister). Plus Pheobo, Regina Phalange, and Princess Consuela. Each machine has a little nameplate behind them.
These “friends” have been busy embroidering names on shirt collars, monogramming totes, and helping customers celebrate brides, holidays, kids, even pickleball. Liz, who also runs a 7 Threads Etsy shop, cherishes the interactions and energy that come with running a brick-and-mortar store.
“For me, it’s really enjoyable to pick the colors with a customer,” says Liz. “Someone will say, ‘Oh, I think I want a light pink’ and then they realize there are 50 light pinks. People’s eyes kind of light up when they get the exact color that they want.”
Seemingly endless thread color is just the beginning of personalization at 7 Threads, where style can mean adding a dash of sass. You can gift a “Not a Louis” tote, wear a Griswold holiday sweatshirt, or declare wine and Diet Coke as your true loves on Valentine’s Day. Customers bring in their own ideas, too, including handwritten notes, which Liz’s machines can turn into truly signature gifts.

This past summer, personalization had an East Coast, beachy feel, inspired by the popular “Coastal Grandmother” and “Italian Girl Summer” trends. Icons are a big part of the look. Liz and her staff have stitched their share of cocktails, tomatoes, fish, and even sardines onto a variety of items—and she doesn’t see the trend going away anytime soon. Heading into cooler weather, she expects to see fisherman sweaters and a “more cozy aesthetic.”
Not all of us can go to the Hamptons or rent an Italian villa for the summer. However, at 7 Threads, you can spend as little as $15 on a monogram or up to $58 for a sweatshirt and look like you just got back from Montauk.
So, whether you’re searching for that one-of-a-kind gift, or you want to make a fashion statement that won’t break the bank, 7 Threads has it all sewn up for you. Just look for the slate-colored door across from Cappy’s, or walk to the back of Curated to find the small, bright shop with lots of embroidery samples ... and an expert staff ready to help.
When you stop by, don’t feel guilty if you’ve never picked up a needle and thread. Liz doesn’t have the patience for hand-stitched embroidery, either. After all, she has her “friends” for that.
Local Lawn Specialist Helping Neighbors Enjoy Next-Level Entertainment at Home

For one local family, a complete reimagining of their backyard has resulted in nothing short of a recreational entertainment masterpiece.
Annie and Robb Rosen began with what they call “pretty ambitious” plans to invest in their existing backyard. “We wanted to have a backyard that we could enjoy year-round,” Annie says. “We have always been an outdoor family, and we love playing games. We wanted to create a space that would be enjoyable for our kids and their friends.”
“I love the pool, I love the entire setup of this backyard, because there was so much to do! We maximized every bit of space.” - Donnie
Ambitious, indeed. Their plans included installation of a 20' x 44' swimming pool with custom waterfall, bench seats at each end, and an ability to take things up a notch with a volleyball net and basketball hoops.
The problem was, they weren’t sure how to pull it off. Then they met Donnie.
Donnie Powell of Finer Lawn & Landscaping knows a thing or two about turning ho-hum patio spaces into ultimate backyard setups. From hardscapes to landscapes, pergolas to pavers, and drainage to driveways, he’s been helping families in Greater Cincinnati make the most of their existing spaces for more than 20 years.
“The work that I do improves home values and creates places for families to enjoy for many, many
years,” he says. “And that’s what I like most about what I do—creating a space for families to come together, so that they can enjoy spending time together.”
Some jobs are bigger than others, of course. Once work began on the Rosens’ yard, they decided to additionally add a Sport Court, where the family could play basketball, pickleball, badminton, and volleyball ... day or night. The space also benefited from multitiered paver areas around the pool, artificial turf, landscaping, and fencing.
The results were unanimously declared a huge success, and the project even elevated curb appeal by completely changing the property’s entire look and feel. Of course, it also impacts home value.
“Some of my favorite things about taking on this project were just the scope of it,” Donnie says. “The pool itself is huge, and has a lot of neat elements to it. The pavers are built on a concrete base, which makes it a very low-maintenance space for the homeowner, and the Sport Court is an incredible space that this active family can use for many, many years to come.”
The Rosens report being pleased that Finer Lawn & Landscaping was also excited about their vision, and allowed them flexibility to make changes as the project progressed. “Summers are so hot and humid in Cincinnati,” Annie says. “And now we love being outside, because the option to cool off is right in our yard.”
The best endorsement they can offer might come in the form of advice Annie has for other homeowners who are interested in tackling a similar project. “Hire someone you get along with,” she says, “because there will be a lot of interactions necessary throughout the project.”
It’s all in a day’s work for Donnie and the rest of his Finer Lawn & Landscaping team.
“This was a fun project to do for a family that is active ... that loves the outdoors and loves sports,” Donnie adds. “The customers were great to work for, and I will always be thankful to have worked with them on this project.”
“I love the pool, I love the entire setup of this backyard, because there was so much to do! We maximized every bit of space.”

ARTICLE BY LISA FLETCHER | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY SARAH NICOLE REDESIGN
When it comes to cozy, character-filled interiors with a modern twist, Sarah Nicole Redesign knows how to make a house feel like home . We sat down with owner Sarah Schumacher to talk all things Fall 2025—from timeless textures to bold, personal touches.
WHAT DESIGN TRENDS ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT?
We love a good trend—it gives us freedom to dive a little deeper into our creativity. But we always take it back to what pulls at our clients’ heartstrings. Our clients’ happiness is what defines “trend” in our eyes. A few features we’ve been excited to start incorporating:
1. Polished Nickel
A sophisticated finish that blends warm and cool tones seamlessly. It adds a touch of elegance to any space.
2. Accent Lighting
Think sconces and art lights—these pieces not only elevate the mood, but also spotlight favorite artwork or architectural features.
3. Warmth Through Materials
We’re seeing a return of warm woods, leathers, and earth tones like blues, greens, and teals. It’s not about replacing gray, but layering in natural textures and cozy tones that ground a space.
4. Redesign
Yes, redesign is trending in 2025—and it’s always been at the heart of what we do.
EXPLAIN WHAT MAKES REDESIGN DIFFERENT. Redesign is all about incorporating personal style and cherished items into a space. It might be a vintage find, a family heirloom, or just something that makes you happy. That’s what makes a space feel authentically you. These meaningful pieces bring story and soul into a room, making it feel truly lived-in and loved.
SO, WHERE DO WE START?
Schedule a consultation! We offer in-home consultations where we can talk through projects or brainstorm ideas. It might be furniture layout, paint colors, light fixtures, or window treatments.
We also do something we call “shop the house.” We look for opportunities to update a space by rethinking items clients already own. Most people have treasures right at home—they just need help seeing the potential.
WHAT PIECES DO YOU OFTEN HELP PEOPLE REUSE?
Art, lamps, and accent tables are really common. You can reframe art to give it a new look. Lamps might just need a new shade to add texture or pattern. Tables can be painted for a pop of color or stained to add warmth.
WHAT ABOUT PAINT COLORS? WHAT’S TRENDING?
Most people keep gathering spaces neutral. Since we’re color certified, we often help select a “gray that’s not blue” or a “beige that’s not yellow.”
We love clients who want to express themselves or add interest to their home with color, especially in a surprising place like the dining room or powder room. We’re seeing warm undertones in browns, plums, and reds. Colors like Mocha Mousse and Cinnamon Slate are perfect for fall. And earthy greens and slate blues are still going strong.
It seems this fall is all about warmth, character, and creativity. With a few fresh touches—or a simple “shop the house” moment—you can fall back in love with your home and make it feel uniquely, beautifully yours.

THIS FALL’S FITS ARE DOWN TO EARTH AND PHOTO-FABULOUS
Falling into a new season means it’s time to put away summer shorts and tanks, and unpack those cozy, favorite sweaters and tried-and-true blue jeans. But when cycling into a new season, don’t forget it’s the perfect opportunity to refresh and refine your wardrobe. Styles are seamlessly transitioning from spring to fall, too, so why not curate a wardrobe that goes perfectly with this year's hottest trends? With the help of Debby Walker and Deb Popp from Alley Boutique, and Lori Avallone from Mainstream Boutique, upgrading your wardrobe and getting this year’s hottest pieces is easy
So what should you be on the look out for this fall and winter? “Lots of nostalgia—things embellished with buttons and embroidery, hearts, fully decked-out pieces. You’re going to see a lot of originality, items that let you have your own personal flair,” says Debby. Think vintage pieces elevated with stylish new twists.

“Mocha Mousse is our color of the year, so you’re going to see tons of warm, earthy mocha colors,” Lori explains. And while all three style mavens agree that this year is all about the chocolates and browns, you can also expect some brilliant bursts of color. “You’re going to see some pops of red and mahogany,” which Deb says will be a perfect punch to your wardrobe amid all the earth tones. Yes, dreamy neutrals are the anchors of most outfits, but consider adding in some cool-girl color to pull everything together.
As for textures—mesh and lace remain the way to go. “These tops are still in, and we’re seeing lots of variations on them now, which add some fun to any outfit,” advises Lori, who has an assortment of options and styles in-store. Another fun texture that adds both warmth and flare? Crochet is definitely in . And we can’t forget animal prints this season! “Everyone needs a cheetah pant in their closet this year,” Lori promises.
So what’s the must-have staple we all absolutely can’t do without in our wardrobe this fall? Don’t sleep on jackets, ladies! “A jacket of any sort can change a whole outfit from day to night,” agree Debby and Deb. Whether it’s a heavy winter coat or a light jacket for the fall, this piece can transform a whole fit. And just because a jacket is functional doesn’t mean it can’t be fashionable, too.
So while you embrace those tried-and-true faves in the back of your closet, don’t forget to spice up your fall and winter fashion with some gorgeous new lewks.

A regional remodeling specialist, owner John Wood of Bath Inspirations believes that outstanding value begins with experienced designers—and finishes with expert craftsmanship.
That’s just one of the reasons Kristin Jones and her husband chose Bath Inspirations for their remodel, which centered around specific style choices and trends, as well as brighter colors, updated features, and more storage. A look fully inspired by a memorable trip abroad.
“We travelled to both Morocco and Portugal, and loved the blue-and-white tiles we saw everywhere … so we decided to use that theme in our bathroom,” Kristin says. “Not being designers—or even creative-minded people—our biggest challenge was actually choosing the wall color.”
Ironically, painting was the final step, and one that had to be repeated twice until the couple landed on a color they liked—and that best matched the rest of the finished remodel. But the real work began with deciding on allnew fixtures, tiles, lighting, and vanities. For John and his team, this was business as usual for delivering the design of this couple’s dreams— including when enlarging the shower meant moving the floor vent to the center of the bathroom floor. “It was also a challenge to find blue-andwhite tile that didn’t clash with the shower tile or floor tile,” Kristin remembers.

“We fell in love with blue-and-white tile on our travels to Morocco and Portugal.”
The piece that guided the overall design was a unique chandelier from Northern Africa—its design transformed the ambiance of the room.
“In Morocco, we visited a lighting store that made customized pewter chandeliers,” Kristin explains. “We had one handmade for our bathroom. We absolutely love the pattern it displays on the ceiling. It sets a very relaxing atmosphere for an evening soak in the tub.”
Adding a new stand-alone tub, bidet, and shower were the next part of the remodel.
“The lines of the tub are perfect for the space between the vanities and under the window,” Kristin shares. “The tub’s very comfortable, and keeps the water warm longer than our old tub. Plus, we always wanted a larger shower we could both use at the same time and each have our own shower head.”
The trip abroad also inspired a drastic color change, so blue vanities, a blue rug, and blue tiles were added.
“We purchased a handmade blue-andwhite authentic Berber rug in Morocco that we placed at the entrance to the bathroom,” Kristin adds. “Since we were going with a lighter tile, we wanted a pop of color, so we chose the blue vanities.”
The new tile wall—stretching from vanity to vanity—behind the stand-alone tub further enhances the aura of Morocco and Portugal with its modern yet Moorish pattern, adding more vibrance and intricacy to the space while also tying in the design of the new rug.
With John and his team’s help, the final look is sleek, stylish, and harmonized. “We’re very happy with how the bathroom turned out!” Kristin smiles.
