OPEN-WATER SWIMMING TAKES ROOT IN LONG BRANCH

Adventure Awaits - Welcome to our 'Explore' Issue!
Dear Readers,
Summer in the Greater Long Branch area has a way of reminding us just how good life can be—ocean breezes, sandy toes, and spontaneous detours that turn a regular Saturday into an adventure. This season feels especially exciting as we continue to grow and explore more of our vibrant coastal community—now proudly covering Long Branch, West Long Branch, Oakhurst, Deal, and Oceanport as part of our rebrand to Greater Long Branch City Lifestyle.

Our July Explore Issue is all about leaning into that spirit—whether it’s uncovering something new in your own backyard or hitting the road (or waves) for something unexpected.
Speaking of waves, turn to page 34 for Brian Shea’s surf story, a sun-soaked tribute to chasing swells, wiping out with style, and why the ocean always calls us back. If you’ve ever tried surfing—or just admired it from a beach chair with iced coffee in hand—this one’s for you.
Our four-legged friends deserve a little adventure, too. On page 20, “Pup Paradise ” reveals the best dog-friendly spots where tails wag harder than the wind on Pier Village. Whether your pup prefers park paths or splashing surf, we’ve got the scoop.
If dessert’s your thing (of course it is), the blueberry tart recipe on page 42 is pure summer on a plate—blueberries optional, but highly encouraged.
Wellness takes a local twist in “Reformer Revolution” on page 10, where we explore how West Long Branch’s growing Pilates scene is helping residents strengthen, stretch, and occasionally wobble through life. Spoiler: muscles you didn’t know you had will thank you.
Need a reason to smile a little brighter? Check out West Long Branch Dental on page 28—more than just cleanings, they’re creating confident grins one patient at a time.
For those dreaming of legacy, artistry, or just a really nice patio, “Your Idea in Stone ” on page 24 shows how one local business is helping residents turn memories and milestones into stunning stonework.
And don’t miss our exclusive with Real Housewives of New Jersey star Rachel Fuda on page 16. From camera-ready glam to everyday motherhood, she proves that no matter where you are in life, Family Comes First.
Wherever this month takes you—whether it’s across town or just to a new page in this issue—we hope you’ll explore with open eyes and a sense of curiosity.
Here’s to discovering something new,

Reformer

The Pilates Studio Redefining Fitness
Revolution
It only takes a few seconds inside Studio Pilates International Long Branch, a reformer Pilates studio located in the city’s emblematic Pier Village, to realize it’s different from your typical fitness space. You won’t find the concrete walls, splashed in black paint and tinted red by LED light strips, of a HIIT bootcamp gym. Or the booming techno music that washes out a spin studio.
Instead, hardwood floors and shimmering chandeliers make the 14 reformers between them feel approachable and elegant, ready to be draped upon. There are no mirrors in the studio. There isn’t even a clock to count the seconds until a change in movement. In fact, the 40-minute workout might wind away before it even occurs to you to check the time at all.
Studio Pilates International Long Branch Team
Seiko Sato-Martini

“I was in really bad shape physically and mentally, and that’s when I found Pilates, and it really changed my life,” says Seiko Sato-Martini, the Long Branch studio owner.
During COVID-19, Sato-Martini and her husband became empty nesters. On top of it, the 55-year-old began experiencing menopause. She felt she was carrying too much weight and developed knee pain so agonizing that she’d have to brace herself when climbing stairs.
She tried gym memberships, various exercise apps but they never stuck. There was a Peloton at home, but she couldn’t bring herself to ride it. Sato-Martini is far from lazy—she gave up a career on Wall Street to raise her daughter—but she never was really into fitness. Until she stepped into a Studio Pilates studio.
“Just trying one class made me feel like this is different and it did change my life. I realized then if it could for someone like me, it could work for anyone,” she says.
Pilates didn’t just transform Sato-Martini’s fitness: her knee pain totally disappeared. Everyone should have access to this miracle workout, she thought, so she began looking for a company with which she could open a studio. That’s when she discovered Studio Pilates International.
The Brisbane, Australia-based company boasts over 100 studios worldwide. Co-founders Jade Winter, a former Olympic swimmer for Australia, and Tanya Winter, a physical therapist and former competitive swimmer, opened the company’s first studio in 2002. It was well before Pilates became popular among celebrities for their red carpet-worthy abs and NFL players went viral for struggling on reformers during the offseason.
The company established itself as a Pilates pioneer with programs designed by physical therapists and audio-visual technology demonstrating movements in the studio. And the company’s motto, “Changing the Way the World Works Out,” reflects its innovative approach. You can expect the same challenging workout at a studio in Long Branch as you can in London or Brisbane. All Studio Pilates clients participate in the same rigorous program, coming together as one global community.
So, when Sato-Martini reached out to the company, they agreed Pier Village was the perfect spot for a Studio Pilates studio. She became a franchise owner and opened Studio Pilates Long Branch in July 2024. Long Branch residents no longer need to travel to Shrewsbury or Oakhurst for a 40-minute reformer session.

“Changing
the Way the World Works Out.”
Despite being part of a franchise, Studio Pilates International Long Branch maintains a personal and meaningful atmosphere. Shortly after the birth of her daughter, Sato-Martini unexpectedly developed Single-Sided Deafness, losing hearing in her left ear permanently, making it a challenge to participate in group Pilates classes. If an instructor moved to the opposite side of the room, she’d often lose their voice among the noise. This left her with the choice of either taking a chance by mimicking the movements of someone nearby—hoping they were doing the exercise correctly—or falling behind in the class.
But Studio Pilates International’s pioneering technology includes TV screens and speakers in the studio that lead clients through the workout and provide clear instructions both audibly and visually. Instructors are free to circulate through the studio and give clients their total attention. It minimizes potential for clients to get injured, hold incorrect form, or become lost during the workout. All things to which Sato-Martini once felt vulnerable.
“The workout instructions were clear to follow, and I never felt frustrated or unable to perform the exercises correctly,” Sato-Martini shares. “The new method of delivering instructions, with visual aids and a clear voice-over, along with personal attention from the instructor, was one of the key factors that inspired me to open a Studio Pilates in New Jersey."
"This format truly is for everyone," she adds.
Sato-Martini genuinely welcomes everyone, having seen collegiate athletes, busy stay-at-home moms, and wellness-conscious clients in their 60s and even 70s all working out together in the same class using the same program. This inclusive approach is made possible by the personalized attention provided by the highly trained instructors, who can tailor the workout to fit each client’s fitness level.

The responsibility of whom she entrusts with clients is a serious matter for Sato-Martini. She seeks instructors who embody qualities such as caring, kindness, and compassion, as these traits are vital in the Studio Pilates International program, which focuses on client-centric services. Everything is designed to maximize the client's experience, including visual aids from SPTV’s, clear voiceovers, and personalized corrections and modifications by the instructors. Instructors are as professional as ever in black Studio Pilates uniforms, completely immersing themselves into their role, another integral part of the program.
Some clients come specifically for the community-driven environment that the Studio Pilates International crew cultivates. Some come to see how friends and family members became so quickly addicted. Others are drawn by the studio’s location, in the company of Playa Bowls and Cowabunga Coffee Roasters, its floor-to-ceiling entryway windows facing the glistening Atlantic.
Regardless of why they come, there’s no question of why they stay.
Beginners can purchase their 6 Pilates classes for $60. But we doubt you’ll need all 6 to make up your mind.

FAMILY COMES FIRST

Rachel Fuda on Balancing Motherhood and Reality TV Fame
The Fuda Family

For Rachel Fuda, star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, fame isn’t the finish line—family is. While millions of Bravo fans know her for her polished style, quick wit, and reality TV presence, Fuda remains firmly grounded in her role at home.
“Being a mom is what defines me right now,” she shares. “This is a very temporary little-kid phase of life, and I’m trying to be as present as possible.”
That phase is a full one. Fuda and her husband, John, are raising four children, ranging from a newborn to a high school senior. Their dinner conversations span from college decisions to toddler tantrums—and somehow, she makes it all look seamless.
“I’m sending one son off to college and caring for a newborn at the same time,” she explains. “It’s full-circle chaos—but it’s beautiful.”
Fuda, who was born on Long Island and raised in Bergen County, now calls Franklin Lakes home. Staying close to her roots has always been important. “There’s something special about knowing who your kids go to school with, who your neighbors are. You don’t need to hang out every weekend, but it’s nice to be surrounded by familiar, good people.”

RACHEL FUDA - TV PERSONALITY

Glam by: @kevinkelly.hair and @darianmarie_mua
Beyond her role on television, she’s a businesswoman. Together with her husband, she recently launched Glam Studio Suites in Norwood and helps operate Valet King, a tri-state parking concierge service. The workload is hefty, but the Fuda’s are clear on what matters.
“We’ve always known what’s important—family, marriage, and doing right by people,” she notes.
That clarity has helped her navigate the whirlwind of reality TV without losing herself. When she joined RHONJ, her youngest daughter Giuliana was just eight weeks old. “It was wild,” she laughs. “But we had a family conversation before committing. I wanted my oldest, Jaiden, to be comfortable with it. I’m really big on boundaries.”
Jaiden, now a high school senior, embraced the opportunity—and even enjoys his own local fame. “He walks the boardwalk in Seaside Heights and gets stopped by girls asking for pictures. He’s loving it.”
Still, the public spotlight has its downsides, especially online. Like many reality stars, Fuda has had to set clear boundaries with social media.
“I’ve been in therapy for a long time, and I’m a big advocate for mental health. People will judge everything—from your parenting to the color of your shorts,” she says with a wry smile. “But I’ve learned the less you read, the better. Ignorance really is bliss.”
Support comes not only from within her home, but also from her Bravo circle. Melissa and Joe Gorga—fellow castmates have become close friends. The families connected through their sons, who played youth football together, and that connection quickly deepened.
As for the show, Fuda takes a measured approach. She’s grateful for the experiences—attending the VMAs, meeting Bravo fans at BravoCon—but she keeps her life in perspective.
“The show is secondary to me. My life doesn’t change whether I’m on or off it,” she affirms. “What I have in my real life is what matters most.”
Looking ahead, she’s starting to think about the next phase. “Right now, I’m in survival mode,” she laughs. “But once the kids are all in school, I’d love to do something for myself. Write a book, maybe launch something new—something that fills my soul.”
Her outlook is shaped by the long view of parenting. “Your kids need you in different ways as they grow. When they’re older, I know I’ll need something for me, too—something that’s just mine.”
Giving back is already part of her story. Diagnosed with arthritis at just four years old, she had both hips replaced by 18. Today, she works closely with the Arthritis Foundation, hosting events and raising awareness for young people living with the condition.
“There were no resources when I was 14, going through all that. I felt so different from everyone else,” she shares. “Now I try to be the support I didn’t have.”
Through it all—motherhood, business, TV—her values haven’t wavered. “John always says, ‘One hand washes the other, and two hands wash a face.’ That’s how New Jersey works. That’s how we work.”
For Fuda, staying grounded in what matters most—family, community, and authenticity—is the real key to navigating it all.
“WE’VE ALWAYS KNOWN WHAT’S IMPORTANT— FAMILY, MARRIAGE, AND DOING RIGHT BY PEOPLE.”RACHEL FUDA
PUP PARADISE
Long Branch: The Best Dog-Friendly Town in New Jersey
Yes, you read that right. Long Branch is the best dog-friendly town in New Jersey! Having visited this gorgeous beach town for over 20 years, and spending the last 9 years with my dog, Brie, tagging along, we’ve got plenty of reasons to back up this claim. The culture of treating dogs like family members and taking them on adventures has grown in popularity, and Long Branch is perfect for both locals and tourists who want to spend the day with their dogs. The town's growth has brought in dog-friendly hotels, restaurants, activities, shopping, and more!
Here’s what makes Long Branch so special for dogs:
BEACHES/WALKING PATH
The main attraction of any beach town is, of course, the beach! Leashed dogs can play on the sand and wade in the ocean from October 1 through April 30. Local summer and the offseason are even better for pups with fewer crowds and cooler weather. Although the boardwalk is not dog-friendly year-round, Long Branch stands out with a parallel sidewalk/blacktop path along the boardwalk, where you can enjoy ocean views with your dog. Nearby, there’s also the dog-friendly, off-leash Asbury Park Dog Beach and the Wolf Hill Recreation Area dog park in Oceanport.

RESTAURANTS
After working up an appetite on a walk, you’ll find plenty of restaurants with outdoor seating that welcome your pup. Some options include:
• The WhiteChapel Projects – Dogs are welcome in "the yard" at this transformed warehouse-turned-restaurant and event venue. Yappy hour events are coming soon!
• Lana – Cool vibes, delicious food, and great wine make this a trendy spot for dogs inside before nightlife starts.
• Robinson Ale House – Enjoy people-watching on the outdoor patio with your dog, while indulging in an eclectic menu.
• Nip N Tuck Bar and Grill – A femaleowned dive bar with a large dog-friendly outdoor patio, famous for its burgers.
• Richard's Deli/Chupacabra – Oldschool deli options and modern tacos in one spot with seasonal outdoor seating for you and your pup!
• Max’s Bar & Grill – Famous for hot dogs for over 90 years, dogs are welcome inside for a classic meal.
• Surf Taco – Enjoy coastal cuisine and a dog-friendly outdoor seating area.
• Jack's Goal Line Stand – A classic sports bar with dog-friendly outdoor seating.
DRINK SPOTS
• Beach Bee Meadery – A beautiful space for craft mead and cider with both indoor and outdoor dog-friendly areas.
• Tiki Bar at Ocean Place Resort – Open to the public and pups, this spot features oceanfront views, DJs, and a tiki bar with a full menu.
• Wave Resort – Two dog-friendly spots: the seasonal Carousel Bar and the indoor Bar, both allow dogs.
• Murphy’s Bar – A local dive bar where leashed dogs are welcome inside.
SHOPPING
• Pier Village – A shopping destination with eclectic shops and dog-friendly policies, though it’s always a good idea to check with storekeepers.
• Doggie Sweets – A pet-themed boutique with high-quality products, a bakery, and fun events for your pup!
• Long Branch Bazaar – A unique shopping event featuring artists, makers, and collectors, often dog-friendly depending on the location.

HOTELS
• Wave – A modern oceanfront hotel that is dog-friendly with a great bar.
• Bungalow – A boutique dog-friendly hotel with a welcoming vibe.
• Ocean Place Resort & Spa – In addition to the great tiki bar, this resort is also dogfriendly, making it perfect for a getaway.
FUN STUFF
• Pier Village Carousel – Friendly dogs can ride for free with a human ticket purchase—fun for the whole family!
• Blue Skies Pottery – A full-service pottery shop where leashed, friendly dogs are allowed to accompany you as you create artwork.
• Boardwalk Fun N Games – Leashed, friendly dogs can join you inside when it’s not too crowded to play games like skee ball and video games.
• Festival Plaza – A venue for many events throughout the year, including live music, festivals, and artisan markets— all dog-friendly!
With so many dog-friendly activities, restaurants, and accommodations, it’s no wonder Long Branch is the best place to bring your pup in New Jersey!

Your Idea in Stone
How a Long Branch family business is shaping the town’s style — and standing the test of time.

Over the past six decades, Anthony Damiano has witnessed Long Branch’s many evolutions — and has been a part of them.
Born and raised in Long Branch and a business owner for three of those decades, Damiano has influenced the town’s aesthetics and has been an ardent supporter of the community.
“The renaissance is interesting — and I’m happy to be a part of it,” says Damiano, owner of The Stone Gallery Inc. Both Damiano and his wife, Frances, with whom he opened the business in 1992, are generations deep in Long Branch history: Frances’ father owned Pistol Pete’s Restaurant on the boardwalk, and Damiano’s grandfather owned one of the town’s oldest pool halls.

Damiano certainly knows his stone. He has been in the industry for 43 years, starting his career at masonry building material supply company Joseph Calabretta Inc. while attending Brookdale Community College. When the business was bought by Clayton Block Co., he was offered a job managing the Long Branch location and decided to “give this a shot.”
When he opened his own business, he brought his masonry building materials experience to the next level by adding an architectural focus.
“We provide a design center where an architect, interior designer, landscape architect, contractor or homeowner can come into the showroom with their plans, lay them out on one of our workstations and choose from a wide variety of products to design the project of their dreams from fine stone finishes,” he explains.
Damiano sees people incorporating stone into interior as well as exterior applications.
“People are bringing natural stone into the house as an accent wall, on a stairway or as a countertop,” he notes.
When asked about trends, Damiano shares really “anything goes,” but he is seeing a more modern flair around town.
“We are seeing Manhattan and Brooklyn designers and architects coming here to modernize the cedar shake–style homes with glass, strong angles and geometric shapes,” he says.
Damiano encourages people to stop by and visit their newly renovated showroom.
“We are very particular about what brands we carry,” he shares. “We only work with vendors who are going to stand behind their product.”
In true family-business style, customers will encounter Damiano’s cousin, Anthony Rescigno, along with design expert Chrissy Ferrigno, on the showroom floor.
While there, Damiano encourages customers to ask about the origins of the stone. One of the things he enjoys most about his work is educating customers and serving as a resource for architects and designers.
“I study the quarries where our materials come from, whether from here or abroad,” he says.
“I can tell you, for example, that stone is from Texas, the Midwest or New England and how they are composed differently by nature and create different aesthetics.”

Often, customers will come in with photos of design concepts, but if they don’t, Damiano, Rescigno and Ferrigno have them covered.
“Our tagline is ‘Your Idea in Stone.’ We take your concepts and build them in stone for you. We will ask you what you like in terms of color, pattern and materials,” Damiano explains. “For example, we have an endless variety of options in tile: large and small, polished and unpolished, ones that look like stone or marble, patterns on porcelain, natural stone and mosaics.”
Look around town and you’ll see hallmarks of The Stone Gallery.
“We like getting involved in the community,” Damiano says. “We have helped town services or groups that came to us for assistance building a monument or doing a design that involves stone by donating materials. We’ve been here for decades, and our excitement has not diminished.”

NOT Just Another DENTIST
Step into West Long Branch Dental’s Instagram feed and you might think you’ve stumbled upon a lifestyle influencer’s page— full of laughter, music, and the occasional dental assistant strutting around in latex glove stilettos. But behind the fun is something far more rare in today’s world of curated content and constant selling: honesty.
Dr. Isabel Bastos, the heart of this neighborhood practice, isn’t interested in being an “Instagram dentist.” She’s not here to pitch the latest whitening trend or upsell cosmetic work you don’t need. In fact, she puts it plainly: “If you’re happy with your current dentist, stay.” That kind of candor is unusual— and refreshing.
Nestled in a white building on Broadway between two family homes, West Long Branch Dental isn’t flashy on the outside. But inside, it’s a haven for personalized, no-pressure dental care. There’s no one-size-fits-all treatment plan here. Every patient is treated like an individual—with a mouthful of unique needs and preferences.

How West Long Branch Dental Wins Trust, Not Followers
ARTICLE BY CAROLINE FANNING PHOTOGRAPHY BY ANDREA PHOX

WHAT YOU NEED, NOT WHAT’S TRENDING
Take veneers, for instance—a cosmetic favorite among celebrities and influencers. These thin, porcelain covers can dramatically transform a smile. But they’re also permanent, costly, and require ongoing maintenance. Dr. Bastos meets patients all the time who don’t realize veneers need to be replaced every 10 years—or that once your natural tooth is altered to fit a veneer, there’s no going back.
She recalls steering one patient toward a whitening treatment instead. “Her husband said, ‘You don’t see dentists with veneers,’” Dr. Bastos remembers, laughing. “And I thought—he’s right! I know a lot of dentists. Not one has veneers.”
But when veneers are the right choice—say, for discolored or misshapen teeth—Dr. Bastos will be just as upfront about that too. It’s never about selling. It’s about solutions.
MORE THAN JUST TEETH
Of course, West Long Branch Dental offers far more than cosmetic consultations. Their services include routine cleanings and checkups, crowns and bridges, implants, periodontal therapy, root canals, Invisalign, whitening, and even Botox. Whether you’re coming in for a cleaning or a complete smile makeover, the team’s warmth and attention to detail are the same.
And it really is a team effort. Dr. Bastos is joined by Dr. Mary Halim, two hygienists, three dental assistants, and a patient care coordinator—all of whom treat patients like old friends. Whether it’s your child’s first visit or your fiftieth, you’ll be greeted by name, and chances are someone will ask how that job interview or vacation went since they last saw you.
SERVING EVERYONE, INCLUDING HER OWN COMMUNITY
After earning a dental degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Bastos has dedicated her career to advancing clinical excellence and education in dentistry. She currently teaches general dentistry residents at Monmouth Medical Center, where she shares her expertise and passion for comprehensive patient care with the next generation of dental professionals.
“There’s an artistic side to dentistry that people don’t always see,” she says. “You’re sculpting with your hands, paying attention to tiny details. But at the end of the day, I love that I get to connect with people. Honestly, my assistants sometimes have to tell me to stop chatting and get moving—I just enjoy it so much.”
THE BOTTOM LINE
West Long Branch Dental might make you smile on Instagram—but it’s their honesty, warmth, and deep respect for their patients that keep people coming back. Whether you're there for a cleaning or a consult, you're not just another appointment on the schedule. You’re part of a community— one that laughs, listens, and truly cares about your smile.

WAVES OF IMPACT

ARTICLE BY CARLY MAC MANUS PHOTOGRAPHY BY KARTHEEK HEDGE, BRIAN SHEA
BRIAN SHEA AND THE JERSEY SHORE MASTERS SWIM COMMUNITY

For Brian Shea, the ocean is more than a backdrop—it’s the foundation of a lifelong passion and a central force in nearly everything he does. As the founder of Jersey Shore Masters (JSM), Shea has created a thriving community of open-water swimmers who gather regularly along the coast of Monmouth County to train, compete and connect through a shared love of the sea.
Born and raised in Point Pleasant Beach, Shea has always identified as a “beach kid.” Surfing, swimming and spending long days by the ocean were all part of his childhood, but it was swimming—especially in the open water—that would become his calling.
“I started surfing before I was out of grammar school,” Shea says. “As I got older and more competitive in swimming, running, and triathlon, I always gravitated toward open-water racing rather than competing in the pool.”
His personal journey in endurance sports took off as a teenager, where he excelled in triathlon and long-distance swimming. After college, Shea continued to race at a high-level including a 2hr49min New York City Marathon and 9hr31min Ironman Triathlon, qualifying him for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. During this period, he relocated to Monmouth County, only to find a gap in the local fitness landscape.
“There was a real need for a ‘masters’ swim program— something for post-collegiate swimmers,” he explains. “It began with a few friends in a single lane, then two, three, four lanes. Eventually, we needed an entire pool and multiple time slots to accommodate everyone.”
That modest start has since evolved into Jersey Shore Masters, a six-day-a-week indoor training program based in Asbury Park, supplemented by open-water swims in Long Branch from June through September.
“We’re in the ocean no less than three times per week during the summer,” Shea says. “It’s become a cornerstone of what we do.”
Long Branch, in particular, plays a vital role in JSM’s success. With its central location, beautiful beaches and welcoming community, it’s proven the ideal spot for hosting regular ocean swims and the annual Long Branch Ocean Swim Race, scheduled this year for Aug. 3, 2025.
“Some of the best surfers and watermen I knew growing up were based around Long Branch,” Shea says. “When I moved to Monmouth County, it became clear this would be a perfect home for our group swims. The town has embraced us. Beyond the beach itself, there’s great food, activities, and so much for friends and families to enjoy while swimmers are training.”
As with any ocean-based activity, unpredictability is part of the experience. For Shea, the biggest challenge in organizing group swims and races is the ever-changing mood of Mother Nature.
“The three variables we always have to account for are surf, wind and weather,” he says. “Safety is our number one priority. That’s why we work with a rotation of Long Branch Ocean Rescue guards—some of the best out there. When you’re introducing people to open-water swimming, having staff who aren’t just good, but exceptional, is absolutely essential.”
Shea emphasizes that JSM welcomes all experience levels— from first-time ocean swimmers to high-level collegiate athletes.
“Our goal is to offer something for everyone, no matter where they are on their swimming journey,” he says.
While Shea is quick to credit his team and community partners, his leadership and commitment have been instrumental in building a safe, inclusive space where ocean lovers can challenge themselves and grow.
Although he plays a supporting role in the well-known Surfing for Vision camp, organized by fellow local Dave Kawut, Shea’s eagerness to volunteer highlights his broader commitment to ocean accessibility.
Looking ahead, Shea hopes Jersey Shore Masters and the Long Branch Ocean Swim will continue to inspire people to embrace open-water swimming and form deeper connections to the ocean.
“The open-water community is growing, not just here, but all over the world,” he says. “I hope what we’re doing in Long Branch helps more people discover what’s possible. There’s a place for everyone in this community.”

Meet
Coach Brian Shea

Brian Shea brings a wealth of experience in endurance sports as an athlete, coach, and consultant. He is the Founder & Head Coach of Jersey Shore Masters and has spent over 35 years competing in everything from 5Ks to ultra-marathon swims, long-distance runs, and Ironman triathlons.
A decorated competitor, Shea has raced and won triathlons in the U.S. and abroad, with multiple Ironman finishes— including the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. His personal bests include:
• 5K – 15:54
• Marathon – 2:49
• Ironman – 9:31
Most recently, he’s earned seven Top-10 finishes at the 9-mile Swim for Alligator Light in Islamorada, Florida, and podiumed (1st, 2nd & 3rd) at the U.S. Lifesaving Association National Championships.
As a certified coach, Shea has developed training and sports nutrition programs for athletes at every level—from beginners to professionals.
For those interested in diving in, Shea encourages newcomers and seasoned swimmers alike to join a training session or attend the Long Branch Ocean Swim Race this August.

Blueberry Tart
A golden almond-crusted tart topped with clouds of vanilla cream and bursting with fresh blueberries
Founder of D’ice Delights in Long Branch, Chef Ulises Fragoso, along with his wife Diana Nevarez, infuses every dessert with heart and heritage. Born in Mexico, Fragoso discovered his love for baking as a child, sneaking tastes of his mother’s orange pound cake batter. His dishes are rich with family tradition— from mole with filet mignon to his mom’s comforting bread pudding. Fragoso credits his daughters as his greatest achievement and dreams of one day having the superpower to be everywhere at once: with family, at work, and helping his community.
Until then, he pours his passion into every bite—including the blueberry tart you’re about to enjoy.
