Have you ever wondered, “Do fathers matter? What differences do I make in my home as a dad?”
Let’s start with the simple answer—the importance of a father is tremendous! Fathers make countless differences in their homes and family. However, how much impact you decide to make as a dad is entirely up to you.
For the past few years, this time of year has been especially poignant. I lost my dad very suddenly in early 2021, and the world hasn’t been the same since. The absence of his deep laugh, ironic sense of humor and random depths of knowledge are felt deeply. However, that loss has made me lean into community all the more. Good men are half the secret to a thriving society. Good men teach children who they can aspire to become: how to treat others, how to conduct business, how to navigate uncertainty or grief…and so much more.
If you have the opportunity to spend time with good men, be they blood relatives, friends or mentors, do so. If you can be the good man who pours into others, by all means, do so. The impact you can have on generations to come is immeasurable.
As I reflect on fatherhood this month, I’ll share just a few of the ways dads can build up their home:
• A father’s strength can be powerful
• A dad’s words can be fueling and inspirational
• Hugs from a dad can be deeply comforting
• A dad’s smiles can instill joy and confidence
• Time with a dad can be fun and productive
• A dad’s physicality can be challenging
• A dad’s guidance can be life-changing and foundational
• A father’s correction can be life-saving and life-giving
• Adventures with a dad can be exciting and memorable
As we celebrate the men in our lives this year, let your father or a father figure in your life know how much he matters to you. And if you are a dad, let us be the first to say thank you . You are invaluable to the people who know and need you and the community around you.
Happy Father’s Day!

SUPERIOR INTERIORS BUILT TO LAST
Graeme Daley Reflects on Childhood, Career & Living with Intention
ARTICLE BY TERA MICHELSON | PHOTOGRAPHY BY RF GRAPHICS
Graeme Daley, owner and founder of Daley Design + Build in Madeira, is building more than houses; he’s building a legacy. On a visit to the idyllic Peterloon Estate, the lifelong resident of Indian Hill reflects on his childhood, career and living with intention.
Daley is intimately familiar with the Peterloon grounds. His childhood best friend lived here with his parents, who were the caretakers of the property. Daley’s interest in design, beauty and history is rooted in the brick and mortar of the sprawling Georgian-Queen Anne style home.
“Growing up in and around this home and others like it definitely plays a role in how I got to where I am professionally. People just don't build things like this anymore,” Daley says of the historic Peterloon.
“I started coming here in the mid-80s,” he adds. “From sledding down the hill in the back on Christmas Day to Nerf wars in the gardens during the summer, there was nothing like exploring these 1,200 acres as a kid.”
Daley started an education in engineering that landed in a heart for urban planning and a passion for design and construction. After 15 years of experience working with other firms, Daley went out on his own in 2018.
“With other builders, I got a crash course in what makes customers happy and what makes customers not happy,” he says. “Daley Design + Build is focusing on doing what makes people happy and not doing all the stuff that makes them mad.”
“The goal is to capture the essence of this place we call home.”
One local inspiration to Daley’s career was a fellow resident.
“I remember riding my bike around as a kid and seeing Carl Lindner [Junior] in his Rolls Royces and Bentleys— you could see his white hair coming from a mile away,” Daley says. “He was a self-made man. That was an influence on me wanting to own my own company.”
Now, through the eyes of an adult, Daley appreciates Peterloon and his childhood experiences there even more. It informs his work and guides his principles.
“Philosophically as a builder, I don’t enjoy seeing these large estates being broken down, because that’s removing the essence of Indian Hill. The goal is to capture the essence of this place we call home.”
Daley is a visionary; he designs and builds beyond the here and now. He is interested in preserving the unique character of each location and creating custom homes that make dreams come true.
“There's something to be said about designing and building houses that look like they're supposed to be where they are,” he says. “In many ways, we're bringing people's dreams to life.”
Daley Design + Build is committed to the community and known for its giving spirit. The team gives to a local nonprofit each month with its DD+B Gives Back campaign. Although he is a faithful supporter of the Camargo Hunt, you’re more likely to see Daley riding around town in his signature blue, 1929 Ford Model A than in a saddle.
“It's just fun!” Daley says. “Kids, adults, construction guys on the side of the road—I can't go anywhere in that car without somebody honking and waving.”
Daley is most interested in building things that last. He is focused on what matters most: enjoying time with his wife Nikki and their two children, building beautiful custom homes and taking time to exercise and get in shape.
“If you can build some things that will be around for a long time, your legacy kind of lives with them,” he says. “This is my fingerprint on the world”

Favorably referred to as the “Last Best Place” and the “Treasure State,” Montana has captured the hearts of cinematic cowboys like Taylor Sheridan and Harrison Ford and inspired the television series, “Yellowstone” and its prequels, “1883” and “1923.” Though fictional, they’ve reminded America of its deeply-rooted spirit for adventure and the simple yet rugged way of life that we all crave. Whether its the backdrop of jagged, snowcapped peaks or the endless golden pastures that are peppered with livestock, this Rocky Mountain soil is a breeding ground for dreamers and doers, and the people who call it home are no strangers to the ritual of ranch life.
So, you want to be a cowboy? Slipping on some leather and having a little hide in your hat are good ways to start, but visiting a resort that brings the best of this life to the forefront, while also embracing modern luxury, is the experience of a lifetime. Personalization is key—a divine selection of cuisine for the foodies, awe-inspiring activities for the adrenaline seekers, and world-class lodging that tickles every fancy from stargazing glamping, to timber-style family dwellings, to the uniquely designed green “o hauses” that invite the outside world in.
To change your attitude, you need a change in altitude. Gain some speed or turn up the adrenaline level with ATV tours, electric biking, mountain biking, go-karts, paintball, rappelling down Lookout Rock or whitewater rafting down the Blackfoot River. Indulge in the western art of living with archery, fly-fishing, hiking or sporting clays. For those who want to immerse themselves in the language of horses, there are horse-related adventures such as lessons, grooming or feeding, horse-whispering workshops or organized trails rides. Riders can also enjoy cattle drives that bring you back to yesteryear—driving a herd of cattle across the famed landscape—and bear witness to mustang gentling, where the Equestrian Manager communicates with a wild horse through body language and tone of voice.

The Bourbon Society of Greater Cincinnati has been bringing local bourbon fanatics together for just over a decade. Co-Founder Marc Collins gathers with members on the second Monday of every month to sample and discuss the popular spirit, learning a great deal about the craft of bourbon making, often from notable industry leaders themselves.
Recent speakers include specialists like “Whiskey Professor” Bernie Lubbers, Global Whiskey Ambassador for Heaven Hill; future guests include professionals like Fred Noe, a seventh-generation Master Distiller at Jim Beam.
Collins says that his own obsession with bourbon attracted him to a bourbon-centered club in Louisville, while he was living in Walton, Kentucky. Once in Cincinnati, he wanted to continue the tradition.
“I got to thinking,” he says, “why don’t we do something like this in Greater Cincinnati?”
The group’s inaugural meeting was held in 2014 at Summer Hills Country Club in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, but soon outgrew that space. Today, the group–140 members strong–meets at the Tower Mess Hall in Fort Thomas, Kentucky.

“The first meeting is always free,” Collins says, “just to see if you like it, to see if it's something you want to get involved in. And then it's $125 a year for the first two years. If you continue on, it's just $100.”
At the meetings, members enjoy presentations and taste a number of different bourbon whiskeys. Other events like overnight excursions to visit distilleries, group dinners and golf outings complement the monthly gatherings.
Every December, the club raises money for a nonprofit organization selected by its board. Last year, the group raised $7,000 for Cincinnati nonprofit Cancer Family Care, which supports families who have received a cancer diagnosis. The Girl Scouts of America has also received funds from the Society. Those numbers, like meeting attendance, are likely to go up: Collins points out that there’s significant and growing interest in all things bourbon.
“It's hot right now,” Collins says. “I think back in the day, sipping whiskey was just for your grandfather. But now, it's for everybody.”
Meeting people who have different tastes is important to the Bourbon Society’s mission of bringing people together—no matter what their familiarity with bourbon may be.
“Our group's not the type that's going to turn our nose up to anybody that drinks (bourbon) the way they like it,” he explains. “We just really want you to enjoy bourbon.”
Although he now calls Cincinnati home, Collins stresses how his Bluegrass roots still connect him to the world of bourbon.
“After all,” he says, “I'm originally from Kentucky. You know, bourbon is kind of our birthright.” CinciBourbon.com

“Anyone wanting to learn more about bourbon and interact with other bourbon enthusiasts in a casual, fun atmosphere should attend,” says Collins.

GARY KESSLER/KESSLER PHOTOGRAPHY
The Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance is ready to roll into the blooming gardens of historic Ault Park with 250 collector vehicles. Now in its 47th year, it is the premier classic car show event of its kind—a full weekend of events ramps up to the internationally recognized fundraiser for Juvenile Arthritis on Sunday, June 8.
This year’s theme, “Icons of British Motoring,” promises a look at twenty-one classes of classic, vintage and exotic automobiles and motorcycles, including a James Bond tribute car outfitted with Agent 007 spy accessories. The show also features special display classes celebrating the 100th anniversary of Chrysler, Indian Motorcycles and Automotive Oddities: The Strange and Wonderful.
“Our event gets bigger and better year-over-year with something for everyone, from car enthusiasts to families with young children–from supercars to classic cars and motorcycles,” says Julie Wyte, Executive Director of the Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance Foundation. “Ault Park is one of the most beautiful public parks in our country and is the perfect backdrop to display such glorious automotive beauty,” she adds.
The Concours weekend begins Saturday, June 7 with a Countryside Tour— participants motor through scenic roads of the Cincinnati region. Saturday evening brings the Hangar Party at Lunken Airport, featuring exotic cars, motorcycles and private jets. Tickets include beverages and dinner by the bite.
The main event is the Concours d’Elegance, Sunday, June 8, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Ault Park. A VIP Brunch catered by Eat Well will be offered on Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Ault Park Pavilion. The Craft Beer Garden & Bourbon Tasting will be on the show field this year, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance is as much about community as it is about cars. A well-oiled team of more than 400 volunteers work together to make the show a success. The passion behind the purpose is what makes the show truly one of a kind.
“Some of our volunteers have been with us for more than 40 years,” Wyte shares. “We have a lot of multi-generational help—families that return year after year. I am honored to be working with such great people and hand-inhand with The Arthritis Foundation,” she continues. “All of the money stays local and supports a camp for children with Juvenile Arthritis and their families.”
This June, brake for the Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance, the event of the season that fuels a good cause.

Meet Local Car Specialist Greg Stanley
For gearhead Greg Stanley, cars are more than a hobby. He works as a Car Specialist with lauded auction house RM Sotheby’s.
“I like to say that I help clients achieve their collector car goals—whether that means finding the dream car they’ve chased since they were sixteen or guiding them through the sale as they transition out of the hobby,” says Stanley. “My goal is to make every experience with RM Sotheby’s enjoyable, rewarding and seamless.”

JEREMY CLIFF/RM SOTHEBY'S
Stanley recently oversaw the sale of a 1962 Ferrari 330 LM/250 GTO for the record-breaking sum of $51.7 million, the second-highest price achieved for a car at auction and the most valuable Ferrari ever sold at auction.
“Being a car specialist is all about building lasting relationships within the collector car community, and being available as a trusted resource,” Stanley explains.
“The family knew I worked with RM Sotheby’s, which had recently facilitated the world-record sale of the
1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR 'Uhlenhaut Coupé’ for approximately $142 million. So when it came time to sell the GTO, there was really only one clear path—through RM Sotheby’s.”
Stanley shares his passion for cars and sense of humor as the host of The Collector Car Podcast , which counts an impressive 235,000 subscribers. On the show, he interviews experts, reviews the collector car market and shares personal experiences with cars, from Chevy Novas to exotic sportscars. He recently appeared on the web series Jay Leno’s Garage to showcase his own unrestored 1966 Pontiac GTO.
Stanley and his wife Jenni spend downtime attending classic car cruise-ins and are active members of their church.
“I volunteer with the Cincinnati Concours and often share my stories and expertise at local Rotary, Kiwanis and car club meetings,” he says.
They have enjoyed living in the Cincinnati area for nearly 16 years.
“We truly love it,” he says. “We really appreciate Cincinnati’s strong work ethic, the sense of community and the deeprooted family values you find in Ohio.”
